Just now realizing, everybody's questioning who Wooly is. People have been pointing out that his name isn't listed in the credits under voice actors. But, if you pay attention, the TV goes into static immediately after it says that Amanda is voiced by Rebecca. In normal credits, voice actors are always grouped together in the ending credits. It could be that Amanada is trying to keep Wooly a secret.

I love the little detail that Amanda only explicitly asks if you’ll help the kitten (her) once woolly is out of the picture, implying that this is only something she can do once he’s not there

The kitten represents Rebecca AKA Amanda. Lonely, sad, wants to be freed. Mr Fox represents Sam, Rebecca’s father. Hence how she says he “didn’t even know what got him until it was too late” eluding that he got tricked by Hameln into agreeing to the cartoon remake without knowing their underlying agenda and possibly the reason for his disappearance.
Excellent point- there’s also the rat in the trap used for the pie, you could even argue for the fish trapped in the bucket, there’s a recurring theme of trapped animals in general. Amanda makes it very clear how she and her father were trapped by HaMelN- I think that’s also why Wooly is a sheep (“wolf in sheep’s clothing”) and why Amanda’s demonic form literally has “wool over her eyes”. You could even argue for her Afro puffs looking like mouse ears, with the Pied Piper connection.
I love how MatPat discovers the demons in the game, goes back to the Celtic Crown page, and then proceeds to forget that the criminal gang in that article was named "The Demons."
The fact that you can interact with Blabbots head after it pops off makes me think that you may be able to connect it to the doll after cutting off its head.
Actually Wooly has been proven to be evil in a theory before! The game outeight tells us that. Check a video by "OmniPie". We really can't debunk his theory, we've been trying for a while though lol! I bet my money, Mat's next theory will be about that exact plot twist.
Just a note when Amanda says “the man in the headphones” I think she was being fed her “lines” through a headphone set. They paused it to talk and she heard a man’s voice, presumably one of the demons, tell her to do something. She thinks the voice is “in” the headphones.
I think she was reading a paper script and then the demons possess her mind and makes her hear stuff she doesn’t want to do. She thinks it from the headphones but it’s coming from her own head

Wooly really went to being the victim in the original game to giving off HEAVY vibes that he's more of Amanda's *Handler* either keeping her distracted or on script with the show when she goes off and remembers something from her real life. If thats the case HamelN dosen't pay him enough
Right? I don't trust him. He's guiding Amanda through things and he turned the neighborhood tape into a birthday tape when Amanda started to forget things. Not to mention that when Amanda turns into a monster it seems like she has wool covering her eyes, like she's being deceived by Wooly
Do you mean the producer guy with the nervous stutter when talking to Amanda and her dad in the purple tape??? That really checks out!! Wooly reacts when you type in "Sam" during the barn scene and that would be interesting narratively. The producer guy and Wooly both have the job of trying to calm Amanda/Sam down by "taking 5", or cheering Amanda up somehow, and they both have a nervous energy about them. Maybe he was a guy who was roped into the whole deal and was in charge of Amanda. I don't think he wanted to do what he did but never had the spine to stand up to Hamlin, similar to how he never had the spine to stand up to Amanda.
I doubt he’s a handler at all considering Amanda doesn’t listen to him, degrades him, hurts him, dude is still a victim. If he was a handler he’d have some sense of control, but he has none
I love how amid all the mystery of the tapes and Amanda and Wolly, the fact that there are apparently also sentient toys is just totally glossed over. Blabbot displays awareness of his surroundings and a sense of self preservation. Dolly can apparently feel pain and can see things like the type of flowers being presented to her. Between FnaF and Poppy, and the like, sentient toys is now just a normal thing in horror games
Considering how this entire place, if we take it at face value and everything is happening as is, is _really weird_ and almost runs like an actual dream, I assume that it’s due to the presence of Amanda or the haunted Hameln stuff, as both have varying amounts of control over the attic overall.
I believe it was mentioned at the start of the game, how aunt kate was working with the occult. I think her antic was her "office" where she just kept all the spookies
Sam created the show, Rebecca is sam's adopted daughter who also voices Amanda, Kate was a librarian who helped spread the word about sam's show and also seems to be who is videotaping the "recording booth" tape, and Riley is Kate's niece/ the player watching the tapes

I have a theory that the person who is talking in the Rileys fav movies and Summer 1984 tape is wooly. He’s trying to get us to confront Amanda which is why at the beginning of Riley Fav Movies it shows the first ever tape and wooly introduceing himself. It also cuts from Wooly in the original game saying “we don’t have much time.” That’s wooly trying to convey the importance of the situation. The reason why he’s using Riley’s tapes to communicate is probably to avoid being notices by Amanda. He might have some power over the original tapes because he is able to change the plot of the 2nd neighborhood tape by saying that it’s his birthday.
Another common theory is that wooly is a demon. If you look at the monster you see wool covering the monsters eyes. So a theory is that wooly is "pulling the wool over Amanda's eyes."
Does anyone else think Sadie was the one filming that last secret tape? In the coffee break interview they emphasize that her and Sam were studio neighbors 🤷♀️
Interesting tidbits about the three demons named in the Purple tape: Bael, as Ash said in the video, is associated with cats (there's the cat we're supposed to help; Balam is said to have three heads, one of which is a ram (possible Wooly association?); and Paimon is described as wearing a large, regal crown (like the one that was stolen?). I thought these connections were interesting!
I think wooly might be some kind of program designed to keep Amanda under control, because we see him try to placate her, calm her down, or direct her, but she's more powerful then him now.
Perhaps he was Rebecca's handler in the real world? The one in charge of Amanda, the one that keeps her on script, and the one who keeps her happy and calm. Perhaps even the nervous producer guy in the purple tape is him. I'm not saying he's a producer or really evil, probably just a worker who never had the spine to stand up to Hamlin, just like how he never had the spine to stand up to Amanda. Might also explain why he's a sheep. "Don't be a sheep" is a way of saying that each individual in a group shouldn't blindly be thinking, or acting, the same way. It means that they can't, or will not, act on their own accord. Being "a sheep" is also just a term that means cowardly or submissive. Wooly never went up against Hamlin when he should've, and now that's reflected in his appearance.
The name Riley fits in the tape where Wooly tells you it's his birthday, and Amanda sadly asks you who to send it to. Kate fits on the "opposite of alive" question. I don't really know if they do anything, but yeah lol
If I’m imagining the wooly in a chair tape correctly, I think it could be showing what happened to wooly after Amanda “doctored” him. The comparing him to a thoughtless, mindless sheep in the farm episode may hint to this.
I think wooly is a man made friend or creature of some sort that isn’t real/easily replaceable. Maybe the sheep at the farm are past woolys who amanda eventually got mad at. They keep rebooting wooly because she kills him or lobotomizes him and they send his past versions to the farm which is why he’s so afraid of going
Here’s how I think it goes, in order: 1. Sam Colton adopted Rebecca, who inspired him to create the original non-messed up Amanda the Adventurer. The show was local and promoted by a friend of his, Kate the librarian. Kate later died after investigating what happened, and WE play as Riley, who Kate was the aunt of. 2. Sam’s show gets picked up by Hameln Entertainment to be made into a real show. Sam is excited, but after a while, it becomes clear that Hameln’s intentions are not as good as they seem. 3. This is where speculative ideas come in. The original concept for ATA was as a live action show, but somewhere along the way, it was envisioned to be a cartoon. It seems the company grew interested in using dark magic to envié Rebecca’s soul into the show. (My personal reason as to why: corporate greed. If Rebecca is stuck in the cartoon, it means they don’t need to get another actress to replace Rebecca as she gets older, and they can keep the show running until it stops making money, because their star is a part of it) 4. Sam gets wind of this and tries to shut it down, and is killed for it by Hameln. Now that Sam is out of the way, there is NO ONE who can protect Rebecca. They go through with the ritual and Rebecca becomes Amanda. 5. However, there is a caveat that Hameln overlooked. Making demonic rituals always comes with a price. Rebecca is not alone, but whatever demon they made a pact with is now attached to the show as well. This is why kids start disappearing; as long as the show is still running, the demon still hungers for more and more souls from children. Because of this, there are two entities within the character of Amanda; Rebecca, who is traumatized and alone within the world of ATA, and the demon that uses Amanda as a vessel to get more souls. 6. Who is Wooly? He’s an original character to the ATA cartoon, but also an AI that is built to keep Amanda/Rebecca in check. Hameln designed him to be a friend to Amanda, but also to stop her from lashing out too much and disrupting the show. Wooly is not bad, but neutral: he wants to help Amanda, but he was created to watch over an aggressive and traumatized little girl by a company that couldn’t care less about either of them. Amanda is a victim of Hameln’s greediness and Wooly is a victim of their lack of foresight. The company did not predict Amanda becoming more powerful. I’ve also heard some theorize that Wooly is Sam, but I disagree for a few reasons: 1. If Wooly is Sam, why is he trying to prevent Amanda from digging deeper into their past? Why wouldn’t the two work together, and why would he be so cooperative with Hameln by trying to keep Amanda in the dark? Out of anyone besides Rebecca, Sam has the least reason to cooperate with Hameln, since they stole his ideas, his tv show, and above all else, HIS DAUGHTER. 2. If Sam is in the game, it makes less sense for Amanda to be upset about being ALONE. She constantly emphasize feeling scared and lonely, which wouldn’t make too much sense if she wasn’t the only soul inhabiting the show. It makes her pain more understandable if you interpret her as the only ACTUAL human trapped in the show. 3. Wooly and Sam don’t really act similar at all. Sam is much more confident and confrontational, and was willing to yell at Hameln for crossing boundaries, and they had to get rid of him to keep him quiet. Wooly cows to Amanda and is much more covert so as to not incur her wrath. It’d be odd for Sam, who seemed to genuinely love Rebecca, to not appeal to their relationship and instead sweep stuff under the rug. As an adult, he automatically knows more about what’s happening, so why keep Amanda in the dark? Surely whatever she does to him can’t get much worse than being trapped in a tape for all of eternity at the whims of an angry child. 4. On the off chance that Sam IS actually working with Hameln, why would he choose to be Wooly of all characters? Wooly was a late addition to the story and, theoretically, could have been anything. Instead of making Wooly a nervous friend whose supposed to be ignored by the adventurous Amanda, why not make Wooly an adult who Amanda would be more likely to listen to?
If Wooly is Sam, we could possibly tie him stopping her from discovering the past as making sense. Take in Families, with the kitten, when you type no, Amanda starts to get emotional, VERY emotional. To the point we see her transform into the demon. So let's look at this with that clue. Wooly is Sam and remembers Rebecca's life from before she got turned into Amanda. Meanwhile, because of the ritual and, quite possibly, the possession to the demon they conjured, Rebecca doesn't. Sometime after gaining control of herself and being able to go off script, Sam witnesses Rebecca get emotional and watches the demon take over the body. We can probably assume that this was early on, when one of, if not the first, children go missing. So Sam, witnessing Rebecca turn into this genuine demon, decides to keep her from going off script as much as he can. Until when the game takes place, maybe because of how many children have disappeared by then, the demon has grown stronger, being able to take control long enough to remove Wooly from the equation. After all, if Wooly/Sam is gone, there's nobody stopping Amanda/Rebecca from finding out about the past, allowing it to take total control. Note: Who says Wooly was originally designed for Amanda to ignore? By the point we're at, Amanda ignoring Wooly more often than not could be due to the demon's influence.
It’s a good theory but I feel like Wooly being an AI isn’t right. It doesn’t sit well with me, though there is a chance it’s true. I feel like it would be really cool is Wooly and Sam are the same but I wouldn’t mind Wooly being someone else but I just don’t feel like him *JUST* being an AI is right. No offense, I’d just prefer if it weren’t that way. 😅
I love the metaphor of the Amanda creature having wool over her eyes. As as we see that she is being tracked by the Hamlin company to basically summon demons. Bael, Paimon, and Balam being the ones we hear her being tricked into saying. Edit to add: WE ARE PLAYING AS RILEY

The kitten is for sure a parallel to Rebecca/Amanda. She is the kitten, so when you want to help her, she is happy, but when you don’t, she has that whole mental break down. Not only that, but she also has NOBODY to help her since her dad was killed most likely by Hamelin
Wooly gives handler vibes. Like he was sent into the show with the daughter to keep her in line because she was rebelling from the start with the scientists and the voice that was telling her to do things
Maybe he was a past employee who also tried to rebel by trying to tell someone what Hamln was doing. It would make sense: if trapping Rebecca in the tapes worked well the first time, it would work well the second time, right? The person who used to be Wooly being scared of Hamln until eventually trying to tell someone something and then being silenced mirrors what happens in the tapes, too: Wooly is too scared to tell anyone whatever he was gonna tell us for while, until he finally does, but he’s stopped before he can. Putting him in there would keep Amanda under control too, so he fills both the roles of the victim and the handler. It would also explain why Amanda’s almost never nice to him. Since he was a past employee of Hamln, he’s part of the reason why she’s trapped there in the first place. The theory probably won’t turn out to be right, but I hope it does.
Chanting a name three times gives them the power. Its like a confirmation thing that "you can't say a demons name three times by accident therefore you are calling for it"
Theory Time: Wooly is the man in the headphones! You see, Wooly acts quite innocent but he constantly attempts to deceive Amanda. We can assume that Amanda is the soul of Rebecca trapped inside of the show. However, I don’t think Amanda is Rebecca and the demon fused together, rather, the demon holds influence over the entire realm of Amanda the Adventurer. In one of the tapes, all the stores become meat shops and Amanda says something along the lines of “Why are you doing this?” I don’t think Amanda is addressing the viewer, but instead the demon itself. But, if the demon isn’t inside Amanda herself but encompasses the entirety of the show, what is Wooly? I believe Wooly to be a servant of the demon, the man in the headphones that initially visited Rebecca. The headphones can symbolize him trying to hush Amanda, “Putting wool over her eyes.” Someone who can do the will of the demon. But since Amanda is the demons main vessel, he fears her.
@@maolin6048 Good point! It creates a much more specific difference rather than Balam merely sounding like “Bah Lamb.” Additionally, demons like Balam are noted for having horns. Balam’s three heads include a Bull, a Ram, and a Man. Bull’s specifically are known for their strong horns. This could be a stretch, but while Wooly doesn’t have horns, he has ears that look similar to horns in some shots.
Riley (aka the protagonist) is connected to this through their missing/dead aunt Kate, who was investigating the disappearances of children around town (who presumably all watched the animated version of the Amanda the Adventurer that Hameln put out). It seems that Kate was also personally familiar/acquainted with Rebecca, Sam's daughter and the star of this show, which is how "Amanda" (notice how she pauses before calling herself Amanda during the "We Can Share" tape) knows who she is; and according to that interview with Sam, Kate promoted the original, non-cursed Amanda the Adventurer show at the library she worked at. And some food for thought: Wooly's name never appears during the in-show credits... What exactly is he? Sentient AI? A demon?
Well, technically when the main cast is introduced in the credits, they’re shown together. So maybe when it cuts off after Amanda was shown, it’s Amanda or someone trying to hide Wooly from us. Either way, there is something very wrong with that sheep.
as someone who has been fixated on king solomon and his 72 demons (thanks to fate grand order for starting that up, alongside genshin's usage of paimon & other demon names for the gods), i have never whipped my head SO fast when i heard rebecca start chanting the names FRFR
I think it’s interesting how they’ve changed Amanda’s character from the demo, to being this obviously bad possible demon to this more ambiguous character. Now we definitely have scenes to imply that she’s not evil, seeing her troubled in some way. Saying “Something bad happened” “Help me” “I don’t want to play anymore” “I’m out there somewhere”. Even Wooly to some extent is now grey, trying to override certain emotions of Amanda or hide something? Possibly a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Something weird is that when Amanda drugs Wooly, she says “It’s all just pretend, isn’t it Wooly?” In which he then drinks it. Maybe it’s just me, but it feels strange to hear her say that then have him drink it Edit: just saw another route where you don’t answer Amanda’s question of “do you think everything rots?” Then say yes after she gets annoyed. (SPOILERS as I watched it on someone else’s play through) Wooly really doesn’t want you to answer her question, screaming no. But he then disappears. Amanda asks, “Don’t you want to be my friend?” With a general sad looking smile. After you say yes she says, “It might be too late.” Don’t really know what to make of it other than connect it to the “secrets” ending
@@Imtrying_girl I feel like that would make sense except that Amanda’s dad clearly doesn’t want her to be in the game and cares a lot about her. I’m thinking Wooly might be a direct personification of the directors that are controlling Amanda in the game.
Is it possible that Wooly doesn’t want to see the other sheep because it makes it harder for him to resist the herd? Tying into the Pied Piper theme, I think it makes sense that Wooly would want to fight to keep control…..
I mean, in that tape he seems to be unwillingly transforming into a sheep, he might've just realised they wanted to get rid of him by turning him full sheep (and having him join the herd), that makes way more sense imo than "he naturally becomes sheep by seeing sheep"
A few things. 1: It was a sister that wrote in, not a mom. Sister was Jocelyn and brother was Jordan. 2: Sam knew Kate. Rebecca (Amanda) probably knew Kate, judging by "I want to send this to my friend" 3: Look at the books for some funny stuff. Theories: Wooly is evil and/or a worker for Hamlin. A "wolf in sheep clothing". Mr Fox is Sam. Kate was oof due to her research. The person at the end is a detective, possibly Kate or Sam. Or even a demon. Hamlin was getting kids to sacrifice to the demons. Amanda was trying to send info to Kate (cookies like cookies from websites).
Two things I think you should try is when Amanda asks “what is the opposite of Alive” type “Kate” and the second thing is in the newspaper about Sam, it says something about Strawberry and Bananas, try putting the Strawberry and Banana in the oven after the first tape
anyone else notice when listening to Amanda ask to share her secret being "out there, somewhere" there's no voice filter like how the rest of the tapes are, meaning (if i'm thinking theoretically here) Amanda had said that in person and not threw the tv. The voice effect over the voice is there for realistic purposes since old tv's would more times then not make the voices and sounds a bit staticy/covered by noise, when amanda said that line her voice was crisp and not distorted like the rest of the tapes, so cold this mean that possibly we get a sequel where we find amanda outside of the tv and not in demon form?
Another theory leading off of the 'Amanda said that in person' thing, could there be a conection between Amanda and Riley? Becouse if we believe that Amanda said that in person and not through the TV and we don't believe in demon magic for a sec. The only person in the room as Amanda said that was the player character and by that Riley. I know it's not likely, becouse that could've been implicaded differently, but it's a thought.
When it comes to inputting Riley's name, I've seen no one try putting Kate, Sam, or Riley into the spot for when Amanda asks who can help Wooly. It might be a good thing to try. I'd like to know if it does anything!

@@Sskelll they're talking about the sequence when you're asked whose birthday it is, I think. Wooly tells you it's his birthday so you can cheer Amanda up early in the tape. So what they meant is that if you mess up, Wooly will state that you forgot it was him

I think the reason for Amanda not wanting to play anymore when the “send my condolences to Kate” message is said, it’s because Kate new Sam and Rebecca, she had a personal connection to both the live action and animated adaption. So with Rebecca’s soul being connected to Amanda, she still has memory of the more important people in her life during the time she died (I think)
im not sure of the name's actual roots, but "Amanda" in Latin means "she who must be loved" (stems from verb "amo" meaning to love). i feel like this definitely fits Amandas lore, especially with the whole helpless kitten metaphor? this is not anything theory-worthy by any means (and i was most definitely looking too far into it) but just a neat coincidence i figured id point out to yall :D
I have some theories that a lot of people haven't noticed 1. Wooly is a distraction. Hameln put him in the show whenever Amanda goes off track. This explains why Wooly doesn't want Amanda to send the tape in In Your Neighborhood, because it's supposed to be about his birthday, but instead is about Kate. Kate also dies, which is why Amanda acts so weird in the second version of In Your Neighborhood, and also why she remembers Wooly's birthday. 2. The meat shop is important to the lore. It appears too many times in too many places to not have some significance. It appears in both versions of In Your Neighborhood, the video of the pig in What's a Family could be a reference to it, and it even has its own ending. I don't know what its place is in the story, but it's definitely somewhere in there.
Maybe the butcher is tied to the idea of killing and hurting innocent animals. Maybe the butcher shop is just an extension of being abused and used and hurt for no reason like the farm also seems to represent. idk
It's wool that's over Amanda's eyes when she goes monster mode (as in, she's been deceived). Baalam is a demon sometimes depicted as a sheep who acts innocent. I believe Wooly is Baalam and is acting as Amanda's handler trying to keep the show from being too obviously evil. *There's also the old saying, "A wolf in sheep's clothing." **And I'd say her treatment of him may very well be justified if he's actually evil and she's trapped with him. Like, "I'm not trapped in here with you. You're trapped in here with me."
Then, why would he try to tell us something in secret in the accident tape? Why would demon Amanda try to hurt him if he's a demon himself? Why would he let himself be tortured by Amanda and controlled by Amanda. Also, if we're counting the previous version of Amanda The Adventurer as canon, if your whole agrument seem less and less to be trying to be true, considering that in that version, Wooly straight up tells us to burn the tapes while Amanda turns into a demon and kills him.
@@handtomouth4690 he acts weird during that part because Amanda says 'animals don't talk like people', and as she has influence over the state of the tapes, it means he'll stop speaking/start to behave like a sheep (which seems to scare him). Hard to know what the 'original script' for the Families tape would've been, but in its current format Wooly loses the ability to speak and then the ability to think as a 'person', becoming a regular sheep, which he knows will happen, bc he has some awareness of Amanda's power.

The reason Kate is connected to this is because during the coffee break secret tape, Sam mentions Kate as she is recommending the show to the kids she's reading to. We are playing as Riley, Kate's Niece. I'm assuming Kate had figured something out about the show but we'll never know since she is dead (unless somehow she speaks to us through the TV)

I want to see if Laura (the little girl who disappeared on her birthday) will work to replace Wooly in the birthday tape. The sentence "you forgot" felt weird to me.
If you want motivations for Hameln to be summoning those demons, all three of the ones mentioned are said to give essentially limitless knowledge to whoever summoned them, with Bael giving knowledge of sciences, Paimon giving knowledge of arts, philosophies, and the mind, and Balam giving knowledge on things past present and future. Knowledge of essentially everything through all of time seems like a pretty good motivation to me
if we compare the game's story with the pied piper of hamelin, hameln corp is the citizen of hamelin in this story. while the demons are the pied piper. but in this case, hameln seems to be wishing to pay the demons what they asked to get the demons' boons. so hameln devised the plan to abduct children through the amanda show to get sacrifices for the demons.

According to @Banden Blabbot has a hidden phrase, and they were able to show the dark blue VHS in-game. The number "040899" makes Blabbot sing the Hamelin song, followed by him saying "just ask Rebecca".
I really hope there will be a DLC or continue for this game. All of the secrets and mysteries make it such a great experience! It would be amazing to see more of Amanda.
Something I’ve noticed with Wooly’s animation is that it seems to be of better quality than Amanda’s animation, whether it’s meant to mean something is up to speculation.
Something more about the purple tape I haven't seen anyone talk about: The cameraman pans into a weird circular depiction on the wall, which at first glance it didn't pay much attention to but when I watched it a second time I noticed it looked a lot like a simplistic drawing of the "firmament" from the Ars Goetia. You can look up pictures of it, but I won't expand on the firmament a lot but basically all the context you need is that it's one of the most prominent things in the book.

Matt I think that this is way more biblical now that you mention demons. The storms representing plagues, the pigs representing (legion), the Lamb says he's allergic to apples (Eden).
Religious, not Biblical. Those demon names aren't in the Bible. And the lamb and the apple doesn't make sense because 1. It wasn't an apple in the Bible and 2. The lamb in the Bible is Jesus, Adam and Eve were the ones who took the forbidden fruit. So it wouldn't make much sense.

In symbology apples not only represent knowledge but sin. Jesus himself basically said he was unable to sin and hated it so. So it would be some what biblical and religious

In the second tape, Amanda says she wants to get her friend cookies, and then in the coffee break tape, Sam keeps talking about those delicious cookies. Has anyone tried putting Sam's name in the place where Amanda asks you to put Kate's name? idk I just thought there might be a connection

Also this is something i didn't hear Ash mention: *As written in the Ars Goetia about each Demon* Paimon: King obedient unto Lucifer, can teach all arts and sciences and secret things, --> "He bindeth or maketh any man subject unto the Master if he so desire it". Also mentions Paimon appearing riding a camel with a crown (might be the one that is stolen/dissapears) Balam:Terrible great and powerfull king, three headed: 1st is a bull, 2nd is that of a man, 3rd is that of a **ram**. What I find fascinating is that there seems to be two personalities fighting for control of Amanda: The personality of the original little girl who is scared and alone. And The psycho pathic entity possessing the tapes
I agree completely. I also think wooly is also possessed by two souls. One that's a demon and one that is sam or Kate if I had to guess... And the kitten in the story represents Amanda, hence why she gets so upset when no one wants to help the kitten in one of the bad endings.
When rebecca says the man in the headphones I think shes probably wearing headphones and she starts to hear a man speaking to her from within the headphones. Also if you pause it on the Larry Smith name at the credits after the wooly goes to the hospital tape he has the title of "chief neurosurgical officer", there is also a person named Danny Mcquggin with the title of "containment specialist" but I forget which tape it is in

PLEASE HELP MAT SEE THIS. So, I was looking up the demons that were referenced in the Purple tape, and something stuck out to me. Bye Yell (Bael) is ranked as the first, or number 1 in the Ars Goetia Pie Man (Paimon) Is ranked 9th Baa Lamb (Balam) Is rank 51 This leads me to think that it's giving us the year 1951. It feels way too intentional to not have some big significance. This is all from my limited research though, so I may be wrong.
That makes a lot more sense than my idea of the order Ash found (1, 2, 7) being significant! I feel like there's so many more possible clues that haven't been touched yet
Additional Lore: There is a 6th tape. You need to change your files a bit, but you can get it. The thing is; it's not lore. It's just a video of Wooly breathing and sitting down. But I had a suggestion: What if you baked the tape with a peach, since wooly is allergic to peaches? I can't test this myself because I don't have the game, but I would like someone to try it.
I think Wooly represents the children who watched Amanda the Adventurer and who followed Amanda's instructions like sheep would a shepherd. When they get to the petting zoo, Wooly is slowly losing control and completely turning into a sheep + losing his human-like qualities. This could be the children captured in the tapes being completely transformed into an actual sheep on the tapes and losing the consciousness of their souls trapped in the tapes.
Its so weird to me how Mat was able to point out in Part 1 on the "Catching Up with Sam" newspaper, where it said that Sam was eating a Strawberry Banana Pancake and Mat said it HIMSELF that he would try to bake that after seeing that a strawberry and banana was available on the selection of fruits. Cause like I'm 99.9% SURE thats how you get the 6th secret tape without hacking. (Edit: I rechecked it was at the "Amanda Is BACK And SCARIER Than Ever! | Amanda The Adventurer (Full Game)" video right at 33:06 where he pointed it out. 54:45 No, she doesn't mean a man wearing headphones, SHE'S wearing headphones. She's listening to an audio prompt and repeating the words, and she's clearly hearing something besides the prompts, a man's voice telling her to do something. The man in the headphones is the person speaking to her through the headphones.
Something I've noticed when watching playthroughs is after the birthday cake candle puzzle disappears and the next tape is played only one of the two birthday cards used in the puzzle disappears (as you can see at this timestamp 28:11 when MatPat sees the card is still on the table) with the cake and the other just stays. What's even weirder is that the card is moved from where MatPat left it on the table... (23:10) I wonder if this may have some connection to the secret 6th Wooly tape since there is the one odd occurrence in the "In My Neighborhood" tape where wooly cheers Amanda up by getting her buy the Birthday Card instead of the Sad Card by telling us the player it's his birthday changing the objective and getting Amanda to buy Wooly a Birthday cake.
Am I the only one who thinks that the cat is metaphorical Amanda/Rebecca? Because in the farm tape she keeps asking "won't you help a lonely kitten?" and the more you say no the angrier she gets. The way I see it is that she wants you to say yes and help her in some way. Whether it's by giving her closure or simply helping her get out of whatever's going on. Another thing, the kitten is alone, like she is, and the kitten is trapped, like she is. If anyone can add on or debunk this, please do.
No i think the cat is representing the demons them self. While Amanda is just possesed by the demons. I read about balam and he is a demon needs sacrifices to become stronger and eventually free him self and escape it to the human world. The cat is in traped in a cage just like the demons, and you are asked to help the cat escape. when you type yes to help the cat, te trap door opens and music plays (referensing the pipper) lures you to the butcher where you turn into meat, and is devaured/sacrificed to the demons to make the stronger. The reason why the Amanda as possesed by the demons gets angry at you for rejecting to help the cat is that you are rejecting to help free the demons.
Kate is a librarian, and during one of the hidden bright colored tapes, they mention “wooly’s read-a-thon” being canceled at the library, because of sam’s disappearance, and that means HaMelN was not yet involved until Sam was gone, so Sam must have asked Kate to do the read-a-thon for wooly, meaning Sam knows Kate.
What Magic Dawn said. Also it isn't until after Sam is 'missing' that Kate seems to pull away from supporting the show. Presumably because she notices something is wrong at that point. Up until his disappearance she supported it. Afterwards we see a shift where she starts investigating things.
there's a song from the 1960's (or around it) called Wooly Bully and it seems very connected to the game and the lore. The song was written by a guy that went by Sam The Sham (very close to the creator of the show and rebecca's dad). in the song, it says "Matty told Hatty about a thing she saw, had two big horns and a wooly jaw" In the song as well, they have repeated phrase "watch it" which is a word that is in Amanda the Adventurer. The song was named after Samudio's cat that looks rlly similar to the cat in the game. then again i'm not rlly good at lore finding but yk 🧍♀️
kates connection to sam is revealed in tape 4 - the coffee break interview. Where prior to the animation being fully realized, sam talks about how kate really encouraged people to view the show. Additionally a local library (presumably the one one kate works at) was going to host a wolly reading event as per tape 3 - the news story about the disappearance of sam
I love the theory of the show being some sort of a pied piper. But I definitely don't think Sam is the pied piper like MatPat previously thought, based on how worried he was for his daughter in the new purple tape. But there is some sort of person or entity that is luring kids, possibly into the show, and I can't wait to see what theories MatPat comes up with about this game.
I wish they wouldn't have forgotten about the strawberry banana pie that was mentioned in the first video they recorded for the series. I haven't seen anyone else come across that detail to try, and would have thought this would have been the channel to do it
Things to maybe try: Typing the 3 new demon names anywhere you can type to see if you get anything new? Also, maybe using the notes of the Hamlin jingle on the piano? I know he tried to get the fish, but maybe you can actually pick it up if you time it right by throwing something near it and having quick reflexes? Perhaps by removing the bucket when the fish jumps. This game has some really fun twists to figure out still!
You can see when the bucket tips that the fish flops out, goes threw the wall and falls back into the bucket. It's a scripted animation probably used to troll.
The only place I think that you could potentially put "Riley" as an answer, is the "Everything Rots" tape when you go through it normally (the no kitten route if you will). The answer space you get when Amanda asks if you think everything rots has enough slots for it. I'd try it out myself, but I (sadly) don't have access to the game.
Kids will often reenact things that happen to and around them in play. It looks like she's acting out the events of some trauma when playing with Woolly on the playground. Maybe on her birthday (since that's the puzzle to find the tape) either she was actually hurt or someone told her she was hurt when she wasn't, gave her some medicine, and tried to do some kind of ritual to get her into the game. She woke up during the ritual when they told her 'everything would be okay'. Also, kids will also lash out when feeling complex emotions if they don't know how to process them. Edit: Oh! She could've seen them take her dad and she's reenacting it during "play" with Woolly
Did you try translating the secret tape colors into a blabberbot code per the colored buttons? Has anybody played the Amanda theme on the piano? Are there any interactions with the blabberbot head after breaking the bot? Are there any further codes to be gained from the interactions between the symbols & colors for the potted plants?

if you look at the bookshelf there is a book with an encoded message that says "who is wooly?" so I think he must definitely be a spirit. In the first demos of the game they seemed to imply he was amanda's brother
There are two things I haven't really seen spoken enough about. The first, the candy shop and the meat shop are clearly the same location, and the meat shop seems incredibly importent to the overall story. They have the same set up, and the cut in mid video even shows they are the exact same placement with their inventory. The second thing is a thought on the man in the headphones. She might be readying to record her voice, which is why the "voice lines" are being repeated. So the headset, noise cancelling or to listen to the recording, has voices talking to her abruptly, likely due to the chanting. That seems more likely then a demon being portrayed as a man with headphones.
Something I haven't seen people talk about is how Amanda's personality seems to change far more subtly from tape to tape then just scared or killer. Sometimes she sounds older and patient, trying to guide the viewer towards the right answer. Sometimes she's impatient and easily throws a tantrum. Sometimes she sounds super young, with simplistic sentences ("animals are neat because animals are not people"). I was also wondering why Amanda says "mm, I love mint chocolate chip" after the birthday girl goes missing. Is that something she just independently also likes? Is she taunting the parents? I think, when kids and other people go missing, they "all" become part of Amanda in the tapes. That'd explain why she has so many subtle changes to her personality in different settings, why sometimes she's giggling at Mr Fox dying while other times she's scared and confused. It feels like that ties into the explanation the Hameln scientists give about Rebecca chanting demon names, saying that it's training some sort of technology. I think this is meant to be similar to be training an AI, where you give it a bunch of data to replicate, but there's some sort of demonic summoning thing going on that Hameln used to shortcut the process. The "demon" of Amanda is absorbing people to "learn" how to speak and how to operate in its role as a kid's program, and the absorbed people's personalities are affecting how Amanda acts on the show and possibly what scenarios she and Wooly act out. I don't have a good guess to who Wooly would be in this scenario... Wooly seems to act as a guiding force to try to keep the tape on track through each scenario, and both he and Amanda seem to be bound by each scenario to play it out correctly (with Wooly being forced to act like a normal sheep when Amanda leads the episode towards differentiating humans and animals). He also, with the birthday card, seems to lead Amanda away from breaking the 4th wall of mentioning Kate when he has a chance to insert himself as the friend. That'd put Wooly in cahoots with Hameln's goal of making suitable interactive children's media. Maybe he is a demon that's keeping Amanda in check, maybe he's some sacrificed employee, no idea. I keep wanting Wooly to be Sam somehow, since if Wooly is helping Amanda absorb the children who watch the tapes, he'd act as the pied piper seeking revenge against the company who sacrificed his daughter to create Amanda originally. But that doesn't track with absorbing just random kids from the community... so maybe he's trying to keep each episode on track to prevent Amanda from absorbing the kid? And he's having trouble with the rules for how he's forced to act in each episode? It's weird. I do like the idea that Amanda is an amalgamation of different children, though. It helps explain the mood swings a lot better than it being Rebecca alone being scared or vengeful. I think it might also tie the different scenarios together better. If each one has something to do with real people, then it feels easier to attribute them to different people than all to one kid.
Re-reading this, I'm realizing there's a very solid motivation for Hameln to create some sort of mechanism for Amanda to absorb knowledge from viewers, which is to make constant content without having to make anything themselves. I just remembered Laura's (I think, the girl who vanished in one of the tapes) parents mentioned how it seemed like Amanda the Adventurer was on 24/7. If that was an accurate feeling, it might be because these tapes were meant to be "living" in some sense the whole time precisely so that the show can constantly be on without any new work. I don't think fully absorbing the viewers was intentional, but setting up some mechanism that might accidentally lead to that would make sense. That also gives a bit more motivation to include a "check" on Amanda's absorption through Wooly, trying to keep each episode constrained to normal kids TV but not being particularly successful at it.
What would make sense is that Amanda is both Rebecca and whatever entity is controlling her. Reason why she switches personality. You can clearly see there's something else controlling her when she's doesn't want to go into the butchers.

hey matpat, fun fact: if you put "Colton" in the kitchen tape (where Amanda asks you what's your favourite pie), the tv will glitch out and it will play the tape from the chest (the tape where Amanda is asking you if she can share her secret)
Kate and Sam are connected because they seemed to be good friends. It mentioned in the "Coffee Break" tape that Kate was always talking about Amanda the Adventurer (the original show) during reading time, which Sam mentions and thanks her for in the tape. It also mentioned during the news broadcast talking about Sam's death, that Hamlin put out a statement basically showing how they were taking full control over the show and Rebecca, even making a statement implying that Sam abandoned Rebecca, which he would never do! They mention how "Wooly's Read Along", or something like that, at the *library* was canceled. This is when Kate knew something was up. I think Hamlin cut off all ties with Kate despite her wanting to know what was going on and despite her being so close to the show before. We know Kate was close with Rebecca because Amanda calls Kate her friend! So when the company suddenly refused to let Kate see her, she must've known something was wrong. So she started looking into it. We see at the very beginning of the game a long note from a citizen to Kate, talking about the missing children. It mentions how Kate "was always looking into this stuff". Kate also disguised multiple clues and tapes about what was going on as simply tapes that had Riley's favorite movies on them, meaning she was clearly hiding something and was potentially being followed. When kids were going missing, Kate was doing everything to find out what was going on with the show and Hamlin. The beginning of the game is a letter addressed to Riley, and it seems like the final will and testament of Kate, but it never actually mentions that Kate was dying, simply that if Riley had this, it meant they would never see Kate again. It's possible that whatever was following Kate finally caught up to her, either that or she really just died before she could finish her work. Wooly is probably the biggest mystery behind this game, funnily enough, but it seems like he KNEW Kate, enough to feel sad when thinking about her and hearing her name, which helps draw a few connections. It's POSSIBLE that Wooly is actually Sam himself, put into the game to watch over Amanda/Rebecca. It would explain his care for her and his worry about her well-being, as well as a few other connections like Wooly immediately reacting when you input "Sam" in the Families Tape, whilst Amanda needed a few seconds to process it.
Actually, we do know Kate and sams relationship because in the secret coffee break vhs tape, sam talk about how there hasn’t been a day at story time at the library that she hasn’t talked about it. Even though kate is a common name, with all the other coincidences with blabbot and Amanda, it doesn’t seem too far off to say that the kate Sam talks about is aunt kate.
i have to say that ive been thinking about the strawberry banana thing since he said it in the first episode and im kinda upset he hasnt tried it. also, when blabbot says “send my condolences to kate” wouldnt that mean that SHE lost someone, not that she died? when you send condolences, you are telling that person things like “i pray for you” or “rip” right?
Yeah, I wondered about the phrasing on "condolences". Perhaps it's to do with Sam's death/disappearance? They seem to have been friends and I don't think any other characters are linked to Kate except Riley
1. Matt's deciphering of the purple tape was amazing to watch! The way he figured out the names of those demons was masterful! Good job on the game devs for being able to sneak those for the lore! 2. I think Hameln is just trying to get as much magic, dark or otherwise, to somehow do the whole Pide piper thing. Using these demons & magic artifact to gain some power or control. 3. To clear up the same & Kate thing, Sam mentions her in the red tape as a "pioneer of spreading the word" of the live action show. 4. Its of my theory that the man in the final ending is Sam
@@Dante-Balisk What makes me think so is a video made by Horrorscoped examining the game in free cam. When he showed an up close of the person, & around the edge of the mask, you can see their skin color, which looks like Sam's.
I think Halmen using the demons was them going in over their heads to create the next big hit TV show. Less evil kidnapping and more "GET THE KIDS HOOKED". The demons obviously not playing ball as the show becomes a demented mess.
I'm fairly certain that Sam is dead by this point. Maybe the person at the end was whoever wrote those letters to Kate about her brother's disappearance?
I know it’s probably a stretch but I remember Mat meant to make the strawberry banana pie in the pie puzzle part from when Sam makes the reference to strawberry banana pancakes being his favorite so there might be some lore there.

I would like to see what happens if, after decapitating both, you try putting Blabbot's head on the doll's body or vice versa. Considering all the endings seem to be present by the end of Mat's playthrough, it probably won't do anything, but that was the first thing I thought of during the main gameplay when Blabbot's head popped off.
Halfway through the video theories 1- can you fuse the robot head with the soll headless body? 2- can you cut the tv cable with the scissors? 3- can you input Riley on how the cat feels?
Also forgot to add after watching the whole video, 4- maybe becca (rebecca) instead of Riley for the cat 5- try the demon names on the "friend" and other places

Just a note when Amanda says “the man in the headphones” I think she was being fed her “lines” through a headphone set. They paused it to talk and she heard a man’s voice, presumably one of the demons, tell her to do something. She thinks the voice is “in” the headphones.
I think she was reading a paper script and then the demons possess her mind and makes her hear stuff she doesn’t want to do. She thinks it from the headphones but it’s coming from her own head

Wooly really went to being the victim in the original game to giving off HEAVY vibes that he's more of Amanda's *Handler* either keeping her distracted or on script with the show when she goes off and remembers something from her real life. If thats the case HamelN dosen't pay him enough

Right? I don't trust him. He's guiding Amanda through things and he turned the neighborhood tape into a birthday tape when Amanda started to forget things. Not to mention that when Amanda turns into a monster it seems like she has wool covering her eyes, like she's being deceived by Wooly
Do you mean the producer guy with the nervous stutter when talking to Amanda and her dad in the purple tape??? That really checks out!! Wooly reacts when you type in "Sam" during the barn scene and that would be interesting narratively. The producer guy and Wooly both have the job of trying to calm Amanda/Sam down by "taking 5", or cheering Amanda up somehow, and they both have a nervous energy about them. Maybe he was a guy who was roped into the whole deal and was in charge of Amanda. I don't think he wanted to do what he did but never had the spine to stand up to Hamlin, similar to how he never had the spine to stand up to Amanda.

I love how amid all the mystery of the tapes and Amanda and Wolly, the fact that there are apparently also sentient toys is just totally glossed over. Blabbot displays awareness of his surroundings and a sense of self preservation. Dolly can apparently feel pain and can see things like the type of flowers being presented to her. Between FnaF and Poppy, and the like, sentient toys is now just a normal thing in horror games

Considering how this entire place, if we take it at face value and everything is happening as is, is _really weird_ and almost runs like an actual dream,
I assume that it’s due to the presence of Amanda or the haunted Hameln stuff, as both have varying amounts of control over the attic overall.
I believe it was mentioned at the start of the game, how aunt kate was working with the occult. I think her antic was her "office" where she just kept all the spookies
Sam created the show, Rebecca is sam's adopted daughter who also voices Amanda, Kate was a librarian who helped spread the word about sam's show and also seems to be who is videotaping the "recording booth" tape, and Riley is Kate's niece/ the player watching the tapes

I have a theory that the person who is talking in the Rileys fav movies and Summer 1984 tape is wooly. He’s trying to get us to confront Amanda which is why at the beginning of Riley Fav Movies it shows the first ever tape and wooly introduceing himself. It also cuts from Wooly in the original game saying “we don’t have much time.” That’s wooly trying to convey the importance of the situation.
The reason why he’s using Riley’s tapes to communicate is probably to avoid being notices by Amanda. He might have some power over the original tapes because he is able to change the plot of the 2nd neighborhood tape by saying that it’s his birthday.
Another common theory is that wooly is a demon. If you look at the monster you see wool covering the monsters eyes. So a theory is that wooly is "pulling the wool over Amanda's eyes."

Interesting tidbits about the three demons named in the Purple tape: Bael, as Ash said in the video, is associated with cats (there's the cat we're supposed to help; Balam is said to have three heads, one of which is a ram (possible Wooly association?); and Paimon is described as wearing a large, regal crown (like the one that was stolen?). I thought these connections were interesting!

I think wooly might be some kind of program designed to keep Amanda under control, because we see him try to placate her, calm her down, or direct her, but she's more powerful then him now.
Perhaps he was Rebecca's handler in the real world? The one in charge of Amanda, the one that keeps her on script, and the one who keeps her happy and calm. Perhaps even the nervous producer guy in the purple tape is him. I'm not saying he's a producer or really evil, probably just a worker who never had the spine to stand up to Hamlin, just like how he never had the spine to stand up to Amanda. Might also explain why he's a sheep.
"Don't be a sheep" is a way of saying that each individual in a group shouldn't blindly be thinking, or acting, the same way. It means that they can't, or will not, act on their own accord. Being "a sheep" is also just a term that means cowardly or submissive. Wooly never went up against Hamlin when he should've, and now that's reflected in his appearance.

If I’m imagining the wooly in a chair tape correctly, I think it could be showing what happened to wooly after Amanda “doctored” him. The comparing him to a thoughtless, mindless sheep in the farm episode may hint to this.

I think wooly is a man made friend or creature of some sort that isn’t real/easily replaceable. Maybe the sheep at the farm are past woolys who amanda eventually got mad at. They keep rebooting wooly because she kills him or lobotomizes him and they send his past versions to the farm which is why he’s so afraid of going
Here’s how I think it goes, in order:
1. Sam Colton adopted Rebecca, who inspired him to create the original non-messed up Amanda the Adventurer. The show was local and promoted by a friend of his, Kate the librarian. Kate later died after investigating what happened, and WE play as Riley, who Kate was the aunt of.
2. Sam’s show gets picked up by Hameln Entertainment to be made into a real show. Sam is excited, but after a while, it becomes clear that Hameln’s intentions are not as good as they seem.
3. This is where speculative ideas come in. The original concept for ATA was as a live action show, but somewhere along the way, it was envisioned to be a cartoon. It seems the company grew interested in using dark magic to envié Rebecca’s soul into the show.
(My personal reason as to why: corporate greed. If Rebecca is stuck in the cartoon, it means they don’t need to get another actress to replace Rebecca as she gets older, and they can keep the show running until it stops making money, because their star is a part of it)
4. Sam gets wind of this and tries to shut it down, and is killed for it by Hameln. Now that Sam is out of the way, there is NO ONE who can protect Rebecca. They go through with the ritual and Rebecca becomes Amanda.
5. However, there is a caveat that Hameln overlooked. Making demonic rituals always comes with a price. Rebecca is not alone, but whatever demon they made a pact with is now attached to the show as well. This is why kids start disappearing; as long as the show is still running, the demon still hungers for more and more souls from children. Because of this, there are two entities within the character of Amanda; Rebecca, who is traumatized and alone within the world of ATA, and the demon that uses Amanda as a vessel to get more souls.
6. Who is Wooly? He’s an original character to the ATA cartoon, but also an AI that is built to keep Amanda/Rebecca in check. Hameln designed him to be a friend to Amanda, but also to stop her from lashing out too much and disrupting the show. Wooly is not bad, but neutral: he wants to help Amanda, but he was created to watch over an aggressive and traumatized little girl by a company that couldn’t care less about either of them. Amanda is a victim of Hameln’s greediness and Wooly is a victim of their lack of foresight. The company did not predict Amanda becoming more powerful.
I’ve also heard some theorize that Wooly is Sam, but I disagree for a few reasons:
1. If Wooly is Sam, why is he trying to prevent Amanda from digging deeper into their past? Why wouldn’t the two work together, and why would he be so cooperative with Hameln by trying to keep Amanda in the dark? Out of anyone besides Rebecca, Sam has the least reason to cooperate with Hameln, since they stole his ideas, his tv show, and above all else, HIS DAUGHTER.
2. If Sam is in the game, it makes less sense for Amanda to be upset about being ALONE. She constantly emphasize feeling scared and lonely, which wouldn’t make too much sense if she wasn’t the only soul inhabiting the show. It makes her pain more understandable if you interpret her as the only ACTUAL human trapped in the show.
3. Wooly and Sam don’t really act similar at all. Sam is much more confident and confrontational, and was willing to yell at Hameln for crossing boundaries, and they had to get rid of him to keep him quiet. Wooly cows to Amanda and is much more covert so as to not incur her wrath. It’d be odd for Sam, who seemed to genuinely love Rebecca, to not appeal to their relationship and instead sweep stuff under the rug. As an adult, he automatically knows more about what’s happening, so why keep Amanda in the dark? Surely whatever she does to him can’t get much worse than being trapped in a tape for all of eternity at the whims of an angry child.
4. On the off chance that Sam IS actually working with Hameln, why would he choose to be Wooly of all characters? Wooly was a late addition to the story and, theoretically, could have been anything. Instead of making Wooly a nervous friend whose supposed to be ignored by the adventurous Amanda, why not make Wooly an adult who Amanda would be more likely to listen to?
If Wooly is Sam, we could possibly tie him stopping her from discovering the past as making sense. Take in Families, with the kitten, when you type no, Amanda starts to get emotional, VERY emotional. To the point we see her transform into the demon.
So let's look at this with that clue.
Wooly is Sam and remembers Rebecca's life from before she got turned into Amanda. Meanwhile, because of the ritual and, quite possibly, the possession to the demon they conjured, Rebecca doesn't. Sometime after gaining control of herself and being able to go off script, Sam witnesses Rebecca get emotional and watches the demon take over the body.
We can probably assume that this was early on, when one of, if not the first, children go missing.
So Sam, witnessing Rebecca turn into this genuine demon, decides to keep her from going off script as much as he can.
Until when the game takes place, maybe because of how many children have disappeared by then, the demon has grown stronger, being able to take control long enough to remove Wooly from the equation.
After all, if Wooly/Sam is gone, there's nobody stopping Amanda/Rebecca from finding out about the past, allowing it to take total control.
Note: Who says Wooly was originally designed for Amanda to ignore? By the point we're at, Amanda ignoring Wooly more often than not could be due to the demon's influence.

It’s a good theory but I feel like Wooly being an AI isn’t right. It doesn’t sit well with me, though there is a chance it’s true. I feel like it would be really cool is Wooly and Sam are the same but I wouldn’t mind Wooly being someone else but I just don’t feel like him *JUST* being an AI is right. No offense, I’d just prefer if it weren’t that way. 😅
I love the metaphor of the Amanda creature having wool over her eyes. As as we see that she is being tracked by the Hamlin company to basically summon demons. Bael, Paimon, and Balam being the ones we hear her being tricked into saying.

The kitten is for sure a parallel to Rebecca/Amanda. She is the kitten, so when you want to help her, she is happy, but when you don’t, she has that whole mental break down. Not only that, but she also has NOBODY to help her since her dad was killed most likely by Hamelin

Maybe he was a past employee who also tried to rebel by trying to tell someone what Hamln was doing. It would make sense: if trapping Rebecca in the tapes worked well the first time, it would work well the second time, right? The person who used to be Wooly being scared of Hamln until eventually trying to tell someone something and then being silenced mirrors what happens in the tapes, too: Wooly is too scared to tell anyone whatever he was gonna tell us for while, until he finally does, but he’s stopped before he can. Putting him in there would keep Amanda under control too, so he fills both the roles of the victim and the handler. It would also explain why Amanda’s almost never nice to him. Since he was a past employee of Hamln, he’s part of the reason why she’s trapped there in the first place. The theory probably won’t turn out to be right, but I hope it does.

Wooly is the man in the headphones!
You see, Wooly acts quite innocent but he constantly attempts to deceive Amanda.
We can assume that Amanda is the soul of Rebecca trapped inside of the show. However, I don’t think Amanda is Rebecca and the demon fused together, rather, the demon holds influence over the entire realm of Amanda the Adventurer.
In one of the tapes, all the stores become meat shops and Amanda says something along the lines of “Why are you doing this?”
I don’t think Amanda is addressing the viewer, but instead the demon itself. But, if the demon isn’t inside Amanda herself but encompasses the entirety of the show, what is Wooly?
I believe Wooly to be a servant of the demon, the man in the headphones that initially visited Rebecca.
The headphones can symbolize him trying to hush Amanda, “Putting wool over her eyes.”
Someone who can do the will of the demon. But since Amanda is the demons main vessel, he fears her.

Additionally, demons like Balam are noted for having horns.

Bull’s specifically are known for their strong horns.
This could be a stretch, but while Wooly doesn’t have horns, he has ears that look similar to horns in some shots.
Riley (aka the protagonist) is connected to this through their missing/dead aunt Kate, who was investigating the disappearances of children around town (who presumably all watched the animated version of the Amanda the Adventurer that Hameln put out). It seems that Kate was also personally familiar/acquainted with Rebecca, Sam's daughter and the star of this show, which is how "Amanda" (notice how she pauses before calling herself Amanda during the "We Can Share" tape) knows who she is; and according to that interview with Sam, Kate promoted the original, non-cursed Amanda the Adventurer show at the library she worked at. And some food for thought: Wooly's name never appears during the in-show credits... What exactly is he? Sentient AI? A demon?
Well, technically when the main cast is introduced in the credits, they’re shown together. So maybe when it cuts off after Amanda was shown, it’s Amanda or someone trying to hide Wooly from us. Either way, there is something very wrong with that sheep.

I think it’s interesting how they’ve changed Amanda’s character from the demo, to being this obviously bad possible demon to this more ambiguous character. Now we definitely have scenes to imply that she’s not evil, seeing her troubled in some way. Saying “Something bad happened” “Help me” “I don’t want to play anymore” “I’m out there somewhere”. Even Wooly to some extent is now grey, trying to override certain emotions of Amanda or hide something? Possibly a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Something weird is that when Amanda drugs Wooly, she says “It’s all just pretend, isn’t it Wooly?” In which he then drinks it. Maybe it’s just me, but it feels strange to hear her say that then have him drink it
Edit: just saw another route where you don’t answer Amanda’s question of “do you think everything rots?” Then say yes after she gets annoyed. (SPOILERS as I watched it on someone else’s play through) Wooly really doesn’t want you to answer her question, screaming no. But he then disappears. Amanda asks, “Don’t you want to be my friend?” With a general sad looking smile. After you say yes she says, “It might be too late.” Don’t really know what to make of it other than connect it to the “secrets” ending

Is it possible that Wooly doesn’t want to see the other sheep because it makes it harder for him to resist the herd? Tying into the Pied Piper theme, I think it makes sense that Wooly would want to fight to keep control…..

I mean, in that tape he seems to be unwillingly transforming into a sheep, he might've just realised they wanted to get rid of him by turning him full sheep (and having him join the herd), that makes way more sense imo than "he naturally becomes sheep by seeing sheep"

1: It was a sister that wrote in, not a mom. Sister was Jocelyn and brother was Jordan.
2: Sam knew Kate. Rebecca (Amanda) probably knew Kate, judging by "I want to send this to my friend"
3: Look at the books for some funny stuff.
Theories:
Wooly is evil and/or a worker for Hamlin. A "wolf in sheep clothing". Mr Fox is Sam. Kate was oof due to her research. The person at the end is a detective, possibly Kate or Sam. Or even a demon. Hamlin was getting kids to sacrifice to the demons. Amanda was trying to send info to Kate (cookies like cookies from websites).

anyone else notice when listening to Amanda ask to share her secret being "out there, somewhere" there's no voice filter like how the rest of the tapes are, meaning (if i'm thinking theoretically here) Amanda had said that in person and not threw the tv. The voice effect over the voice is there for realistic purposes since old tv's would more times then not make the voices and sounds a bit staticy/covered by noise, when amanda said that line her voice was crisp and not distorted like the rest of the tapes, so cold this mean that possibly we get a sequel where we find amanda outside of the tv and not in demon form?
Another theory leading off of the 'Amanda said that in person' thing, could there be a conection between Amanda and Riley? Becouse if we believe that Amanda said that in person and not through the TV and we don't believe in demon magic for a sec. The only person in the room as Amanda said that was the player character and by that Riley.
I know it's not likely, becouse that could've been implicaded differently, but it's a thought.
When it comes to inputting Riley's name, I've seen no one try putting Kate, Sam, or Riley into the spot for when Amanda asks who can help Wooly. It might be a good thing to try. I'd like to know if it does anything!

@@Sskelll they're talking about the sequence when you're asked whose birthday it is, I think. Wooly tells you it's his birthday so you can cheer Amanda up early in the tape. So what they meant is that if you mess up, Wooly will state that you forgot it was him

I think the reason for Amanda not wanting to play anymore when the “send my condolences to Kate” message is said, it’s because Kate new Sam and Rebecca, she had a personal connection to both the live action and animated adaption. So with Rebecca’s soul being connected to Amanda, she still has memory of the more important people in her life during the time she died (I think)

I have some theories that a lot of people haven't noticed
1. Wooly is a distraction. Hameln put him in the show whenever Amanda goes off track. This explains why Wooly doesn't want Amanda to send the tape in In Your Neighborhood, because it's supposed to be about his birthday, but instead is about Kate. Kate also dies, which is why Amanda acts so weird in the second version of In Your Neighborhood, and also why she remembers Wooly's birthday.
2. The meat shop is important to the lore. It appears too many times in too many places to not have some significance. It appears in both versions of In Your Neighborhood, the video of the pig in What's a Family could be a reference to it, and it even has its own ending. I don't know what its place is in the story, but it's definitely somewhere in there.

It's wool that's over Amanda's eyes when she goes monster mode (as in, she's been deceived). Baalam is a demon sometimes depicted as a sheep who acts innocent. I believe Wooly is Baalam and is acting as Amanda's handler trying to keep the show from being too obviously evil.
*There's also the old saying, "A wolf in sheep's clothing."
**And I'd say her treatment of him may very well be justified if he's actually evil and she's trapped with him. Like, "I'm not trapped in here with you. You're trapped in here with me."
Then, why would he try to tell us something in secret in the accident tape? Why would demon Amanda try to hurt him if he's a demon himself? Why would he let himself be tortured by Amanda and controlled by Amanda. Also, if we're counting the previous version of Amanda The Adventurer as canon, if your whole agrument seem less and less to be trying to be true, considering that in that version, Wooly straight up tells us to burn the tapes while Amanda turns into a demon and kills him.

@@handtomouth4690 he acts weird during that part because Amanda says 'animals don't talk like people', and as she has influence over the state of the tapes, it means he'll stop speaking/start to behave like a sheep (which seems to scare him). Hard to know what the 'original script' for the Families tape would've been, but in its current format Wooly loses the ability to speak and then the ability to think as a 'person', becoming a regular sheep, which he knows will happen, bc he has some awareness of Amanda's power.

The reason Kate is connected to this is because during the coffee break secret tape, Sam mentions Kate as she is recommending the show to the kids she's reading to. We are playing as Riley, Kate's Niece. I'm assuming Kate had figured something out about the show but we'll never know since she is dead (unless somehow she speaks to us through the TV)

If you want motivations for Hameln to be summoning those demons, all three of the ones mentioned are said to give essentially limitless knowledge to whoever summoned them, with Bael giving knowledge of sciences, Paimon giving knowledge of arts, philosophies, and the mind, and Balam giving knowledge on things past present and future. Knowledge of essentially everything through all of time seems like a pretty good motivation to me
if we compare the game's story with the pied piper of hamelin, hameln corp is the citizen of hamelin in this story. while the demons are the pied piper. but in this case, hameln seems to be wishing to pay the demons what they asked to get the demons' boons. so hameln devised the plan to abduct children through the amanda show to get sacrifices for the demons.

Something more about the purple tape I haven't seen anyone talk about:
The cameraman pans into a weird circular depiction on the wall, which at first glance it didn't pay much attention to but when I watched it a second time I noticed it looked a lot like a simplistic drawing of the "firmament" from the Ars Goetia. You can look up pictures of it, but I won't expand on the firmament a lot but basically all the context you need is that it's one of the most prominent things in the book.
You know, I wonder if Wooly has more power than we think because in the neighborhood episode he wants a treat, and in the altered neighborhood episode he’s the one who gets the treat/card

Religious, not Biblical. Those demon names aren't in the Bible. And the lamb and the apple doesn't make sense because 1. It wasn't an apple in the Bible and 2. The lamb in the Bible is Jesus, Adam and Eve were the ones who took the forbidden fruit. So it wouldn't make much sense.

Also if you pause it on the Larry Smith name at the credits after the wooly goes to the hospital tape he has the title of "chief neurosurgical officer", there is also a person named Danny Mcquggin with the title of "containment specialist" but I forget which tape it is in

But I had a suggestion: What if you baked the tape with a peach, since wooly is allergic to peaches? I can't test this myself because I don't have the game, but I would like someone to try it.

I think Wooly represents the children who watched Amanda the Adventurer and who followed Amanda's instructions like sheep would a shepherd. When they get to the petting zoo, Wooly is slowly losing control and completely turning into a sheep + losing his human-like qualities. This could be the children captured in the tapes being completely transformed into an actual sheep on the tapes and losing the consciousness of their souls trapped in the tapes.
Its so weird to me how Mat was able to point out in Part 1 on the "Catching Up with Sam" newspaper, where it said that Sam was eating a Strawberry Banana Pancake and Mat said it HIMSELF that he would try to bake that after seeing that a strawberry and banana was available on the selection of fruits.
Cause like I'm 99.9% SURE thats how you get the 6th secret tape without hacking.

No, she doesn't mean a man wearing headphones, SHE'S wearing headphones. She's listening to an audio prompt and repeating the words, and she's clearly hearing something besides the prompts, a man's voice telling her to do something. The man in the headphones is the person speaking to her through the headphones.
Something I've noticed when watching playthroughs is after the birthday cake candle puzzle disappears and the next tape is played only one of the two birthday cards used in the puzzle disappears (as you can see at this timestamp 28:11 when MatPat sees the card is still on the table) with the cake and the other just stays. What's even weirder is that the card is moved from where MatPat left it on the table... (23:10)
I wonder if this may have some connection to the secret 6th Wooly tape since there is the one odd occurrence in the "In My Neighborhood" tape where wooly cheers Amanda up by getting her buy the Birthday Card instead of the Sad Card by telling us the player it's his birthday changing the objective and getting Amanda to buy Wooly a Birthday cake.
Am I the only one who thinks that the cat is metaphorical Amanda/Rebecca? Because in the farm tape she keeps asking "won't you help a lonely kitten?" and the more you say no the angrier she gets. The way I see it is that she wants you to say yes and help her in some way. Whether it's by giving her closure or simply helping her get out of whatever's going on. Another thing, the kitten is alone, like she is, and the kitten is trapped, like she is. If anyone can add on or debunk this, please do.

No i think the cat is representing the demons them self. While Amanda is just possesed by the demons. I read about balam and he is a demon needs sacrifices to become stronger and eventually free him self and escape it to the human world.
The cat is in traped in a cage just like the demons, and you are asked to help the cat escape. when you type yes to help the cat, te trap door opens and music plays (referensing the pipper) lures you to the butcher where you turn into meat, and is devaured/sacrificed to the demons to make the stronger. The reason why the Amanda as possesed by the demons gets angry at you for rejecting to help the cat is that you are rejecting to help free the demons.
Kate is a librarian, and during one of the hidden bright colored tapes, they mention “wooly’s read-a-thon” being canceled at the library, because of sam’s disappearance, and that means HaMelN was not yet involved until Sam was gone, so Sam must have asked Kate to do the read-a-thon for wooly, meaning Sam knows Kate.
It's explicitly said that they know each other in the coffee break interview tape.
What Magic Dawn said. Also it isn't until after Sam is 'missing' that Kate seems to pull away from supporting the show. Presumably because she notices something is wrong at that point. Up until his disappearance she supported it. Afterwards we see a shift where she starts investigating things.
there's a song from the 1960's (or around it) called Wooly Bully and it seems very connected to the game and the lore. The song was written by a guy that went by Sam The Sham (very close to the creator of the show and rebecca's dad). in the song, it says "Matty told Hatty about a thing she saw, had two big horns and a wooly jaw" In the song as well, they have repeated phrase "watch it" which is a word that is in Amanda the Adventurer. The song was named after Samudio's cat that looks rlly similar to the cat in the game. then again i'm not rlly good at lore finding but yk 🧍♀️
kates connection to sam is revealed in tape 4 - the coffee break interview. Where prior to the animation being fully realized, sam talks about how kate really encouraged people to view the show. Additionally a local library (presumably the one one kate works at) was going to host a wolly reading event as per tape 3 - the news story about the disappearance of sam
In the coffee interview tape, Sam talks about how Kate promotes the show at storytime constantly. That is their connection
Which is also why Amanda aka Rebecca views Kate as a friend.
I love the theory of the show being some sort of a pied piper. But I definitely don't think Sam is the pied piper like MatPat previously thought, based on how worried he was for his daughter in the new purple tape. But there is some sort of person or entity that is luring kids, possibly into the show, and I can't wait to see what theories MatPat comes up with about this game.

Things to maybe try: Typing the 3 new demon names anywhere you can type to see if you get anything new? Also, maybe using the notes of the Hamlin jingle on the piano? I know he tried to get the fish, but maybe you can actually pick it up if you time it right by throwing something near it and having quick reflexes? Perhaps by removing the bucket when the fish jumps. This game has some really fun twists to figure out still!
You can see when the bucket tips that the fish flops out, goes threw the wall and falls back into the bucket. It's a scripted animation probably used to troll.

Kids will often reenact things that happen to and around them in play. It looks like she's acting out the events of some trauma when playing with Woolly on the playground. Maybe on her birthday (since that's the puzzle to find the tape) either she was actually hurt or someone told her she was hurt when she wasn't, gave her some medicine, and tried to do some kind of ritual to get her into the game. She woke up during the ritual when they told her 'everything would be okay'.
Also, kids will also lash out when feeling complex emotions if they don't know how to process them.

if you look at the bookshelf there is a book with an encoded message that says "who is wooly?" so I think he must definitely be a spirit. In the first demos of the game they seemed to imply he was amanda's brother
There are two things I haven't really seen spoken enough about. The first, the candy shop and the meat shop are clearly the same location, and the meat shop seems incredibly importent to the overall story. They have the same set up, and the cut in mid video even shows they are the exact same placement with their inventory. The second thing is a thought on the man in the headphones. She might be readying to record her voice, which is why the "voice lines" are being repeated. So the headset, noise cancelling or to listen to the recording, has voices talking to her abruptly, likely due to the chanting. That seems more likely then a demon being portrayed as a man with headphones.
Something I haven't seen people talk about is how Amanda's personality seems to change far more subtly from tape to tape then just scared or killer. Sometimes she sounds older and patient, trying to guide the viewer towards the right answer. Sometimes she's impatient and easily throws a tantrum. Sometimes she sounds super young, with simplistic sentences ("animals are neat because animals are not people").
I was also wondering why Amanda says "mm, I love mint chocolate chip" after the birthday girl goes missing. Is that something she just independently also likes? Is she taunting the parents?
I think, when kids and other people go missing, they "all" become part of Amanda in the tapes. That'd explain why she has so many subtle changes to her personality in different settings, why sometimes she's giggling at Mr Fox dying while other times she's scared and confused. It feels like that ties into the explanation the Hameln scientists give about Rebecca chanting demon names, saying that it's training some sort of technology. I think this is meant to be similar to be training an AI, where you give it a bunch of data to replicate, but there's some sort of demonic summoning thing going on that Hameln used to shortcut the process. The "demon" of Amanda is absorbing people to "learn" how to speak and how to operate in its role as a kid's program, and the absorbed people's personalities are affecting how Amanda acts on the show and possibly what scenarios she and Wooly act out.
I don't have a good guess to who Wooly would be in this scenario... Wooly seems to act as a guiding force to try to keep the tape on track through each scenario, and both he and Amanda seem to be bound by each scenario to play it out correctly (with Wooly being forced to act like a normal sheep when Amanda leads the episode towards differentiating humans and animals). He also, with the birthday card, seems to lead Amanda away from breaking the 4th wall of mentioning Kate when he has a chance to insert himself as the friend. That'd put Wooly in cahoots with Hameln's goal of making suitable interactive children's media. Maybe he is a demon that's keeping Amanda in check, maybe he's some sacrificed employee, no idea.
I keep wanting Wooly to be Sam somehow, since if Wooly is helping Amanda absorb the children who watch the tapes, he'd act as the pied piper seeking revenge against the company who sacrificed his daughter to create Amanda originally. But that doesn't track with absorbing just random kids from the community... so maybe he's trying to keep each episode on track to prevent Amanda from absorbing the kid? And he's having trouble with the rules for how he's forced to act in each episode? It's weird.
I do like the idea that Amanda is an amalgamation of different children, though. It helps explain the mood swings a lot better than it being Rebecca alone being scared or vengeful. I think it might also tie the different scenarios together better. If each one has something to do with real people, then it feels easier to attribute them to different people than all to one kid.

Re-reading this, I'm realizing there's a very solid motivation for Hameln to create some sort of mechanism for Amanda to absorb knowledge from viewers, which is to make constant content without having to make anything themselves. I just remembered Laura's (I think, the girl who vanished in one of the tapes) parents mentioned how it seemed like Amanda the Adventurer was on 24/7. If that was an accurate feeling, it might be because these tapes were meant to be "living" in some sense the whole time precisely so that the show can constantly be on without any new work.
I don't think fully absorbing the viewers was intentional, but setting up some mechanism that might accidentally lead to that would make sense. That also gives a bit more motivation to include a "check" on Amanda's absorption through Wooly, trying to keep each episode constrained to normal kids TV but not being particularly successful at it.
What would make sense is that Amanda is both Rebecca and whatever entity is controlling her. Reason why she switches personality. You can clearly see there's something else controlling her when she's doesn't want to go into the butchers.

hey matpat, fun fact: if you put "Colton" in the kitchen tape (where Amanda asks you what's your favourite pie), the tv will glitch out and it will play the tape from the chest (the tape where Amanda is asking you if she can share her secret)
Kate and Sam are connected because they seemed to be good friends. It mentioned in the "Coffee Break" tape that Kate was always talking about Amanda the Adventurer (the original show) during reading time, which Sam mentions and thanks her for in the tape.
It also mentioned during the news broadcast talking about Sam's death, that Hamlin put out a statement basically showing how they were taking full control over the show and Rebecca, even making a statement implying that Sam abandoned Rebecca, which he would never do! They mention how "Wooly's Read Along", or something like that, at the *library* was canceled.
This is when Kate knew something was up. I think Hamlin cut off all ties with Kate despite her wanting to know what was going on and despite her being so close to the show before. We know Kate was close with Rebecca because Amanda calls Kate her friend! So when the company suddenly refused to let Kate see her, she must've known something was wrong. So she started looking into it.
We see at the very beginning of the game a long note from a citizen to Kate, talking about the missing children. It mentions how Kate "was always looking into this stuff". Kate also disguised multiple clues and tapes about what was going on as simply tapes that had Riley's favorite movies on them, meaning she was clearly hiding something and was potentially being followed. When kids were going missing, Kate was doing everything to find out what was going on with the show and Hamlin.
The beginning of the game is a letter addressed to Riley, and it seems like the final will and testament of Kate, but it never actually mentions that Kate was dying, simply that if Riley had this, it meant they would never see Kate again. It's possible that whatever was following Kate finally caught up to her, either that or she really just died before she could finish her work.
Wooly is probably the biggest mystery behind this game, funnily enough, but it seems like he KNEW Kate, enough to feel sad when thinking about her and hearing her name, which helps draw a few connections.
It's POSSIBLE that Wooly is actually Sam himself, put into the game to watch over Amanda/Rebecca. It would explain his care for her and his worry about her well-being, as well as a few other connections like Wooly immediately reacting when you input "Sam" in the Families Tape, whilst Amanda needed a few seconds to process it.
Actually, we do know Kate and sams relationship because in the secret coffee break vhs tape, sam talk about how there hasn’t been a day at story time at the library that she hasn’t talked about it. Even though kate is a common name, with all the other coincidences with blabbot and Amanda, it doesn’t seem too far off to say that the kate Sam talks about is aunt kate.
i have to say that ive been thinking about the strawberry banana thing since he said it in the first episode and im kinda upset he hasnt tried it. also, when blabbot says “send my condolences to kate” wouldnt that mean that SHE lost someone, not that she died? when you send condolences, you are telling that person things like “i pray for you” or “rip” right?
Yeah, I wondered about the phrasing on "condolences". Perhaps it's to do with Sam's death/disappearance? They seem to have been friends and I don't think any other characters are linked to Kate except Riley

1. Matt's deciphering of the purple tape was amazing to watch! The way he figured out the names of those demons was masterful! Good job on the game devs for being able to sneak those for the lore!
2. I think Hameln is just trying to get as much magic, dark or otherwise, to somehow do the whole Pide piper thing. Using these demons & magic artifact to gain some power or control.
3. To clear up the same & Kate thing, Sam mentions her in the red tape as a "pioneer of spreading the word" of the live action show.
4. Its of my theory that the man in the final ending is Sam

@@Dante-Balisk What makes me think so is a video made by Horrorscoped examining the game in free cam. When he showed an up close of the person, & around the edge of the mask, you can see their skin color, which looks like Sam's.
I think Halmen using the demons was them going in over their heads to create the next big hit TV show. Less evil kidnapping and more "GET THE KIDS HOOKED". The demons obviously not playing ball as the show becomes a demented mess.

I'm fairly certain that Sam is dead by this point. Maybe the person at the end was whoever wrote those letters to Kate about her brother's disappearance?
I know it’s probably a stretch but I remember Mat meant to make the strawberry banana pie in the pie puzzle part from when Sam makes the reference to strawberry banana pancakes being his favorite so there might be some lore there.

I would like to see what happens if, after decapitating both, you try putting Blabbot's head on the doll's body or vice versa. Considering all the endings seem to be present by the end of Mat's playthrough, it probably won't do anything, but that was the first thing I thought of during the main gameplay when Blabbot's head popped off.
