I have a 2015 LTZ. My under seat vents were almost completely distorted shut. I made a "U" shaped metal piece to place inside the vent tube to hold it open. Also they were almost all the way under the carpet as well. I also took a 4" flat piece of metal and slid it under the vent. Leaving about an inch out to hold the carpet down. The rear passengers aren't complaining now.
But if your truck has 18" rims and tires on it , the SPARE is a 17" wheel and tire. Figure that one out ??? Ya , I know it's just "supposed" to be used as a spare but you'd think it would match what's on the truck. Unless I find an actual matching factory 18" aluminum rim and tire , I'll have to settle for the one it came with.
Finally got my first pickup truck less than two weeks ago! A 2017 LTZ Z71 Silverado. It has everything, even a sunroof! But a couple of passengers were complaining the other day that they were a little warm in the rear cab, being in Florida and all. I wasn't able to find any hint of rear ventilation in the owners manual, so I was about to call the dealership when I came across this video. Yep, I found the little vents under my front seats, just like you said. Great info!
I had a 2004 Chevy Silverado SS that I bought brand new. It was my dream truck and I regret getting rid of it. The reason I bring that up is because that had the rear vents. I was so disappointed when I realized that my 2014 Silverado didn’t have them. That being said, I never noticed the vents under the seat so thank you very much for this video. My five-year-old will be grateful as it gets pretty hot here in Florida.
Those are there for the heater. If you ever notice when you use the auto feature in a car the heat comes out of the floor vents, and the ac comes out of the upper vents. Those are not rear ac vents. But you can use them the way you described if you want to.
Hi got a 2015 high country they didn't change much looks the same as my interior . What's your fuel economy like I m in Canada so we I first got the truck it was 17 or 18 and the spec sheet said 14 liters per 100 kilometers Changed to a k&n air filter new plugs and wires battery sensor cleaned the intake with some seafoam in the fuel and now I'm ranging anywhere from 13.8 to 15.2 👍
Been a GM guy for years, but GM has been behind for years when it comes to interiors and options. I say no, you didn’t get your moneys worth. I hope the 19s are better than the current generation. It seems like they are just playing catch up though. The vent situation is the same on the 2007.5-2013 trucks.
Yeah i was gonna say, most cars and vehicles will have vents under the rear seats, its much nicer if they put the vents on the rear console as they should in a 4 door truck.
I knew they was there but wish they kept the same as older trucks and vents on console. My 03 sierra slt crew dmax was great. 2015 sierra crew denali not as much. Yes air but at feet not up by body and non adjustable. Just think with all the advancement we have done to vehicle's that could totally be one. Especially in a crew cab. I've got rear blu ray entertainment center that nobody uses. Rather have good ac in back for them to use.
The reason why the truck doesn’t blow cold air out of the lower vents is because heat rises. You blow cold air out the upper vents to cool the hot air in the cabin. These trucks get ice cold inside if you let it. I keep mine set at 68 degrees in our 105 degree summer days and it gets there quick.
Yup on my 2014 LT Z71nice and cold upfront and my passengers in the back (my kids lol) always complain saying turn up the air cuase it's hot in the back but after a few minutes it cools down but never knew about the air vents on the floor thanks for the heads up
I think most vehicles have under-seat rear vents, as my 21-year-old Accord has them. My grandfather's 01 Silverado has actual console-mounted rear air vents though, so I guess Chevy decided to downgrade.
The reason those rear under the seat Vince only work when you have the settings on feet is because they are for your feet if you’re sitting in the back
I live on ranch, 2016, 4 dr, and a mouse got in mine, near the filter. he died and smelled real bad. but we got him out. thanks. i always wondered why they were too cheap to put vents in back. now i know how to get more air to passengers in back!
I recently discovered my 03 2500HD extended cab has this vents under the seats. Happen to found them by stupid chance when I was looking for something on the floor. Never knew there was vents under there for 16 years of owning that truck.
I was a little bummed about the vents when I bought my truck new. That was about my only complaint about the Chevy when I was comparing different trucks. I can honestly tell you that my family and I have never missed them. My kids actual complain about it being cold before I get cooled off good. Just run it in Auto at whatever your desired temperature is and let it do its thing.
They are called floor vents.... my f150 has them along with vents in the console. Cool part about the f150 is the steering wheel isn’t 3 inches off center.
Just bought a 2018 gmc sierra slt but im a old school guy i miss my z71 2002 avalanche that thing never left me stranded i messed up on selling it but 02 avy had air vents in the back but my gmc doesn't that makes no sense
Yes those are heater vents, my 99 Tahoe has them. You can try to pump cold air through them but in az when it’s 110 degrees the floor the plastic duck work lays on is so hot the air is 80 by the time it gets back there. Out here it’s recirc on high blowing in your face all summer while every piece of metal tries to brand you
I can not tell if you are being serious or not, first off every car has those vents, second the heat coming out of the back boards, is when you have the seats on cool, it will push out heat through the exhaust vents, put your seats on heat and cool air will come out.
I agree with the option disappointment on the rear heating and air conditioning that sucks, and driving Chevys for 40 years what did the GMC dealer and bought a GMC and obviously they don't have them either so thanks for the video, yes Chevys way behind but that's all I've been driving
I was def let down when I bought my Denali after driving my 06 Sierra 1500 SLT for years and discovered they had done away with the middle console vents for the back seat.
Hey man I have a 2014 LTZ at 65k currently and have had zero issues With the AC thank God. Bought it from the dealership about a month ago. Question is do all 2014 have AC issues or are they more isolated issues? Thanks.
I have a 2014 Country and it was perfect until 95,000 it finally killed the condenser….but all things considered was an easy fix in the driveway and only took a couple hours and $200 plus a trip for a recharge.
cant figure out why gm did not put real vents back there. the get so close and they get to the end and just "ehh just do whatever." im sure the 2015-2020 f150 had it. 2020 for sure has it.
Well my feet will never get hot in my back seat. Because I never sit in the back of my truck. But the wife will be thrilled know the grandsons will cool feet going foward!
Hey i bought some leather seats from another gm truck for my Silverado and my driver side seat don’t work because of the seat reminder I don’t have the oem seat reminder but I wanna know if you know anything about it
Bless your heart 😌 Back in the day trucks came standard with ball chillers. But, Chevrolet long forsaw the feminization of the American male. So, they took the ball chillers out, and put feet warmers in so when you are riding around stressing about not having rear air. You dry the paint on your toe nails and drive so that you aren't late to your Luke Brayn concert. 😂
What a joke. The one under the seat isn't doing shit it's for feet. I have kids that ride in the back seat and not having AC vents in the back was one of a few reasons I didn't get a GM truck this time around. To me it was a huge oversight as the center vents are not really anything new to the industry.
Jay P same here man. I like Chevy but I have 2 boys and these don’t have rear vents. Even a 2009 Ford F-150 has rear vents. So what truck did you decided to go with.?
Haha, thanks. I was traveling, and I was wondering why I was cold in the back this winter when the heat was on for feet. Now I know where the vents are. I can actually put a proper vent setup so it does get blocked by the carpet. Thanks
Ryan Austin Well...the sales people are ignorant as well. I was shopping for a truck and looked at this model. When I saw no rear vents I said to the sales guy that was a show stopper for me. I have passengers in the back often. The sales guy made zero mention of these under the seat vents. Instead he said the front vents should be strong enough to cover the rear seat as well.
Funny you said that .. I pulled the cabin filter out of my 2017 and found a nice mouse nest in it... lol .. I was like WTF .. but it's New England so they do get cold..
@@privateinfo4820 i built a screen to keep them out. They kept ruining my cabin filter and making my truck stink. While i was at it i added some weatherstripping and made the recurculation vent door close properly. It’s in a tight spot.
The fact GM had air vents in their center consoles in the 2000s but not in these trucks drives me nuts!
No kidding. They finally added them back in 2019 but it took 12 years.
yes agreed
I have a 2015 LTZ. My under seat vents were almost completely distorted shut. I made a "U" shaped metal piece to place inside the vent tube to hold it open. The rear passengers aren't complaining now.
There is a hidden tire under the bed too
Haha you’re catching on to my style man!
But if your truck has 18" rims and tires on it , the SPARE is a 17" wheel and tire.

The tire on that spare rim is taller than the tires in the bigger trims
Rims
@@2009mechanic on ltz models it's a matching aluminum spare

When you put the hvac on floor you loose your recirculation. In the summer for max ac you run with recirculation on, gets alot cooler that way.

Robert Rickords the 19 Silverado does have ac vents in the rear
I’m very excited for the 2019 as well
I have new 2018 , I'M NOT IMPRESSED ! VACUUM ISSUES AND SEAT UPHOLSTERY LOOKS LIKE IT WAS SEWN IN THE DARK WITH ONE HAND ! LAST ONE !
Hello Robert!!!
They're trucks are also cheaper though. So it kinda balances out
Yeah i was gonna say, most cars and vehicles will have vents under the rear seats, its much nicer if they put the vents on the rear console as they should in a 4 door truck.
Plumbus my 17 Ford f150 ext. cab has vents on the back side of the console
Thanks for the info. I have a 17 Silverado didn't know about this my grandkids will appreciate it thanks again pop pop.
Every vehicle with a rear seat has those.....so you still aren't getting your money's worth lmao
That Limited Tundra right lol my 06 cobalt has that
my 2006 sierra has those

Do you know what the upgrade is for the center console that has the air vents for 2014 GMC sierra ?
The reason those rear under the seat Vince only work when you have the settings on feet is because they are for your feet if you’re sitting in the back
Also looking for more information on the auto temp mode

You could mote than likely easily reroute those to some diy vents un yhe back of the console with some tubing

Where the hell have you been, all ex cab trucks have that
Hell, even our old 2007 honda cr-v piece of junk had these as rear vents. These are trucks, not passenger vehicles.
I believe when you have it on auto heat blows out of the bottom vents since heat rises and cold air blows out of the top vents since cold air sinks.
Hey that makes perfect sense! Thanks for the info! Sometimes the answer is easier than one may think, haha!
Yes those are heater vents, my 99 Tahoe has them. Another hidden feature: long press the on off button for the radio, a whole different display pops up.
Nice, didn’t know that one!

Thank you bro! I never knew that
my 06 SLE ECSB Sierra had rear vents on the console. IDK why they omitted them on the 14-18 trucks :(
To save cash, I think they had them in the Tahoe
A lot of older Volvo's have that rear floor vent feature.
I'm amazed that people are driving around in a 6,000 lb truck and don't know about this. My '01 had these vents.
Those hidden vents are something else. Why would you hide vents? Lol
GM has done that for a long time. I think my '72 Impala even had the floor vent hidden under the front bench.
Mine whistles from the front vents if the passenger side two are closed. My 2016 isn't as good as my 2006. 06 is a LS and the 16 is a LTZ
Isn’t that crazy?
Six years later, and I finally see this video about vents for the back of my ‘15 LTZ. 🤦♂️
Does the High Country ride any smoother than the other Chevy 4x4's?
If I’m being honest, no. They use the same shocks in fact
What are those vents in the back of the seats
You would think they have them in center console like my old Yukon

There's a hidden engine too. Look in the trunk that's in front of the windshield.
LMAO
Thanks for sharing the tip!
For the money spent gm that's not good enough. Who knows what GM was thinking taking a step back and not installing rear vents.
That is one sharp truck
Thanks buddy!
Thank you, love your vid’s.
Idk about rear vents... As long as people fit back there they will be happy.
Cold air sinks hot air rises so winter goes to the feet summer up top
Makes sense when you think about it, thanks buddy!

Only been in crew cab trucks for 10+ years
But my 14 Denali has vents on the back of the seats
Same on my 2004 Silverado extended cab.
Do you know if a 2017 o 2018 has rear vents?.
I believe so
They don't! I have a 18 crewcab ltz
chevygameonpoint 18 reallyv how does it feel back there?. I have 2 kids and ford has rear vents. But i want a silverado
Well yea, just like a 4 door car most trucks have a floor vent. Not a face vent....

Us: DUH!!!
Thanks for the vid. First thing I noticed AFTER I bought my ltz! Gm lacking in this dept.
Shit. Growing up my family had a base model trailblazer ls with rear console vents. My 2015 silverado lt lacks them
