Games were much simpler back then and also very superior because of that. It's become too big these days and too slow to get into a game now. They're more one time EXPERIENCES than fun games you can play whenever you want.
I feel like the Origins Collection did something to the spin dash sounds. It doesnt feel like a "progression" of the charge up can be heard and now they're static sounds like just sound the same no matter how many times you press it. Its a subtle change that bothers me. Fantastic run on this game. Its forever changed my life and thats not something say lightly. Great music, great level design, level transitions, 3 awesome playabke characters, a good story, etc. All you could ever want in a great game rolled into one. Not a bad start when first getting into video games (which it did for me). Congrats once again
Looked like the flame shield was more effective on LB1 with lots of horizontal paths that didn't see much electric shield use. Any reason for the switch?
It's mainly just to get out of the area where you get it. A single jump isn't enough to get to the area above (you can get there by bouncing off the enemies, but it's slower and harder)
This game really managed to introduce its plot and get into gameplay in less than 20 seconds, huh? Makes it superior to all 3D Sonic games then.
It definitely suits the arcade-style games that were really common on Genesis
It showed everything it needed to show. If you wanted to know more you read the manuals.

lmao this shit is so funny how wrong that last statement is.
But what is the plot? Super sayan hedhog gets mugged by groundhog?
Reading through your rules it feels like how a completely new player would play through the game, I like that
Anybody else find it incredibly satisfying at 6:33 the two wall smashing sound effects played in perfect time with the music?
Man this is how I imagine sonic was meant to be played
this game has the best level transition out of all sonic games
14:28 this is where my childhood got stuck and i couldn't move forward.
me to lol I just keep jumping at that time.
I got stuck here as well, but there's even a easier way to get out, you just have to hold up an down on the d pad an it will make him go up an down

those time saves from marble garden onwards are astonishing
Beautiful run, Werster.
I feel like doing a run without triggering a glitch is harder than playing the levels fast lol

Sometimes PC gamers are so annoying.
