    I was diagnosed 5 years ago and until recently they called it IPF. New pulmonologist took 16 viles of blood on one stick and out of that thinks grain dust caused it. Im on oxygen 24/7 and the last year have gotten considerably worse. I refused the 2 medications that may or may not slow the progression. The side effects wasn't worth it to me. I will let God handle it.

    I had pulmonary tuberculosis and after 6 months I'm fine and finished my medical.
    It leaves a permanent scar to my lung. It was way back 2017.
    Now I got xrayed this 2024 because it is needed from my Job and detected that I have Pulmonary Fibrosis at my left lung.
    Could it be mistakenly classified as Fibrosis since I already got scars from tuberculosis in the first place?
    I never had a hard time of breathing. I always love walking. I always got 10k footsteps a day. And I also gained weight like from 56kg last year to ,58kg this year.

    • @MedicalCentric
      @MedicalCentric  2 місяці тому +3

      @yosomitsu It’s possible that the pulmonary fibrosis detected in your recent X-ray might be scarring from your previous tuberculosis, as old TB scars can sometimes resemble fibrosis on imaging. Your healthy lifestyle, lack of breathing issues, and weight gain are positive indicators, but only a healthcare professional can confirm if it’s a misclassification or new development through further tests like a CT scan or pulmonary function tests. It’s best to discuss these findings with your doctor for clarity.

    What is the lifetime of Patients with ILD-PPFE , TBB ?? , my wife diagnosed with this and any chance of recovery?

    • @MedicalCentric
      @MedicalCentric  5 місяців тому

      @amitrathod1232 I'm really sorry to hear about your wife's diagnosis. Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF), Pleuroparenchymal Fibroelastosis (PPFE), and Tuberculous Bronchitis (TBB) are serious lung conditions, and the prognosis can vary depending on the severity, progression, and response to treatment. Generally, these conditions are chronic and can be challenging to manage, with IPF and PPFE often leading to progressive lung function decline. However, treatment options such as medications, pulmonary rehabilitation, and in some cases, lung transplantation, may help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. It's essential to work closely with a pulmonologist to explore all available treatment options and to get a clearer understanding of her specific prognosis. Every case is unique, and ongoing medical care can make a difference.

      @margiepamintuan613 A "density on the right lung" in an X-ray could indicate a range of things, from something as simple as an infection (like pneumonia) to more serious conditions such as a tumor or scarring. • @MedicalCentric
      @MedicalCentric  6 місяців тому +1

      Amiodarone, a medication used to treat irregular heart rhythms, can indeed have side effects, including pulmonary fibrosis. This condition involves scarring of the lung tissue, which can lead to breathing difficulties. If your dad developed pulmonary fibrosis from amiodarone, it’s crucial to work closely with his healthcare team to manage the condition and explore alternative treatments or interventions to address both the fibrosis and the underlying heart issue. Regular monitoring and supportive care are essential in such cases.

    well great. I HOPED this video, based on some of the comments, offered hopeful treatments. But I don't see any. Husband, (a lifetime smoker who only just quit last Sept, and a trucker so many nights spent breathing in truck stop fumes, lung damage is not a surprise really.) got sick in Nov. Puked up brown stuff.... made it home to see the doctor, the put him right in the hospital. Low red count AND further tests showed cancer of the esophagus. (He's also had heartburn forever, I met him in the 80s. he's lived on tums, rollaids, later prescription stuff. I only just learned in the past year or so this is the polar opposite of what SHOULD be done for heartburn. Namely take MORE acid not reduce it. AND that having chronic heartburn also damages the lungs. Ya think just ONE of our doctors over decades would know this? I have to learn it on youtube??? Well his cancer treatment was successful, no more cancer. BUT his chronic cough got markedly worse after treatments. Emphysema AND lung scaring now. One doctor actually did mention that the radiation may have triggered the worsening of this. (Gees he's coughed forever but only now actually can't catch his breath.) They wanted to put him on ofev, but wow, side effects include liver AND kidney damage. He actually took a trip to the mayo clinic to get another opinion and that doctor said don't bother with it. It won't help much and the damage it causes won't help matters at all. He was suppose to start physical therapy but.... on a waiting list for two months and counting. "Not enough staff." (Yea thank you OBAMA for your shitty health care crap, and for covid vaccine mandates, many health care people just up and quit!) His difficulty breathing has gotten worse in just weeks. To the point he can barely walk around the house let alone do anything. On oxygen now too.

    • @MedicalCentric
      @MedicalCentric  5 місяців тому

      @artmakersworlds I'm really sorry to hear about what you and your husband are going through-it sounds like an incredibly difficult situation, especially after all the challenges with his health and the lack of clear guidance from the healthcare system. Pulmonary fibrosis, especially when coupled with a history of smoking, cancer treatment, and other lung conditions, can be a tough battle. The side effects of medications like OFEV (which is prescribed for pulmonary fibrosis) can indeed be severe, and it's frustrating to hear that the alternative advice you've received doesn't offer much hope either.
      It's understandable to feel let down by the healthcare system, especially when it seems like important information or treatments weren't communicated clearly over the years. The delays in physical therapy due to staffing issues are particularly disheartening, as timely intervention could make a big difference in managing symptoms and improving quality of life.
      Given the circumstances, it might be worth exploring palliative care options, which focus on improving quality of life and managing symptoms rather than trying to cure the disease. Palliative care teams can often offer support with breathing issues, pain management, and emotional support, both for your husband and for you as his caregiver.
      It’s also important to advocate for the best care possible, even if it means seeking second opinions or looking into specialized centers that might have more experience with complex cases like your husband's. I know it’s exhausting, but your persistence in seeking the best care is invaluable.
      Please don't hesitate to seek out support groups, both online and in your community, where others who are going through similar challenges can offer advice, comfort, and a listening ear. You don’t have to go through this alone, and sometimes, the shared experiences of others can provide new insights or just some much-needed comfort.
      You're doing everything you can, and that counts for so much. Take care of yourself as well during this tough time-your well-being matters too.

    My mother is having this and she's 24/7 on oxygen. I don't know what to do.

    • @MedicalCentric
      @MedicalCentric  Місяць тому

      @negasonicteenagewarhead I'm really sorry to hear that your mother is going through such a difficult time, and I can only imagine how overwhelming it must feel for you. When someone relies on oxygen 24/7, it often indicates a serious respiratory condition, like COPD, pulmonary fibrosis, or another chronic lung disease, and it can be emotionally and physically exhausting for both the person and their caregivers.
      Here are a few steps you can take to support your mother and manage the situation:
      1. **Ensure Consistent Care**: It’s crucial that she receives regular medical attention. If she hasn’t already, a pulmonologist (lung specialist) might be able to offer more specific treatments or management plans. Regular checkups are essential to adjust her oxygen needs and address any new symptoms.
      2. **Monitor Oxygen Levels**: Keeping track of her oxygen saturation levels (with a pulse oximeter) is important, especially if she’s using supplemental oxygen at home. This can help you recognize if her oxygen levels drop too low, which may require immediate medical attention.
      3. **Create a Comfortable Environment**: Ensure that she is comfortable and has easy access to her oxygen supply. Proper ventilation, a calm environment, and minimizing allergens or pollutants can also help reduce respiratory stress.
      4. **Manage Mental Health**: Chronic illness can be emotionally draining, so it’s important to also focus on her mental well-being. Encourage open conversations, and consider talking to a counselor or therapist if she is struggling with feelings of isolation or depression.
      5. **Seek Support for Yourself**: Caring for someone who is so dependent on oxygen can be overwhelming. Look into support groups or talk to a healthcare professional to help you manage your stress and ensure you're taking care of your own health, too.
      6. **Emergency Preparedness**: Have a plan in case of an emergency-know when to seek urgent care, and make sure you always have backup oxygen cylinders and equipment in case something malfunctions.
      You’re doing your best by being there for her, and it’s understandable to feel unsure about what to do next. If you ever feel lost or unsure, don’t hesitate to reach out to her healthcare team-they can help guide you in managing her condition more effectively.
      I truly hope your mother finds some relief, and I’m sending you both strength during this tough time. ❤️
