- We have a look at an old acoustic blues standard, or at least a particular arrangement I learned many years ago which is accessible for any intermediate guitarist wanting to start out playing this sort of acoustic blues. At end of vid I record a bit of a loop which you can play along with for practice.

My mission: to record one complete song for each of the 12 musical genres contained within the Digitech Trio + Band Creator + Looper.
Title: Diddy Wa Diddy
Composer(s): Blind Blake (traditional)
Key: C
Approx. BPM: Approx. 118
Genre setting: Blues (9)
Thanks for the lesson. Love this tune 😊
Thanks for watching and the feedback. Cheers, Joey
For anyone interested, by coincidence, I watched a Mary Spender clip the other day where she demonstrates 3 levels of difficulty in playing Ain't No More Sunshine, and in the more difficult level, she does the E - G - A bass run using her thumb. I left a comment mentioning that it had never occurred to me doing such a bass run using your thumb, despite having long used my thumb for the low F in playing acoustic blues, like I do in this clip. I followed what she was doing, and was pleasantly surprised to discover what a long reach your thumb has when you do this run! Once again, the benefit is that you have all four fingers available to use for whatever purpose (of course, finishing with an open A would achieve the same benefit, and indeed, allow you to move anywhere on the fretboard).

As I mention in the vid, here is a link to a more advanced guitar lesson of Diddy Wa Diddy which is truer to the Blind Blake version:
