Thanks for this reaction as always, this song has so much energy in an old school kind of way, I needed that! This riff is great, it has weird time changes in the middle of it and works flawlessly, because magic I guess. What you said regarding not focusing on the lyrics in rock and heavy metal is totally ok, I'm a metalhead and do it all the time. In the first time I listen to stuff, I tend to focus much more on the mood or how good it sounds, and only after the fact I look up the lyrics to appreciate the message. And after that, when I keep on listening to the same song, I again tend to play it for the mood of it. That said, the lyrics to Paranoid are quite interesting, nothing deep or political, just Ozzy opening up about how he often feels, like if he was ranting about it to friends. Looking up lyrics after the fact is for me part of the experience, and I recommend you to do it as well. Anyways, have fun on this journey, I may throw some Sepultura songs on Discord eventually. Cheers!
Oh, and about live vs studio versions, I feel like a live version is great to give you the atmosphere and context of the style and time, while the studio version is obviously clearer to understand what the instruments are doing. For example, the guitar riff itself is more defined and the bass actually exists in the studio version of this song. The middle ground is obviously official videoclips, but not every song has that.
Geezer butler the bass player wrote the lyrics you gotta know that come on man. Dissapointed in how many sabbath "fans" dont know who wrote the lyrics to these amazing songs.
Black Sabbath is indeed the first Metal band. In my own opinion I do prefer the sound of Black Sabbath with their second singer, Ronnie James Dio. But, no hate for Ozzy. I loved his vocal sound with the group he started after Black Sabbath. There is a bkt on your Discord that bans me from your Discord every time I try to post anything on it. The name of that bot is "Maki".
Sorry about that mod bot, I've been playing around with the settings and hopefully figured out how to prevent that from happening again. If it does, just send me a Discord DM and I'll add you back!
Hope you keep doing these, love the honest not over the top reactions.
