Suppressor on an FN FAL? How??

- In this video we will talk about the suppressor mounting options on an FN FAL rifle. The rifle I used is the DSA OSW with a Surefire muzzle brake. The suppressor is a Surefire SOCOM762 (in .30 cal).

There is hardly any recoil. And it's extremely smooth to run. I would not have expected that from such a short barrel - 7.62x51mm usually has some kick to it.

It's interesting that a different Gas Plug is needed, the Gas Regulation is so adjustable as is one would think that would suffice at a low/ near cutoff level to run no problem. Great video bru!
Well, the suppressor plug allows me to finetune the gas setting on my rifle and makes it run super smooth.

when you cut the barrel off on a fal an inch in front of the gas block you have to drill out the gas port with a 1/8 drill bit and it cycles violently.i cut down a 21 to 16 inchs and I wish I hadnt.maybe18.

Thanks, there will be a lot more content out in the future regarding FALs (and my LM5 and 6 clones). The floor plate retainers are bent on the 30rd Bren mag, so gotta figure out a fix for that.
@@thefalguy9848 either bend them back into place, mayb try to replace them with a silar plate, or put some rubber quick pull tabs on the base of the mags? Sorry, i dont have any experience wit them so im sure u will find a better fix than any of that

@@grizzlyman5206 yep. They all will get their time suppressed. I got a few other projects in the pipeline before I will revisit the suppression topic again.
The full size fal suppressed with it’s 21” barrel will be long as hell. 😂 I kind of want to build an FAL of an IMBEL kit, but I do want a surefire suppressor installed on it as well. FAL builders I’ve talked to say that the dsa barrels are fine, but the IMBEL barrels are better. Dsa barrels typically have the 1-10 twist and you can get barrels with the correct threading for surefire suppressor adapters. Is it worth using a DSA barrel in order to use the suppressor?
@@justsomeguy922r3 if you plan on using a suppressor on your FAL, go with a DSA barrel. That's my plan too. I want to get my surefire can on my 21" rifle.
If you are unsure about to suppress it, go with the Imbel barrel. But if you properly install the DSA barrel and adjust the gas system to the rounds you're shooting, the DSA barrel will be good enough for you.

I would go with a 1 to 6 LPO for the FN. In light the 7.62 has the legs to go out nicely beyond 300 m
I got a 1-4 LPVO on my 18" recce rifle. I found the 11" FN too inaccurate to merrit an LPVO. That's why I only run a prism optic on it. I'll do a comparrison between accuracy of different FNs soon

I have a large interest in these guns, should I get one? My average shooting distances are 25m-300m what length do you recommend I am more than sure I won't throw a can on it.
I would recommend a 16 or 18" FAL for these distances. The OSW is great however it is limited in terms of accuracy long range. I get the best results out of my 18" Recce rifle with the LPVO mounted on it. However, my Para with 16" and the EOTech and magnifier is a superb setup as well and has not disappointed me yet!

Hey FAL GUY, I just shot my first rounds through my osw 12" FAL today suppressed. It was amazing except for one problem, there was an insane amount of gas to the face/eyes. I was using the suppressor gas plug without the additional bushings. Did you have to switch to the 2nd or 3rd bushing to get the gas to the face to go away?
I'll check for you. I did insert a bushing though to avoud gases hitting my face/ eyes

No it does not work. And also not recommended by the manufacturer. So I keep the spare gas plug (non-suppressor one) inside the pistol grip of my rifle
Is your Surefire Brake in 9/16x24 LH?
It's 5/8-24 if I remember correctly
