I love mine. he gets so excited every time he sees me. I could ever so slightly peak my head into the room, the second that fish sees me, he gets super excited. never had a fish greet me like that before.
Stephanie Wilhelmina Haha mine does the same. I tried hiding from it so it wouldn't think I was going to feed it but can't hide from its hawk like eyes.
Mine does the same. High energy, funny expression, great vision, always asking for food, happy to see you. I stick the food to my finger tip and dip it under water slightly so he makes contact when he lunges at the food. Adorable. A Bolivian ram is his friend. They are like Batman and Robin. Add a Cobalt mj1200 pump to the wall and it becomes his roller coaster ride. Try it
Hi there, overall good review. I would just add that I keep six acara in a 100 gallon with a 13 inch Oscar and they all get along great. Also if you breed them be careful when they become free swimming to carefully observe the male and female for the first few days to make sure both parents are guarding the babies. I have on more than one occasion had a female who didn't hurt the babies in the past suddenly hurt babies when they were her third or fourth brood. Also my acara always breed fine on a flat piece of slate laying flat in the tank, just remember that when the eggs become wiggler's typically acara move the eggs from the original spot off to pits they will dig in the substrate. So be careful, if suddenly you're wiggler's disappear, they may have been moved by the parents. Be careful not to accidentally vacuum them up if you are cleaning substrate or changing water. If anyone is looking for more information on the car has, please stop by my channel and take a look. I'm not monetized or trying to steal Subs, I'm just an old man who's an Acara fan!
I love my Electric Blue Acaras! They're extremely easy going. I expected them to be shy for awhile but they quickly became acclimated and became social. They're eager feeders and are definitely the stars of the tank.
Seen some other videos where people have these with a few mollies. What's your thoughts on this? I have a 125g tank with 50 mollies/platies/variatus and I would like to maybe add one as a centerpiece fish or possibly a two or three. Thoughts??
+Wayne's Fish World there's 11 isnt there? then two bala sharks and the acara?. You should get a mixed school of botia loaches, would look sick. get a school of ten with two or three types
EBA were fine in my planted tank as fry through juveniles but now as 4" plus fish they can and do rip apart more plants with delicate leaves in my tank like crypts. There tendency to dig doesn't do well for the crypts either since they can be sensitive to being dug up with crypt melt. My EBA do fine in my hard water 8.2 Ph out of the tap and do attempt to breed regularly. You cover some good points for anyone looking to keep these fish in their aquarium.
Hello sir, I bought 2 acaras 2 days ago from lfs.. One around 7 in her another 5 inches.. They are kept in with Malawi cichlids and some geos of little size.. But the acaras are not getting any pellets.. Please help!
How are they working out with the angels in that tank? I have a LFS with juvenile koi angels and juvenile EBAs in the same tank. Looks like a great combination, but I'm not sure about long term compatibility with a couple of each in a 75 gallon tank.
Hi Wayne, I enjoyed the video. Looking to get an acara this weekend, & been researching this fish for awhile. What did you feed your fish on the video? Thank you
Just got a pair of five inch Electric Blue Acaras in my sixty-five gallon community. They are really wonderful fish with a lot of personality. They don't bother my beloved panda corydoras either which is a huge plus. Thanks for the video, I've hardly found any info online (:
Hey Wayne. I just started aquarium keeping in early January, and hope to purchase a 55 and transfer my current 20 to a cichlid tank. I would like to buy a baby one of these, and with my Christmas and saved money of 2016, I will buy a second 55. I would like to put a baby of this fish with a few small cichlids, a pleco, and a betta. I would then transfer it, along with its tank mates, to the new 55. Then add a few more cichlids, a dino bichir, and 2 T barbs. Do you think that is all do-able? Would the Acara grow to big after a 9-month (birthday in march) period???
Thank you for sharing this video and all the information, Ive been seeing them in my LFS and have been meaning to do my research, this was the first video I came to. thank you so much!
my electric blue actually does really well with platies (all of mine are about 3/4 inches), rainbowfish, and a flame gourami who is now at his adult size of 4.5", these guys are totally awesome, i love mine-he's the king of the castle!
nine years and my tiger oscar decided to jump the tank while I was at work yesterday. I have a 65 gallon tank. was thinking of a pair of these with some tank mates and this is very useful information.
Why do people insist on keeping the same water parameters found in the wild when these fish are almost entirely farm raised? I have my EBAs in water with a pH in the high 7s & they’re all thriving. They’re also doing extremely well with 2 Oscars. Just saying.
Hey so after Alot of research I got a electric blue acara and put him in my 45 gallon. All was well the first two days and then my blood parrot (that is pretty small) just started harassing the hell out of him and they were doing a lot of lip locking. It was really stressing them both out, so I took the acara out and put him in my 30 gallon for now. My question is, if I put him back in the 45 do you think him and the blood parrot will end up figuring out who's more dominant and then be done with it? Or should I return him? He is in the 30 gallon currently which is a community tank but you said in the video they shouldn't be in anything less than a 40 breeder. I really enjoy this fish and I really want to do what's best for him.
Just picked up 2 and acclimated them to my 29 planted. So far so good I think I may have gotten lucky when choosing them as they have been together this whole time since I put them in the tank. Hopefully I got lucky with choosing a potential pair. Just subscribed great info
I can definitely confirm that they jump when stressed ... I have a female that I found on the floor twice when she was going through quarantine, and in both cases the lid was on! She Mario'd through the little slots in the back of the glass canopy.
Just bought my first pair yesterday they seem to be doing preety good so far liveing with my 2 Jack Dempsey ,1 Texas cichlid,2 albino cory catfish,1 albino bristle nose pleco nd temporarily my bala shark
Very exciting fish. I bought two babies after seeing them about four or five times. I just could not go on without a couple of them. Now I can't go on without getting a bigger tank. Does that means everybody gets an upgrade! Hay! LoL! I look forward to this. My first cichlid. I have a feeling they will not be my last.
Hey Wayne greetings from the UK :) I have 2 of these eba's haven't had them too long and have had no problems whatsoever but then a few days back I noticed one was getting a bit listless not to bothered about feeding etc. Now he has stopped eating is hiding in a quiet corner of my 320l tank and is breathing really fast and heavy all the time. I noticed his pectral fins have been nipped so I was thinking it's stress. However something tells me that this isn't stress related though just a feeling I have any ideas on what it could be? or whats the best way to help him if it is stress? Any hel*p would be greatly appreciated as I really love these guys and would hate to lose him. Paul
I have a Jardini Arowana with my Acara! they're bestfriends, im going to get another Acara though. i have a Pictus catfish also. but so far things are going very well with them together! very beautiful fish!
Wayne, I need your help bro. My female Angelfish has ended up with read veins in all of her fins over the past few days, my first thought was ammonia so I immediately tested the water and it came back negative, nothing about her behaviour has changed and the male is fine with no red veins. I don't know what to do, I've just medication with an anti bacterial. Any help or advice would be appreciated
+Wayne's Fish World Yeah I saw it, I watch all your vids man, you're great. I treated the tank with some anti bacterial medication. Just wondered if you knew what this was that's all. She did just have her first batch of fry but they didn't survive, someone told me it could be stress but I've never heard of stress causing red veins.
yeah as you saw in past videos i struggled too, to be honest idk man i really don't my best advise is to go to the lfs and asked the people who specialize in it and ask others in the community
+Wayne's Fish World Okay, thanks anyway man. On a side note I love your vids, been watching since you had that giant angel (George I Believe) and I was keeping Orandas. Still have my Orandas but you inspired me to start an angelfish tank and your videos have saved my fish on numerous occasions throughout the years I've watched you. Tanks are looking beautiful man, keep it up.
I just ordered a pair of EBA and EB Rams, anyone has experience mixing these 2 types? how do they get along? I have an empty 120 gallon tank all set up and has been cycling for 4 weeks, I'm thinking of having a couple of electric blues ONLY in it... Thanks in advance.
I recently got one 2" or so. At first it ate crisps n flakes. Then i noticed it wernt anymore. It seems all it will eat is frozen blood worms n brine shrimp. My pellets r too big for him.
That's a gorgeous acara Wayne! Enjoyed this video. You think chopped up shrimp or tilapia would be good to induce breeding? Not an acara guy so I wouldn't know.
I started with 15 juveniles that I picked up off aquibid for $35.00 beautiful fish and love them. Over the last year I only lost one. I have them in a 40 gallon and they are thriving. Most are 3 inches although there is two that are 4 inches. Unfortunately they will be going to my LFS as I am going to salt. Right now they are in a non planted tank as I said I am slowing going to salt. My refugium has plants in them but just rock ( coral rock) and tree for the plecos and Corydora's. The EBA have not bothered anything other fish other than the biggest one picking occasionally on the smallest one. PH sits at 7 4, temp is 77.8, have had some ammonia spikes but nipped them in the bud. Very friendly, don't jump, weekly water changes, when I had plants very rarely would I find dug up plants, feed once a day with Mysis shrimp and algae rounds for bottom feeders. They were feeding off bottom but with the Mysis they come up to feed now. I have watched them grow from one in to 4 in .
That fish is beautiful! I might transfer to freshwater cause I love that fish and the shark fish you have(I stay forgetting that name)... Lol but Imma saltwater die hard, I been learning a lot from your videos! Love the video Wayne as always...
I got some of these to go in with my angelfish they a are breeding. When I added the acaras my angel fish started getting beat up. The ones I got aren't peaceful
My dempsey's are the terror in my tank not all the time but if there is bullying going on its usually them doing it ...They bully fish even larger then them. On the other hand my green terrors I have never had a problem with them being aggressive at all even while spawning. My Electric Blue acara is a great fish I only have one and he can be slightly aggressive when any other fish comes in his area he will run them off.
Mine is very aggressive no matter what! I have 2 in a community tank with several other species and it doesn't matter what fish it is, this acara is hyper aggresive!!! I find some just have attitude and it will not work in a community setting!!??
I have 3 Bala shark, 4 gourami, 1 rainbow shark, 4 red rainbow fish and a bristlenose plecostomus all get on fine in my large tank. Can I put an Acara with that mix, just want one acara. I do 70% water change every 2 weeks
@@kellylerche8999 not on a 100g tank that’s changed every 2 weeks. Most people do 30% every 3 or 4 days. My filter gets done every 4 months and because of the 2 week gap there is plenty of bacteria to keep my tank cycled. The post was 2 years ago mind but I still do my tank the same
I love mine. he gets so excited every time he sees me.
Stephanie Wilhelmina Same here !
It just wants food.. not greeting

I've had one for about 2 years now he's about 4-5 inches, one of my favorite fish, great personality.
+Joe “MACichlidJOE” Leone they really do have great personalities
What tds you have for him
I love my Electric Blue Acaras! They're extremely easy going. I expected them to be shy for awhile but they quickly became acclimated and became social. They're eager feeders and are definitely the stars of the tank.

great in depth video wayne. Angels are looking great and so is the tank
+Braiden Saville thanks, yeah they are getting sooo big :)
+Wayne's Fish World there's 11 isnt there? then two bala sharks and the acara?. You should get a mixed school of botia loaches, would look sick. get a school of ten with two or three types
i'll think about it buddy
+Wayne's Fish World idk whats common in america but maybe some yoyos, polka dots and dwarf chain or something

Would they do well with Discus, Apistos, and Rams in a 60 gallon?
yupe
Hello sir, I bought 2 acaras 2 days ago from lfs.. One around 7 in her another 5 inches.. They are kept in with Malawi cichlids and some geos of little size.. But the acaras are not getting any pellets.. Please help!
Hi would my electric blue acara be okay in my 35gallon on his own with tiger barbs. it's 80cm x 42cm x 50cm.
should be fine, i have mine in a 30 with other medium sized community fish
Can I keep a pair of electric blue acara in a 105L tank?
What one in a tank gallon ?
How are they working out with the angels in that tank? I have a LFS with juvenile koi angels and juvenile EBAs in the same tank. Looks like a great combination, but I'm not sure about long term compatibility with a couple of each in a 75 gallon tank.
Is it a decent idea to keep two female acara and no male? Would they be happy that way?
Think my corydora duplicareus will be ok with my 2 blue acaras? Mine arnt electric blue they're just called blue acara
I just got mine today, petsmart told me he couldn’t be in my 55 gallon with my angelfish and I didn’t listen to them. He’s doing great
Hi Wayne, I enjoyed the video. Looking to get an acara this weekend, & been researching this fish for awhile. What did you feed your fish on the video? Thank you
Mine lose this colour is so pale now. What foods should feed restore the colour????

Witch is better for 20 long acar or electric ram, bc my tank has one small angle and a ram
Would it work with a Red tail shark ?
my electric blue actually does really well with platies (all of mine are about 3/4 inches), rainbowfish, and a flame gourami who is now at his adult size of 4.5", these guys are totally awesome, i love mine-he's the king of the castle!
Wayne thanks so much for sharing this fish profile I was looking at this fis at lfs and loved it will get some

nine years and my tiger oscar decided to jump the tank while I was at work yesterday. I have a 65 gallon tank. was thinking of a pair of these with some tank mates and this is very useful information.
im thinking of a tank of these with Clown Loaches. Should be ok right?
i have a 29 gal with a veil angelfish and a breeding pair and the acaras were fine with the angelfish hovering over their fry
Do you still have them?
Is it a 29G too small?
What can I keep with a breeding pair? Would small meekis work?
can they be in with barbs rainbows and larger tetras like congo's??
+im a girl put it this way, if it fits in its moth its a no go
Could you put blue Acaras w German red rams? Thanks in advance

Nice angels👍👍👍
Would 2 be ok in a 6 foot x 2 1/2 foot high with electric yellows of bigger size?
+She G'Day ohhh yeah i think two in a 29 gallon would be minimum
Pretty good review of this fish, they're omnivorous though, not a strict carnivore. Great vid!
Thx. Good vid.
New sub love your fish

Abhinax Baidya my Acara is very peaceful and lives with my angel, but every fish is different

beautiful fish and beautiful tank
+tama tam thanks, just wait until i tweak it back to par
Nice video wayne, that fish looks great with those angels, i think im gonna get one for my amazon 55 gallon biotope.
+luke kennedy nice i gotta check out your biotope
+luke kennedy man i just went to your channel, and you have no views, join the community man
+Wayne's Fish World haha i know man lol im working on it.
Mine is very aggressive and I am not sure why. It was fine and now it is always chasing the other cichlids.
do you have co2 in your tank
+Liam Kennedy nope
hey what how many gallons is your tank?
125
Can a male electric blue acara be kept alone in a 40 gallon breeder or is it not a "loner" fish?
i mean i wouldn't keep any fish by itself unless its something that wants to be alone and acaras don't
+Wayne's Fish World Ok, thanks, I'll consider another breed.
I have a Jardini Arowana with my Acara! they're bestfriends, im going to get another Acara though. i have a Pictus catfish also. but so far things are going very well with them together! very beautiful fish!
Do you think two males would get along in a 100 gallon tank? I would love these fish but don't want them spawning.
+John Trollstin yeah you'll be fine
+Cichlid Nez haha thanks a lot man!! TANK ON
Wayne, I need your help bro. you know, just literally replying to a lot of hate, thats the comments i love, because it reminds me that i make the videos for you guys
can it be in a tank mate with my firemouth?
i love firemouths...i've never done it, firemouths get bigger i can imagine the acaras getting bullied
Wayne - Do you think I could put 3 males in a 145 gallon tank without any fighting ?
+William Z they're cichlids there will always be a minimum amount of fighting
I recently got one 2" or so. At first it ate crisps n flakes. Then i noticed it wernt anymore. It seems all it will eat is frozen blood worms n brine shrimp. My pellets r too big for him.
Ive got a 60 Gallon hex.
I wanna stock it with:
2 Angelfish
4 Pearl Gourami
2 Blue Acara
15-20 Cherry Barbs
6-8 Corydoras
will this be overstocked?
Depending on filtration, it's right on the edge of over stocked I would personally not do it.
The Crafty Fish Girl How about if I dont put blue acara?
+lumpy1space2princess I would say yes. :-)
That's a gorgeous acara Wayne! Enjoyed this video. You think chopped up shrimp or tilapia would be good to induce breeding? Not an acara guy so I wouldn't know.
+SevernRunAquatics honestly i think it would promote it
+Wayne's Fish World probably would just be healthy for them in general.
All great info Wayne. I have four myself
+Mike Nichols niceeeeeeeee
+Wayne's Fish World my blue acaras are hitting Angels!! And you have both together!! How??
Had mine in 7.5 pH for the past 2 years and it's doing well.
Today I bought 4 Electric Blue Acara (1 inch in size), d2 Dr. fish, and a beautiful male Albino longtail bristlenose pleco..
That fish is beautiful! I might transfer to freshwater cause I love that fish and the shark fish you have(I stay forgetting that name)... Lol but Imma saltwater die hard, I been learning a lot from your videos! Love the video Wayne as always...
+NaturallyLovely thanks sooo much yeah the little guys are bala sharks
Kenny Power's Blue Acara's Guide. Sweet
Great video. Just got me a couple of these
I got some of these to go in with my angelfish they a are breeding. When I added the acaras my angel fish started getting beat up. The ones I got aren't peaceful
you said they're breeding though, they are still a cichlid when they breed they get aggressive
excellent information thanks for sharing
awesome info thank you very much 👍
mine hides and run away when i feed
I saw some a month ago at the LFS. They look amazing.
+NYCity Cichlids yupe i think i'm taking one more home
My dempsey's are the terror in my tank not all the time but if there is bullying going on its usually them doing it ...They bully fish even larger then them. My two acaras just laid eggs, what should I do ? 0.o
+Nyxs Legacy well if its their first spawn more then likely it won't be successful
+Wayne's Fish World gotcha, if you wanna check out the video it's up on my channel if there's in specific tips, I appreciate it. Thanks brother
I just bought 2 :)
good review. Yeah you definitely need another one or three.
+Matt Ivanyo might pick up the other one tomorrow
I love these guys!
My acaras got along real well with my firemouth.
My EBA is with a green terror for about a month, will notify aggression as it happens lol
They are very nice fish
+FortWayne Fishtanks thanks so much :)
The Electric blue acara is very popular but the original blue one is rare, I find the latter is more beautiful
Mine is very aggressive no matter what! I have 2 in a community tank with several other species and it doesn't matter what fish it is, this acara is hyper aggresive!!! I find some just have attitude and it will not work in a community setting!!??
Has anyone kept them with cardinals? Can you just keep one male by himself with no females?
they eat tetras for sure
I'm from Trinidad :D

I have 3 Bala shark, 4 gourami, 1 rainbow shark, 4 red rainbow fish and a bristlenose plecostomus all get on fine in my large tank. Can I put an Acara with that mix, just want one acara. I do 70% water change every 2 weeks
Hi..just trying to be helpful. You might want to look up water changes. 70% is Way to much water coming out if your tank. Take care.
@@kellylerche8999 not on a 100g tank that’s changed every 2 weeks. Most people do 30% every 3 or 4 days. My filter gets done every 4 months and because of the 2 week gap there is plenty of bacteria to keep my tank cycled. The post was 2 years ago mind but I still do my tank the same
Green terrors seem to work well with me... They can also cross sometimes
