Mr. Grossman has a sportin right hand.
I have several of your country blues DVDs lessons & have learned more in the past 3 years than than the previous 40 years- thanks for inspiring me with this genre and your expertise! Your website with all the great guitarists is awesome!
Nice one Stef. A refreshing change to have a lesson with substance.
still some great things out there for free. This makes my week and it's only Tuesday.
Thanks Stefan,
Mark
Excellent lesson thank you so much!
Geez what a marvelous teacher!
Very nice blues. The tutorial is very clear. I learned this song. Thank you
I'm glad to find this to work on. I seem to recall reading that Blind Blake did this song in a non standard tuning so I didn't bother trying to work it out. This offers a whole new possibility for me.
You were one of my go to guitarists in the beginning of you tube. Nice to go back in time.
Hey, you'r the best teacher!! Thanks so much. Love that Blind Blake.
Lovely stuff! Thank you, Stefan!
Beautiful folk song. The tutorial is very clear. I will try to learn it.
absolutely brilliant lesson. and great advice.
stefan’s tutor blues books are a goldmine...just get them and enjoy...
One of THE easiest to follow teachers I have ever seen on a vid. Amazing tools from a marvellous teacher!
Great job!
Wonderful!!!!
Thank you, Sir, for this lesson: I wish I had Internet 35 years ago!
Update: By the way, I also bought this lesson, taught by you in 'Ragtime Blues Guitar'-
I'll soon refresh this piece I've almost forgotten... :-)
I once got kicked out of church, for talkin' bout Diddie Wah Diddie too much .
The Beefheart version was actually a cover of Bo Diddley's song, "Diddy Wah Diddy" Not Blind Blake's "Diddie Wah Diddie."
Recorded while Ry Cooder was Don's guitarist...
nice job friend.good ol blind blake
great thanks
You can send mail to Stefan Grossman's Guitar Workshop, PO Box 802, Sparta, NJ 07871
Ive never seen Grossman use a thumbpick, sounds great to me regardless!
Man oh! man I cannot get my thumb to work like you and others do, I just have to modify the way I play, as my thumb bends in the opposite direction and is short.
awesome, thanks me
Dear Stefan! You have really chered me up! I´ve been in bed most of this summer feeling sick but not any more thanks to you. Do you have any mailadress? I have a bunch of 78-rpm-records i´d like to mail you. All the very best! Anders
勉強になります💕
I am doing a Gary Davis riff that he showed me.
A run Rev. Davis thought him, how many can say that these days
for a sec I thought that would be a guitar arrangement for Khaled's Didi... would have been fun.
from what I read on Blind Blake
"Diddie wa diddie is either the act of making love, or the male or female sexual organs."
no matter what it means it is a fun sounding tune
Paul
Please try to make it look more difficult, my wife thinks after 50 years since she bought me a replacement guitar, replacement for my beloved hofner, I should be this good.
if only the tab numbers were in the lines and not the spaces, otherwise thanks man👌
He can have that thumb on the G
I prefer the Beefheart version myself. This song needs some heavy bass...
it's a shame the audio and video are out of sync.
"Its the easiest chord in the buiizzneeez" haha :D
needs a bit more cowbell
why were all the old blues men blind? too much moonshine?
Maybe being inflicted with blindness is what led them to create blues music.
420protoman Probably wasn't much support for the blind back then, so they learned to play an instrument to earn some money or keep themselves occupied in general.

I heard that the big amount of malnourishment in the poor black communitu back in the day led to blindness
When I was 6, I drew a stick figure and thought it looked like my dad; this version of Blind Blake is something similar...it's John Hurt's Diddie Wa Diddie, not Blake's.
This is blind blake style guitar Diddy wa Diddy, not John Hurts. John hurts style is much simpler and easier to play and uses a more basic alternating bass line whereas Blind blake played with more ragtime and syncopated notes as well as his double thumb strokes as shown in this demonstration.
incredibly frustrating that this is out of sync ... ffs
