Excellent analysis John! You are spot on with all these other “syndicated media outlets” with their negative position/perspective against the PAC. The reason why they are all criticizing the PAC is because most of the schools they are fans of are already in “autonomous conferences.” SDSU 💪
As a WSU alum, I like how Gonzaga is a regional rival and one that is a lot closer than most people outside the Spokane area realizes. Yes, WSU's main campus is about 75 miles to Spokane but WSU has a satellite campus (WSU Spokane) that is on the direct opposite side of the Spokane River from Gonzaga. On game day I'm expecting (hopefully) something to happen on that river to fuel that rivalry.
John Great content. Since I'm not able to leave a comment on your basketball interviews, I'll do that here. I hope you're able to get thru the entire roster. Keep up the great work.
Memphis competition wise in this conference is in a similar spot that Gonzaga was in. They are the top dog and expected to win. Do remember that AAC was raided recently like the MWC was.
Great news for basketball. I'm hearing it from you first. Maybe this move can help dislodge an AAC team. The to-be football media deal is the priority and will ultimately determine the success of the rebuilt conference.

Add Texas St , Sacramento St and UCONN for football in 2026 then add Memphis St, Tulane and South Florida in 2027 to reduce those crazy AAC exit fees, maybe even North Texas and Rice to get into the DFW and Houston TV markets. That long term gives you 16 teams, 15 for football which is the way leagues are going with 14-17 members. With UCONN football only but a scheduling agreement for non conference games for men's and women's basketball say UCONN plays home and away deals with Gonzaga, San Diego St and if they join Memphis St and in womens hoops against Oregon St and Gonzaga, both top programs that brings in buckets of extra TV money, the likely contract is with the CW and they would be salivating over that possibility.

Power conferences is your traditional boys club. You’re either in or you’re out. It’s pretty unlikely the PAC will be a 6 bid league. Utah state won’t be a consistent tourney team even if they maintain a good level. Wazzu just replaced their coach and entire roster. Boise state may have to go through a coaching transition soon..it’ll still be easily the best, potentially only, consistent multi bid mid major, behind the big east.

So sick to have a truly premier west coast basketball conference. Legit could go for 6-8 bids every year
Somebody has to lose a game. A league of 8 teams won’t have that many bids. Someone will be under .500
If they’re all .500 there will be 1 bid.
