Today on June 1st, Etrian Odyssey HD Collection was released worldwide on Switch and Steam. Adventurers gather once again as they delve in labyrinths all over the world. Etria, Lagaard, Armoroad... Many more await... After all, it was not the end of the raging waves.
Then you simply have to play one. :D I can recommend Etria Odyssey 1 Untold as a starting point. It's not as clunky as the starting point of the series and one might add the plottwist is not even a tenth as strong as in the original due to additional story, but it has some QoL changes i quite liked. And it's still a very darn difficult game. Etrian 1+2 often felt unfair to me (but played both of them through, just never did the 100% becvause i have a life :D) but there's definitely a good rush of dopamine to be had when finally taking down a boss. Etrian 2 untold is pretty good, but most bosses sadly feel like pure damage sponges. Etrian 3 is a very good game as well and does have replayability due to split path story. Etrian 4 is a bit different than the first 3 games and admittedly, i didn't quite enjoy it as much. But i can say that it made status efgfects alot more viable/usefull/necessary than the other games of the series. Etrian 5 was for one part ALOT easier than the other installments but there's just one storyboss that is easily one of the hardest storybosses. Has soem really cool classes as well. Etrian Nexus is kinda a bit a Mash-up from all before and some new. I still have to complete it at some point.
@@Aurirang i was considering getting the HD versions on the switch when they came out. timing's a little rough since there're a couple other games i wanna get around that time, but it'll probably work out in the end. i just hope i can stay interested; riding off the coattails of banger songs hehe
@@3slimy5me I think the HD versions might be the way to go! These are definitely the kind of games you can take your time with, so there's certainly no rush if you want to get to other games first. I can certainly attest to how fun they are though! I've been a fan of the series for a few years now and I still enjoy them all so much.

Aether Eru is a doujin music circle (I think?) who mostly do EO and Touhou arranges from what I've seen, really love their cool synth/rock/chiptune twists on the usual sound of these themes! I think this is an entire continuous mix of an album of theirs, if I'm not mistaken, that was basically one 42-minute track, but they added some nice formatting and footage to make a video upload :)

I don't usually find myself listening to many fan remixes but just wow. You did an amazing job with this arrangement of all these themes and the transitions in them are incredible! I'm so glad to to be a EO fan to enjoy this even more!

nnickerson100 In fact, I found the Hollow Queen to be more of a dodgy health bubble. The third boss was much worse. Maybe I just built my party too defensively at that time.
Listening to this masterpiece made me pick up Untold again and start a Classic playthrough, even though I hate the RNG for grimoire stones and feel like I'll never be able to make truly optimal builds. Great work, Aether.

This is an impressive medley, although a little too metal for my taste. I especially like the transitions between tracks, and the visual presentation is a really nice accompaniment. I'd love to see exploration and town music receive similar treatment.
+xKuragu Yes, EOIV is fully orchestral, but this arrangement of storm is still not "retro". Which by that I mean it is not chiptune or made on a synthesizer like the in-game music for EO,EOII,or EOIII. It's different and definitely uses less instruments, and I guess it sounds a bit more retro, but it's still not "retro." It still uses instruments (although I'm pretty sure they're just simulated instruments and not live-recorded like in EOIV).

The rythmn guitar on 15:45 is the most badass arrangement ever made on any EO soundtrack ever. So juicy.
The transition between the first two themes is so good I always get confused when I'm playing the game and Initial Strike just loops.
