I unfortunately already bought the S20 FE 5G before knowing that it had no headphone jack. I should be receiving it soon so i guess i will have to see if i will return it. The no headphone jack is just a big no no for me. One, it puts more pressure on the charging port by more use of the charger and now a headphone adapter which will loosen it over time and cause issue. Two, you need to be careful on what adapter or usb-c headphones you decide to purchase. Quite a few aren't comparable as i have heard. And three, bluetooth headphones can not only have thier issues as well but there are also expensive if you arent made of money that can be a big problem. Like they say, if its not broke... Don't fix it. Samsung should have just stuck to the jack. But, instead the cheaped out. But, it is what it is.
did you end up returning it? im in the same boat. every samsung ive ever bought had one, and assumed (mybad) they would never pull an Apple and remove it. music and gps is important to me in the car. this might be a deal breaker too
If you bought a galaxy Note 20 they will give you headphones for free that are specially made to be used on the Note 20. Seeking information is everything, and for those who don't it's timing that becomes everything... I hope everything worked out for you
I refused for months & then once Google followed suit I realized we unfortunately don't have a choice so I just got the S20fe on a black Friday sale lol. So stupid, companies suck for getting rid of this.
Unbelievable I can't believe it that Samsung did this. I tried to plug my phone to my radio car and I couldn't find the plug. Nobody told me about it. All this time I was using my other phone my galaxy 9s and I was like OK now let's try the big boy let's see how it sounds and nope nothing. I couldn't believe it I was like if I only knew I would be like no thank you. I would have never bought it. It is, is so stupid that they didn't include the plug. The only good thing is that I still have service in my other phone that I owned. Next time when I buy another phone I'm gonna make sure that it has the plug even if the phone costs me 20 dollars.

I was going to upgrade to the S20 but now that I know they've taken the 3.5 mic/headphone jack out, I can't upgrade as I use my plugin mics all the time on my videos in loud outside environments where I absolutely must be able to plug in my noise cancelling mics. I hope Samsung changes it's policy on future models or I will have to stay with their old models that include the jack. It's not an option for me to purchase the dongle and take the chance of losing compatibility with all of my mics and headsets. Thank you for alerting us potential buyers of their foolish move to remove their jack. I do hope they change their minds on this in the future.

I understand that there is a trend to remove headphone jacks to save space and cost. But, I don't understand Samsung's decision to even remove DAC for USB-C. I may be wrong, but as far as I know, other manufacturers keep DAC which means they could keep it but they choose not to. The fact that there is no built-in DAC in a phone limits the available adapters to choose from.
I recently purchase the Galaxy S21+ and was planning to use the USB-C dongle that came with my Tab S7 but it did not work. The error persented, "The usb device connected isn't supported". And it doesn't work on my tablet. Now I know why. The Samsung dongle supplied doesn't have a DAC. Thank you for the info and shame on Samsung for removing the DAC and trying to pass off the included dongle with their tablets as usable.
Well, people stop to buy phones without a 3.5 mm jack.Companies must start to listen the people if they need to sell their products. So, people now you know, Stay with what you already have at your own. I am sure that no one will stay without a phone unit. Most of us have a second, third or fifth phone device in our homes. You don't stay without a phone. Stop to buy until they start to change their projects to the better and what the buyers want to see. Isn't that simple? If we don't do nothing may be the next generation of phones they will take out the speakers also...

I bought the original Samsung EE-UC10 adapter and can confirm that I have no audio issues now when connecting and using external microphones on my Samsung galaxy S20+ 5G. I've also found that there aren't ANY USB C Microphones that can directly use Samsungs USB-C port and give good quality audio so you'll require an OEM Samsung EE-UC10 adapter in place to use a Microphone that has a 3.5mm connector and 2 other cables, I chose to use the RODE SC2, TRS to TRS cable and a RODE SC4 adapter. Yes there is a TRS to TRRS cable available that should cut out the use of the SC4 adapter BUT strangely I found that the RODE SC7,TRS to TRRS cable didn't work! As I've said in other postings the audio is now very useable BUT still way too much compression, noise reduction, noise cancellation as there is very little natural environment sounds being recorded but your own vocal is very clear. So for me I have to use this setup consisting of the RODE SC2 patch cable 2 pinned end goes into the rear of the Rode Videomicro Microphone and the other 2 pinned end plugs into the RODE SC4 adapter and this adapters end pin goes directly into the Samsung EE-UC10 adapter, then the EE-UC10 USB end goes into the handset USB-C port. I also tried using the the pro video mode and this allows me to adjust the mic gain from 0db to +12db. I personally found +5db was more than adequate for my needs and this gave me loud and clear audio on playback BUT still I found that the surrounding background noise is being canceled out too much. Hope this helps.

Man I just got this phone thinking I was getting an awesome upgrade from the S9. But the headphones that came with it are glitchy I mean it sounds good on my end but everybody on the other end says it's a problem. I hate using Bluetooth cuz I really don't want any Electronics wrapped around my neck for any amount of time. And I don't want to have to worry about charging two devices. I went and bought another USB C earbud and it seems like I'm having the same problems. The weird thing is I hear them perfectly on my end but for some reason they're saying whenever my wired earbuds are plugged in it's crackly. I hate to go through the process of returning this. Perhaps I should get the S10... I was just trying to get the best thing that still had a microSD card.
Hmm, Sony WH-1000XM3 with LDAC enabled sounds mighty fine to me. No quality issues. Although I agree that other than LDAC other bluetooth audio codecs are quite a let down quality wise. On the S20 you have to manually enable LDAC through the bluetooth device options menu. So be aware of that.

The 3.5mm phono technology meant that virtually any earphones or headphones by any manufacturer is compatible whether they had 3 rings TRS, 4 rings TRRS, DAC functions. Therefore, no doubt people will be asking the same question that I also asked why was the 3.5mm port socket removed? Google at least implied that third-parties should start using USB-C instead of 3.5mm. Google didn't state that USB-C had to be compatible with all other USB-C devices. I've a OnePlus 7 Pro, and it totally has a built in DAC, also without having an audio jack. I don't know which OnePlus devices you meant at 3:49 Another small note: there are adapters that from type c will give you a type c port and a jack one. I recommend you one of them, except that their DACs aren't that good
Please supply the link of your video with USB-C to 3.5mm adapters that will work for example the S20 Ultra with the Bose QC20, Noise Cancelling, TRRS, DAC that has a Mic and music controls, because I can't find one that works so far? This is because I have found trying to find a compatible adapter impossible!
A USB c hub would solve the problem. I got one with a 3.5mm headphone jack to use with my iPad Pro 11 2018 since it doesn't have a headphone jack either.

Found this video by luck - But it doesn't provide the relevant information. The title probably should have been, 'DAC: USB-C to 3.5mm adapter' What USB-C to 3.5mm adapters do you recommend for which type of jack tip? For example, I have found it difficult to find the correct USB-C to 3.5mm adapter (dongle) that is compatible with my Bose QC20, Android, 3.5mm, TRRS, jack plug with my Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, USB-C's socket. I was rusty about DAC, but your video has solved the problem. The number of segments that a jack has is also extremely important. I now know that the cable must have DAC - in my case probably must have TRRS (4 segmented pointed jack (4-pole)) - Must also have the phone's model number in either the title or description: www.amazon.co.uk/Cubilux-Headphone-Adapter-Splitter-Compatible-Silver/dp/B07KC3GTLY/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=Is+there+a+USB-C+adapter+compatible+with+S20+Ultra+and+Bose+QC20+Headphones%2C+TRRS+UK%3F&qid=1594653413&sr=8-10
Using a Samsung usb dongle (with a DAC) helps on the audio quality of any wired earphones. More importantly, allowing digital audio out now affords streaming music from a smartphone to bluetooth earphones (having a hifi DAC chip) or to speakers on a system including a standalone DAC unit.
The earphones or headphones that you use does it have 3 segments or 4 segments on the tip of the plug jack, please? If possible does it also have DAC and a remote microphone?

Sooo I found out how to get the samsung type c adapter to work. You have to plug in your earphones first to the adapter, then unplug the earphones and plug in the aux cord in your car. Wala, it will work. This for samsung users that having problems connecting to aux in their car.
Evolution of modern smartphone: No more a removable battery. No more fm radio. No more a sd card slot. While prices going through the roof. This is so ridiculous.
I own a Pixel 2xl. and I dislike the dongle, it can get distorted, they fail, they come out of the socket and have bought too many of these things. So I went and bought an LG G8x, problem solved. High priced phones should include headphone jacks. Bluetooth is a pain. I plug my audio in my car through a 3.5mm aux port, more reliable than Bluetooth.
Spend tons to buy a phone...then spend even more to get the right dongle/usb c headphones. I think phone manufacturers should sell their devices with compatible dongles right out of the box. Some are already doing it. However, Buy a phone WITH headphone jack and there's no problem at all. I see so many comments on these type of videos saying "If you can afford a high-end flagship then you can afford a type c dongle." Like really? You've already spent tons on the phone, ofcourse you won't have much cash left...unless it's the rich guys saying those stuff. Some even say the aux cord is dying. Well, it isn't. I dare to see usb-c to 3.5mm jack used in studio rooms/ in vehicles, etc. Where there's amps and speakers connected here and there...never.

With the amount of time that I have wasted trying to find a compatible USB-C to 3.5mm adapter to be compatible with the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra and the Bose QC20 Noise Cancelling, 3.5mm, TRRS, DAC Earphones including with the numerous Samsungs' Department Samsung actually and literally don't care at least enough!
Probably, will be the last Android phone that I shall be buying!
It also appears that Google and Samsung are looking after number one, themselves, and are not concerned with the Android team!
For example for years only got one or
if lucky two years of upgrades instead of at least 5 years or better still at least 10 years worth of upgrades as what Microsoft gives with Window PCs get!
So that billionaires can become even richer, by forcing people to buy new phones every one or two years or end up with security hacking problem risks to Trojan viruses such as Stagefright that could effected probably at least 95% of all Android phones.
Hackers could hack into phones steal and change data.
Then delete the trojan without the user even knowing what had actually happened, and that they were ever infected.
Could also take control of the Android phone also!

Google at least implied that third-parties should start using USB-C instead of 3.5mm.

Thank you for clearing that up. I had a usb-c to 3.5mm adapter but it did not have a DAC chip so I kept getting an error message. Now I know I need a new adapter. 👍
Good explanation. Soon Samsung will remove screens from their phones to cut costs, and they will only provide buttons and call that phone the classic.
OK so I've found a cable that works really well, UNOOE USB Type C to 3.5mm. Sounds great. I originally bought a cheapish cable and the sound level was low and terrible. This wire makes it sound like a proper audio jack.

@@Mandy_39 did you ever find out if the jacks hold up over time?
I want an adaptor, but not if it messes up the USB-C port over time. IMO the port needs to last at least 2-3 years to be a viable option.
No headphone jack is big a mistake. Sometimes I wonder if the designers drink too much. How can you have a phone without a headphone; you tell me.
Just bought a passive dongle, and didn't know you had to have an active dongle for the Samsung Galaxy S20 Plus. Nor did I find any information about this either on samsungs site or the dongle manufacturers site. Really poor communication both on the part of Samsung and the manunfacturer, I'll be sure to leave a one star review on the site I bought the dongle. Yep, they removed the DAC as well, so an active one is the only choice.

My phone won't accept it.....is there something in the settings I need to change?

Found this video by luck - But it doesn't provide the relevant information.
The title probably should have been, 'DAC: USB-C to 3.5mm adapter'
What USB-C to 3.5mm adapters do you recommend for which type of jack tip?
For example, I have found it difficult to find the correct USB-C to 3.5mm adapter (dongle) that is compatible with my Bose QC20, Android, 3.5mm, TRRS, jack plug with my Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra, USB-C's socket.
I was rusty about DAC, but your video has solved the problem.
The number of segments that a jack has is also extremely important.
I now know that the cable must have DAC - in my case probably must have TRRS (4 segmented pointed jack (4-pole)) - Must also have the phone's model number in either the title or description:
www.amazon.co.uk/Cubilux-Headphone-Adapter-Splitter-Compatible-Silver/dp/B07KC3GTLY/ref=sr_1_10?dchild=1&keywords=Is+there+a+USB-C+adapter+compatible+with+S20+Ultra+and+Bose+QC20+Headphones%2C+TRRS+UK%3F&qid=1594653413&sr=8-10

Hence, you've been lucky!
Evolution of modern smartphone: No more a removable battery. No more fm radio. No more a sd card slot. While prices going through the roof. This is so ridiculous.
Soon they will remove screens from their phones to cut costs, and they will only provide buttons and call that phone the classic.
THIS THING IS SO EXPENSIVE, CAME UP WITH NO AUDIO JACK, OVERHEATS ON GAME. THE HELL IS THIS
Spend tons to buy a phone...then spend even more to get the right dongle/usb c headphones.
