I like to think of you-know-who as the de facto final boss of the game, for a few reasons: the "smash the crystals" route seem more real, logical and natural (especially for a first playthrough); she is a much better villain than lord snakey; her character interacts with both the party's and the player's emotions and motivations. Snakey feels more like a "bonus" or "secret" final boss for players who, after beating the game once, think "what if I don't break the crystals?"
@@EmpereurTom While I think a rewrite that had her as the final boss is possible - it would lose that gut wrenching scene when airy is devoured by ourouborus, which is one of the best scenes in the game in my opinion. Maybe instead ourouborus could have been the real airy that was hidden away inside of her without her own conscious knowledge and he could have came out of airy in some equally hideous way, like a play on the whole butterfly metamorphosis thing... + a rewrite of the true ending that makes it more explicit that the 4 heroes are purposefully awakening the crystals in order to defeat airy for good + a way to shorten/fast forward/skip chapters 5-8 and then Bravely default would be perfect!

ノーマルからしてもうカッコいい
アスタリスクバトルの度にBGMで身悶えてた思い出
I like to think of you-know-who as the de facto final boss of the game, for a few reasons: the "smash the crystals" route seem more real, logical and natural (especially for a first playthrough); she is a much better villain than lord snakey; her character interacts with both the party's and the player's emotions and motivations. Snakey feels more like a "bonus" or "secret" final boss for players who, after beating the game once, think "what if I don't break the crystals?"
Ouroboros should have been the liar’s final form, and not it’s own character.
