In one jail I was in on the fourth an older lady ran the kitchen and the male inmates helped. They made us delicious grilled chicken baked beans all kinds of yummy food. The food there was always good though. They treat the inmates like people.
We have the best food at the women's prison in Alaska. We grow fruits and veggies, and the men's prison has livestock. The chef is so sweet he makes sure we get good stuff. We also have a culinary program. When I was homeless, I would go steal something just so I could come eat for a week. 😂
No joke one time I was taking a walk through the farm park and walked passed a prison facility and they had shake it off by Taylor swift on full blast doing karaoke!
It is so good. In the morning id actually soak mine in milk because in the morning it was always frozen. Id spread my peanut butter on it too oh so good
@c00lk1d86 It's ridiculously melt in your mouth good. As far as ik it's just plain cake. Sometimes you'd get different kinds of cake, but it's typically the cinnamon kinda cake w/o icing for breakfast mainly, typically for lunch & dinner it's just yellow cake with chocolate icing. But it was still the tasty part of the meal, which definitely made it taste better at the time. I will say this tho, the cake isn't worth going to jail for 🤣🤣
In are county jail you get a cake and 2 pieces of bread each tray. Save you bread and cake in a plastic bag for 2 days or get you ceilie to throw with you. Crumble the cake and bread. Crumble a ice white honey bunch into the bag. Add a bit of water. Roll it together into a load in the bag. Let it seat for an hour. Makes a delicious sweet roll you can pull pieces off to fill your stomach in between trays.
The cake is the best and they give you a Lot of it lol like a huge piece I didn’t eat mine always gave it away bc one thing I wasn’t was hungry in jail But that cake, I had to try it, and it was so moist lol I don’t want to go back. I just spent the night in jail, didn't see shit, didn't hear shit, but I'm out today! I'm just glad that they saw this was a bs charge and let me out today! ❤
@user-ix5gn4xe7x jail isn't just "guilty" people like in prison. Jail is filled with people who haven't even had trials and are waiting on their trial dates.
I work at a legal grow facility in California. We are super close to a detention facility....we often think...damn they must get out for rec and be hit with the best herb smell. 🌿 We do recover. ❤
When i was 19 in perryville prison theg actually let our whole yard go outside and lay on the grass and watch the fireworks. Im 30 now and will honestly never forget any part of that moment. ❤
Yup. Especially when you learn other countries are just as free, and have a beneficial healthcare system for all in the country, in their prisons actually rehabilitate people and get them back on track. Their tax systems make more sense, and they send you a date to bring your stuff to file them.
Your videos are the reason why my kids school had a bake sale to raise money and later got soap, shampoo, deodorant and other hygiene products and packed them into 50 gift bags. The teachers brought it to the local female prison where of of the mothers works and made sure that all those inmates who had no money got a gift bag, so they can stay fresh during the hot summer.
They'd give us barbecued baked chicken and give us 2 pieces of chicken!! We also got a fresh slice of white cake with icing, and it was yummy. Our usual desserts were kind of stale. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and the 4th of July were all decent food trays with larger portions. One time, some church brought us mothers day kits with toothpaste, soap, shampoo, socks and a few other goodies but we ate the same yucky food as every other day but it was real nice to get those gift bags.
One of the county jails I spent the most time in was a tall old building before they remodeled, first 4 floors were the courthouse and the 5th and 6th floors were the men’s and women’s jails. There were skinny windows but we would yell out to people in the parking lot and even through the glass they could hear us. Since the men’s floor was right above us there were a lot of girls that would talk through the toilets to them. Just had to lower the water first. It was nasty. But Christmas and NYE were depressing to be locked up on but we could see the snow fall and new years fireworks 🎆 grateful to be 4 years clean
You should do a video about the vegetarian diet in jail. I told them I was vegetarian one time I went so I didn't have to eat the gross mystery meat lol I got black bean burgers and eggplant parm and fruit salad. The vegetarian diet had better food depending on the jail.
Williamson county jail in Tennessee has the best jail food. They give you real food with dessert almost every breakfast/supper.. every other jail I went to was terrible..
It’s always the cake 😂 I know it’s late but now I wanna go make a cake for Fourth of July. I hope you had a wonderful weekend and you were safe much love Tina. Your videos inspired me so much. I finally went and took some vacation. Thank you for everything you do for everyone.
Florida State Prison in the 1980's gave us steak, watermelon and chocolate chip cookies and Coca Cola. Normal food would have been something like "mystery meat' coolaid and maybe a piece of fruit along with beans. We ate a lot of beans and rice. That was the one and only time we had steak and it was all T-Bones. They were cooking them over a fire out in the yard where several prisoners who knew what they were doing volunteered to do the cooking. We also got some pretty good biscuits and corn bread WITH BUTTER which we hardly ever got. They also played patriotic music over the loud speakers. We only got two meals that day but they handed out snacks in the early evening and honestly I don't think anyone minded trading in one of their normal meals for that one. The other thing they did was open up the TV rooms for all day. The only time that day that we had to do normal prison stuff was the morning and evening counts. They skipped the noon count. Also not nearly as many CO's there that day. That was a work camp so there were fewer CO's to start with.
That's when the state comes to visit to "check" on us and the system. So they try and act like they take care of us. I love when state comes. We actually get to eat
My friend was in prison (not his fault), and he called me on the 5th one year. He was so excited because someone did fireworks, and he could see them through the bars in his cell window. He was crying because it was the first time he had seen them in 7 years, and he only had a few months left on his sentence. He felt like it was a coincidental celebration. It made me so happy to hear him be so excited.
They do nothing for the holidays here at my local jail except they give you a bag lunch for dinner and lunch. Thanksgiving you get a bag lunch. A bologna sandwich for lunch and you get a bologna sandwich for dinner. Same for Christmas
We would get a chicken quarter with bbq sauce on 4th of July’s. The type of people to go all out on the 4th are exactly the type of people who work in jails so lots of jails usually do something special.
I’ve never been locked up on the 4th (which is also my bday) but on thanks giving they prepare a turkey dinner which is so nice! Turkey, mashed potatoes, a very small condiment cup of cranberry sauce, and a roll. Around Christmas they give everyone a commissary bag that has candy and other snacks plus fuzzy socks!! I think they should add one hygiene product in there for those who are indigent but what they do is nice! On new yrs eve the put the tvs on in the day room and if you can see it from your cell you can watch the ball drop. One of the most depressing things is bringing in the new yr from a cell in a jail you’ve no idea when your leaving 😭
thats actually an exact meal at my highschool but we have some sauce for the burger and cheese, milk, and the salad is in a container and we get ranch LOL
Isn't it crazy how the cake is always bomb? No matter what jail I've been in, the cake was always bomb AF. I wish I knew what kind it was so I could make it outside lol
Southern State correctional facility gave us all Italian subs a bag of lays and a bottle of coke on Superbowl Sunday. On the 4th they did a cookout we all got a burger a hotdog a chicken wing potato salad and a piece of watermelon and we all ate outside
Unfortunately, at least in my state from what I know, they could care less about someone having their service animal for emotional circumstances and they’d even be hesitate to get you options for your service animal in cases for medical emergency like seizures etc. I think it’s fucked up, but it’s for safety reasons and the reasoning of ‘you have a ton of other inmates around you, so if something happens we will know’.
