A friend of mine, she cries at night And she calls me on the phone Sees babies everywhere she goes And she wants one of her own She's waited long enough, she says But still, he can't decide Pretty soon she'll have to choose And it tears her up inside She is scared Scared to run out of time I see my folks, they're getting on And I watch their bodies change I know they see the same in me And it makes us both feel strange No matter how you tell yourself It's what we all go through Those lines are pretty hard to take When they're staring back at you You are scared Scared to run out of time When did the choices get so hard With so much more at stake? Life gets mighty precious When there's less of it to waste Mmm-hmm, mmm Scared to run out of time Just when I thought I'd had enough And all my tears were shed No promise left unbroken There were no painful words unsaid You came along and showed me I could leave it all behind You opened up my heart again And then much to my surprise I found love, darling Love in the nick of time (love in the nick of time) Oh, yeah, I found love (love in the nick of time) Oh, yeah, in the nick of time (love in the nick of time) I found love, baby (love in the nick of time) I found love (love in the nick of time) Oh, in the nick of time (love in the nick of time) I found love, baby Love in the nick of time Ooh, yeah Thought I'd given up on you, but then I found love I found love, baby, ooh Oh, in the nick of time Oh, yeah, I found love Oh, in the nick of time Thought I'd given up
Lake Street Dive was always able to translate a cover with their unique sound, centered around Bridget's upright bass. But, that instrument is missing. Rachael's distinctive voice is there, but the instrumental track is missing all of the uniqueness of Lake Street Dive. It could have recorded by any session musicians.
Anything these people do is fantastic, we all know that. And this is no exception. My only beef would be that it sounds a little too slick maybe. I've seen clips of them doing this live and I liked that better. The magic of this band is that they can do it right in front of you, with spartan instrumentation, no sweeteners needed. This ain't that, but it still sounds great, especially the lead vocal and bass. Looking forward to the release!
I’m a huge fan of Bonnie Raitt and Lake Street Dive. This is awesomeness 💯
Same. At first I thought it was too straight a cover but then it started getting a lot more Lake Street Dive on it.
Then you need to discover Teresa James & The Rhythm Tramps
Very well done. Loved this song back in the 90's and love your cover of it.
A friend of mine, she cries at night
And she calls me on the phone
Sees babies everywhere she goes
And she wants one of her own
She's waited long enough, she says
But still, he can't decide
Pretty soon she'll have to choose
And it tears her up inside
She is scared
Scared to run out of time
I see my folks, they're getting on
And I watch their bodies change
I know they see the same in me
And it makes us both feel strange
No matter how you tell yourself
It's what we all go through
Those lines are pretty hard to take
When they're staring back at you
You are scared
Scared to run out of time
When did the choices get so hard
With so much more at stake?
Life gets mighty precious
When there's less of it to waste
Mmm-hmm, mmm
Scared to run out of time
Just when I thought I'd had enough
And all my tears were shed
No promise left unbroken
There were no painful words unsaid
You came along and showed me
I could leave it all behind
You opened up my heart again
And then much to my surprise
I found love, darling
Love in the nick of time (love in the nick of time)
Oh, yeah, I found love (love in the nick of time)
Oh, yeah, in the nick of time (love in the nick of time)
I found love, baby (love in the nick of time)
I found love (love in the nick of time)
Oh, in the nick of time (love in the nick of time)
I found love, baby
Love in the nick of time
Ooh, yeah
Thought I'd given up on you, but then I found love
I found love, baby, ooh
Oh, in the nick of time
Oh, yeah, I found love
Oh, in the nick of time
Thought I'd given up

Excellent! All the best to you, Rachael and Vilray. Classy music.
This is Lake Street Dive. Vilray not involved in this one.
Tickles my fancy and my brain all at the same time.
Thanks, as usual, for a great performance.
Really lovely cover

Yup. I wondered why this was a bit "off" for them. Thanks for the explanation.
The video of the performance live has a better mix.
I love this band!
How bout a gig in Memphis, Tennessee?
Had a hard day today, thank you
Love love!
Awesome cover!
Yay, made my day, sending to all my friends!!
Love this band, love Bonnie Raitt, love this cover!💙
Can anyone tell me is Bridget playing her Hofner bass in this recording or is that her stand up. Crazy tones
Chadwick folding bass tuned down entirely by a whole step, in this case!
@@BridgetKearney10 Sounds great! Really nice playing, Bridget
Faaaantastic!!!

👍Yes 👍
💙💜💛🧡
What kind of guitar is this? Is it a specific patch? I've heard it before in some vulfpeck can anyone help?
Sounds like a Stratocaster with decent compression and a chorus pedal.

Not enough people know Bonnie Raitt
?????? The 1960s and 1970s by far had the best music ever. None of that electronic shit.
Near perfect! Needs more cowbell. Or trumpet.
Trumpet for sure! Call me, Rachel!
