    It looks like you've installed those drag bars upside down, the wiring dimples should be underneath, not on the top.

    Appreciate th review, gonna get a set for my v star. Have you considered purchasing a set of risers so you're not constantly hunched over? If so, I don't think it would compromise your increase control/stability in corners.

    I have drag bars on my 2008 Sportster 1200 Nightster. They are installed on 2" risers with correct length control cables (all installed by Wolverine Harley Davidson near Detroit, Michigan - excellent service there!), and I have "flipped" mirrors similar to yours but I bought replacement mirrors with longer stalks and they work fine with an unobstructed rearward view. I think they look and function better than the bar end mirrors I have on another bike. My bike has mid controls and the riding position is quite comfortable, but I am actually looking for some rearset footpegs and controls which would be even better, giving me almost a "cafe racer" posture but with a bit less crouch than clip-on or clubman handlebars. I believe the fact that your bike has forward controls is the real reason your riding position is uncomfortable. I think you should really try switching to mid controls, you'll be much happier riding medium to longer distances. You can have the good looks AND the comfort! Nice bike...

    Anyone know if drag bars would still work with a batwing fairing for sportster?

    First off, GREAT looking bike!.. you did a nice job!... So i have a 2020 iron 883..its my first Harley/ cruiser. I had a few street bikes when i was younger.... Lol, like 20 years ago!... I really missed the freedom of riding, so i bought an iron. i want the same look that you went for... i love the drag bars, and i want to put the drag pipes on as well.. i already did a 2 inch tank lift... but with the pipes i want.. forward controls are a must. (I currently still have the stock mid controls). I dont mind sacrificing some comfort for the look i want either. I noticed you have forward controls also.. how is the ride with thse bars with the forwards?? .. I also HAAAATE riding on the highway without a windshield.. The wind SUCKS! .. So i put a windshield on in (made riding on the highway so much better!) .. but i never really rode the damn thing because the windshield makes the bike so friggin ugly looking that i dont even want to ride it! .. Needless to say, the windshield is off, and never going back on! .. Does being hunched over with your head down a little make highway riding wind more tolerable? When i had my racing bikes, i was obviously hunched over and the wind was never an issue. Even at 90 plus mph!... NOW on my harley, i hit 75, and i feel like im gonna blow off the damn thing!..... Any advice from anyone would be MUCH appreciated!

      Hey! Congrats on the bike! Appreciate the kind words. The comfort is very minimal with my set up, I can probably ride about an hour before my back/hip starts screaming. However it does help when riding on the highway because you’re not sitting up as much so riding on the highway does feel smoother in that position

    Your right you always have to fill that peanut tank up! Bars look sick. Your making me want to go build a sporty chopper. I always liked the sportster frame, it's just hard to go for comfort after riding a bagger! Are the bars upside down? Good one man!

    I put mids on my 48 and replaced the solo seat with a two up soft seat. Planning on risers for the drags. That should make riding more comfortable. Being all lazy boy stretched and folded up like a clam is uncomfortable, why do that to myself? I’m going a little more frisco style!

    Drag bars look dope. So, I just installed 82cm drag bars on my Iron 883. I love how it feels to ride, totally different bike and more aggressive. But I am getting a lot of wrist pain and not sure why. Did you experience any wrist pain?

    • @IronBornRider
      @IronBornRider  4 місяці тому +1

      I personally didn’t, but only because my back gave out first lol. I think if I rode longer my wrists would be sore. It’s probably because you’re putting more pressure on your wrists to hold the weight

    • @Doors_of_Perception
      @Doors_of_Perception 4 місяці тому

      @@IronBornRider Thanks for your reply mate. I have no issues so far with my back, actually feels very comfortable. It could indeed be that I’m putting more pressure on my wrists and thereby levers, which is causing the strain. Although I’m used to cycling fixed gear with no brakes, so a lot of pressure on the wrists as constantly need to balance the speed and load.

    • @Doors_of_Perception
      @Doors_of_Perception 4 місяці тому

      Also, it really does feel like the wrist soreness is coming from operating the levers, rather than leaning on the bars. Perhaps it’s just the new angle and it will take time for the wrists to adapt.

    Hey man. Love your content.
    I wanted to install the same bars you have, and I seen in the comments that they were installed upside down and you fixed it later. If they were installed correctly, would the fork caps getting in the way been an issue? Like the bar doesn’t grind on the fork cap? I’m just trying to make sure I know what I’m going getting into. For example, I know I will have to relocate the turn signals.

    I bought a used Sportster with Drag bars. Do they look "cool"? No. Do they look "Racey"? No. Are they comfortable? No. Do they cause me to reach forward in an unnatural riding position? Yes. Would we buy a bed that looks good but isn't comfortable? Would we buy shoes that look good but are not comfortable? Then why would we buy handlebars that look good if they are not comfortable? Is it just me, or has the world gone crazy?
    I'm looking for mirrors that work. Why don't they make them so they can be moved out past the end of the handlebars and why are they all shaped smaller toward the end of the mirror where you need to be able to see? It's as if they were all designed in hell, or is it because they "look good"?
    Or, are these all for California lane splitters? What about the rest of us?
    If I bought a new bike and short shocked it to get the seat lower, back in the day, that would have been known as a "hack job".
