Thank you so much, Southern Girl! I am the least crafty person I know and was still able to do my chairs because of your great instructions. So much money was saved! Thanks again.
Hey Kathy awwweee Thank you for watching & leaving a comment. I would love to know how everything turned out. I've had a lot of personal issue this year, so my apologies for the late response. Smooches to You😘
This is BY FAR the best tutorial I've seen for chair recovering. The smiley face/neck tie tip was brilliant. I also really loved the way you took time to explain how to figure out the amount of fabric needed for each chair. I am a complete novice but now I am actually excited! Thank you!
That is my GIRL!!! I love this project, and I love the fabric that you used. I have been contemplating recovering my bar chairs. My infant nephew, pulled up the vinyl off one of the chairs. Every time I look at the chair I cringe. Part of my wanted to recover them, bit then I wanted to purchase new chairs for my bar, because these are 26' and I really need 30', and they are so hard to come by at an affordable price for three. After this party this Saturday, I think that will be one of my projects. Great job lady!!
Hey My Juani....thank you so much ...eveyr now and then some home fabs come in 60" widths so check around ...If I come across some I will let you know. I know your getting ready for the big game so stay Blessed and have fun:)
I've been looking at videos for a while now, your's is the best at explaining how to measure how much fabric to buy. Thank you for this valuable information.
Hey Patricia sorry for My late response...been a hard year for me, I lost both of My Parents...but I'm so happy this video was able to help you with your project. Thanks for Watching...Hugs & Love to You🤗😘
I have been surfing the net for sales on dining room sets. I am so glad I found this DIY project. This will save me at least $500 dollars that I was going to spend on a sale item. I can't wait to try it.
You are the only tutorial that I have seen that addresses the fact the staples don’t always go in all the way. I recovered some things a few years ago. I have the exact stapler you do. I had a lot of trouble getting the staples all the way in. I had to use a hammer too. Everyone else always makes it seem like all their staples just go in perfect. I realize a pneumatic stapler works better. However I really appreciate your being real. Thank you.
PERFECT! BEST TUTORIAL! Flawless presentation and project. Yarn dyed fabrics are my favorites...And I can only agree with staying away from top dyed fabrics if you want lasting durability. Great job!
Aww Cathryn..... you know I love you vids and honey you can "SANNG" ..thank you I do have some pillow tutorials coming soon ...haven't come across my perfect fabric just yet but I know it's out there ...so stay tuned:)
AMATEUR DECORATING LIKE A PRO YES! I would be honored! Let know what you would like to do and I'm there:) I'm looking for some fabric for my family room ..it's in need of some "Pillow Love".
I searched for simple instructions and you did just that. I will be following and filming my project really soon. I am trying to narrow down the fabric choice, the possibilities are endless now.
1stLaDee2002 Hey 1stLaDee2002 (what a lovely pic of you).....It makes me happy to know that this video was helpful to you. I would love to see how your chairs come out...I know they will be great.....but you are right what fabric to choose....LOL ...It took me a minute to decide on a new fabric too but when you see it you will know it's the right fabric.....Thank you so much for watching my video and Many Blessings to you:)
Love that you explain how to purchase fabric! It seems no one else starts at the very beginning. And reusing the bottom cover is great. Thanks for all the good info.
I absolutely love that you broke down how to figuring out how much fabric to buy. I've watched five videos this morning & you were the first to do this and explain fabric choices. Thank you for putting out a truly informative video!!!
About to do this project. Have watched a lot of these and you have been the most helpful. One technique you do differently from other skilled upholsters is not tightening fabric with the 4 sided staple method first. You wait for the last side. Your corner technique is the best! Thks so much. I think I will staple all four center sides first and continue your technique. Thks for the care and let vying details we need. :)
We just bought used dining room chairs to replace our chairs with caned backs that had dried out over the years and split. I decided to reupholster the new/used chairs. Thanks for this step by step video. I now feel confident in doing it myself.
Okay, I bought the material yesterday, and I already had the staples, staple gun, scissors, etc., but I'm going to attempt to do the same with my dining room table chairs. Your video makes it look so easy. I'm looking forward to doing this over the next few days. I'll keep you posted. Terrific video! Thanks!
Here's the update. I finished reupholstering my six dining room chairs on Saturday! The cover that was on there was orange and white (kinda flowery), and it wasn't attractive, and it was on there with staples. Underneath that cover was a green burlap material that was on there with nails. Taking out all the nails and staples was very time consuming and tedious. So, we threw away both those old materials and the one inch cushion which looked very old and very worn. A friend of mine helped me with all this stuff over the several days that we worked on this project. Without his help, I couldn't have done it. So, we cleaned the wood seats really well after getting rid of the old material and the old 1 inch cushion. Then, we put the new 2 inch foam cushions on the wood seat so that we could cut the shape of the cushions to fit the seat. If you have an old electric turkey carving knife, that will work well because that's what we used to cut the foam, and the cutting the foam part was not difficult. So, don't go buy a new electric material cutting knife if you have an old electric turkey cutting knife. We were trying to cover the chairs, but it was a slow process because I forgot about cutting out the smiley faces where the neck ties are, and it was slow because I was trying to get any and all wrinkles out of the fabric as we're putting it on the cushion. Then, we went frame by frame with your video to be able to finish the last three chairs or so. The material I used was stripes. It's a navy blue along with a blue that's a little bit lighter than the navy. It's an every other stripe scenario. It's a lot more work than I anticipated, but the chairs look great! I sent pics of the chairs to a friend of mine, and he thought they were professionally done. I think he was being too kind, but the fabric looks really good on the chairs. I want to take a chair to the fabric place to show the nice lady there how they turned out. Southern Girl, your video really helped a lot. Thank you for your informative video. Again, this was a lot more work than I anticipated just because whoever did the chairs originally used a lot of staples and nails, and removing them was very challenging! We used a hammer, pliers, a butter knife and a drill bit to remove the nails and staples. Again, the chairs look great. Thank you again for your video! God Bless!
Clear and complete and a pleasure to watch! Together with your video on how to work with a pattern repeat = simple but foolproof instructions for great-looking results!
+Barbara Iverson Hey Barbara I'm so happy you enjoyed my video...this is a project that can really update your space with minimal cost. Thank you for the compliment & watching......have an awesome weekend:)

First I would like to say "Thank you." for posting this video. The instructions were clear and concise, I was able to follow each and every step. The chart that you created at the beginning of the video to help me to figure out how much fabric to buy ( I have eight chairs) work wonderfully. I recovered my dinning room chairs with a fun and bold print to add a pop of color to the room. All of my friends and family love the new look that I have given the room.
Hey Lakedra (petty pic of you).......thank you for your comment....makes me happy to hear about your success:) Now your family & friends will want you to do theirs LOL! TFW & Smooches
I have been putting this off for so long, but you have inspired me. I especially appreciate your description of fabric and how to calculate how much will be needed. Thank you!
Southern Girl. You are wonderful. Clear, easy instructions and you have such a nice way about you, it gives me more confidence to take on this project. Last time, I just did it without Knowing how and have hated how seats looked. This holiday it'll look like a pro did them. Thank you so much.
Thanks so much. You make it look so easy. I keep putting it off but you reassured me that except for time it is not that difficult. I love how you explained the process for the corners. This is always my problem.
Heeeey Sasha.....this is a project you can do...once your get through the process on the first one the rest will go faster! I have found that the necktie technique works on all fabrics.....So now you can knock out your project!!!! TFW & Smooches:)
Thank u so so much for this video!!! I just bought a french provincial chairs and table set, it was very outdated and the chairs had to be reupholstered. I followed directions and it looks so beautiful!! Got it done for like 5$ too!! Super easy and cheap!!

OMG!!! I love this! I was sitting here thinking i need a new dinette set, when all I needed was to give the chairs a 'face lift'. Thank to you for this video and my little sister for the thought of "recovering the chairs instead of buying new ones".. Hi, Things turned out pretty well. Next project I'm definitely getting a lighter gauge material. And I'm investing in an electric power stapler lol Thanks again for the great video.
Great job! Your instructions were spot on. The new chair covers bring such a cheerful mood to the space with the burst of color. I also loved the fabric that was on the chairs prior to recovering. Thanks for sharing.
Hey Keri ...thank you sometimes I think that you can do something so much that you can forget some steps when you are trying to show others so I'm glad that the instructions hit all points...I did love my old fabric but it was coming up on 5 years of use ....funny it was the Greek Key ...I've had it long enough now it's back in style again go figure:)

Thank you for this. I just finished some chairs for my wife and I'm pretty sure your "necktie" suggestion made all the difference.
Old tutorial but still answered all my questions about how much fabric to buy and how to cut it. Thank you!
