    I have an RX 7900 XTX and I know very well that this isn't even a fight when it comes to performance. However, the RTX 4090 isn't even remotely worth its asking price if you're just a gamer.

      I think the 7900 XTX did extremely well when overclocked ... it was able to win 5 games, which is great considering the price difference of the cards ... this is why data matters.

    Great video, had 4090 suprim x last year but it had faulty heatsink and center fan, after using it like that for the month, decided to RMA it, they didn't had replecement so got my money back.
    Decided not to buy 4090 again and kept my old 3080, however it died before new year and got 7900 xtx nitro plus, couldn't be happier, don't care about ray tracing and where it's needed AMD is either faster or on par with 4090 for half the price

    You have to do this please. Undervolted the 7900 xtx to 2400mhz or a little bit lower and see how efficient it becomes or how bad the performance drops. It would be a sick vid for us 7900 xtx owners. Also it would be interesting to comparing it to other clocks speeds or other cards at the same price point or higher. I think you means reduce the clock speed to 2400mhz or lower and undervolt? Why would you want to do that? Do you prefer fewer frames per second or just want to reduce the wattage used? In either case, you'd just be turning the 7900XTX into a 7900XT or GRE. It's like purposely running a V8 on 6 cylinders because you'll burn less fuel. Yeah, but you'll make less horsepower. Why not just buy the V6, instead?

    Hi Matt, how is your experience with HDMI and DP cables? such as material quality, bandwidth performance, since some of the side problems like game crashing and some flickering from the cheap cable that came with the old monitors have being resolve with a new cable from my new HDMI 2.1 cable and DP 2.0. planing to buy in the next months a 32" 4K 120 IPS or save more and buy an OLED before year end.

    • @blackbirdpctech
      @blackbirdpctech  5 місяців тому +2

      I tend to always buy more premium cables to avoid any potential issue but the reality is as long as they meet the standard then you should be fine. I've had some minor issues with HDMI 2.1 so I prefer DP, but the extra bandwidth offered is helpful ... that is until DP2.1 becomes widely adopted. The good news is with the new QD-OLED monitors becoming more widely available the IPS monitors will drop in price, so either way you will win.

    As usual that cyberpunk result with ray tracing inflating the other all picture of performance.
    That's why I never use it, it can give results that aren't reality.
    I'd do two tests. One without it, and one with it.
    Allot of people simply don't use it, and will always want native and higher fps.
    That's the question. From what I can see tho it's VERY competitive rayt racing aside.
    And in light rray traced titles it's doing rather well.
    Honestly I'd probably pick up an xtx over a 4080 just because it does get vastly superior overall, not just in 3 titles with tech demo ray tracing on.

    Good video. I want to like AMD.. But a friend just got a new 7800xt and we spent a couple of hours trying to get it to work properly (we DDU'ed the drivers and did a fresh install twice and then tried slightly older drivers). We couldn't create a custom resolution and refresh rate and there was serious sudden lag in games around 2% of the time. (He has 64gb of system memory with a 5800x3d). We watched multiple youtube trouble shooting guides on AMD settings and we couldn't get it to work properly. I lent him my 3080 10gb. DDU'ed the drivers, installed new Nvidia drivers and with-in 5 minutes we had a custom resolution and refresh rate created and zero lag in games. He returned the 7800xt and got a 4070ti Super. It works PERFECT just like the 3080 did. What am I supposed to say? What is my friend who is a tech novice supposed to think? I am not a fan boy at all. It was never intended to be “fair” given that the 7900 XTX is overclocked and the 4090 isn’t. That said, the Founder’s Edition card is no slouch when it comes to performance, and don’t forget that partner model 4090’s are more expensive, so the value story for the 4090 would only get worse with partner model cards.

    • @blackbirdpctech

      Yes, the RT settings turn it on by default. As noted on the chart, frame gen is not available for AMD cards in Cyberpunk. The reverse is true in Avatar where the 7900 XTX used FSR 3 with frame gen and the 4090 used DLSS without frame gen. This is also why I provided an average performance summary without those two games in addition to the full suite.

      @markjacobs1086 it’s equal at 4K and wins by ~15% at 1080P … these are all at ultra game settings. One thing to be careful of is comparing data at different game settings. Most professional COD players turn the settings down, which helps the 7900 XTX. If there is something specific you would like me to look at let me know but it’s obviously difficult to respond to someone’s expectations of what they believe the performance should be.

      Yes, Avatar only allows frame gen with fsr3, as noted on the chart. Cyberpunk only allows frame gen with dlss, as noted on that chart. I test both titles with RT and frame gen on which will favor each card. In that way they tend to balance each other out when averaged with all other games.

      I agree that Nvidia cards can use fsr however it’s not something I would ever do because dlss offers better quality. • @blackbirdpctech
      @blackbirdpctech  5 місяців тому

      That is NOT a valid user experience because Nvidia GPU owners don't use FSR3 for upscaling (regardless of whether it's available to them), they use DLSS, which is objectively a superior upscaling technology. So it's extremely unlikely that a 4090 owner would run Avatar with FSR3 turned on simply to get access to frame generation. I appreciate that you have an issue, but what I don't understand is why you are focused on Avatar and not Cyberpunk, and also why you chose to ignore the average performance chart without these titles. My objective is to be as unbiased in my assessment as possible. You are obviously welcome to disagree but by only focusing on a title that benefits AMD it comes across that you may be biased towards Nvidia.

    For a rocket scientist, you are not that smart if you even consider these cards as competitors.
    1- AMD clearly said that the 7900xtx competes with the 4080.
    2- Ignoring the point above, you have no reason to complain about power consumption.
    3- 7900xtx can be found way below their MSRP meanwhile the 4090 is rarely found at MSRP.
    4- Ignoring the anticonsumer practices from Ngreedia.
    5- you just lost a subscriber, since I can't take your biased reviews seriously.

    • @blackbirdpctech
      @blackbirdpctech  Місяць тому

      It's interesting to me that people will claim bias when I don’t tell them what they want to hear. I start my video by stating "have you ever wondered if it’s possible to overclock a 7900 XTX to compete with an RTX 4090?" ... that is the context for this video. I already did a direct comparison between the 7900 XTX and 4080 and in fact, a subscriber asked me to compare an overclocked 7900 XTX against a 4090 in the comments to that video and I thought it would be interesting to investigate.
      In my recommendations I stated the following: "What you may not have expected is that the highly overclocked 7900 XTX was able to win 5 rounds and draw 2, a truly impressive result even against a 4090 at default settings" AND "... if you convert that into gaming efficiency or FPS/$ at 4K, then the 7900 XTX provides a knockout blow by offering significantly more value than the 4090." How is that bias?
      If anything the bias would be in favor of the 7900 XTX because I didn't overclock the 4090. Regardless, it's clear that you are the one with a bias and although it's disappointing to see you unsubscribe, I think it's for the best ... you clearly want to see content that supports your own internal bias against Nvidia and that's not going to happen on my channel. I will always let the data drive my recommendations so that I can deliver unbiased content.
