Skiing the hardest trail at Gore Mountain - "The Rumor"

- Do you know what scares me on the mountain?
SIGNS. When the signage at the trailhead says, "WARNING! DO NOT FALL! YOU WILL DIE!!" even the most seasoned experts feel afraid.
Fear is just your body asking you to be careful, so strap in and full send.
We traveled to Gore Mountain in New York to find this intimidating double black diamond run. The snowmakers had been making whales all week, and the only way in was to drop in off a whale that dwarfed the surrounding trees.
The first 10 feet or so was an absolute sheer cliff, but after that BUMP HEAVEN!

videos never do steep terrain justice! having stood at the top of that trail several times it's _always_ a thrill when you first peek over the edge and see that slippery perilous headwall... nicely done
Thanks! These 360 cameras really help do steeps justice on film ☃️
Y’all are out of your minds 😂 But I love you both and thank goodness you didn’t die 😂
I haven't consented to death yet so it legally can't take me ☃️
New subscriber! I love skiing videos.
Wooo! Thanks ☃️
very cool!
😁
Thanks ☃️
@@SkiEverything no problem!
im just happy to be along with the ride
Wooo! ☃️
Good Going, Rachel! [Laura from Secret Society ;) ]
She's so good ☃️
@@SkiEverything I'm hoping you might share what camera you used.
It's the Insta360 X3 :) I used the chest mount, but i prefer using the unicorn helmet mount.
@@SkiEverything Nicely done!
Thanks ☃️
It's definitely thrilling to go over that Headwall especially into giant moguls directly below! I'd argue though that the "Double Barrel" glade and liftline to skier's right of Rumor is more technically challenging with narrow double fall lines and multiple mandatory little rocky cliffs
I definitely agree with you there!
This rumor trail looks similar to ripcord at mt snow with that drop off
I never got a chance to get to Gore. Only hunter mountain in New York with that K-27 trail
I'll have to check out ripcord this season!
Keep Shredding
Heck yes ☃️
Unfortunately, rumor doesn't stay like that for too long. We just have too many freeze thaw cycles, and they end up grooming it every so often.
I don't understand the snow on these trails. I haven't skied Gore in 30 years, but before The Rumor even existed, Hawkeye used to be the trail with the headwall that you couldn't see over the edge (about the same pitch but shorter headwall). And what drove me crazy were the mounds of man made snow that were unevenly distributed on the trail. TBH, it looks much worse on The Rumor. is that just wind blowing the snow to one side before it can settle? There were never any real moguls either. Rumor looks the same. edit: thanks for the vid. it was the first I can remember seeing this run with the 360 cam.
Those mounds (whales) are from the snow guns. Each one blows on one spot and it piles up quick. Resorts do this to open a trail early and generate a deep base quickly. They had pushed out the whales the week after I filmed that.
I did a Tripple black at big sky Montana. It was scary as fuck. So much better with the powder
That's awesome! I definitely need to head there soon ☃️
PIN is skiing is cool
Yeeeew ☃️
The best time to start is now ☃️
double black? at my mountain that would be a regular black
Where's that?
Top and bottom are always the worst
There was a steep narrow line between whales at the bottom the caught me off guard
