i'm not ashamed to say that hollow knight revived my love for piano. i spent 4 years not playing and listening to resting grounds made me want to try it again
Such a masterful game. I still remember buying it and playing for the first 10 minutes... the controls, the music, the aesthetic, it all felt too good to be true... until I started getting my ass handed to me by the enemies and environments. I completed the game eventually but more importantly, I walked away a changed man. This game taught me of the power of perseverance and to look at failure as an opportunity to learn and grow. Hollow Knight is so much more than a "game" it is an experience.
I remember I was spoiled since I dug into the content too early, even then the game was enjoyable and the lore was amazing. Every single second was like making a new discovery and pondering what happened and the music was outstanding. I never thought a 15$ game could be so good till now. Indie games are like that. This is where the real innovation is gaming is happening. Only exception is Nintendo. other publisher just remake the same thing again and again.

I got emotional when "Reflection" came up. It triggers a nostalgia in me that is partly memories of playing HK from 2017 but also a vague sense of childhood... so peaceful
And it hits even harder because it plays when resting at a bench, the times that you're in between adventures. It literally gives you the space to breath and reflect on what you found and where to go next. But more so the benches provide a sort of sense of peace in the dangerous world. They remind me of bonfires from Dark Souls 1 in that way. And it's a nice reminder that in real life, it's nice and healthy to just sit back and relax. Give yourself time to breath and reflect on what's been happening. The OST for this game really holds a special place in my heart. Can't wait for Silksong's OST to immediately find it's way into my daily listens as well.
This is the video that convinced me to get Hollow Knight. When I first caught wind of this game, my childish brain thought it was a poorly conceived copy of Shovel Knight. Boy, I couldn't have been more wrong. Hollow Knight is a gaming masterpiece. Its beautiful, solemn music, stunningly moody graphics, and mysteriously dark world have earned it a special place in my heart. I have three save files, one of which is 112%, numerous fanart doodles in my sketchbooks, and even a few original characters. By far, Hollow Knight is my absolute favorite indie game, and I doubt I will ever experience anything like it again. I would like to express my gratitude to you, Ezonater, and the people in this comment section, for bringing this game to my attention and allowing me to begin my journey through Hallownest. Goodnight!
So refreshing having the music and beautiful atmosphere without the stress of dying constantly, thank you! The creators captured such a beautiful melancholy in this game, I love it.
This is a great playlist! I recently finished hollow knight for the first time, now just exploring and doing the extras, and the soundtrack really has me hooked. I especially like the shot you chose of Quirrel in the city of tears, I think it captures the vibes of that area perfectly!
I'm trying to get all the trophies from this game just because I think it's beautiful. The music, the game design, the sadness and the loneliness aura it carries. Even on hard moments (and it's a lot) I find peace. Like "well just relax, it's not over, you can try again". Even on that flower quest I did it in a lot of peace. This game is amazing.
It’s a beautifully haunting game with the uniqueness of each region and the soundtrack. Another scene that was moving was the butterfly valley- I said to my son that I could watch that for a long time bc it was so serene.
