I’ve carried a 357 on duty and EDC most of my life. About 2 years ago I discovered the 327. I’ve carried it ever since although in the air weighs I load it with the 32 H&R magnum an with 3 or 4 inch I use the 327. I’m retired so I could have carry anything I wanted.
327 Magnum defeats 38 special in every way. You get an extra hundred foot-pounds of energy and an extra round how can you complain? 38 specials bounce off windshields ask dirty Harry LOL
Im really impressed by the 30 SC, same ballistics as basic 9mm, more round capacity and slightly less recoil. Its just nice to see something different on the market at a reasonable price
Not sure about the 30SC. Maybe if you don’t already have a 9x19 in that size. It doesn’t occupy its own space on energy for carry guns. The low 300 ft-lb are crowded with the top end .380 or weak sauce 9x19s. It’s just mass moving so recoil will be real similar. The slightly higher capacity is not relevant in my opinion, but who knows in a fringe situation 1 round might make the difference
If the 9mm & 30SC were to be judged strictly on their merits and not by financial or other considerations, the 30SC would be a somewhat better option for a minimally sized CC pistol. The 9mm would be the more logical choice in a mid to full sized pistol. But, life’s not fair and the 30SC has a lot to overcome in the real world and the actual consumer market. It’s unfortunate that the creators decided to pit it squarely against the 9mm and not place it more in between the 9 and 380. More power and capacity than the 380 with less actual recoil and greater capacity than the 9mm. That would have given it its own unique traits and perhaps a better chance at success.
I haven’t cared about the 30 SC since it was introduced, but I do wish that the 327 Magnum had taken off “biggly”, Lol. Thanks for another fantastic round of Jelly Time testing.
I think it's a smart & fair comparison to test these two rounds against each other . They're both .312 in diameter , and they're both one step below in the power factor to a bigger cartridge (9mm vs .30 Super & .357Mag vs .327Fed Mag). I can see now why they were created but I think their success will be short lived . Ammo is hard to come by , and very expensive . I should know , I own a .327 Mag. Anyways , yes , I agree with your conclusion , the .327 Mag out-performed the .30 Super even though the .30 Super did pretty well too . Really GREAT video like always !
I think the .327Mag is a great and underrated round, too bad it was shut down before it got feet. I'd love to see a resurrection of this round, and if S&W ever makes a 3" 7-round revolver I'd be on it like a bum on a ham sandwich. The performance on that 327 from a 2" barrel is very impressive. Thanks for this one T&T.
Never shot either one, but I like the idea of the .327. When ammo gets scarce, you have a lot more options with the .327. You got .32, .32 Longs, .32 H&R and .327 mag all in one. Before the last ammo crunch, I wouldn't have really looked at the .327 too close, since you could get .38 Special anywhere to shoot in a .357, but that all changed. 38 and 357 got hit hard and it was just as rare to see either one as it was to see any of the 32 or 327 Mag stuff. Having that extra round, paired with the chance to get something to shoot out of it makes the 327 look a lot better than it did a few years ago. The 30 Super Carry just don't float my boat at all. It seems like an answer to a question that nobody even asked. Keep 'em comin', Tools!
Yeah, I used to wanna keep calibers to a minimum, but having some different stuff definitely helps your odds of finding ammo for at least something you own.😎👊
The versatility idea is nice, but honestly it's no less versatile than .38 or .44 or .45. 38 Short Colt, 38 Long Colt, 38 Special, & .357 magnum in the same revolver 44 Russian, 44 Special, & 44 magnum in the same revolver 45 Schofield, 45 Colt, 454 Casull, & 460 S&W magnum in the same revolver And by the way, the .32acp has a thinner rim so the headspacing won't be as reliable as the other cartridges in that caliber.
I think the 30SC did nice in the gel, low recoil, decent speed/fpe and high capacity is also a plus if that is what you want! the 327 is just a whole different animal and more ammo options! Probably the 32H&R Magnum would probably be a better power comparison to the 30SC! Been wanting to see this test a while, cool! Thanks I love the 327 magnum with a few strip clips in the pocket is plenty of power to get'r dun with a quickness! 👍💥💥
32 H&R is pretty anemic, but works because of the caliber, and penetration. 1050-1100 with 85 grn XTP. I use H&R brass to load my 327 loads at around 35K psi. 1350 with a 85 XTP. No blast, and very shootable.
Said theys et out to “bridge gap between 9mm and 380” (is a big gap, frankly). However they made a round that beats 9mm in every way (logistics aside). They might have had more successs making somethibg more powerful than 380 but with meaningfully less recoil than 9mm for smaller guns.
Consider the non-X if pocket carrying. Sights are non-snag, and no exposed hammer. Great for hoodie carry as well, shoot right through the pocket, or purse for woman. Dirtbag won't be able to jam up the hammer either if he tries to grab it. Double action especially in self defense situation is no big deal. You won't be shooting it all day especially with the new HST round. I get to about the 4th to 5th shot of the cylinder, and my hand starts to hurt with my LCR. Start with the Hydro-shock. It has considerably less recoil. I heard the Gold Dots are good as well, but haven't been able to find any. 6 shots of that will be plenty.
Good thing about a 327 magnum, you can still use 32 magnum or long, 32 short is ok for certain things and reasons, but they cost more than 32 long and about has much has 32 magnum, availability different in some areas, I still can find 32 long and magnums and few choices of 327 magnum here and there
Great test Tools. I've almost bought a .327 a couple of times. I'm gonna go ahead and do it. I don't have much self control on new guns. I don't think I'll ever buy a Super Carry. Nothing against them at all, it just doesn't do anything for me Hope you have a great week.
I don't own either, but both were fairly impressive, especially the 327 Magnum. If the ammo were cheaper and more available both rounds would be worth considering to me.
@@ToolsandTargets No doubt about it. They didn't even do the monkey bait thing with .327 Mag or 30 Super and offer cheap ammo up front to get people hooked from the beginning. 350 Legend was CHEAP when it first came out and I bought up hundreds and hundreds of rounds, but it has gone up considerably like everything else.
Owning a .327 and loving the caliber is what persuaded me to start reloading. It's a very easy caliber to reload for and it costs me about 20 cents per round to reload it...
I pocket carry a 327 LCR on the farm. But usually carry handloaded 32 H&R Mag. I figure that has enough power for critters around the farm. I occasionally carry the 327 Federal loads for Self Defense. But ammo availability is pretty tough and prices are high. I do like 6 rounds vs 5 that a 38 would have. But truth is, for SD I usually carry a 9mm. The 32 family is too often overlooked for new/elderly shooters. Often a 38 snub is just too much for them to want to practice with. But a 32 long is easy enough, and 32 H&R isn't all that bad for them either. And you can shoot both of those calibers in a 327 Federal revolver. 30 Super Carry unfortuntally will probably never catch on. It will be simular to 357 SIG. Some will love it, but it's never going to catch on.
I got a Smith and Wesson .327 Mag when it was available (I believe it’s a 3 inch barrel). It definitely has power behind the shot. It was fun when you could shoot .32 S&W or .32 S&W Long for cheap, not so much nowadays.
Impressive 327 round. I took my son to the range today. He likes his 22 lr rifle but I put my 410 with slugs in his hands. After a few shots he said " I like this." The person next to us was shooting a 556. My son said " It's time for one of those. I and going to start building a Bear Creek 556/223. Should be fun.
It's a goofy name honestly. The bullet is .312. Same as .32 S&W, .32 S&W Long, .32 H&R Magnum. Nope, gotta name it after the .357 magnum but toss in a "2" in there.... and then hype the marketing materials and claim you get ".357 magnum power" from it. I mean comon. I can get .44 magnum power from a .357 magnum too, if I compare the top tier .357 to the absolute dumpster fire .44.
@@gonzob9609 Yes I know. Only making a point. Manufacturers sure do play games with marketing when a new cartridge hits the stream. .327 was hyped with misleading information. But nothing new. A solid understanding of ballistics always clears the fog and it applies to any and all calibers and bullets and propellants.
Like your Taurus Tools. That 327 sounds like another 327 that was a great engine for awhile, until the 350 overtook it. Keep sling'n and record'n. Good to watch and learn from. Be safe brother 😊
The 350 replaced it, but it never overtook the 327. The Rochester injected 327 had the highest horsepower of any SBC ever. What Chevy should have done is what a few hot rodders have discovered over the years and put a large journal 327 crank in a 400 block, giving you a 358 if you bore the block 60 over.
No, you are most definitely not the only one that wishes that. About 15 or 20 years ago I wrote Mike Shovel at Cor-Bon and asked him then if they'd ever given any consideration to whipping some up over there in a JHP and he said then that it would in all likelihood, not be happening. This is when the CZ-52's were still all over the place for between $99 and $125 at gun shows. I'll tell you what though, if a large manufacturing concern of reputable namesake ever began making guns chambered in it, it's by belief that a strong following would ensue.
They preformed pretty good and I would like to have seen the 30 open up a little more. Another great video brother tools. You are definitely a first class freedom seed testing channel on UA-cam if not the best.
Bought a Taurus,3" stainless 327 magnum back in 2014, was actually looking for a 32 magnum, like caliber 32mag , enough for defence and easy follow up shots, and can also use 32 short and 32 long, but they had several 327 magnums in 2" and 3" 1 in stainless , carry Federal hydra-shok and Speer gold-dot in 327 mag also bought some 100 grain jacketed sp and various 32 magnum ammo, so i consider it a double magnum 😂,32 and 327 magnum, even if 327 becomes a unicorn 🦄 , still have a 32 magnum that was the original plan anyway Still like the shield plus in 30 sc and 16+1
Very cool test and you choosing the HSTs gave them the best odds they’ll ever get. For me, only the 327 occupies its own space ballistically. Sits nicely between 38 special and 357 mag.
@@robkober9139Agreed, I'd much rather take 15 rounds of 30 super carry in a shield than a 327 limited to 7-8 shots. Not to mention the nightmare that is a revolvers trigger reset.
Nice test that clarifies the .327 Magnum is definitely the more powerful of the two. A good SJHP bullet needs to be made for that caliber to foster some fragspanding performance. I'm hoping a gun manufacturer comes out with a pocket pistol about the size of the tiny .380s and chambers it in .30 Super Carry. You'd figure with the diameter of the bullet they should be able to construct a rather flat little pistol that would be more powerful than .380 while giving an extra round or two in the magazine.
If you really want to see the 327 perform, see what it can do with a longer barrel. I have a 6” K frame and it’s perfect. Buffalo outdoors turned the federal 100 gr “target” ammo into impressively expanding hunting ammo out of a Henry rifle at 100 yards.
I have a Taurus 327 and my wife kinda took it from me lol. Wild hogs are starting to pop up on our property so something with more power than her old 380 sounds like a good idea to me.
Great test! SC did pretty good w/ penetration and expansion, but the 327 is a beast. Hope the 327 gets more attn and love from buyers and industry. I am hoping the 327 is just a slow starter like the 10mm was 10 years ago.
10mm was 1983 starter. 1989 it was selected by the FBI. It's been growing in popularity for about 16 years technically. There's also a 10mm Magnum, with a 0.265" longer casing.
@@gonzob9609 Yes. They required the power to be reduced at some point, and along came S&W to create the shorter cased version of what they were using. Funny though, I just watched a video earlier of a 7 year old girl running an SR1911 in 10mm with Underwood, like a champ, better than most adults.
@@exothermal.sprocket Love 1911's, just don't like carrying 3lb guns. 45, and 10mm ammo weight adds up quickly. Have a CMMG Banshee in 45, the loaded mag weighs more than my full loaded LCR, LOL
I dont know much about either of these calibers so this was definately interesting Tools! Hey, I just found plenty of stock of Atomic Ammunition 380 ACP 90 Gr. in nickel plated cases. Its rated at 1100fps and actually seems to be close to its rating too. It did amazingly well in another U-Tube Ammo testers reviews, in his gel tests with heavy denim. Its been very hard to find stock of this until now. Its 21.99 for 20 round boxes so its very affordable for a HP 380 defensive round that easily hits 12"+ in his gel. Just wanted to pass this on to you. Until now, all I could get that I wanted, was Underwoods LeHigh Defense solid copper loads for my 380.
Great comparison. Please do a couple more 30 sc videos if have the ammo to do so. I think it’s got potential, especially if manufacturers offer some other loadings.
Both did well, but I don't see myself investing in 30soup anytime soon. However that 327 would make an excellent decision for revolver carry. A little bit more manageable than 357, recoil about like a stout 38+p resulting in faster follow ups. You either get a slimmer cylinder or an extra round in the same size, (which matters a little bit more in an already lower capacity revolver.) It's just about guaranteed to reach it's expansion threshold with high velocities like that, def increases the probability. It's literally explosive from a rifle, pretty capable of doing a lot of work all around. Then there's the versatility of the 32 fam in general. Sure are a lot of reasons to like the 327 fed mag, very appealing. It's a cartridge I'd like to get into. Great video, appreciate you sharing it. Thanks 👍
Hey i love your videos and i was wondering if you could test fortscott soild copper 762x39 (117g) against normal (124g) fmj i paid 35 a box and i want to know if it was worth it. Thanks and keep up the good work
Both rounds performed nicely. I understand the concept of both but with limited ammo availability and price when you can find it, I’ve never been tempted to try either. The 327 is the more interesting of the two. Thanks for another nice test Tools!
Aw snap. My brother was 100% into the .327, blowing up my phone over how amazing it was, then the .30 Super came out... Then he got into blowing up my phone again... Good video down there sir!
Makes me wish I had gotten a 327 mag instead of my 38 special but I got the 38 when I was first getting into guns so I didn't know any better at the time lol and I don't really use the 38 very often anymore because its hard to find ammo that hits point of aim & expands and does what it is supposed to in it
My biggest hope for 30SC is that we see heavier bullet options in 312 for us handloaders. Gold Dot used to make a 115 grain for 327 Federal but it went away. Maybe it will come back.
I'm with you Tools, 327 clear winner. Not sure why the 30 SC came to be, but whatever floats your boat. Both did well but I don't really want either one, trying to keep things limited to just a few calibers with a variety of tools that shoot them. Be vigilant and always be safe my friend.
I want to see the S&W MP chambered in 327 magnum. With the tempo system they use in the 5.7 and the new 22 magnum, they’ve shown they can handle both (1) long, high pressure rounds; and (2) reliable feeding of rimmed cartridges.
@@gonzob9609 nah, that’s inaccurate on two counts. First, 30 super is cool and all, but it’s no 327. Doesn’t have anywhere near the case capacity. It’s more like a warm 32 h&r. Second, it hasn’t been chambered in the M&P and hasn’t been chambered in a firearm using the tempo system. The shield ez is not the m&p.
@@johnnyk5 How about 1450 fps with an 85 grain XTP right off of the Hodgdon website with A #7. That reload I'm pretty sure will hit 2000 fps out of the High Point carbine. Everything has a trade off. They used fast powder so it burns 100% of the powder, and a 100 grain bullet. Don't think you'd like the blast, sound out of a 3.68" barrel. Go with a full bore 10 MM. I think you're dismissing the whole package. 52K psi to work with is no joke. The different .32 caliber rounds out there have to do with the gun not blowing up. I usually load everything in S&W Long brass for my 327 for ease of sizing, and gaining more barrel, unless I need the volume for longer bullets like the leigh ED, and 100 grain bullets, then I'll use H&R brass. Easily obtainable from Starline. Those HST's are a kick in the nuts even for the 327
That 327 mag seems good. My old 357 mag would bust 1500 and it would kick. I got bored with it and sold it. The 327 mag seemed just right. Super seemed great. I am gonna get me another revolver. Not a Fudd revolver though.😅
If youre going to carry a 2'' snubby the 327 Mag is an efficient round to use. Yes, the 357 Mag is more powerful but the 327 generally gives 80% + of the performance with less recoil and in some revolvers an extra round in the cylinder. The 30 SC is another great cartridge & performs very well BUT it has been chambered in 9mm sized guns and only carries 1-2 more rounds per mag. Even though they're both great cartridges niether appear to be increasing in popularity.
327 Mag FTW! Yeoow! It's too hot in the hot tub! The difference in barrel measurement was a surprise to me too awhile back. A 9mm semi-auto with a 3.1" barrel is really only a 2" when you subtract the SAAMI spec for 9mm overall length of 1.1".
.327 mag is a beast for it's size. A lot of firepower in a small little J-frame. I was never really all that impressed with .30 SC...it always seemed, at least to me, an answer to a question that nobody asked. If they could have packed that kind of performance (even a bit less performance) in a lower pressure round, it could have been a great replacement for .380 auto.
I would chose 327 just cause I’m a revolver guy. Mr Targets or just Tools if we are friendly enough for me to call you by your first name. I have a question I want your opinion on. I’m trying to make a do it all rifle that can be used for personal defense but also medium to large game at reasonable distances. Going with either a 16 or 18 inch ar-10 in 338 federal. The question is which handload do you think will work better? A 225grain speer gold dot at 1900-2200fps or a 165grain Barnes TTSX at 2500-2800fps? I see pros and cons for each such as solid copper holding together well and have a longer point blank with the higher velocity. And the jsp having more inertia and fragmentation potentially creating greater wound tracks in the first few inches of penetration. At the end of the day if there is a difference in accuracy I’ll probably go with the one that holds a tighter group but it’s an interesting question either way.
Full power 327 Fed. is definitely snappy. Practicing with 32 S&W short or long is a lot easier to control and find. 32 H&R Mag is almost impossible to find.
Like the idea of the .327 mag not sure what that .30sc is trying to do. Looks like a great little trail gun with a 4 inch bbl. Very impressive for a 2 inch revolver. I think it might be better than a .38 if not for the ammo availability issue.
The 100 grain bullet they chose was a mistake. I pull the 100 gr HST, and use them for my 327. 85 XTP is the way to go with the 30 for the case capacity. 1500 fps, 430lbs with the 85
Terminal ballistics put it between 380 & 9mm but more to 9mm side for sure. However, it cannot supplant the 380 b/c it simply requires a larger platform for the amount of energy. Deep carry (micro 380) is where 380 is targeted and 30SC & 9mm cannot get there. J-frames can get close but it's revolver platform, slow reload, etc. There's a few auto platforms that tried it but the recoil makes them intolerable for mass appeal.
Given we can fire the 32 ACP in the Taurus 327. Have you checked to see if the 30 super carry will fire in the Taurus 327 also? The 32 ACP, 32 S&W short/long, 32H&R Mag, and the 327 federal magnum all fire from the Taurus 327. The bullet diameter is the same on them all. The 30 super carry brass is slightly larger diameter, longer and rim slightly smaller than the 32 ACP. Also. Will a 32 acp fire thru a 30 super carry semi auto pistol?
You get an extra round out of the same sized frame as compared to a 38/357. If you go down to a J frame, you get 5 shots of 38. You get 6 in the 327, you can shoot 32 H&R mag, 32, or 32 Longs, and the hottest 327 rounds are knocking on some mediocre 357 energy levels.
The real advantage for the 30 Super Carry is capacity, I have a S&W Shield Plus in 30 Super Carry, with the extended mag I have 16+1 on tap, beats 6 everyday all day long. I also have a Ruger SPR 101 in 327 federal, 6 rounds of slap the snot out of it. Yeah, I'm a 32 fanboy, now if I could just find one of those Henry Big Boy Steel in 327 Federal !!!
I've liked the .327 since it was released. I like being different, though. I was a huge fan of the .45 GAP and the .357 SIG is still my favorite carry round. I've now got into to some more "Boutique" chamberings, carrying my full size M&P .45 2.0 as a .450 SMC. Have you tested the SMC or the .45 Super ?
The .327 out of a 4" barrel would be awesome, I like it. The 30 Super Carry is very interesting as well. I want to see it in something better than that S&W though. Like a Beretta or one of those Turkish Hi-Power pistols.
OHHH... this is gonna be interesting... Love .327 🥰 and the "None ever asked for" .30 Super Carry🤮.... Proceed Amigo! And the results are in... .327 all the way!
Nice comparison. I've liked 327. Extra round in the cylinder, can shoot any 32 caliber round and packs a decent punch. Just not a lot of offering in tools for it. I'm waiting to run across a Taurus. Rugers are just too high for what you get. I don't see 30 super carry catching on but that's just me. HSTs rarely disappoint.
Both did were well. The question is which will catch on? The 30 SC is basically a 9 mm lite and it unfortunately has to compete directly with the widely popular 9 mm. So it has a tough slog ahead. The 327 mag. however is more versatile because the revolvers can shoot 32 H&R mag, 32 Long and 32 S&W, which may give it an advantage to catch on. It is also less violent to shoot than the 357 mag, from short barreled revolvers and has an extra round capacity. Great job on these tests, we all appreciate your efforts and commentary is outstanding.
Yes Sir, the .327 Mag, I want one, and cannot believe it is not more popular !

The versatility idea is nice, but honestly it's no less versatile than .38 or .44 or .45.
38 Short Colt, 38 Long Colt, 38 Special, & .357 magnum in the same revolver
44 Russian, 44 Special, & 44 magnum in the same revolver
45 Schofield, 45 Colt, 454 Casull, & 460 S&W magnum in the same revolver
And by the way, the .32acp has a thinner rim so the headspacing won't be as reliable as the other cartridges in that caliber.
@@ToolsandTargetshow bout a 32 relver w 32 super carry on moon clips 😮
Yes indeed that Badd .327 MaG would absolutely knock the fool out a Trouble maker
Good jelly testTools thanks for taking the time to do them Stay Safe Stay 2A Strong 🇺🇸
Thank you as always, my friend!😎👊
Been toying with the idea of getting an LCRx in .327 to stick in a pocket when walking the dog. I think your test just sold it to me.
The ammo cost is the only bad part about it.
BTW, I EDC mine a lot, and you wont even know it's on you. DeSantis makes a great pocket holster for it. Great Licka Stow run gun.
Nothing against them at all, it just doesn't do anything for me
Hope you have a great week.
Thank you sir.😎👊
Well did ya do it?
If ya didn't go do it!
If ya did go get another.

I don't own either, but both were fairly impressive, especially the 327 Magnum. If the ammo were cheaper and more available both rounds would be worth considering to me.
The ammo pricing and availability is the biggest thing that hurts the .327 for sure
30SC can be found as low as 28¢ per round on Ammoseek now.
@@vlogfriendsutopia The HST Tools used here I saw for $1.60 per round. In 9 mm it was $0.80.
Owning a .327 and loving the caliber is what persuaded me to start reloading. It's a very easy caliber to reload for and it costs me about 20 cents per round to reload it...
Another great jelly and informative jelly test Brotha ..
Thank you, my friend!😎👊
0:09 Awesome 😎! I’m looking forward to seeing this!
I got a Smith and Wesson .327 Mag when it was available (I believe it’s a 3 inch barrel). It definitely has power behind the shot. It was fun when you could shoot .32 S&W or .32 S&W Long for cheap, not so much nowadays.
The 327 is awsome in the Henry lever gun.
Nice! 😎👍
Both rounds performed well but the 327 performed like, well, a magnum. Besides, you just gotta love the 327 moniker. It’s synonymous with horsepower
💪
💥😎💥
It's a goofy name honestly. The bullet is .312. Same as .32 S&W, .32 S&W Long, .32 H&R Magnum. Nope, gotta name it after the .357 magnum but toss in a "2" in there.... and then hype the marketing materials and claim you get ".357 magnum power" from it.
I mean comon. I can get .44 magnum power from a .357 magnum too, if I compare the top tier .357 to the absolute dumpster fire .44.
@@exothermal.sprocket 30 SC is also .312 also. 44 mag is actually .428-9 forget.
Now we're talking T and T!! Excellent content!!
I appreciate all of your videos, but odd-ball videos like these I always watch to the end. Kudos on another awesome video.
Im really starting to like the .327 mag. Hot little round for sure.

Am I the only one that wishes 7.62×25mm Tokarev would have a huge resurgence. It’s an awesome round
I carry a Ruger LCR in 327 and stack the rounds 2 32 long 2 H&R magnum, and 2 327. It’s more useful on the farm that way without blowing my ears out.
They preformed pretty good and I would like to have seen the 30 open up a little more. Another great video brother tools. You are definitely a first class freedom seed testing channel on UA-cam if not the best.
Bought a Taurus,3" stainless 327 magnum back in 2014, was actually looking for a 32 magnum, like caliber 32mag , enough for defence and easy follow up shots, and can also use 32 short and 32 long, but they had several 327 magnums in 2" and 3" 1 in stainless , carry Federal hydra-shok and Speer gold-dot in 327 mag also bought some 100 grain jacketed sp and various 32 magnum ammo, so i consider it a double magnum 😂,32 and 327 magnum, even if 327 becomes a unicorn 🦄 , still have a 32 magnum that was the original plan anyway
Still like the shield plus in 30 sc and 16+1

Appreciate that! Gotta keep improving to keep it growing.😎👊
Great testing as always! Thanks!
Very cool test and you choosing the HSTs gave them the best odds they’ll ever get.
For me, only the 327 occupies its own space ballistically. Sits nicely between 38 special and 357 mag.
Perfect test! I was waiting on this
Great test. I really like that .327 magnum thanks for the video
11:20 actually that's exactly what I want to see from a hollow point ammo. That 30 SC surprised me pleasantly. I hope this caliber will spread out.
I agree. You really have to love revolvers to not choose the 30sc based on this.
@@robkober9139Agreed, I'd much rather take 15 rounds of 30 super carry in a shield than a 327 limited to 7-8 shots. Not to mention the nightmare that is a revolvers trigger reset.
Both are impressive. HST has stepped up their game. Keep up the great work
Nice test that clarifies the .327 Magnum is definitely the more powerful of the two.
Yeah, seems like they've kinda just let the 30sc idle along.
If you really want to see the 327 perform, see what it can do with a longer barrel.
I have a 6” K frame and it’s perfect.
Buffalo outdoors turned the federal 100 gr “target” ammo into impressively expanding hunting ammo out of a Henry rifle at 100 yards.

Very interesting pairing! Big fan of the .327mag and very curious regarding the .30s.c.. 👍
@@exothermal.sprocket It basically turned into the 40 S&W
@@gonzob9609 Yes. They required the power to be reduced at some point, and along came S&W to create the shorter cased version of what they were using. Funny though, I just watched a video earlier of a 7 year old girl running an SR1911 in 10mm with Underwood, like a champ, better than most adults.

This demo makes me really miss my SP101 327 Federal.
Thanks 👍

It's a .32 caliber meant to serve in the same role as the crazy popular 9mm, in much the same way that 9mm does.
I want to see the S&W MP chambered in 327 magnum.
With the tempo system they use in the 5.7 and the new 22 magnum, they’ve shown they can handle both (1) long, high pressure rounds; and (2) reliable feeding of rimmed cartridges.
They already have. It's called 30 Super Carry. Same caliber .312, and shoots the same bullets. Rated at 50K psi.
Those HST's are a kick in the nuts even for the 327
I can send you a reloaded 30 Super Carry loaded with H110, but you're not going to like it. LMAO
Powders have improved light years from the days most of these rounds were conceived. Still remember the Universal Red, blue, green dot days. LMAO
13:24 Very good video. They are definitely for different combat situations. Thanks!
That 327 mag seems good. My old 357 mag would bust 1500 and it would kick. I got bored with it and sold it. The 327 mag seemed just right. Super seemed great. I am gonna get me another revolver. Not a Fudd revolver though.😅
30 Super Carry impressed me, but a quick look at the prices shows the HST in 30 SC being double the price of the same HST in 9mm, so what's the point?
That is the big obstacle that .30 SC faces. Most people interested in the caliber will have a change of heart when they look at the price.
The 327 really smacks the hand hard!
These VZ G10 grips I put on my small Taurus revolvers take away any palm slap. Really nice feel to em.😎👍
That .327 magnum surprised me. I think i have just seen my next concealed carry wheel gun.
.327 mag is a beast for it's size.
Appreciate ya, my friend.😎👊
H&R Mag ammo is still available. kills the 380 especially in penetration.
30 super carry really impressed me .
You know I love me some .327! I've never even considered the 30SC. Good test Tools!
I'd give anything to stumble across a Henry in 327 mag. Being that they're discontinued though, chance is slim to none.😣
After the Defiant 308. I ordered 500 rounds. I'll be using them for deer hunting this year. Not cheap but worth it.
😲😲😲 The deer have no chance!
Very good test. You are going to have to open a flower shop with all those flowers you make
Full power 327 Fed. is definitely snappy. Practicing with 32 S&W short or long is a lot easier to control and find. 32 H&R Mag is almost impossible to find.
Use ammoseek website and it'll compile a list.
Like the idea of the .327 mag not sure what that .30sc is trying to do. Looks like a great little trail gun with a 4 inch bbl.
Very impressive for a 2 inch revolver. I think it might be better than a .38 if not for the ammo availability issue.
A 4" trail revolver but also a 327 lever action rifle or a single shot might offer some interesting velocities.
The ammo is always the kicker with 327.😆
@@PassivePortfolios
Now that would be a sweet little combination!
I appreciate that more ammo boxes are listing muzzle velocity, but I wish they would specify barrel length for that result.
Always wondered what the draw was with the .327 mag. It appears to be a good cartridge. Any real life self defense usage info out there?
You get an extra round out of the same sized frame as compared to a 38/357. If you go down to a J frame, you get 5 shots of 38. You get 6 in the 327, you can shoot 32 H&R mag, 32, or 32 Longs, and the hottest 327 rounds are knocking on some mediocre 357 energy levels.
The .312 caliber family has always been great. I think it's sectional density is optimal for self defense.

😎👊
Both did were well. The question is which will catch on? The 30 SC is basically a 9 mm lite and it unfortunately has to compete directly with the widely popular 9 mm. So it has a tough slog ahead. The 327 mag. however is more versatile because the revolvers can shoot 32 H&R mag, 32 Long and 32 S&W, which may give it an advantage to catch on. It is also less violent to shoot than the 357 mag, from short barreled revolvers and has an extra round capacity. Great job on these tests, we all appreciate your efforts and commentary is outstanding.
Great test Tools good video good expansion. Better from the 327 as far as expansion.
I haven't seen a test on the 30 SC before. I'd like to see how to compares to 380 and 9mm. Might make a good pocket carry pistol.
The problem is all the guns for it are sub compact 9mm size at the smallest.😆
