Man I had no idea Burlington has a club! That’s like 15 min from my house! I’m excited! Have you ever tried Panther Hobbies in Etobicoke?
If you want a terminus station it could still masquerade as a pull through. Because GO trains work in a push- pull consist then if they disappear into the station they could wait there unseen. You pretend like they’re going east and they wait in the station until they’re ready to go west

I'm also thinking of doing a reset on my layout, over the winter. Looking forward to seeing how you get along. Always good to see your progress.

Like myself, I think you need to knock out a wall and dig another 4 to 6000 sq feet of space for the next layout.😁

I would like to start off with a disclaimer. I do not model N, nor modern image and certainly not Canadian. However since watching your video on your decision to hit the reset button, I have been transfixed by this project and cannot wait to see where this goes. Perfect time to jump on the band wagon, no less! I shall be watching with great interest, wishing you the best of luck with the next iteration.
    Cheers, from England.

I was wondering if you saw the Rapido announcement. I know that my wife was excited to see they were doing the Seattle Sounder cars. She rode those a lot when she lived in Seattle. Let's hope we all win a small fortune somehow and can afford to pick them all up for our layouts! Love seeing your redesign ideas. Thanks for sharing!

I'm also excited for the new release. As I mentioned in the video, I've already started selling more equipment to help offsite the cost of the new roster.

I have enjoyed the planning process and because I've been able to make a couple of videos, it feels like the hobby is still progressing. I think a reasonable goal is to have trains running by Christmas.

Hi there! I was wondering if you ever checked the Halifax Stub end station? I know it's the opposite side of Canada and it's technically not the same VIA trains running to it as the one to Vancouver, but I think it could be fun to model a station from each end of Canada!

Hi there. Your point about backing trains into a station got me thinking to how we in the UK will have a power car or Driving Van Trailor at either end of our train (Google: UK HST trains or say UK Class 390, Class 800, Class 350) even though it might not be proto typical for US/Canadian trains but the rule that can be used is "My layout, my rules".

  • @MassBayBricks

I can’t wait to see where this project goes! Things are looking great! If you’re doing a dystopia theme, it would probably be important to think about what kind of dystopia this is. What caused it to become a dystopia? Who’s running the trains? How many people are left? (If you’ve mentioned this in another video, just forget I said something ! 😂) I’m an N-scaler too and the only dystopia-related things I have is when I made a custom pair of Capitol Coal cars from the hunger games, so I’m very interested to see how you do!

Dear N Scale Dystopia, awesome how you’ve made this video! Love the several angles of the old layout in deconstruction mode. Even though it’s a little sad to see how those turnouts have deteriorated, I humbly think it’s a lesson worth while for all of your viewers. Beautiful how you incorporated your research, whether real life shots, or the images from the club layout, the throat drawings and your edits, into the report. Cool to see and hear your hunt for no. 8 turnouts has paid off. Very curious for the several comments you referred to and how these comments will help to improve the design of your next track plan. Kinda honored you added my previous comment to the mix.
Looking forward to seeing the next plans evolve.
Still am building my own turnouts, but definitely changed the flux. Although I must add that a rigorous cleanup with isopropyl alcohol definitely helps to reduce deterioration for those I built with regular flux. Building track and turnouts in HO scale is of course a little less finicky than to build ‘m in N scale. However, the smoothness of running I’m able to achieve still convinces me to make my own. Next interesting step is to delve into Templot, to truly help design the best configuration of tracks and turnouts, with appropriate rail chairs.
Nevertheless, for tucked away tracks I am considering to use regular off the shelf components. Last but not least, am planning to experiment for some sections to be put on drawer slides to improve access. Cheerio

Starting over can be a harrowing experience when its forced upon you like this. But, given the amount of issues you were having I daresay it was kinda fun to rip it all apart and take out your frustrations on it all XD I know I have felt the same over the years when layouts dont go the way I want them to. One of my layout projects is totally unrecognizable now compared to what it used to be, TOTALLY different layout that gives me alot more enjoyment.
We all learn from our mistakes, thats part of life. Good to see you admitting your errors and working towards correcting them.
And big up Peco track, the best track that money can buy. And its one of the very rare things that is still English made!! WOOOO

One option, if you haven’t considered it could be Aldershot. If memory serves track 4 is stub end, they back in, then change directions back to union. If still planning it you can still have the CNE in between and still model a dystopian lakeshore west line

I'm very glad you've been busy working on acquiring new materials for the rebuild! Also, I am very flattered to see the comment I left at 3:40 That was very nice to see and I'm thankful that I and so many others helped you brainstorm ideas for your trackwork! May we continue to help you along the way!
As for you saying you don't have a concrete track plan mapped out, I'm reminded of George Sellios' legendary HO Scale layout: *the Franklin & South Manchester.* I first heard about this layout in a segment on Model Railroader's "Dream, Plan, Build" video series. There was a segment about George's layout in it and he stated that *absolutely no planning went into his layout.* He'd maybe make a rough sketch of the area he wanted to model, but other than that, he went all in just going about building the layout. The end result was his incredible layout that has captured the hearts and minds of many model railroaders.
*Perhaps a similar approach can be utilized when building your new layout!* 😄

    • @NScaleDystopia
      @NScaleDystopia  Місяць тому +1

I appreciate everything you're saying but I will point out that my understanding is that George spent 6 months a year working exclusively on the layout 8 hours a day... I feel like it's easier to not have a plan when you have the time. 😊

@@NScaleDystopia True that, true that. Plus it was his business selling fine scale kits for a living so he pretty much worked doing what he loved. Safe to say he was living the dream haha.
