That's probably the best light comparison video that I have seen. There is a lot of effort involved in making that and it was worthwhile. As a bit of a light nut (using Baja Designs lights) it was excellent to see the true light output in a very suitable location. It could only be better if you could access some other brands lights to compare. I found the stock headlight (2021 r1250gs Rallye) somewhat disappointing but with a pair of BD Squadron Pro lights highbeam is totally adequate in our wallaby infested part of the world. Would love to try the Denalis. Well done on the video.
I want to commend you for the time and effort that you put into this video. Excellent. For some reason I have been "down a rabbit hole" over auxiliary lights, the cost being my biggest hang-up. That said, this and your other videos are very educational and Denali should give you props (or money lol) for the service you provide.
Very comprehensive Steve and as s creator myself I can appreciate the work that has gone into it. It’s also helped me decide what I want to go onto my bike!
Thanks for this video. I recently installed a set of D3 driving lights with the hybrid lenses, and they are mounted upside down. I contacted Denali directly in the US and they stated that the lights can be used upside down. My guess for the different answer that you’re getting is due to certification. I probably got a practical answer and you got a more conservative answer. The lights may have only been tested and certified in their upright orientation. So although it makes no difference to invert them, they can’t tell you that they’re approved for use that way. That’s my theory, based on some experience with automotive certification processes.
Are you satisfied with the new D3’s ? I just purchased a 2021 r1250gs standard I’m in New York and was thinking of installing the D3’s as my only auxiliary lights. Not sure wether to get the spots or hybrids Which would you recommend and will the D3’s suffice as my only forward facing lights beside the stock headlight Thanks
I just bought a Honda CRF300L with a pair of D4’s fitted and can definitely vouch for their real world effectiveness… having watched this fantastic video I realise what an upgrade they are… I doubt the standard CRF light would be as powerful as the BMW which looked like a cheap torch by comparison to the D4 and D7 lights
Hey Steve…… I am hanging on your every word (& video) as I drive myself nuts obsessing over the choices. Even though I am about to query one or two of your observations for the sake of clarity, I do value your input greatly indeed. My goal is to acquire: • the best nighttime driving light at moderate speeds through deer country (Canada) ( 50ish mph), that would provide a balance between adequate distance and good width….& • great conspicuity lights for the daytime. I am currently theorizing that the desirable combo for these purposes may be the D4 (Spot) plus the D3 Fogs……taking note of both your vid’s on “Which Lights are Best for You” and “ The D3 & D4”. Here is my dilemma: 1. You state that the D3 Fog is all about providing the greatest spread of light (300 ft) hence the best daytime visibility. But at time mark 29:30 of the first vid, that light is barely visible at 100%??? 2. You also state that the D3 Spot is Dot approved, implying the it is therefore street legal in North America. However the text description that accompanied your presentation indicated that while the Hybrid version was indeed Dot approved, the Spot version was only approved for Europe. As I am rather hoping that this latter combination would meet my needs, I would be very grateful for your clarification if I have missed something here. Or perhaps you might have a better recommendation?? Thank you. Every success to your garage….. .
Fantastic video!!! I appreciate the time and effort showing all the aux lights side by side. That really helps trying to narrow down which aux light would fit my needs. For me I am in need of extra light going on a completely dark mountain road, such as in your farm scenario. I would like to attach them to the forks so that as I turn I am getting the light directed to where I am headed. Keep up the great work.
Incredible video, thank you for taking the time. I can’t imagine the time it takes to do any one part of this process … let alone the full video you’ve posted. I hadn’t considered additional lights before watching your video, but now I can SEE the difference. I will be purchasing through your website, simply to compensate you for the time you’ve taken to give us all a well made, in-depth comparison. Well done Sir!
Ordered the S4’s, CANsmart GEN II and crash bar mounts Tuesday night, and they are sitting on my counter already (Thursday)!! Amazing service, great videos, thank you!
Great vid, Steve. Very much looking forward to strapping some of these to the Big Lad! That bit at the end is incredible; getting used to seeing the light levels with the D7's, and then unplugging to show OEM only. Huge difference! Top job
Very well done. Definitely helps me to decide what I may like to add to my GS. I've never seen anyone do a better job promoting and testing their product. I can see you may like selling but you are having fun doing it. To get such honesty in product description is very rare in this day when getting the sale is most important. A 5 STAR video. Your video instructions are also the best. Your lady deserves another night out for putting up with your time consuming bike love. :) Best wishes from Ben USA
Excellent video. Well done. I know that took a lot of preparation/setup time and post too. Thanks a lot for putting this together. Definitely going for the Denali lights. Not sure yet, between D3 and D4. More research and mount location.
I would really like the S4 .. they are the perfect size. Only big downside for me is that they dont have the amber lense option.. if that were the case it would be a no-brainer.
Awesome video very well done. Definitely helps me to decide what I may like to add to my GSA. I’m thinking you need to make a D7 D3 fog bundle. I think that the combination between those two sets of lights is all you need unless you wanted to be seen from Mars. Well done mate, stay safe behind those bars.
Excellent video! I already bought the D4s. Still would after seeing your comparison but thinking about adding D3s with the fog lens. I'm running an HD RA1250S (Pan America) in the U.S. Thanks for the detailed analysis.
From Los Angeles- Thank You for this Excellent video. Just got a F700GS and looking to add more Lights. I just don't know which type to get it' I will use at night but more for daytime to be seem by the traffic car drivers.
Your ability and effort to communicate to customers is wonderful. I would buy from you if Twisted Throttle and the people I know there were not so close. I’ve installed the DialDim and am waiting for the D3s and D3 yellow fog lights. I purchased them because they are certified for many public roads as you mentioned. Your upcoming video on the purposes and selection of colors for MC fog lights is needed in the UA-cam space. Thank you again.
Hi Steve , thanks for your time and effort, love your vids very very informative I have a set of D4s on with the Amber lens and by jobe do you get seen excellent product and service , (keep it on the stops) 👍
These videos are very helpful and detailed. They helped me both with installation, and location of a leftover screw after installation ;) and decision of which Denali to buy. Amazing and most recommendable :)
Hi Steve, outstanding presentation and I'm very impressed by these Denali Light Pods,I've got a fair idea which pods I'll fit to my KTM 1290 SAS now. So pleased i found your channel before i went ahead and bought the KTM Power Parts Light Kit...they simply are not in the same universe as the Denali equipment. Looking forward to more videos. All the best.
I myself have a 1290 SA, for me the best combo would be side shooters (Rigid) along with D3 (outfitted with the hybrid trioptic add-on lens). The side shooters are on strobe whenever I approach an intersection, they cover close to 180 degrees, I WILL BE SEEN! And then with the D3s, I WILL SEE without too much of the D7 added bulk.
Cut Me in Half, Lol Denali all the way for me, amazing Lights, amazing Company A Bike Thing I shall see you all 9am tomorrow, so excited about the installation, Cheers guys
Were you saying a D3 driving spot and a fog light combo is the killer package, and when you say DOT/SAE, do you mean as high beams only or also low beams? I'd like to get one light that I can run on low beam and the other triggered with my high beam.
I have always been a Clearwater fan.....but after watching this video......i may have just converted to a Denali fan. Great video Steve...I am now sold on the Denali D3s.....Now to go source a local shop here in Singapore to help me fix a pair up.
Outstanding, very informative and comprehensive video Steve. I really appreciate your work to inform your customer with a great transparency. This is invaluable and I hope to be able soon to order light from you for my new GS 1250. Thank you !
Amazing video. Thanks so much for taking the time and effort. As you mentioned, the stock lighting is woefully inadequate. I'm looking for a small pair I can run all the time to compliment my factory lights and not blind oncoming traffic and a pair of driving lights.
Hi, not sure if anyone ever asked you before: Are all of these Denali lights *and the like), especially the large ones, subject to any kind of regulations? I know that with passenger cars there are some countries that are really picky with regard to the type of lights, their intensity, and especially the way they are mounted. For example if you import a US car into certain countries in Europe or the Middle East you must replace them with European standard assemblies. This has mainly to de with they way the lights are aimmed in such a way as to not blind incoming traffic. So again, just wondering if it is completely legal to simply mount extra lights on a motorcycle without regard to any kind of agencies' regulatory policies.. Thanks much and great video!!!
@@ABIKETHING So I am curious, in the UK, these light pods are allowed to be installed any way one wishes? I have a 2018 RT and beginning to formulate my installation plans for this model.. Thanks much!
First of all, Fantastic video's explaining how everything works and giving each individual customer a better understanding of what they actually need, I'm just about to purchase a brand new r1250gs te , In your opinion should i get the standard battery or the upgrade ? Only things i would be adding is your D7 bundle with sound bomb and maybe a dash cam.
Thank you for this exceptional video editing very well explained, which will allow undecided customers like me to make a final choice. Thank you A bike Thing for everything! Best Denali demo video to date. Hoping soon a TuTo for the installation of the DialDim.
Great video again; i have the DM's as position lights on my R nine T in amber and love them. Thinking about adding some bigger lights down the road.. this video really helps!
What would be best for daytime visibility? I don't ride enough at night to worry about better driving lights and the lights equipped are pretty good anyway.
I have the gen 1 D4s on my Harley which are mounted on the forks almost at level with the headlight, and they are good for night riding. I am thinking of getting another set of D4s to mount on my crash bars upside down. Or maybe interchange with the gen1 D4s on the crashbar and the gen2 D4s on the forks. Or maybe go with the D7 on the forks and D4s on thr crashbar.
Another great video. I have the D4's on the bar I purchased from you. I also have DRL's low at the front wheel. I'm not a huge after dark driver, but it does happen. The DRL's are 50% or 100%... so I keep them at 50. The D4's I have at 20% dipped and 100% full beam. I did not know about the DOT thing, so thank you for that bit of information. I've not hade any issues in Canada... but my use is to be seen, not so much the after dark. Maybe I might need those covers one day, or simple power them off. Someday maybe the DOT approved will make their way into my cart. Regards Brian
@@MarkMcCurdy I use the first gen can smart. each on a different circuit. The DRL are limited to the 2 setting. The d4's are on a different circuit. The newer cansmart offers more options, but what I have works for me.
Hi Steve love to watch ur videos As I m Hayabusa( gen2) I am looking to install Denali s3 spot lights but couldn’t get any better idea how and where pods go . Please give me any idea or make video ?
You did a great comparison job. This video is really helpful. I want to mount D7 on my Ducati Multistrada V2S, there is a way to use it with the original fog light bottom? Thank you!
Thanks Steve, really enjoying your content.. As a person new to cycling, trying to navigate all what's available has been difficult. I bought a new Triumph Tiger 660 Sport a few weeks aga and I'm loving it.. However, the horn and lights leave little to be desired.. One of my instructors told me about Denali.. So, I've already bought the compact sound bomb and tossing between D2's and D3's for the lighting set up.. The bike is relatively new to the market, so there's not a lot of content on how to do those installations.. Anything you can suggest or provide would be greatly appreciated.. All the best.. enjoy your time in the States :)
I really wanted to like the D3 but from what i just watched i didnt like them at all especially on fog version ..D4 though was a surprisingly very good (superb night light driving conditions even better from the D7 ) and a mile better from D3 in my opinion the only issue for me is that i personally dont like the square desighn and of course the massive D7 turning the night into to a day but way big for my taste (no so much in flood effect like the D4 though ).I whould like to see the comparison on OFF - 20% - 100% pettern for better understanding .Very good job nevertheless, my congrats.
Hold fire!! I feel I have not done the D3 justice. Follow up video coming soon. D3’s will have the hybrid lens against the D4s also with hybrid lenses.
Really enjoyed the video, I have a 2022 KLR 650 adventure (factory accessory lights) and I’m looking at the S4’s to mount on the lower brackets that Denali offers, unfortunately the largest light that will fit with that bracket per Denali is the S4. I ride both day and night, and I don’t feel like the stock lights are bright enough, should I get the d4’s or larger and build a bracket that will work with the larger lights?
I'm looking for a review, or product line demo. For the Denali turn signals. Need new turn signals for my KTM 390 ADV. Would like them to have running light option built in.
Hello.I recently bought the D7s and they are amazing. But now when I’m driving on traffic I set up to 10% but I find my self with low light. What is the perfect light pod to work on medium light without affecting other drivers. Greets from portugal
Fikk montert D3 på min R1250R ( med cansmart). Veldig fornøyd, kjører lite i mørket, da vi har midnattsol her i Nord Norge om sommeren. Regner med at jeg blir mer synelig i trafikken nå.
bro amazing videos. soon gona buy africa twin and wondering about additional lights to being see specially in dark days BUT I wanna see more offroad too. Want some wide bright short lights which can do distant lightning too. whats your suggestion?
Well i watched Sam vincent do a install of his denali lights and sound bomb horn. He sai it was about £365. So i thought great. Ill have some of that. Only to find its more like £700.. bit misleading on the bundles. You see it advertised with lights and horn with a price, but then you have to add the horn . So its not really in the bundle. Great system but a bit pricey for me.
Sam bought his gear at a show and way before the prices of everything started getting silly. I have to make the bundles configurable as not everyone wants a soundbomb or a rear light but the discounts are programmed into the bundles.
Excuse my ignorance, but I've eliminated my front turns, but would like to add these(back road living/riding haha). Could I use the existing wires/power from said existing front turn signals wires? Or do these draw too much power?
Felicitaciones por el excelente trabajo con este video Steve!! Ya tenemos más claro que combinación nos interesa tener para nuestras motos. Un saludo desde España!!
If I remove the connector from the d3 pigtail to run it through crash bars, do I need to worry about using the trigger wire if I plan on going straight to an amplink? I don't care about an on/off switch, I just want the lights to come on when I start the bike. What gauge wire do I need to use to splice from the pigtail to the amplink?
Hello, This video was very interesting thank you so much. I have some questions. Close of the end of the video I saw on your laptop like a software or a webpage where is possible to set differents options. In relation to what I seen I would like to know if with this software, it’s possible to turn on 2 led for low beam, then the 4 for hight beam. I think this setup it’s possible with the Dialdim Lighting Controller. I drive rarely with the hight beam and I would like a pattern with which I can drive the day to be better seen, and the night with low beam without disturbing the other people. And sometimes have some hight beam. At the first time I would like to buy the D4 Fog, but when I saw the D4’S and this page on your laptop, I tell me maybe the D4 Fog it’s not the better choice for me. For you, what is the better pattern for my usage ? Thanks in advance, Sorry for my English ☺
First of thanks for a great video! So im looking for something that will improve my night time riding with my kawasaki z900 -2020. I do mostly highway driving and based on your video and what i think will look best on my bike is either the DR1's or D2's. what would you recommend ? im leaning towards the D2's because of the size, but will the light be enough? if it helps i will only use them with highbeam and not as daytime lights. Ride safe ! thanks in advance
A FOLLOW UP VIDEO IS COMING SHORTLY SHOWING THE D4'S AND D3'S SIDE BY SIDE WITH COMPARABLE LENSES.
It would be great to see a comparison with the D3 Hybrid lens to see both the width and distance of the beam.
You’re spot on. I had this further explanation given to me earlier today but this was days after the video was recorded.
Are you satisfied with the new D3’s ?
I just purchased a 2021 r1250gs standard I’m in New York and was thinking of installing the D3’s as my only auxiliary lights. Not sure wether to get the spots or hybrids

You put a lot of effort into this, many thanks.
Excellent!
I think it’s the D4’s for me 👍
Cracking video Steve. Really thorough! Love my S4's. Those D7's are brighter than my future!
With the rate of your YT channel growth I’d argue with that.

Hey Steve……
I am hanging on your every word (& video) as I drive myself nuts obsessing over the choices. Even though I am about to query one or two of your observations for the sake of clarity, I do value your input greatly indeed.
My goal is to acquire:
• the best nighttime driving light at
moderate speeds through deer

I am currently theorizing that the desirable combo for these purposes may be the D4 (Spot) plus the D3 Fogs……taking note of both your vid’s on “Which Lights are Best for You” and “ The D3 & D4”.

Regards
Brian
What do you use to vary the light intensity to 20/50/100?
@@MarkMcCurdy I use the first gen can smart. each on a different circuit. The DRL are limited to the 2 setting. The d4's are on a different circuit. The newer cansmart offers more options, but what I have works for me.
Hi Steve love to watch ur videos
As I m Hayabusa( gen2) I am looking to install Denali s3 spot lights but couldn’t get any better idea how and where pods go . Please give me any idea or make video ?
You did a great comparison job. This video is really helpful. I want to mount D7 on my Ducati Multistrada V2S, there is a way to use it with the original fog light bottom? Thank you!
Thanks for the info ... you have provided clarity. 🇨🇦
This is a very nice and meaningful review. Thank you very much. (I just ordered D3)👍
Thanks Steve for this Important video and this channel 👍🏻
Those D7 looks amazing!
Been waiting for this 👏👏👏
Superb content and looking forward to being a long term customer. Opus Magnum.
Hey Steve….Just great video !!!…. Very comprehensive and objective. Thank you very much !!!
Cheers from Chile !!!
Amazing video, can you wire the S4 onto a simple on/off switch to an independent power accessory hub?
Well demonstrated video Steve. Great Job 👍
Awesome video! Thank you! You helped me make my decision. D3s for me!
funny how they all look same during the daylight test...couldnt tell the diff btw 7,4,1 and 3's
I'm looking for a review, or product line demo. For the Denali turn signals. Need new turn signals for my KTM 390 ADV.
Would like them to have running light option built in.
d7 is an absolute beast!
Thanx Steve! Great video, again! Maybe S4 bundle for my GS12rallye 🤔…
They’re a really great light option aren’t they.
Excellent video review and very helpful in making my decision, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Which one causes permanent cornea damages? I will take two, please
Hello.I recently bought the D7s and they are amazing. But now when I’m driving on traffic I set up to 10% but I find my self with low light. What is the perfect light pod to work on medium light without affecting other drivers. Greets from portugal
The Denali are very well made but their retail price is silly expensive in my view
Great comparison - very valuable. Thanks.
But don't you think using 1st 2 lights should have been installed on Shocker, you will get the light as your shocker move.
Nice video! Thinking about to buy some lights. But i also very curious about the brand of your mirrors.
Mirrors in this video are option 719 mirrors by bmw.
Great video! Informative and enjoyable.
Felicitaciones por el excelente trabajo con este video Steve!! Ya tenemos más claro que combinación nos interesa tener para nuestras motos. Un saludo desde España!!
Thank you.
Hello,
This video was very interesting thank you so much.
Thanks in advance,
Sorry for my English ☺
I’m looking for some Denali lights for my 2017 Africa twin
Hello there I am interested in d 3 model but I don’t know what else should I buy apart from the lights for my transalp. 750. What else should I need ?
First of thanks for a great video!
So im looking for something that will improve my night time riding with my kawasaki z900 -2020. I do mostly highway driving and based on your video and what i think will look best on my bike is either the DR1's or D2's. what would you recommend ? im leaning towards the D2's because of the size, but will the light be enough? if it helps i will only use them with highbeam and not as daytime lights.
Ride safe !
thanks in advance
Fantastic review thank you we’ll explained
Thank you very much for this detailed presentation, still hesitant, should I go for the D7 or look at the Clearwater equivalent?
Any decisions yet?
