I’m sure you know Jennette McCurdy, the teen-star of iCarly, one of the most iconic shows of our childhood. You’d recognize her by the character of Sam in iCarly, who would play Miranda’s best friend. Jennette joined the show when she had just entered teenage around 2007. By 2012, Jennette quit the show because of Dan Schneider because he was involved in some horrifying things. Jennette described her leaving the show because the show’s producer, Dan Schneider, had created a toxic work environment and made her feel uncomfortable. Of course, we’ll tell you what was happening all along because it goes deeper than you may imagine. To make it worse, Jennette was only a teenager at this time, and it definitely seemed to have impacted her mental health immensely.
The show itself seemed like something really harmless for a young audience, but that was only limited to its appearance. Most of us watched iCarly when we were kids and had no idea what was actually being insinuated during that time. Have a look now and then, hear what Jennette McCurdy has to say about it, and you’ll actually be surprised. Dan Schneider was accused of exploiting little teenage girls and having a foot fetish. There’s nothing really wrong with having a foot fetish but involving underage girls in your fetishes and pouring that mentality all over the show has to be called out for being disgusting. Kennedy was nominated for the Young Actors Award and stood out as an author for the Wall Street Journal. That is around the time Jennette was maturing and started to feel weary of what was happening to her. I think I figured out why none of the kids on ICarly had a dad.
If Schneider’s intentions were impure and he wanted to groom the young girls, what age group would be the most resistant to that happening?
Middle aged men.
The show would hire a middle aged man to play the father of Carly and Spenser, Sam, and Freddie.
Actors often get close with one another while working and see themselves as a surrogate family, at least while the show is going on.
The men that they hire to play the dads would grow attached to the young girls in a more reasonable and appropriate way than Mr. Schneider. They would likely see through his nonsense and put a stop to it.

Good point. And any middle-aged men that were on the shows were teachers, cooks in restaurants, etc. Basically older men were just part-time actors that weren't on the show on a regular basis and therefore wouldn't be around enough to see what he was really like.

It’s quite simple why he got away with it for so long. He got the network views, ratings, advertisers, and ultimately, money. As kids, we didn’t know the context behind these scenes. And as kids themselves, the actors might not have fully comprehended what was happening to them, and/or possibly didn’t know what to do about it.
At one point the Nickelodeon logo was an orange foot. Also one of Drake's bandmates had a tattoo of a foot on their chest.

I would like to point out that the night they received their award for Sam and Cat Janette was not there. I guarantee this was the reason why.

She also didn't show for the 2014 awards where Dan was given a lifetime award. I think she was the only one of the current cast members in any of his shows that wasn't there.

I think that why Sam aka Jenette didn’t say anything was because he might’ve threatened her but the reason she turned down the 300k was so that she could warn other people not to work for Dan. Also the reason that he probably got away with it for so long was probably because 90% of the people watching these shows were kids who didn’t know what was going on and the other 10% of people was adults that never understood what they were letting their kids watch. People who are glad that Jennette did not take the 300k so that way we could know what adults were letting their children watch

Didn’t Nickelodeon brand the orange foot along with the splat early on in an attempt to make the logo flowing with motion
The foot was actually the logo for years until they separated with Schneider and changed to the splat. Although I believe the splat was also used in marketing before the foot was removed so it makes it a bit confusing.

Janette was always the superstar. Kind of like when Disney came out with shake it up, we all knew Zendaya was the star of that show. I’m sad that she thinks her work on Nickelodeon is a shame to her and I hope that those emotions come from a place of her experience on set, because her work has always been brilliant. She was the ideal Nickelodeon star. She was pretty, she had amazing comedic timing, and outside of icarly I’m confident she’d have knocked any role out of the park. I believe another issue is she was never handed the right scripts. But remember, once you light a fire in Hollywood it’s hard to put it out, so there’s good reason to believe her speaking out had something to do with her lack of projects
Jennette was a good actor and would have loved to see her act again. However, besides her trauma from acting, she never wanted to act or seemed to like it. She liked writing and wished to rather become a director.

I really hate that all this weird crap happened to them. As a kid, I genuinely thought nothing of it. But watching it as an adult, some of those foot scenes are just not right... It is possible he didn't think of it that way (I have been naive to things before and accidentally made inappropriate jokes), but at least someone else on set could've said that it just doesn't work. When kids are being kids doing dumb crap like that, it's fine, but when an adult tells them to do it, it is weird.
