- Vanderbilt and South Carolina played the second game of their weekend series in the 2021 College Baseball Season, and Jack Leiter threw a no hitter!
Covering sports in a unique way since 2018.
If you’re looking for a place that can educate you with commentary on top of high quality edits, this is the place for you! I’ve covered Baseball (MLB, NCAA, LLWS), Football (NFL, NCAA), Basketball (NBA, NCAA), Hockey (NHL), Softball (NCAA), and much more!
I make my videos on the HP Spectre x360. I use Adobe Premiere Rush to edit, which allows me to commentate and efficiently splice up clips in a high quality way.
One of my favorite accomplishments is revolutionizing the way sports channels create thumbnails. I started making them with team logos on the left, and a game snapshot on the right, and I’ve gotten almost all of my video views with that style.
I have a combined 4 years of experience as a Baseball & Basketball Play by Play announcer, which is where I learned my skills for commentary/breakdowns.

Vandy baseball: First no-hitter since 2019
All other programs usually: First no hitter ever
That’s not gas, that’s leiter fluid.
That’s a great comment
@@miguelpastor8367 you know it
IKR
4.26 is when he uses the spider tack….lol I’m sure his dad taught him that trick
@@giantsfan1259 lmao it’s just a casual thing now.
It’s incredible what this guy can do at this level of ball
I only played up to my sophomore team in high school, but I appreciate baseball more as I get older. It honestly gets better with age.
u gonna play again
Y’all talking about how big the zone was like y’all didn’t just watch him blow ⛽️ by them for 9 innings.
😂😂😂
That umpire was extremely generous with the outside strike....some of those simply were not strikes. But at least he was consistent.
Zone was huge, low strikes too
3:51 wasn’t even close yet he called it a strike
Even yesterday’s game the zone was a bit how ya going
Yeah, maybe. But when you’re consistently hitting that same spot, have good pace, good body language by the 3Rd inning you usually end up earning that call. That’s what happened here. Umpires respect that
Remember that we are also off to the right of the pitcher. So things that might not look like strikes to us might actually be strikes when you’re head on
South Carolina’s pitcher was on fire too!
Ikr!!!
dominant pitching but the zone was definitely pretty big
The Ump stayed consistent with his zone though. A good pitcher pushes his limits and finds ways to get what he wants. Great performance staying at 94-97
@@robertpollard4571 the stuff was most certainly dominant, but the umpire’s liberal zone most certainly worsened the situation for the hitters.
@@Underratedmen yes but a majority of the time the hitter gets the advantage so giving a college pitcher a little bit of leeway is kind of good. Also as a hitter, you have to learn to adjust to those types of strike zones.
@@robertpollard4571 what?!?! Hahaha...great college hitters hit .400 and they’re very rare. That’s failing 6/10 times. Saying “the hitter gets the advantage” is laughable.
@@Underratedmen they’re high level batters that need to adjust to strike zones. Umpires aren’t robots that do the same thing every time. Umpires 100% tend to give more to the batter due to the fact that they’re facing 90+ mph pitching that can be placed wherever they want. The umpires are looking to make the pitchers lives a little bit harder due to the fact that they have the most control of the game. That benefits the batter
This kid is unreal. He and Rocker should be ready for a rotation spot in the MLB on day 1.
CJ Rodriguez. The MLB franchise that gives him a shot will look pretty damn brilliant.
That young man can receive better than any catcher in college baseball right now.
Looks like Vandy has best pitching staff in Nation again
just him and kumar rocker are better than pretty much anyone’s pitching
They have the best 1-2 but Ms State has the best pitching staff in the nation. It’s so deep it’s unreal
They only have two better than state. Mississippi state bullpen is 20 times better and our starters don’t have too pitch 115 pitches a game
@@Thegeneralms1 1-2 is all it takes
@@adamperry7848 not when there is a 3 game series or you get deep into the playoffs.
Man Leiter is just a beast plain and simple. 👏👏👏
When you let the first base runner of the game get on base, the last thing you’re thinking about (as a starting pitcher) is, “how do I turn this into a no hitter🤔”
This is amazing! As a baseball fan, you live for these moments
smh vandy announcers don't even have the courtesy to not say the words "no-hitter" in the middle of their guy doing the thing
Those guys are the sec network announcers not vandy's
@@adamperry7848 thank god the vandy announcers are 🚮
announcers never do that cause if you are just tuning in you'd be hella confused
@@zachmurray3606 theyre so awful, makes it hard to watch
you clearly have never played baseball, you never say no hitter while it's going on otherwise you jinx it. guarantee his teammates didn't say it before it was over too
Holy hell you are fast
the fact that he's following his dad's footsteps is pretty cool to watch.
It’s either leiter or rocker going #1 overall this year for the draft if not then I’ll cry
Gunna be rocker just cause he’s been 1 for a while and has been amazing. So has jack but still
Leiter only a sophomore,so maybe after next season
@@adamperry7848 Leiter is draft eligible this year
@@adamperry7848 it’s not football you can enter the draft as a sophomore with certain requirements lol
@HOFCapBadge you do have to be a junior traditionally but he’s eligible because of Covid
Rocker + Leiter. Name a better duo in college baseball, I’ll wait
Are you still waiting
Grew up playing ball with his dad and uncles! All outstanding ball players. Jack reminds me of their oldest MLB pitcher, Kurt. But AL was the most recognized. Great times
So fun to watch
Leiter and Rocker are good enough to carry Vandy all the way. Good luck everyone else.
apparently you cant with the CWS if nobody on your team can hit
No they aren’t lol. Bednar > Rocker
A lot of comments about how WIDE the zone was. Doesn't matter. As long as he was consistent and called it the same on both sides..it's all good!! Hitters should recognize how it's being called early in the game and adjust accordingly. As such, a DOMINANT PERFORMANCE by Leiter!!!
Well, it does matter, it’s just not unfair or biased to one team. This was a pitchers box, a small box is a hitters box.
IF " it’s just not unfair or biased to one team. " then well doesnts matter Dumb @$$. >@@parkerlake5337
so quick w it
Really impressive. Looks like he even missed spots and guys still weren't onto him... Reminds me of Sonny Gray.
He reminds me of al Leiter for some rsn 🤔🤔
Rocker and Leiter are the best college pitching duo ever
UCLA back then have Cole and Bauer
@@grecoryaracena9388 I said what I said
@@grecoryaracena9388 i remember we played UCLA in the championship in 2010 and they never even pitched Bauer for some reason
Leiter and rocker are def gonna be first round draft picks and prob first and second overall draft pics they are unreal and on the same team
The pitcher reminds me of Young Sonny Gray
Damn wheels you did it again
What a difference a tear makes!!
South Carolina’s pitchers curve ball was filthy.
Great stuff👍
Might be one of the best college pitching matchups thru the first 7
a very generous strike zone
I never seen a catcher yam the ball to first like that before 😂😂
Leiter and Rocker are just so impressive. These guys are literally 2 top of the rotation MLB guys who just happen to be pitching in college instead 😂
@Will Turner I don’t care how old you are, that stuff is filthy wether your in the bigs or not. I believe they could both pitch in the MLB right now, especially Leiter his fastball is just electric
They both locate upper 90’s with wipe out sliders, scouts are literally drooling over these guys and it wouldn’t surprise me one bit if they go 1-2 in the draft.
@@zeusdeuce7438 fr Leiter is deff gonna go at the very least top 5
@Will Turner Hey give them a couple years in the minors, I'd bet everything I have on Kumar dominating. He was a first-rounder in highschool who happened to want to get an education first.
My gosh this umpires zone was wiiiiiide 👀
Used to watch his dad on the Blue Jays. Rooting for the kid.
I used to live on the UES and in grad school I would spend the weekends studying in this coffee/cafe spot called Effies. Al would be in there with his son and I would here them going through all the box scores and pitching matchups for the day. Being a baseball junkie I thought it was awesome. This was 2009/2010 so Jack was prob 10. Pretty cool to fast forward 10/11 years and see this.
Dude got perfect mechanics the ball just exits like its shot from a cannon
Awesome😎
lol vandy’s starting qb caught that one homerun in the tank hoodie
I wonder how Marc is feeling right about now
Big strike zone. A lot of pitches too.
Still can’t believe jack leiter hasn’t worked out in the minors
Love how the kid at 2:50 is standing out of the batters box with his back foot and no call by the umps. He could be touching the line but he appears to be out.
gonna look good with the Tigers!!!
Here’s to hoping he can keep his arm healthy
So, unless I missed something, if he hadn't of walked the first batter of the game, this would have been a perfect game? What a SHAME. A no no is still baller though
I knew it was going to happen.
A goal for me to get put up on this UA-cam when I play college ball 😎
Was his only walk the one in the 1st inning? If so this could have easily been a perfect game, that might have been a strike.
Future second pick for the rangers
Are u gonna upload the FSU vs Miami game?
I guess no one has seen him pitch on Carolina. He elevated his fb ALOT. In every game I have seen him in. If they laid off it, the results would be very different
10:29 what a hanger lmao
Great pitching performance. Smooth compact delivery. Terrible Home plate umpire job with the biggest zone ever. completely expanded side to side and above and below zone.
i hit a double off of him one game in HS. I think career VS him I was 1 for 11 against him.... 7ks.... he accounted for 3/4 of my strikeouts my senior year...
A Future Red sox Pitcher ❤️
Only if they get by the Pirates, Rangers and Tigers first......
the umps LOVE vandy
Not sure what the ump was looking like on the pitch for strike 3 for the first SC at bat in the 8th
i mean hes shown that hes one of the top pitchers in college, but man that strike zone was massive lmao
Yeah, that 13th K was the worst one.
Hahaha' please stop
If im vandy coach im making jack leiter throw 4 to 5 innings max now so he can protect that arm man
defense was pretty great too fr.
3:51 brutal call
It's almost like Vanderbilt has a team full of scholarship players when all other teams have 4.5 scholarships. How they ever lose is game is the question.
Every baseball team has 11.7 scholarships, not 4.5
If he doesn't go number 1 in the draft I hope the Rangers take him at 2. This kid's a stud.
Leiter will get the highest signing bonus ever.
That might go to his teammate Kumar Rocker
@@abrahamterry9445 true. They are both amazing.
His high fastball looks like it’s rising.... reminds me of Clemens
So Kumar Rocker is their second best pitcher. Good lord!
Good lord, I’m an LSU fan, and I am not looking forward to Vanderbilt. They’re literally a major league team.
Welcome to how we feel in football
@@adamperry7848 Don't worry, Clark will get us out of this curse...
Yeah we are gonna get killed
Pitches like sonny gray
This better translate Jack, texas has endured enough
That kid has a future in baseball. The pitching from both sides was pretty good.
You don't say...
@@wyattjones7979 Well, perhaps I was being a bit obvious. Us old guys get like that.
The Rangers have both him and Rocker now (I'm on a computer, but if I had my phone I'd post the happy tear emoji.)
Does anyone know the name of the song that is playing at the very beginning of the video??
Without Rocker & Leiter where would vandy be?
Still on top
Will be 1st pick in MLB Draft
Leiters got some younger Grienke in him. The build, mechanics and stuff have some similarities
Eh grienke is like Maddox, he has stuff. Jack is just a tough fast throwing stud that college can’t hit.
New Jersey!!!! where you at?
4.26 is when he uses the sticky stuff……lol
Wow
As long as Pittsburgh get either him or kumar I’ll be happy
Reminds me of Roy Oswalt.
Wow good shit wheels
Go Pack. Tear him up!
Awesome would be even better without the first walk
Yuh
Why do the catcher throwing to first after strikeout i know like throwing around but usually to third
This kid went to my highschool
Fuck I miss playing baseball man...
Leiter kinda reminds me of Marcus stroman
He’s definitely got the swag, style, and stuff like Stroman.
@Rambone 2.0 the way he drops and drives is more like stroman, where sonny gray is more up right. I do see what you mean tho
He better go number 1 overall. I feel like he is better than kumar.
They should go 1 and 2
It’s going to be like bauer and cole
Jack and Kumar just isn’t fair lol.
Thats not a strikezone thats a goddamn barn door
Tate (2b) broke his hand when he through that bat. Bad loss, Tate and Young had good chemistry going on defense/ Not to mention Kohlicks hitting.
How good is there Sunday guy?
Welcome to the Rangers!
His stuff will play in MLB, but I hope Vandy tries to preserve his arm. I know wherever he goes they won't let him throw more then 105 pitches as a rookie. So many arm issues these days seeing such a high pitch count worries me about his future.
124 isn’t that high if you’re shoving
Yeah I agree, but teams are so afraid of arm injuries these days. Idk if that's a lot for college, but doesn't happen to often anymore in MLB; Especially for the youngsters.
@@BenFishing23 yeah they seem to be all about preserving young arms now. Some guys are built for a bug workload and some arent. He seems to be super mechanically sound with tons of body power so he could be an exception
Big*
Tim Ambrose I hope so. Definitely rooting for this kid.
You know it's going to be a good day for both pitchers when the zone is the size of a bus
