Back in the day the toothpick was made of something stiffer and was therefore more useful. Somebody at Victorinox decided to go with a cheaper (I assume) plastic that is so flexible I find that the toothpick is now nearly useless. Does anyone know of a better reason that the toothpick is now so flexible? If so, please tell.
It may have been justified, besides the likely cost savings, by the fact that a lot of people who notice and care are people who may also own one of those: nested, screw in, metal keychain toothpicks. And, at that point, may appreciate the softer version for delicate tasks, as they already have a rigid variation in their EDC. Edit: I agree, by the way.
I remember it being a brighter white more rigid plastic as well... But it was when I was really young and could have been a fake or maybe a Mandela effect
Here’s a request for a longer, more detailed video about using the toothpick and the tweezers to pick the lock. (In particular, a video where the pictures aren’t covered up by the ads for other videos.)
Somebody told me about one of the most important of these uses: To use the butt, hooked end to substitute for thumbnail to unfold another of the tool's features (like for people with weak or too-short a thumb nail).
Yes...thank you I figured that out and ordered a Ranger and it is now my favorite SAK! Thinking of getting the Handyman too...like the pliers and is a bit smaller than my Champ !!!@@timetheory84
@briangenn6479 the whole point is, if you're carrying a Swiss army knife, you have this multifunctional tool already in your possession... It doesn't need to be sought out before performing the task. How many wooden toothpicks are in your pocket at any given time?? Dipshit.....
Once you use the toothpick to clean gunk out of ... wherever, it's basically finished for picking your teeth. Also, lock picking doesn't seem to work. My burgling skills are of a low order.
You put your hands all over the cheese and sausage, then use the tooth pick to be sanitary?? C'mon. Then use it to clean the opening of a tube of glue?? Its primary purpose is to be used in ones mouth. Yuck.
You could *start* by quitting the nail-biting - disgusting and childish habit. Some were quite resourceful, especially when actual toothpicks are in most every restaurant/diner/café anyway and for home you got floss. Or for my preference, floss sticks - all-in-one toothpick and piece of floss strung between 2 anchor points to easily reach your whole mouth without having to jam 2 fingers slide down parallel to your molar gum line. I’ve also seen them called ‘floss harps’ for the resemblance that single piece of floss has for a string musical instrument, albeit unitonal in nature and not particularly recognisable.
Absolutely not. You had me right up till the end. Those practise padlocks are nothing like a proper lock. They pop open from just about anything poking around in the key way. This is complete misinformation that you could use it to help pick a lock. I’m triggered. Otherwise, decent ideas. Ha!
I don't think anyone ever used that dirty thing to clean they teeth... It is safer if you cut a small piece of wood or sharpen a matchstick for that goal. Although I'm not sure you can find matchsticks nowadays...
I started carrying alcohol pads because I needed to disinfect the knives before and after cutting foods. Also, for a long time, I would wonder why anyone would use the toothpick from the knife? So I tried it and discovered that it is one of the best; sleek and comfortable.
The key to using the knife is your preception that everything they put there has multiple purpose. So you look st them with your creative imagination. You could do that with every tools we come across but it was not markeyed that way so we limit our imagination.
@stephanieyee9784 well of course they could.... The point is that, if you're carrying a Swiss army knife, you already have this multifunctional tool at the ready....you don't hafta go find/fashion a device to complete the task at hand. Dipshit.....
The zip-tie release trick will be useful. Thanks!
There should be two toothpicks. One for teeth, and one for everything else.
not sure about using it for raking muck out of holes,as a cocktail stick and dental hygene.
The last one was intriguing. I’m going to give it a try once I find my knife.
You touch / hold the meat and the cheese with your bare hands to cut it but need a toothpick to eat it ?
😀
That's about as silly as covid masking hey?😂
This secret use of the toothpick as a normal toothpick is amazing...
Good to know, because it is a LOUSY toothpick; it's WAY too thick to go between teeth that don't have a a Michael-Spinx-sized gap.
Interesting but it seems clear that after 1 of these 10 uses you must forget the original one : clean your teeth !
Just maybe be careful which of his tricks you do before your suggestion. Or you'll glue your teeth together 😅
But would you want to put that in your mouth after all the other places he put it?
I like losing the pick and breaking the twizers and scissors
That’s not a secret
😂
Brilliant. I like the key ring split ring opener and zip tie opener. Simple but brilliant.
After watching this i doubt it was ever intended to be a toothpick, most useful tool there is there 👍
autism activities
Love these vids! Thank you!

You can just make one
True , it’s because we were running out of Elephants
I remember it being a brighter white more rigid plastic as well... But it was when I was really young and could have been a fake or maybe a Mandela effect
I use to have 1 that was mettal
Excellent toothpick tips I never realised. Great stuff
Not made of ivory
One more tip: I've actually known people who use toothpicks to pick their teeth...
I have been doing the zip tie trick for years. Love it!
Actually: uncoupling zip ties is the main use I get from the corkscrew
Cleaning under nails is probably what most people use it for.
Wax out of apple ear pods

Where on earth are you storing your phone? Oh yeah, in the earth.
All he had to do was remove the case, wash it and clean the grotty hole sans case.
You forgot to show using the toothpick as a pry up to help aide in removal of ticks with the tweezers.
Seems like the tweezer alone is slim enough to slide under a partially imbedded tick.
It's prolly actually flatter than the toothpick.
I fought off a grizzly bear attack with the ever versatile tooth pick.
😀
Joe Rogan would be proud
Secret my arse. Eating a piece of cheese with a toothpick. Unsubscribed!
why eating with toothpick ? eat it with your hands like slice it...
What model Victorinox did you use in this video ?? Looks like 5 layer !
Yes...thank you I figured that out and ordered a Ranger and it is now my favorite SAK! Thinking of getting the Handyman too...like the pliers and is a bit smaller than my Champ !!!@@timetheory84
😢 funny, it does everything a wooden toothpick can do.
@briangenn6479 the whole point is, if you're carrying a Swiss army knife, you have this multifunctional tool already in your possession... It doesn't need to be sought out before performing the task. How many wooden toothpicks are in your pocket at any given time??
Dipshit.....
Are you using the victornox huntsman?
Keep a dental floss nearby instead of using the toothpick
The toothpick can do more things in the knife
nice ideas, I debate the use to pick a padlock though, that's not going to work like that, anyone into lock picking as a hobby knows that
Good grief I bought a top of the range SAK years ago and never realised most of these tricks.
You mean you bought something too bulky for you to carry regularly so you don't ever have it with you when you could implement it's many functions?
Многие ругают зубочистку в ноже, но они просто не понимают ничего в ножах victorinox,а ты - умный.
Does it really work that easy removing the scales?
Yes, it is very friendly... Give it a go (and clean the horror behind the scales too) :D
If you step on dog shit, you can also use the Victorinox Swiss Knife’s toothpick to wipe it from your tennis shoe… 🙃
Once you use the toothpick to clean gunk out of ... wherever, it's basically finished for picking your teeth. Also, lock picking doesn't seem to work. My burgling skills are of a low order.
The toothpick has only one use, removing pocket lint from your sak.
It can also be used to remove dingle berries from your bung hole and as a tooth pick.
lol, then pick your teeth with it.
You put your hands all over the cheese and sausage, then use the tooth pick to be sanitary?? C'mon. Then use it to clean the opening of a tube of glue?? Its primary purpose is to be used in ones mouth. Yuck.
I use it to play my guitar
Useful. But you could have left the toothpick out of the knife after the first one.
Those tester locks are easy to open i have one i just slam the pick sideways and it opens try it on a regular lock 😅
great info.
mod. Ranger❓
salute you from Argentina.
I hope he used the pick as a cheese skewer 'before' he cleaned out his phone.🤢
useing a toothpick as a toothpick? really?
А еще можно макнуть её в краску или чернила и сделать надпись
Why would you want to remove the outer cover of the penknife?!
Some folks buy custom scales for their SAK. I remove them to engrave them for customers, then out them back on.
In some knives there is a groove in the inner side of the case for another tool.
The last one is crazy I hope this is true
Спасибо. Есть интересные моменты.

Lmao, 10/10 for effort but none of these were very good

0:46 is this real cheese?
Encore les mêmes astuces copiées sur une autre chaîne Y T 👎

Tip trash thst plastic crap one and make one out of stainles spoke wire = more versatile
…. and the ultimate use is removing fluff from your phone charging socket.

Cool😎
Cool!
Thanks! I was just telling someone how the pick isn't so useful today. lol
I use it also for cleaning my sak. Get the pocket lint out of it.
Wow, a very useful video, thanks!
Lost mine. How to get another? Toothpick
On the website
Bonjour. Superbe vidéo merci. Quel modèle de Victorinox est ce ? Amitiés
It can also be used to pick your teeth.
1:10 beer is needed 🍺
I dont even have a SAK but find these videos interesting. Some of the "hacks" could be replicated with other things.
@stephanieyee9784 well of course they could.... The point is that, if you're carrying a Swiss army knife, you already have this multifunctional tool at the ready....you don't hafta go find/fashion a device to complete the task at hand.

TRICKY!👍👍💪
Secret?
Know where modeling clothes
Hard to argue with that.
Whyyy?😵💫
Well isn't that special!
This is the kind of guy who can survive in the wilderness with only one stick: he finds functionality in every single item👍🤣
Very nice.
You are so smart
👍👍
Wow, my guy. You really need to put some of the more impressive use cases first! It was a very good video with a lackluster start.
He really needs to omit the rediculous uses of the tooth pick.
