I did a Research Study for Year 12. It was called, 'How do Wars effect Technological Advancement?' If you see the before and after of life throughout the world. You would see a dramatic change and increase of technology and rapid expansion and research. We'd advance further given the base instinct of each person. Survival. Doesn't matter which group in a nation you were. The base Survival Instinct thrived and the society as a whole pushes it further. Everyone works, everyone contributes to the collective survival. Ten years after World War One there was economic upswing. Twenty years after World War Two you would see a massive increase of disciplined workers and technology expanding into both military and civilian sectors. Growing and improving. War pushes a collective effort and collective mentality that ensures a advancement. Even post war. Money raised for war would then be turned to the civilian sector and with everyone returning home it would keep the population working with a new mentality.
This video brings to the surface one disturbing, unpopular thought that keeps me up at night which is that: the State of Israel would not exist without Zionists being haunted by the horrors of the Holocaust.
war itself is necessary for humanity to progress and evolve as a civilization, look how we stay stagnant in the recent years and compare that to ww2 and the cold war.
Yea I agree, also the bleak truth is that a lot of the technological innovations of today were a result of, or built off of the wars, desperate times call for desperate innovations.
The right monarch might do so. Give up power as king/princes to parliament and run for president. It has happened. The Royalist voted for him before he was the Prince and rightful ruler. He won some of republicans with his debates and talks.
The concept of a universe where no wars whatsoever took place could make for a decent movie or short series. We'd be a little far behind in technological advances in some fields but that's a fair compromise. Given my loathing of everyone spending every waking hour staring at a phone, I'd love it if we were still using landlines. It's a minor detail I enjoyed when introduced to _The Umbrella Academy_ ~ not a single cell phone in sight.
I love how when people show a world without war it's always way off future technologies that they show. But the truth is we would probably way less advanced. War drives technology. Look at the advancements in air travel because the military needed planes to carry heavy equipment or to be faster
It’s 2023 and we still have companies, schools, the President, and social groups using skin color to determine who gets which opportunities or highlighted overall.
The only aspects i found missing is greed and nationalism. Which as history has shown time and time again have instigated more wars Than just humane reasons. That made this a little unrealistic in my mind but I'm still happy to have looked at the whole thing. It's an interesting timeline. As they say about the beat of a butterflies wings...

The course of history has come down to a single word in the past. For example, if Hannibal had said yes instead of no in 216bc. The world would have dramatically changed than the way it is today.
@@michaelweston409 if he marched on Rome right after the battle of Cannae, the state of panic within the city might have completely collapsed an effective method of defense and would have caused even more allies to desert Rome after witnessing the Capital of the trusted ally under attack by Hannibal who just seemed invincible. Rome could have fallen and even Scipio Africanus admits that Hannibal could have taken Rome due to the state the city was in right after Cannae. Although i have done studies on that and had the Romans held their nerve, then the 2 legions protecting the capital should have been sufficient to hold against Hannibal's attack. But the reaction of their allies is a key factor in this because Rome's capabilities to continue fighting the war and how their able to raise new troops. Now try to imagine the world with the Roman Republic falling before it became the Roman empire. That is a complete historywide change of events.
@@danielbalderrama4137 so just to begin , a huge Hannibal Carthage supporter. While true Hannibal had built the momentum necessary with his multitude of unbelievable wins but he lacked the siege equipment to attack Rome head on. Rome had imposing walls & Hannibal preformed best on the open battlefield. It’s true the Romans are probably only survived because they could hide behind their walls. Hannibal was very close to turning all of Romes allies against her. I think a Carthaginian empire that defeated Rome would have been a very different timeline. More wars between them would be inevitable & one empire would have to be crushed. It would all depend on if Macedon would help Hannibal in subduing Italy while also defeating Romes Allie’s in Greece & Pergenemom.
It's our differences that can either divide, or bring us closer together, and there will always be partiallities to each end of the spectrum. Balance is the key.
It's been implied that the reason Japan entered ww2 was because of restrictions on imports and their navy, and that we goaded them into bombing pearl harbor. If we allowed freedom in commerce and navy strength in Japan, who knows how different it might have been ?
Japanese imperialism/atrocities started well before Pearl Harbor. Asia would have been part of imperial japan, atrocities like nanking and comfort women would happen 1000 fold but the stories would never be told. This is due to the belief that the japanese emporer is a living god and the japanese people are therefore superior to any other race, races other than japanese are to be exploited and wiped out. The exact same war in the Pacific would happen, yet be far more difficult to stop if japans navy was stronger than in our timeline.
That happened because Japan was invading China. They were suppose to get permission from the league of nations before they invaded any territory. Just like how Russia was supposed to get permission from the UN to invade Ukraine today.
Imperial Japan was causing problems in Korea and other places like Hong Kong. I do not think Australia would "come to the rescue" and be able at the time to take on Japan all alone.
That freedom has to hit Japan before WW1. Japan at that time period had a power struggle between civilian government and Imperial military. The civilian government was unable to secure resources needed to keep Japan's economy running and expending. The Japan's military on the other hand had just come back from a victorious WW1... so the Japanese military decided on their own to solve the resource problem by simply taking it from China via military action. And it was wildly successful action and from that point onward, Japanese military was on the rise in deciding the politics and actions of Japan. Without WW1, the japanese military would not be so daring. With better commerce perhaps Japan could have secured the resources it needed without deciding that just taking it was a better solution.
This is an good idea , but highly unlikely because there is always someone who wants to control their neighbors . But hopefully we can start working together to stop such chaos from happpening 😳.
Without war, we can’t continue as much as we have, but there’s no worry, because there will always be war to keep pushing us forward, and keep us looking for peace, and if true peace is achieved, it will be up to others to bring war back to continue our existence…
True but debatable if we were to say in comparison to today and an alternative reality. For example, covid 19 would have been so much more deadly because our medicine and world communication would be subpar to what we have today. A lot more people would have died or faced serious illness.
People might think world would be much more developed place without wars but no it would be very much the opposite because during war countries start focusing on improving their tech and inventing new things to win on the battlefield
For many years I've been trying, as a sort of thought-experiment, to construct an alternate-history world in which the wo world wars never happened and the twentieth century was largely (although not completely) peaceful. My initial plan was to have Princip fail to assassinate Franz Ferdinand and his wife in Sarajevo, but I abandoned this on the basis that there was still a strong chance of a major European war breaking out in the next few years. I replaced this idea by making a few tweaks to 19th-century history so that Germany was unified without going to war with France and that Europe was not divided into two rival alliances. I must say that a lot of your ideas about what the twentieth century would have been like seem to parallel mine, including some of the possible downsides, although I don't have time to set them all out now.
how???? Changing the history before WW1 changes the entire world at that point, Germany could never have united without a major war, that's a sad truth but the truth indeed, many of the German states were anti uniting and Austria Hungary wasn't going to let Germany destroy it's influence, there is no possible way your world could even parallel the extremely false predictions they made. None of the predictions they made except for lack of rights for minorities was accurate, Europe was destined for war and changing the history that set Europe up for global war would change the entire world and nothing would look like it did in the video.
Just because that one event didn't happen doesn't mean anything else won't happen to set in trail a world war. It would really need a bunch of have-nots. Tensions were always rising, there would be something or the other that would have anyhow ignited the flame.
World Wars were inevitable. It was more like a fight between different kind of ideologies future humanity will take. And once every country was connected, it was time to decide on who was right or wrong and instead of peaceful debate war was the most effective and primitive way.
In world War one both ideologies were on both sides. Imperial Germany was closer to the British ideology for example then any of the allies for example.
i think its most interesting (as someone with a background of asian studies) how korea would have possibly never been split up and north Korea would have never risen to the threat to many countries that it is today, very nice video!
It would've happened anyways even without the Archdukes assassination, Every country in Europe would've somehow declared war on eachother in a different chain of events from our time.
I agree. It was like the Trojan war. The assassination/(Trojan perspective: escape of Helen) was the flame that igneted the spark but the timber was always there.
This alternate timeline doesn';t account for Franco in Spain or Mussolini in Italy. I think there's a good chance that their ambitions would have dragged other countries into a continent-wide war. Or conflicts in Africa or Asia, Japan's invasion of Manchuria, escalate to Europe too. It's a nice idea though, that millions of lives could be saved by changing one event.
In terms of WWI I feel like it would still happen but for a different reason same with WWII I feel like these world wars are things that can't be undone in time that they are set in time
This is an amazing story but we would never know but we do know what did happen and a lot of bad things did happen and a lot of good things to come out of it crazy what's going on in the world today 😢
I have to point out that even though wars didn't happen for nuclear weapons to develop, Enrico Fermi already had discovered some nuclear-related tech, and Albert Einstein made the equation "E=MC~2" in 1905. Also, radioactivity had also been discovered earlier. So, the nuclear weapons may have gotten more attention than you said as they made sustained nuclear reactions (like in a nuclear power station) before they turned it into a bomb, for testing purposes. Hope this helps you!
lets be honest, even if Gavrillo Princip failed to assasinate the archduke there would still be many ways that could start the world war and it would happen either ways. Wars cannot be prevented because they will always be there no matter what, the world we have now is formed because of those 2 wars.
certainly you wouldn't prevent everything only by stopping Princip. There were lots of reasons for war and the assassination was just the "straw that breaks the camel's back"
This will become possible in the very near future. It will happen. Humans are naturally kind, compassionate and loving at heart. We don't want to hate or fight one another. As soon as corrupt elites are taken out of power, the world will thrive with new, better leaders and united communities. A system that is better, kinder and fairer for all. One that helps others and is kind, compassionate and of service to other living beings. Higher Unity/Christ Consciousness. Visualise and manifest the world you want. We each are the creators of our realities. We each can make a difference to this world.
To my understanding WWI was kinda inevitable at that point. Austria Hungary wouldn't give the other ethnicities more autonomy (despite them in sum being more than the Austrians and Hungarians combined), becoming ever more unstable and the German generals still had the old war mentality despite Germany being prospering economically and not needing a war. They also thought that the new technologies would allow a simpler victory and didn't assume it's going to be a long war. So no reason to avoid what you think won't happen. Also it was only with WW2 ending that countries realized something had to be done to keep peace. Without that the bar to start a war in the future would been much lower. So I don't think we'd necessarily been further developed. Maybe we'd just be in the middle of WW2 now
I'm glad you had the Epilogue, as I was going to comment on the premise being over optimistic and that technology would not be as advanced as it is today.

A civil war however is very likely. 3)The Germany part is accurate, no complains 4)The Jewish Part is too optimistic. Like the video itself. Poland, Germany, A-H, Russia... all of them had massive Antisemitic problems 5) As much as I hate it to say... Russia was always destined to collapse during that time. The damage at that time was done and irreversable. But please stop portrayig them so medieval. They where backwards but not that much. 6)Russia would definetly expand into China. 7) The US part seems to be accurate... Sad that you guys forgot the Prohibition period. 8)If the World Wars never happened, Eugenics would be wild, if you get what I mean. No H0l0c4ust means no public demonizing of human experimenting and Race-believe. 9) No. Japan only got that disgrunt with the West because of the USs and Europes rejection of an Anti-Racism paragraph in an U.N. code. Maybe the military putches, but without that... Maybe Korea, maybe Manchuria. But no all-out invasion of Asias island world. 10) Agreed. I did a Research Study for Year 12. It was called, 'How do Wars effect Technological Advancement?'
If you see the before and after of life throughout the world.
Money raised for war would then be turned to the civilian sector and with everyone returning home it would keep the population working with a new mentality.
so we should get a world war 3 next?
I'm not a fan of wars at all, but sometimes in order to evolve, some uncomfortable situations helps with this.
This video brings to the surface one disturbing, unpopular thought that keeps me up at night which is that: the State of Israel would not exist without Zionists being haunted by the horrors of the Holocaust.
Well said
war itself is necessary for humanity to progress and evolve as a civilization, look how we stay stagnant in the recent years and compare that to ww2 and the cold war.
Yea I agree, also the bleak truth is that a lot of the technological innovations of today were a result of, or built off of the wars, desperate times call for desperate innovations.
I hope you say that when you get drafted in the trenches.
There was a lot of optimism in this video especially the part where the monarchs giving power to the people
The right monarch might do so. Give up power as king/princes to parliament and run for president. It has happened. The Royalist voted for him before he was the Prince and rightful ruler. He won some of republicans with his debates and talks.
I always wonder how the world would end up if it never happens
Remember this is their opinion
with a wimper
@@Doesntmatterreally A very unrealistic opinion.
Our entire population will reach 10 billion by now
People dont realize Europe is a powder keg at that time and they needed a scapegoat to kickstart it.
All they had to do was let him into art school. His paintings were actually quite nice.
They brought it entirely on themselves.
I love how when people show a world without war it's always way off future technologies that they show. But the truth is we would probably way less advanced. War drives technology. Look at the advancements in air travel because the military needed planes to carry heavy equipment or to be faster

It’s 2023 and we still have companies, schools, the President, and social groups using skin color to determine who gets which opportunities or highlighted overall.
in an alternate universe: what if a giant war across the world happened
The only aspects i found missing is greed and nationalism. Which as history has shown time and time again have instigated more wars Than just humane reasons. That made this a little unrealistic in my mind but I'm still happy to have looked at the whole thing. It's an interesting timeline. As they say about the beat of a butterflies wings...

"There is no avoiding war; it can only be postponed to the advantage of others." -- Niccolo Machiavelli
It's amazing how one small insignificant change in history can drastically change history.
The course of history has come down to a single word in the past. For example, if Hannibal had said yes instead of no in 216bc. The world would have dramatically changed than the way it is today.
@@danielbalderrama4137 how would that have changed anything. Hannibal was the man but he still lost the war to Rome
Now I’m jealous of this world because it looks so nice
The interesting thing is that this could very well be the way history went in a parallel universe

You just heard what you said right those wars came in clutch I can end your whole comment with 2 words
True but debatable if we were to say in comparison to today and an alternative reality. For example, covid 19 would have been so much more deadly because our medicine and world communication would be subpar to what we have today. A lot more people would have died or faced serious illness.

Next: What If The Star Wars Never Happened
Cool if u make a portal to another universe where no one fought then earth might have a chance
@@TUFF713 there will certainly be people from our world bringing more advanced weapons and colonize that world
@@disinque6961 yeah but when they work together more defensive and protective systems can be made without the ravages of war.
More "what ifs" around WW2, if the Treaty of Versailles had not been as harsh, or had been even tougher
Ah yes if a cool mustach man passed an art school
You are inspiring me to make a passage about this in PowerPoint. So thank you so much for making this video and inspiring me.
Nice to see a positive outlook on things.
A world without conflict is a world without growth.
Agreed

i think its most interesting (as someone with a background of asian studies) how korea would have possibly never been split up and north Korea would have never risen to the threat to many countries that it is today, very nice video!
As a bosnian living in sarajevo i approve of this ending
It would've happened anyways even without the Archdukes assassination, Every country in Europe would've somehow declared war on eachother in a different chain of events from our time.
It was almost inevitable regardless.
It is just insane how one bullet can change the course of over 100 years in milliseconds
It's not about the bullet, it's about the ideology of the coup plotters
In terms of WWI I feel like it would still happen but for a different reason same with WWII I feel like these world wars are things that can't be undone in time that they are set in time

"50 million ppl killed in both world wars combined"
Ww2 having 60 million alone:
A world without world war would look totally different
Was a world war inevitable? Did all the tension of the early 20th century mean that some kind of major war was going to happen?
It would still happened anyway the world need population control otherwise earth population boom would have a massive impact on earth think about that
Id dare say wars have also helped technology advance.
Because it has
That one bullet changed history
Shotout to this guy for going back in time
You should make one about what would happen if colonialism had never occured.
It might have been too optimistic but it was so beautiful that I teared up a little comparing ur time line with real life's timeline. It's so sad.
lets be honest, even if Gavrillo Princip failed to assasinate the archduke there would still be many ways that could start the world war and it would happen either ways. Wars cannot be prevented because they will always be there no matter what, the world we have now is formed because of those 2 wars.
Yes and no. One event precipitates another.
certainly you wouldn't prevent everything only by stopping Princip.
**steps into time machine** "Ferb, I know what we're going to do today."
Yes
Society, the world, everyone, all would have been different, peaceful & survival.
Not really. Conflict lies in human nature, until we undergo a psychological evolution wars are almost inevitable.
Wars may not exist but societies will still be oppressive
@10:14 you gave Texas one of East Tennessee ‘s landmarks, that tower with the ball on top
Tolkien was heavily influenced by his expericences in the Trenchs of ww1 so it's likely his stories would end up looking very different

I am sorry, but this video has some inaccuracies. Please allow me to fix 'em:
1)If the Ottoman Empire really collapsed without the world wars (which would probably be the case), Britain and France but especially Russia and Greece would invade at once. France because of their Christian Missions on Syria, Russia because of Tsarigrad and Armenia and Greece because Thrakiya and Smyrna.
2) Austria-Hungary would not dissolve itself. There was a plan by the Crown Prince to reform A-H into a Federal State, the “United States of Greater Austria“. A civil war however is very likely.
3)The Germany part is accurate, no complains
4)The Jewish Part is too optimistic. Like the video itself. Poland, Germany, A-H, Russia... all of them had massive Antisemitic problems
5) As much as I hate it to say...
10) Agreed. If 19 century military mentality nations would acquire nukes, we would throw them like toys.
IF I MADE A MISTAKE, PLEASE CORRECT ME.
