Your story totally relates and resonates with me. As a single mother and owner of Sweet Creations, I was struggling to expand my home bakery until I found sbgfunds, which was recommended by my attorney. I applied for a business loan of $85k on the website and of course I was put on hold(processing) for a while, which made me think my application failed but to my greatest surprise I was approved the funds for my bakery. With that support, I secured a commercial kitchen, purchased new equipment, and launched a marketing campaign. In just six months, my revenue doubled, and I was able to hire my first employee! This loan not only transformed my business but also improved my family's future. I’m grateful for the opportunity to grow and contribute to my community!

A tip to black owned business owners from another black person, sell products and services that can appeal to the masses. Unfortunately black business fail at higher rates because they tend to be too niche and cater to a small demographic. The truth is there are only so many black dollars that can be recirculated and to be successful long term, you have to get people from all walks of life to buy into your product. I wish her continued success.
She will not have that problem because she is NOT Black American. Her product will be viewed as an International product and the emphasis on the female growers will make the mostly white buyers feel as if they are donating to charity.
Brothers can be true it also relates to a sore lack of funding. People are often supporting themselves and seeing to their friends and family because they don't have the financial backing to go bigger. Her knowledge of the coffee market and banking are part of the brew that made her success 😉

Black Americans fuel the majority of the cosmetic industry in America. It's not a matter of less money circulating due to a smaller consumer segment; it's what that segment WANTS to spend their money on and with whom. Black American business owners learn this very early on.

We did meet with Trader Joes also, but it was my competition Mayorga Coffee that had retail distribution to Trader Joes, Safeway, Costco etc. Obviously, they roasted themselves (Columbia). Unfortunately, once you make an incorrect location decision that`s it, no matter how many special events, weekend concerts, wedding parties etc. you can pack in. Good Luck! I can see at 3:44 that you are on the best side of the street, close to your cafe so it seems like you did the location right. We also sold branded coffee from our cafe. No Regrets. Glad to see you have a passion for roasting. 😎
Interesting that her big break into major retail came during the 2020-2021 pandemic, coinciding with the BLM movement, which pushed corporations to improve diversity by stocking more Black-owned brands. Target, in particular, committed to uplifting Black and women-owned brands by intentionally sourcing and distributing them in stores. As mentioned in the video, $2.1 million of her sales come from retail, demonstrating that Black-owned brands don't underperform due to quality but due to lack of access and equity. It's great to see she was ready for the opportunity, and that Target continues to support her brand. The BLM movement has profoundly improved many lives.

Congratulations ❤beautiful giving back to Kenya as well.
This is a great inspiring story and a very thoughtful, smart business owner. And to the Make It team, I’m really glad that you touched on how much work I involved in getting a business going, and a bit on the risks and pitfalls. Ppl need to know that they need a business plan and will need to work long hours for the first few years.
Love this and so happy for her! Love all the beautiful shots of Harlem too. Want to support her.
Hello! 👋 God bless you and so I want to help give back to people in Africa especially our church members from Africa by selling my delicious homemade sweet potato pies oh my gosh!!😲😁👍

Please who is the consultant that assist you with your investment and if you don't mind, how do I get in touch if you don't mind
Thank you so much for your helpful tip! I was able to verify the person and book a call session with her. She seems very proficient and I'm really grateful for your guidance
Love your story . Many congratulations from Hong Kong
I actually do remember her from "Shark Tank".
My boyfriend is traveling to the USA in November from South Africa 🇿🇦, i will ask him to get me 1 bag of coffee so that i can support a fellow african "FEMALE" ENTREPRENEUR.
MUCH LOVE FROM Zambia 🇿🇲 ❤️
Still coffee is not paid well in Kenya & funny enough in kenya as you mentioned we drink chai but now in Canary Island my husband thinks am addicted to coffee 😅
Seriously she did the HARD WORK, MBA , surely some savings.... but almost 300k from family and friends that 's a solid network, and the Trader Joe deal...
I hope she really get's big.
Incredibly impressive network. It's smart to forge bonds that can help bring your business ventures to fruition and scale. People bond too frequently over things that won't change their life.
THE LOVE THE STORY!!! go Margaret!!!
Oh wow I buy this coffee for my airbnbs. Had no idea the backstory it was the packaging that caught my attention then it just so happened to be good.

Kahawa in swahili looks like the arab word kawa that mean the same thing coffee. I would like to learn swahili one day. Maybe some overlap with arab
Swahili is a blend of Arabic and bantu languages. It's widely spoken in Oman too
