Hey buddy, great to hear from you and glad you approve, and just like BMW, Harley have some interesting engineering solutions that sets them apart from the Japanese ethic, such as in the grips and indicator set up!
Hi Del, I absolutely love this new bike of mine, but I could really do with changing the handlebar position as it gives me pain in my wrists and a crick in my neck. I recently saw some clip-ons with a 1" rise with a 7 degree angle. Are these going to give me a more upright riding position over the factory setup. The seller doesn't know, and I remembered this video you did. God bless you and Penny x
Nice bars indeed - very fitting with the look and quality of this build - sometimes we need to treat ourselves to a bit of quality kit don't we aye - my little indulgence is ASV levers - not cheap - but you can see and literally feel the quality compared to the cheaper aftermarket stuff - thanks guys x
Thanks Mike, totally agree, we did the same on Penny's Sportster some years ago with Oberon levers, amazing quality and the black anodizing doesn't fade out to purple in the sunshine!! Thanks for your kind support.
Looks absolutely fabulous. Do you think it’s worth changing the headlight though? Not the whole thing, just the glass and the internal mirror (not sure how that’s called). It would be another shiny, silvery thing on the bike where as the current headlight is a bit yellowish from age
Possibly in the future mate, it's a simple swop over, but at the moment the budget is a little stretched and am focusing on keeping momentum with the other large components I have to buy... thanks for your input, it's much appreciated!
Surprisingly good if done well . . . Early 90's I was given a used XLCR import that hadn't seen much love, to 'sort out' for a friend's customer. Serviced, fettled & returned to factory settings it actually ran well, if a little lean. Given a tad more fuel to suit the rich, cool English air, no one then wanted to get off it! Forget any 'cafe racer' malarky though, ride it as you would a prized Vincent on a nice summer's day . . Surprising : )
Great work Del. I have clip ons on my Sportster (not RS so no recess for electrics) but drilled them out and ran the switch gear electrics inside and exit at the end of the bars behind the headlight. Probably not worth it for that short journey but having done that to ape hangers in the past I was happy to do the same again. Al the best!
Great solution mate, and I imagine, far easier than threading the wiring all the way through a pair of ape hangers, I was shocked when I opened the packaging to find that these bars are actually solid billet with the dimples machined out, also threaded on the end so I can make some killer bar weights for them in the future... hope you're getting on ok with yours, I'd love a photo to the email if you've got the time mate, always love to see other people's custom bikes (delboysgarage@yahoo.com)

Hello Del ,longtime fan and subscriber here . Love your work. I was wondering about your opinion on the chain drive set up you have ? I’m curious as I have a 2016 iron with a hammer 1275 big bore kit with cams ,headwork ,Dynojet power vision and energy one clutch kit. I haven’t done a chain conversion as of yet but I am considering it in the near future and I was wondering your thoughts on how you like it so far? FYI I kept the stock 883 gearing because it’s extremely fun lol. Thanks again for all that you guys do and bring to us . Can’t say enough good things about you and the wife . Blessings to you both my friend. From CT USA
Hi buddy, haven't actually ridden the bike yet so can't report on how it feels by comparison, but by all accounts from owners of choppers that make this conversion routinely, it's the right way to go... not only does the set up cost a fraction of the price of a new belt and pulleys, but also you can run the chain and sprockets with barely a minimal chain guard at the most, rather than the big collection of belt guards that you need to run to prevent stones getting eaten by your belt... I've seen people run belts naked, but it makes me wince because I've seen the results when a piece of debris jumps in under the pulley, even a tiny lump of pea shingle is enough to break the belt and wrap it round the rear wheel... no such issue with chains. Thanks for your long term support, it's great to hear from you, ride safe!
Lookin' good, Del! I see that your one half of either the clutch or master cylinder mount that you had to paint turned out so close to factory paint that I couldn't tell the refurb from the cleaned one. How nice is it when the new paint is THAT spot-on with the existing paint! When I saw the circular medallions that came with your new gear, I thought "here's another chance to turn some new brass copies, but alas, they must have been for bar ends that were not used. That's a shame. On another note, I just put a "Sunpie" Daymaker type headlamp in my own scooter yesterday, and it lit up the road on my ride last night, and looks real cute with its LED Halo ring. This would look sexy on your beastie, if it will fit in the bucket with the wiring, and if that design fits your style. And it was a bargain at $50 or so. Super camerawork, as always. Keep 'em comin' Del & Penny!

Couldn't agree more mate, although in it's defence, I've never seen the little ball that they do cast actually break off unlike the regular type... the ferrule gives a lot more flex and rotation to the cable end but quite right, I've ordered two so I've got a spare for next time (because there will be a next time lol)...!

Thanks Paul, enjoy your weekend too and thanks for your support as always!
Why the hell Harley couldn't just cast barrel end nipples on their throttle cables like everyone else instead of using those idiotic easy-to-lose brass adaptors is beyond me. I've nearly lost one of mine twice now, in fact I bought a spare to keep in my tool box in case it ever does happen.
Looks great Del, quite a vibby motor pre rubber mounted engine, concerns me about white finger. RSD parts are quality through and through.
They are indeed!
I think you’re going to have a lot of fun with this build!
I think you're right Sir, in fact we already are!
The bike is looking bloody awesome Del, I would hate to think how much has been invested but just for a minuet forgetting the money you must be absolutely delighted in how its coming together. Well done mate. Have a great w/end
Yes I am mate, it's a great result, took our time to decide and it was worth it! In the end, any motorcycle project will end up costing more than it's worth, but then that's why most people don't do it... have a great weekend!
Looks really nice now, bar ends next I take it, great video, have a great weekend
