Another great tutorial, I've been learning quite a lot from ur vids 👌I have a question tho, it's about an idea of mine for a shader which i've been trying to make for a long while but can't seem to wrap my head around it. Basically, i'm trying to make a procedural stitching shader, where each stitch automatically aligns itself to the edges of the mesh so it looks realistic. Substance Painter has this built-in I believe, and I wondered if it would be possible to recreate in Blender? What do you think?

Well, one simple way to have lines orthogonally aligned to the edge of your geometry would be to use UV coordinates. In case you need help with texture coordinates, a 3D UA-camr named Erindale has one of the best videos on the topic. I really recommend Erindale for anyone interested in some advanced noding!

@@peppersiegel7636 Ahh, Erindale, the wizard headmaster of nodes, of course i know him 😅. Didn't see that vid from him, but i'll go check it out, thank you.

@RabbitHoleSyndrome made an entire video on this topic where he teaches geometry nodes by creating a custom stitch effect. Its pretty cool you should check it out ua-cam.com/video/VlSs430PAeU/v-deo.html&ab_channel=RabbitHoleSyndrome

bro how did you learn procedural shading?

I watched a bunch of UA-cam videos, and practiced for a while. There isn’t any “secret sauce” to learning blender. Just mess around with shading for a couple days, it’s super fun!
