this is what hero do!!! no regard for themselves but having presence of mind enough to remember his training but also just know he's got to save this life. true selflessness. this is a man who rans at bullets when people are running away. people need to look at themselves in the mirror and ask if they deserve the disrespect and utter nastiness that gets spewed at them everyday. when are you going to need someone to risk there life for yours. have you given them all the respect and understanding you should have? sadly none of that matters they do it regardless, because its their calling as well as their job. keep that in mind the next time you have an interaction with them and know they would risk their life if you were in trouble and needed it. so thank them and treat them with the utmost respect, what they deserve. are you gutsy enough to put that uniform and put your life on the line? understand they are just people (people with a special ability most of us don't have) they make mistakes but until you are in that exact position don't render judgement on something you know little or probably nothing about. thank you for all the heroism we receive daily from our brother in blue. back the blue
One of the greatest benefits of being on a collateral duty SWAT team was that we were interspersed with patrol. We could take the time, when available, to train up our fellow officers on various tactics. The average patrol guy may or may not have the stones to act in extremis, but those who want to know "advanced" tactics and took the time to learn. Great review, Gentlemen.
This officer is now a highly-decorated veteran of law enforcement. Best Hostage-Rescue since last year in the manger's office of the gas station/convenience store.
Officer Howes joined the sheriff’s office in February and has no prior use-of-force incidents. They wanted Paul, the suspect, to exit the house to Baker Act him.
He didn't detain the guy because he was by himself. Attempting to detain a belligerent, agitated person who is standing in a small, elevated space in front his open residence door by yourself is incredibly dangerous and not smart. By the time his backup arrived, the suspect had already barricaded himself inside the residence. The only thing that he could've done would've been to wait for his backup until making contact. Other than that, he was awesome on this call.
Did you see the video of the two officers who brutally attacked a 70 yr old man with a prosthetic leg? The prosthetic leg flew off in the attack. They attacked him not for any crime he committed but because he didn't want to give them his ID, which legally he didn't have to. Is that what you mean by waiting for backup & bringing two to a fight?
@@chriscald9426every incident is quite individual. A flying leg should change the mind set, but in that second the suspect may not be able to undue his creation. His decisions have consequences.

I’m literally going into my deputy position like as we speak but won’t other deputies and my higher-up ranking deputes think I’m a puss if I always ask for backup on calls that seem a little sketch
I think a buddy system is always better. Wild things happen and too many incidents that don't end well, and is heartbreaking. Never should you ever feel that way. Bring back up. ❤ Much respect to you
I think personally he wouldn’t have been able to handcuff him without back up. He wasn’t clam enough. But I agree it would have been nice if he could have. This brings me back to the same question I’ve been saying for quite a while. Start having two officers in patrol. What is your opinion on that?
Right through plate glass. Holy crap!! Less than a year and already off FTO- was this his first job? The only way I could see that being feasible is if he transferred into the department from elsewhere or if they have a very short phase for FTO. Either way, any type of domestic or neighbor dispute call should have a minimum of two deputies. These calls go south so fast and two hands are just not enough especially when this guy likely had a lengthy history. Also FL has a lot more leeway to Baker Act than most other states. When I was working we needed a judges order or other legal intervention in order for us to be able to Baker Act someone in our state. It’s a double edged sword in both cases. FL has the opportunity to get people immediate help and evaluation when a lot of us only had the option for jail if a crime had been committed. A huge gap where a lot of people fell through and had nearly zero resources to get help for themselves or their family. When people don’t have access to those resources, this exact scenario from this video is sadly too often the outcome.
I think the deputy being in his first year was untainted and executed smoothly and purposefully without hesitation. It appears that The deputy was solo the suspect had the knife on the front porch and in that situation I don't think anybody would try to detain somebody like that until back of arrived just observe and maintain maybe distract. He had something flashy in his hand on the front porch

In training, newbies need to understand that domestic violence calls are the MOST dangerous. At a minimum, a two-man team is definitely required.
Are those flash bang shot glasses on the table?! If so- COOL!😂

I agree training is crucial so I think it would help to get the hostage cleared but take the time to make the right decision so yes it would help.

Yes.

They’re not from Florida and that’s only a thing in Florida.

Huh? Didnt mention any products.
You'll be alright
The fact that you didn’t show the shot, make sure your podcast not worth watching
UA-cam will censor the video.
@@shotsfiredpodcast50 plenty of other channels have shown the footage. The PD blurs the shot
why they bring a woman ?
