18:45 not a spoiler since in an earlier episode Ed talked about how his theory about how the human transmutation they performed went, that their body’s got entangled (meaning that their portals could also be coexisting), that Ed pulled Al’s soul from the portal, and that eventually Al’s body got stuck in the portal and is existing separately from his soul. So from that and what we see in this episode, it looks like that’s Al’s body in the portal.
The end of this episode sneaks up on you, so no one would blame you for getting a little teary eyed. Afterall, Al deserves it since he’s unable to cry himself 😢
Try to remember the Xerxes fable between Ed and Fu. The ending was added to the anime and the manga creator loved it. It added so more emotion. If you think about it Al is getting nutrients from Ed and since Ed needs more since he is in the world at large and actually moving around. Al is not moving around the muscles are not developing.
I always love Wrath’s backstory. It’s also what finally fills us in on how he’s actually able to age while other homunculi don’t. Wrath was a specially made homunculus, one based on a pre-existing human body rather than a body created by Father (like Lust, Gluttony, Envy, etc). But what’s truly special about him and the reason why he doesn’t age is that Wrath’s philosopher stone contains only one soul. When he was injected with the stone, it recreated and enhanced his body while also augmenting his eye; meanwhile each and every soul within the stone basically fought to the death until only the most wrathful soul within it survived. This soul is Wrath, and he doesn’t even know if he is his bodies original soul or some other soul that was within the stone. Because his stone has only one soul within it, Wrath cannot regenerate like the other homunculi and thus he actually ages (allowing him to very effectively blend in with normal humans over time). It makes Wrath all the more terrifying when you realize he achieves all that he does even without a healing factor.
You getting teary eyed over Al awww. And it is an awesome scene. If I remember, Ed forcing the door open was added for the anime and the mangaka (she was involved in the making of it as the manga wasn't completed at the time of the animes making) was super happy with it.
First reactor I've seen who got teary for Al's body. Truly a great reaction. As is the inner conflict of Bradley. So, that is Al's Body, no tricks no hijinx, no betrayal. Taken by Truth the same way Ed's arm and leg were taken by Truth. Fortunately, Al's soul _isn't_ in their waiting all alone.
The realization setting in that when his brothers body got sent there, then when Ed brought his Soul back. He actually left his body there so it's been there for years at this point waiting. Just breaks my heart every time.
I always like this intro, it has a feeling of excitement and hope. Just like this ep, it is called "Reunion", and "Reunion" happens both in the portal and in reality. And it shows a bitter sweet in the end with hope.
I think I've said it before in another video, but I love the episodes where they build upon the lore and background of the characters and setting. Even though they seem to be giving answers to things we all ask when watching, they usually end with more questions about a specific subject but with a better understanding of the world as a whole. This was another great video, and don't feel bad for one second about showing your emotions; this is a reaction channel after all lol. We've all had those emotions when watching our favorite shows at one point or another. Any how, take care and see you in the next video.
This episode breaks my heart each time. As a big brother thinking about seeing my little brother in that situation and not being able to do nothing hurts
Great great episode with a powerful ending!
Fun fact: That ending scene of Ed punching through the gate is an anime exclusive scene that the mangaka loved so much they kept it!

@TDoughter23 thanks for being along on the ride. Feel so bad for poor Al
You should watch Letts React. He has a breakdown at that scene!
