Memphis committed itself to growing football 12 years ago when we joined the Big East. Even though that conference fell apart, Memphis made good on its promise and has consistently proven to be competitive. $250M upgrade to our stadium, FedEx ties with NIL, and more. We want to align with like-minded programs that are committed to being the best and proving we belong.
Pac-12 isn't adding any basketball schools or any FCS schools. I think the minimum number of teams is 9. That gives you an 8 game conference schedule. 7 game conference schedules do not get you into the CFP.
Memphis, Tulane, and UNLV would be great for football and basketball. Maybe add Gonzaga as basketball only. SDSU, Memphis, Gonzaga, and UNLV in the same conference, would be awesome basketball
PAC-12 (what if?) West Division: Washington St, Oregon St, Boise St, Colorado St, Fresno St, & San Diego St. (6 teams) East Division: Memphis, Tulane, USF, UTSA, Texas St, UConn (6 teams) This Conference Champion would make CFP every year.
Fun fact: Memphis is 6-4 against Gonzaga. Calipari and Few had a series together. Penny and Few played each other in the tournament. I lived in Vegas and saw the Aztecs in football and BB (Kawhi) many times. SDSU travels really well by the way. Let's do this.
I dont find Kyle as being a credible source. Kyle or anyone for that matter please explain to me how Colorado State is one of the top four power schools in the MWC. Power four for what? Snow skiing? Rocky mountain oyster producing/consuming? Explain how CSU is top 4 in the MW?
@@AztecsWrapUpShow That make it top four of the MWC? Id say Vegas has a top market out west and has new facilities too. A better basketball program and football is on the rise. Play in a great stadium also. SDSU new stadium good 🏀 & 🏈 and tv market. BSU brings 🏈 and a good stadium. Fresno brings 🏈 and decent market. CSU brings TV and a different time zone which is a good thing but they aren't top 4 to me.
@@trav8412 This conference is designed to make $10M per school per year, if not more. Though I’m not expecting more. I do think the Pac wants UNLV. The state of Nevada wants to force the Pac to take Nevada as well, and the Pac doesn’t want Nevada. The Pac might be in position to win that battle… we’ll see.
No offense, but the PAC 12 didn’t have much TV cache with Oregon and Washington. TV money will be slim with these schools. MW teams might lose money with a switch. And Wyoming is much better than CSU
You believe presidents, ADs, and boards of four of the most prominent MWC schools all approved a move where they could lose money relative to staying in the MWC? No shot.
This is similar to when the WAC had 16 teams, but too many bad teams, then the top programs in the conference left and created the MWC which was really good in the 2000s. Once it lost TCU, Utah and BYU the teams it added didn’t really help the conference, although it looks like UNLV is focusing more on football. I think PAC 12 learned its lesson of not killing the Big 12 in 2021. Raid the MWC and possibly the ACC is the smart move.
Does this mean that WSU and OSU have now been officially relegated down? How do WSU and OSU fans feel about this "new" PAC12? Seems like WSU and OSU are just making the best of the cards they have been delt.
As an Oregon State fan, I can say that is exactly what OSU & WSU are doing. The old Pac is gone. The new Pac schools will do whatever it can to stay as relevant as they can.
The Nevada Legislature should be your focus. Most of us think the Pac wants UNLV, but not Nevada. We’re finding some assemblymen who want to force Nevada on the Pac. So strap in.
That’s what people asked when Dutch took over sdsu. They won the conference tournament in ‘18. Went 30-2 in 19-20, mm championship game in 23, and sweet sixteen in 24. A total of 6 league/tournament championships since he took over as HC. schools are in much better shape when they name a HCIW at least 5 years in advance

Plus they were recently named a Tier 1 research institution. They just announced they surpassed $100 million in research grants.

12 seems a bit heavy initially but never say never!
Like the idea overall, but UConn would be tough with travel. Would want them in, but would probably need a few schools closer to their orbit.
Rice makes more sense over UConn (Football only)

Great stat! Thanks for sharing.
Memphis and Tulane
UTSA and Rice
Utah State and Wyoming
South Florida and Southern Miss
Your first four? Yes.
Your last four? No.

How about Denver market and new football facilities?

I think they’re making the best of the situation and trying to create a league that allows them to seriously vie for a CFP spot every year.

Gonzaga has a good baseball program. So, there's that. But when Few retires, will the basketball program continue at a high level?
No
Yes of course. Gonzaga is a juggernaut. It is the premier west coast school for basketball and funds that way.
