You're wrong about Sky Keep not having a boss. Girahim and Demise re the bosses of Sky Keep, because it becomes part of the Sealed Grounds/Sealed Temple. Actually I'd go as far as to say that it's like the Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks final dungeons, because you go there multiple times to reseal Imprisoned. Since Sky Keep is basically the cork of the Sealed Grounds/Temple they both come together and form one structure Hence it's all one dungeon, plus the fact the Sky Keep structure and the Sealed Grounds design is implemented like they were once together as one in "it's," origin. That's why I count it all as the final dungeon. That's why I Consider Girahim/Demise not only as the final bosses but also the bosses of Sky Keep/Sealed Grounds/Sealed Temple. It's all one thing!!
In Twilight Princess there's dead soldiers you can see inside of Hyrule Castle while in wolf form, and they point you towards Ganon. That detail elevates TP's final dungeon to the #1 spot for me
It’s part of the training to be ‘The Bad Guy’. If you don’t put the effort into being over the top, you won’t get the promotion and your underlings won’t take you seriously. If you’re not willing to make an intimidating first (well, third if you include his dream) impression, you’re clearly not in it for ‘The Cause’.
OoT and TP definitely deserve their places on this list, you guys got that right for sure. The organ music at the end of OoT on that staircase will always be amazing. The ambiance is perfect.
I would have put twilight princess as 1. The main reason being this was the last game to be made on the Nintendo Gamecube and it was the ultimate triumph and tribute to the system. That dungeon was PERFECT!
I thought Gloom's Approach was incredible. Especially because I went there really early, and I was terrifyingly under-powered for it. I've been playing Zelda since the NES days, and yet TotK really stood out for me with how foreboding it was at the ending.
Glooms approach being so low is criminal. I don’t think any of the other entries here is anywhere near as good as it in regards to music, build up and writing. Coming across the mural and being able to uncover the rest of it to find out that it was always Zelda’s fate to turn into the Light Dragon and then descending further down with the music getting more and more ominous was absolute perfection…and then we’re also met with what’s easily the best final boss of the franchise.
You are absolutely right! It was terrifying to get through all the endless way to find Ganindorf! And the Final Boss fight is just the BEST FINAL battle of all Zelda games…
It's because tryhards think that botw and totk pale in comparison. But from my perspective the final descent on TOTK is perhaps the best setup or cinematography I've ever witnessed in any form of media and wipes anything else right off. The music adding more layers the further you go until you descend onto the entrance. Then fighting a massive army with all your sages. Then the beautiful intro to Ganondorf with that eeriee slow paced build with his fight feeling almost intimate. It's just you and Ganondorf clashing swords. No ott powers then the beautiful transition to his next phase which then feels like an actual boss battle because of the theatrics rather than a one on one clean fight between rivals without the glamour so less gritty and more pompus with the allies coming in again. Then the dragon scene and that beautiful music that plays just as you staring across this behemoth red dragon that dwarves over Zelda making it feel impossible and you get one of the most feel good completed endings to a beautiful two series adventure in this hyrule. I for one. Have not encountered in anything in my life, a game that truly made me feel I was there. The ASMR of links equipment. The music. The beauty of the thunderstorm you enter and the fifth sage. The game is a marvel for me and I don't think I'll ever encounter a beautiful laced piece of art with amazing visuals and some of the best music I've ever heard that dragged me into every scene and moment. That's why for me, tears of the kingdom and breath of the wild for me are one game from start to finish. Just done in two acts. 🥰🤙
You said that Sky Keep is lower on the list for being disconnected from the final battle, yet, the Ganon battle in AlttP is just as disconnected from Ganon’s Tower. All you have to do after Sky Keep is walk through the gate of time after the cutscene- similarly, all you have to do is fall into the Pyramid after Ganon’s Tower. The final portion of the Tower of Spirits is also the *most* disconnected from its final battle in the whole series, but you still noted the Malladus fight. That being said, I didn’t really oppose the placement. Just thought it was odd you’d bring that up because it’s not the only instance in this list.
I always thought of Skykeep in “Skyward Sword” as a two part final dungeon. Completing the slide puzzle and obtaining the Triforce is the first half, with the Triforce being the dungeon item. The second half is Skykeep falling to the ground with Link having to fight through waves of enemies before fighting the sub-boss Ghirahim. Then it’s an immediate final boss fight with Demise.
TP has some of the best dungeons, but Hyrule Castle is purly a mast-ah-peice! It is engaging and uses basically every item you've already gotten. Chef's kiss. 😙👌
Minish Cap‘s story was goated. Vaati was such a great villain and his final dungeon was such a great touch. If they’d re-release it as a Windwaker-type 3D game, it would blow people away.
I wholeheartedly agree with you, but unfortunately I don't think Nintendo would care enough to pour that much effort into remaking Minish Cap in that degree, especially since it didn't get an actual remake yet
That’s 75% of youtube anymore. UA-cam was always a ridiculous way for people to make money since it adds literally no value to society as a whole, but now people don’t even put forth any effort to it, they just get an AI to do it for them.
Zelda is usually more focused on puzzles and adventure than combat so most of the final dungeons emphasizing the latter can seem low-effort. LttP Ganon's Tower is probably my favorite for being a lengthy gauntlet of pretty much every enemy and obstacle in the game (plus the first 4 bosses) without becoming too labyrinthine like the first 2 games.
I would not rank BOTW's castle so high. I don't even see it as a real dungeon. And it misses actual puzzles. Also most of it can be skipped which I don't like. But I do like the atmosphere though. I would personally have put WW above OOT and TP at first place. Also SS's final dungeon was very cleverly designed.
temple of the ocean king will always be in the top 3 for me, wonderful ambiance and a unique concept of stealth not commonly used in other zelda dungeons. plus the vibe is just perfect, especially considering it was on DS.
You can skip through literally every fight. Only thing that saves it is the Dragon fight, especially when Ganondorf himself is just the Phantom Ganons but slightly harder.
All of those elements you listed are incredible and some of the best, but design-wise, it’s not even really a final dungeon… moreso just a final stretch. Despite the amazing build up, it probably shouldn’t be placed much higher.
Unpopular opinion: TotK is mid at best. Both TotK and BotW are meh. They just made a giant sandbox trying to turn Zelda into the exact same thing every other franchise. You don’t need openworld sandboxes if you make a good game.
@@remyoconnor3141They aren’t trying to turn it into open world, its what the devs always wanted to do but were limited by hardware, and it has similar elements akin to Zelda 1
Watch Mojo LOVES to just keep putting OOT on it's high horse. I Love OOT, and played through it in full four times but they love to use the nostalgia factor to place it at 1 every time. I think twilight princess deserved number 1.
I hated that BOTW stopped the tradition of themed dungeons and incredibly unique and memorable musical themes for each one...But I have to say it almost paid off the first time I heard that incredible medley inside Hyrule Castle at the end of the game. Waves of nostalgia and excitement when that happened.
Of course the typical nostalgia bait for Ocarina of Time why else would Ganon's Castle top the list? In my opinion Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess should swap places because Hyrule Castle is simply superior to Ganon's Castle due to its much darker atmosphere and its 4 phase boss fight
Believe me or not with my hot take, I love temple of the ocean king. I beat it multiple times on my too many to count replays of phantom hourglass. I love this game and maybe nostalgia is the main factor of me liking this dungeon I can still beat it however many times
Pretty much agree with the top 3. 1 and 2 can be interchangeable though. I basically came to see comments of people complaining of the placements of OOT, BOTW, or TOTK. Not as bad as I was expecting so far.
Ocarina of Time, Skyward Sword, Twilight Princess, The Wind waker HD, A Link Between Worlds and Breath of the Wild are the only Zelda games that I've been played and my favourite Final Dungeons are im Skyward Sword, Teilight Princess, The Wind Waker HD, A Link Between Worlds and Botw I need to play Totk someday! 😊❤
Yeah TOTK isn't as good as BOTW. It's quite off balanced in terms of ability usage and the puzzles seemed dumbed down by quite a lot.... There are still good ones but most are bad to just okay.
I still don't understand the hate towards the temple of the ocean king. I thought it hat some kind of adrenaline push bc you get one shooted( to some extend) and the puzzles, challenges were fun imo. And introducing time pressure is also unique. Additionally having to play a certain level again with new abilities that extensively decrease the clear time for a level is extremely satisfying
Yes! Ocarina and Twilight Definitely have the two best final dungeons! I 100% agree with that. That being said however I do think the final dungeons from Skyward and Wind Wakee should have been ranked a little higher. Sky Keep by far is one of the most, if not the most challenging final dungeons in the Zelda Series. I think it should have ranked 4th, or even 3rd place, but thats just me.
When watching this, I was afraid you might include the final dungeon of Echoes of Wisdom (whatever that is) on this list. Yeah, this video was released a few days before that game's release, but you might've gotten a copy early from Nintendo. Anyway, a lot of these dungeons do a great service to their respective games, Ganon's Castle and Dark Hyrule Castle might be my favourites here.
I feel Room of Rites (or whatever the correct name for the thing at the end of a combined Orcale Run is) would also qualify as a final dungeon, but since it consists of just two empty rooms and one annoying puzzle before the boss, it would be pretty low on the list.
TP > OoT significantly. Hyrule castle is probably the best part of TP (that or snowpeak ruins) Ganons castle isn’t even within the top 5 best parts of OoT.
I found Hyrule Castle in BotW to be just... fine. I wouldn't have put it so high up on the list. It's better than the Divine Beasts, but I didn't care for the map system in the game and the ruined castle ascetics. It just felt too empty. Not enough flavor. You can skip most enemy fights. The only thing challenging about it were the guardians on the outside. I would have put it around number 10 or so to be with Gloom's Approach. At least Gloom's Approach was a gauntlet of strong enemies.
Yeah, there are lots of "dungeons" in this list that I don't view as dungeons, like Onyx's Castle, The Black Tower, The Moon, and Gloom's Approach; at most they're mini-dungeons. They should've called the video ranking the final areas (most of them are at least).
I feel the same about the Black Tower compared to the one before it since the tower is more like just running up stairs without the “Hut-hut-hut-hut!” versus an actual large proper dungeon. This is more of a list of castles to storm for the final gambit.
OoT is one of my favorite games ever and it shouldn't even be in the top 3 of best final dungeons. TP and SS are 1 and 2, respectively, bc that reason for knocking SS is ridiculous. There's literally just a long cutscene separating the dungeon from the finale gauntlet.
It might not have many great puzzles but Glooms approach is so good at the buildup as you go down, the themes/music, and the best final boss in Zelda Edit: Also Sky Keep should easily be top 3 and Zelda 2 is terrible
Some of the placements feel off A Links awakening should be disqualified as a maze is not a suitable dungeon Skyward sowrd sky keep should be higher since your still technically in the dungeon as you fight Ghirham since at no point do you go in the overworked in-between the cutscenes Windwaker is overrated because half the dungeon is almost copy paste from previous levels. As for ocarina of time unless you are on master mode I wouldn't put it no1 The rest of the placements are alright but they may not be since I haven't played all of them yet
I do not agree with Twilight Princess, I love the game overall, but Hyrule castle was boring imo, like it didnt have any personality, but again The boss fights was amazing. Lorule Castle is definietly underrated, the whole game is.
You know where the legend of Zelda or Carina of time. The last level you fight getting the dungeon, I don't think that costume was out hard, it was hard, but it is not hard as you play it out to be in the video. Some of the other ones, yes, but I don't think that should have been number one.
Ugh, ocarina of time being number 1. It’s not bad, but I would still feel like breaking it into sections that are themed after previous dungeons make’s it feel less original and like its own thing. Definitely prefer several other dungeons over it
Link’s awakening or Seasons should be the worst, because they are barely dungeons at all. Ranking ocean palace there just seems to be malice, at least it is an actual dungeon with new content at the end. After that though I think I’d put Wind walker’s final dungeon near the bottom. Because I HATE boss rushes
@@prapp1974 what a stupid argument. I guess all Zelda dungeons are bad because they all follow the same "find keys and use dungeon item on everything" design 🙄
I would argue The Moon should be rock bottom on the grounds that you either A) skip everything and go straight to a boss fight or B) just do Hide ‘n Seek 4 times so you can get a mask to sweep the boss. Most people prefer the former for the challenge Majora offers without the Fierce Deity Mask making you OP. TotK should be higher especially over BotW since you don’t really have that much limitation just to get to the top to reach Calamity Ganon whereas the Dark Depths actually has restrictive areas of movement which leaves you more likely to encounter an engagement with enemies just to get there. I was honestly on edge when I finally was ready to go for it as I had no idea what to expect or what might pop out suddenly given those damn gloom hands.😖 The only thing BotW has over TotK is the aesthetic of the castle vs. creepy cave. My one complaint about _Twilght Princess’_ Hyrule Castle is the architectural design is so profoundly lacking; It’s just a tower!😟 They must have been really proud of that ballroom that you spend a good amount of time in before briefly getting to see more depths within it before it’s nothing more than stairs-landing-stairs-landing puzzling your way up them until you reach the top. There’s honestly more to do _outside_ the castle itself than within. And I say all that loving that one as a novel take on final dungeons since the castle is still (mostly) functional and not twisted or damaged. I’ve never really considered _Four Swords_ one that counts since it was a B-side to the LttP DX game and you can only play it if you have others with each their own to join with you which is kinda hard to do these days. _Four Swords Adventure_ at least has a story, single player, and isn’t randomly generated.
@remyoconnor3141 Well that’s a rather half-ass response. Are you disagreeing that there are only two choices on the moon: play hide-‘n-seek 4 times just to get a mask to sweep the boss or go straight to the boss and have a little challenge to him? Or do you disagree that BotW at least has a more appealing final dungeon than TotK? Or maybe you disagree on the fact TotK subjectively gave me reservations as I moved through the final leg because something unexpected could pop out at me and I had to be cautious? Or maybe I just didn’t give the correct opinions on the simplistic, not very elaborate architecture in _Twilight Princess_ for the castle or whether _Four Swords_ counts as a proper title compared to GameCube one? But if it’s good enough for you then, I hard disagree on your entire response…all 6 words of it.🤨
@@drpuffington_ if someone can explain to me why without using the word "nostalgia", or going on about "mah childhood!", I would be very interested in listening.
I don’t care about rankings because all these opinion lists get a bit silly but how could you possibly cover TOTK without even mentioning Demon Dragon? Absolute fail.
The last dungeons from the game boy zeldas are all wrong. Oracle of ages : acient tomb. Oracle of seasons : sword shield dungeon and links awakening : turtle rock
I really hate when people play up Ocarina of Time entirely on Nostalgia. It was my least favorite of the 3d zelda titles and it was sorely worse than its successor, Majora's Mask. The best was definitely Twilight Princess but Ocarina of Time 100% shouldn't have even touched top 5
The TOTK Ganondorf fight is overrated, mostly down to how much you can cheese the fight. Also, BOTW/TOTK swordplay is incredibly boring and frustrating, and it really shows in the boss fight
People need to stop giving Ocarina of Time so much praise. We've had several new Zelda games since, and most of them are better games all around. Hell, even Skyward Sword has it beat in a few ways. I played OoT when it came out. It was okay. Not great, just okay. None of you are ready for this: Ocarina came out 26 YEARS AGO! Zelda fans, let's face the truth here. Ocarina of Time DOES NOT HOLD UP TO MODERN GAMES! Not even Master Quest. All the praise it gets compared to modern Zelda these days is purely based on nostalgia and not an objective critique of the franchise. Take a step back and look at all the great moments in Zelda with unbiased eyes. The fractured pedestal Ocarina stands on is held up by the nostalgic critics and fans who have unobjectively compared every entry in the franchise to this one game that came out several generations ago, forcing themselves to look down on much better games because of their bias. Technology and the gaming industry has evolved significantly since then, and thus so has the Zelda series. Even going as far back as its own era, Majora's Mask was a better game than Ocarina, and there have been games that are even better than Majora. Paying homage to classics is one thing, but trying to keep an outdated and outclassed game relevant through nostalgic bias is an insult to the great games that have followed it. Wind Waker for Switch 2.
Ocarina of time is simply the perfect video game to me. Nobody will ever be able to quite capture that ever again. The greatest and most important video game ever made in my opinion
Is that a real person talking? Like, sometimes it sounds like it, then there is an odd pronunciation, or a weird pause, or weird upwards lilts on certain words... Like, listen to the way he says "Sky Keep" the first time...
seriously man? its a great game (up until the water temple) and is also the first 3d zelda game, and its a load of fun for a 1998 game. not to blame your preferences but i just think of oot whenever someone says zelda.

TP > OoT significantly. Hyrule castle is probably the best part of TP (that or snowpeak ruins) Ganons castle isn’t even within the top 5 best parts of OoT.
With Echoes of Wisdom out I think it’s somewhere in the middle of this list
I found Hyrule Castle in BotW to be just... fine. I wouldn't have put it so high up on the list. It's better than the Divine Beasts, but I didn't care for the map system in the game and the ruined castle ascetics. It just felt too empty. Not enough flavor. You can skip most enemy fights. The only thing challenging about it were the guardians on the outside.
I would have put it around number 10 or so to be with Gloom's Approach. At least Gloom's Approach was a gauntlet of strong enemies.
Cadence of Hyrule had a pretty neat ending dungeon
Triforce Heros was almost my first Zelda game when it came out. So glad I didn’t get that Christmas gift.
Gotta say agree with the top 3. Is our SS at 4 or 5
The wind fish's egg in Link's Awakening isn't dungeon. Consider the 8th Dungeon instead, as that's actually a dungeon.
I wonder which place Echoes of Wisdom will get on the list.
Best list in a longgg time
I HATED SS puzzle for the final dungeon. Moving the rooms around was annoying haha
Ocarina will always be my favorite game in the Franchise , but in terms of final boss/dungeon Twilight Princess reigns supreme .
Ocarina and a Link Between worlds comes to mind.
and Ganons Tower from ALTTP is a terrfic test of skill
TP is the best for me
The first final dungeon in the original does have a much tougher version in the second quest
I how the final dungeon in Echoes of Wisdom is going to fare?
Why is the audio quality so weird?
OoT is one of my favorite games ever and it shouldn't even be in the top 3 of best final dungeons. TP and SS are 1 and 2, respectively, bc that reason for knocking SS is ridiculous. There's literally just a long cutscene separating the dungeon from the finale gauntlet.
The voice over for this video is AI generated.
All you have to do is listen.
lol nah, it’s me. Just had audio issues
Wind Waker being that low is criminal
It might not have many great puzzles but Glooms approach is so good at the buildup as you go down, the themes/music, and the best final boss in Zelda
Edit: Also Sky Keep should easily be top 3 and Zelda 2 is terrible
The last 3 dungeons are by far the best in the franchise.
What about the Room of Rites?
Some of the placements feel off
A Links awakening should be disqualified as a maze is not a suitable dungeon
Skyward sowrd sky keep should be higher since your still technically in the dungeon as you fight Ghirham since at no point do you go in the overworked in-between the cutscenes
Windwaker is overrated because half the dungeon is almost copy paste from previous levels.
As for ocarina of time unless you are on master mode I wouldn't put it no1
The rest of the placements are alright but they may not be since I haven't played all of them yet
Its just me or the narrator voice is cracky and like he is under the water
Probably a bad microphone or smthing
it sounds like ai to me, go to 8:55, dodgy as hell
What's up with the audio?
I do not agree with Twilight Princess, I love the game overall, but Hyrule castle was boring imo, like it didnt have any personality, but again The boss fights was amazing.
Lorule Castle is definietly underrated, the whole game is.
Personally I like the Temple of the Ocean King.
You know where the legend of Zelda or Carina of time. The last level you fight getting the dungeon, I don't think that costume was out hard, it was hard, but it is not hard as you play it out to be in the video. Some of the other ones, yes, but I don't think that should have been number one.
Why does your voice sound robotic or digitized? Anybody else hear it?
The most hard final dungeon is from Zelda's Aventure
Sound of the video is so strange
Ugh, ocarina of time being number 1. It’s not bad, but I would still feel like breaking it into sections that are themed after previous dungeons make’s it feel less original and like its own thing. Definitely prefer several other dungeons over it
Spectacle Rock is Ganon's final lair in the first Zelda. Not Death Mountain.
ROFL ... you put TOTK on 8th ? you have never played one of them, right ?
Put TOTK’s shlong back in its pants 💀 people always glaze this game when it’s got the worst dungeons in the franchise
@@prapp1974The worst is a stretch the water temple in totk sucks but lightning temple is amazing and the other three are fine B tier dungeons
@@prapp1974this video is about the finale dungeon and the build up in this game to Ganondorf is amazing
still not a dungeon in the classic sense tho
@@heraforence8707 literally everything dungeon has the same boring concept of opening all the locks. But I agree with the lighting temple
@@prapp1974 what a stupid argument. I guess all Zelda dungeons are bad because they all follow the same "find keys and use dungeon item on everything" design 🙄
Why does the narrator sound like he’s underwater in this video?
Hard disagree on everything you said.
But if it’s good enough for you then, I hard disagree on your entire response…all 6 words of it.🤨
Owners of the Triforce did this and it was a better video
erm, actually, LTTP's final dungeon is Palace of the Four Sword hrrrrrrrr 🤓
#1 Ocarina of Time, what a surprise. 🙄
I mean. It's the best game ever made soooo...
@@drpuffington_ if someone can explain to me why without using the word "nostalgia", or going on about "mah childhood!", I would be very interested in listening.
Sounds like the exact same as the ps5 only with a different look
I don’t care about rankings because all these opinion lists get a bit silly but how could you possibly cover TOTK without even mentioning Demon Dragon? Absolute fail.
The last dungeons from the game boy zeldas are all wrong. Oracle of ages : acient tomb. Oracle of seasons : sword shield dungeon and links awakening : turtle rock
Def agree with the top 3, but the order... eh...
Yall did NOT just rank TotK below top 10 😂😂😂😂
NES Zelda Level 9 will always be tops for me
Criminal that it was rated at 13
Gloom's approach is not a dungeon
Gabon’s castle was a disappointment for me even when I was a child. It’s just not in the same level as the other ones
Bro sounds like an AI
I really hate when people play up Ocarina of Time entirely on Nostalgia. It was my least favorite of the 3d zelda titles and it was sorely worse than its successor, Majora's Mask. The best was definitely Twilight Princess but Ocarina of Time 100% shouldn't have even touched top 5
The TOTK Ganondorf fight is overrated, mostly down to how much you can cheese the fight. Also, BOTW/TOTK swordplay is incredibly boring and frustrating, and it really shows in the boss fight
it's ALLLWAYS Ocarina.. I don't know why I ever expect anything different from WatchMojo.. Ocarina... Nirvana, Dark Knight and Heath Ledger 🙄
Glooms approach is too low…
Hot take but the sky keep sucks, should've been a lot lower
OoT🔥
Can we stop nostalgia simping over OoT 😓 Seriously, it’s one of the few LoZ games i don't really care to play a second or third time 🤣
seriously man? its a great game (up until the water temple) and is also the first 3d zelda game, and its a load of fun for a 1998 game. not to blame your preferences but i just think of oot whenever someone says zelda.
Gloom's Approach so low? I thought it was peak Nintendo, especially in its atmosphere
Hello
What's up with the Voice over on this video? Sounds like they're using AI to clone the narrator's voice instead of paying him as a VA. I don't like it at all
Gloom's Approach is easily in the top 10, this list is flawed.
The AI voice sounds terrible
