Thank you for this excellent video. Remember, if you have a patient with clubbing and crackles, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis should be high up your list of differentials, but it isn't the only differential. Consider sarcoidosis, lung cancer, bronchiectasis, collagen vascular diseases as well as, of course, asbestosis too.
I have this right now. My mom died due to TB and my dad died due to Ulcer. 3 days ago the doctor told me this is my findings. She states that its not so serious and i told her i research this type of disease. She told me not to worry about it and gave me . A prescription consist of Tranexamic Acid, Amoxicillin, Azithromycin. I fear for my life, no one is beside me i have a lot of things to accomplish but this thing made me give up and let the time tell.
This is what killed my mom. Four years is all it took. Never smoked, nothing. The only thing I can figure is maybe because she grew up in West Virginia and had polia and TB as a child that maybe that contributed somehow. She had only 1/4 left of function in one lung, got double pneumonia and died in 2 days. Seriously sucked. I was with her when she died, so at least she wasn't alone.
Hey..i am really sorryy for your loss..🙏🏻if it doesn't bother you , can you please suggest a better medication. My husband died from IPF just over 5 yrs ago. The Specialist said it was either very aggressive or he’d had it a while and had learnt to live with it. From being admitted into the hospital 21st July with breathing difficulties, it took 10 days to diagnose him, and he died 8 August. This disease is worse than cancer, there is no cure.

Deterioration of the lungs CAN be stopped by using high quality Manuka honey through a nebuliser. I was diagnosed with IPF in 2007. Within 2 months of starting this treatment my coughing had reduced 98%, and within 6 months the disease was no longer progressing. I still suffer from this disease, but 15 years later I am still here, thanks to that magnificent honey.
Hey Sam, Can you please tell me more about it? My father is also suffering from post-covid IPF and his entire left lung is honeycombing now. He stopped getting better since last December and now has trouble standing up for more than 5 minutes.

Hi guys, thanks. We are right now trying new meds the doc gave. Now he is taking those with nebulizer. But I also ordered Manuka Honey. So we will try it after seeing results from the new meds. They are positive for atleast right now. Thanks guys.
I wonder if the post-COVID fibrosis we are seeing in a lot of our ICU pts (has a similar CT appearance of honeycombing) will result in similar median survivals as mentioned at the end, 5 years.
I guess it depends on the extent of the damage. If the scar tissue takes up a larger area or scattered in both lungs it´s possible that it will be similar...
No, not at all coz PC ILD/PF is not progressive at all as opposed to IPF. But, for these patients what we face is it becomes difficult to wean off from ventilator/oxygen. So we hv to go for B/L Lung transplant if possible

Thank you for your videos. I’m learning so much! Would a finding (CT Chest w/o Contrast) of mild scattered linear atelectatic and/or fibrotic changes seen right middle lobe, lingual, right lower lobe, left lower lobe be indicative of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis? No acute consolidation or effusion is noted. No significant hilar or mediastinal adenopathy is noted. No suspicious nodule is noted. PT is Non-smoker, but possible exposure to second hand smoke, pets (dog + cat), and cleaning products. + cough & dyspnea on exertion
See, there are many reasons for the findings you have mentioned. Basically, these findings are consistent with Post infectious PF rather than IPF. Nowadays many patients are coming to chambers and we see these changes and its a after effect of COVID. Its prudent to place the patient on Antifibrotics like Esbriet. Repeat HRCT after 6 - 8 months and see the changes. If the fibrotic pattern resolves, then don't think of IPF.

It's short for N Acetylcysteine. The body uses it to make Glutathione. Glutathione is a very powerful antioxidant. It's been found to fight fibrosis and stop it growing anymore. Not just in lungs but in breast tissue as well. It's actually used already for lungs, asthma sufferers inhale it and it helps remove mucus from the lungs. It's used to help in overdose of paracetamol. It's also used for acute pancreatitis attacks, drs inject it into patients to reduce the inflammation. It can also be used with nintedanib and pirfenidone safely. I gave this to my friend, he was always coughing, in 3 days he was feeling much better. He finally went to doctor last week and found out he has IPF. Doctor gave him nintedanib and told him to keep taking NAC. I've been researching IPF since then. I've also found Tocotrienols might be useful in the fight. I've ordered some for him to try.
