That flute is speaking a language of its own….just crazy. ⭐️⭐️🏆🏆👍🏾👍🏾
Great comment
Def one of the best hip hop songs ever produced. Nas is so descriptive with his lyrics, like he's painting a picture for you. Then Common just comes in and his flow is immaculate.
Wayne K 💯
Perfection.
J Bond Nas paints pictures for your ears so descriptive and clear I just close my eyes and listen to this and I’m there. Fucking amazing 🔥🔥🔥🔥
If only Hi-Tech would have produced an entire Nas's album, it would've been history made in Hip Hop.
+Rickards Red What do you mean, "whored himself to labels", you do know that every Nas album including Illmatic was done while he was signed to a major record label right. Nas has been signed to a major his whole 20 plus yr career and as kept it as real as any mainstream artist has. Darkchild was expressing a wish that would also be as true with a plethora of other producers, not just Hi-Tek.
+Rickards Red Bredrin, you sound confused as hell. First you accuse sun of whoring out for labels, now he didn't make enough money, and he's simping, whatever the hell that means. Like I said in my first comment, Nas has kept it real and Hip Hop even though he's been a mainstream artist all his career, he's repped the culture to the detriment of his own pockets. Your first comment made no sense and this one is even worse.
i think this one probably it's majorly produced by dilla
i dont think so Nas has a pure balance if you put hi tek on every track you would not have the same lyrical breakdowns and build ups it lead away from the world scoping thru the ear and nas want hIs magic to lead upon itsself so he cant give us an album with one producer the signs would stray OG
g
only dilla could do that
Nas... that verse..wow.
Guhsteh bruv. Ju get me
He is a painter
Well seasoned🔥
@@naufrage0 like literally?
I just want to take this platform before me, and First in salutations to the older G. NAS as G.O.A.T. his influence on my life is something beyond. This is a reminder Loved ones, we can still always come together because that's something we on here, this song is a tribute and blessing to the. game. Simple
Hi Tek is so slept on

Word up
Dav.K 2000 very very underrated

TRUTH
It is because Tek is respected by artists as much as Dilla is.
i find gems when i procrastinate baby
Common killed it. "Aggression became sessions where sess is burned. "
only thing is its better listening to it via a stereo or headphones. that flute is hypnotizing.
The IronHorse 💯
Vinyl
"It started with rhythms I heard listenin' to the wall
the bouncin' of basketballs on playgrounds and all
the empty bottles is hollow, wind blowin' inside 'em
the flow and the rhymin' got my alignment to a science"
Holy shit, both the imagery in and delivery of those lines. And really the whole song continues to be on point, too. Love that it has Nas and Common, easily my two favorite MCs. Everything about this song is pure quality.
PunchlineEverytime Exactly. Well written, you sumed up what experience it is for real hip hop listeners.
music for life RIP j dilla..
PunchlineEverytime I couldn't of said it better than you God.
2nd best storyteller. 1st slick rick
Hahahahaha facts
R.I.P JDilla
Intro does put a lump in my throat...
This song hits home. Thank you, Music.
Facts
The sampled song is "Air Born" (1976) from the progressive rock band Camel.
This is the first time I hear prog music being sampled... And it sounds AWESOME!!!!
Isn't ua-cam.com/video/tjRa-Zh-efo/v-deo.html also considered to be prog music. Dilla destroyed that ... ua-cam.com/video/FccfybtCMzc/v-deo.html
outkast also sampled the same genesis song as well. but a different part. OutKast feat. Goodie Mob - Y'All Scared
in fact i grew up listening to tons of underground, sample based hip hop.. and whenever i throw on classic prog, soul or jazz records i'm always hearing samples that i heard back in the day in song and its like OH MANNN thats where they got that.. it's great. some just a simple loop but they give it a completely different feel by the drums and percussion they use.. real hip hop forever!
You gotta listen harder
Sad this kind of music can't be mainstream
It wouldn't be the same if it was mainstream. This is our stream 💜
Sad, I never heard this til now. Beautiful.
We have to advocate for music diversity on our airwaves. These stations/DJs are on social media; so lets make our appeal, call them out, request quality music and artists. No dis/hate to those getting airplay, their music has its place but they got a lot of growing to do. In the meanwhile, the public deserves better. Once we know the music we want exists, as Joe&Jane Public, we must demand it. #HiphopRevolution
Beautiful homage to the spirit of Music. Thanks for this 💎, it needs to be on air now, daily. Self declared "hip hop heads" must speak up for their music/culture and confront radio managers/DJs on the need for balance in their music format. #HiphopRevolution #MusicAdvocacy #passion4music
It CAN be mainstream if ppl insist on it. No different than protesting and voting to change social policy and elected officials. #ProactiveHiphopHeads
Props for Marsha doing vocals! Everyone keep on forgetting her haha
Arielle B 💯
Arielle B marsha got a voice of a goddess
No we are not. Its obvious she's a beast with the vocals.
I thought that was her beautiful voice 💯🔥👏👏

11.15.2019 checking in. Nas and Common did something real special on this track.
Hi-tek holding his own with Nas and common, who even does that!!! dude is legit!!!
Common effortlessly killed his verse. Every artist did their thing on this song.
Except the lame last guy😅. Dude was trash!
That intro is priceless.
J dilla is a hero
NAS destroyed this shit, poetry in its highest form
arguably his greatest verse
True. From beginning to end. Nas is Like is some of his best verses to me as well.

M Davis Yeah its a dope song with crisp visuals.
M Davis great ear; exceptional taste!!
I'm 13...and in today's generation I find this really good
Nas verse... unbelievable...
I wish music like this was on the radio instead of toxic bullshit. Love Hi Tek for life. The agenda doesn't let positive shit on the airwaves
Nas's first (effortless) bar on this with such a delicate tone of wisdom have me rewind it every single time. I mean the track couldve stopped at his first bar and still would be a classic joint. I'm stuck at Nas's bar yall... How the others sound?
Shakur Marega My favorite Nas verse, all due respect to verbal intercourse
M Davis that vers was used in Deja Vu but it didn't get to release on The Lost Tapes hopefully he makes a a second one and puts it there one of Nas's Illest tracks.
Nas the goat 🐐 still to this day his talent ain’t been matched but hey that’s just my opinion

Talib kweli and black thoughts should of had a verse to this
Black Thought would've destroyed this track with a verse. He's really slept on.
Would of been the greatest hip hop song of all time with them or Mos Def and take out Busta sorrry lol
I could hear mos def on this
@@jonathansantos4465 lol. Nah-keep Bus...just add thought and bey.
Ya but its so rare to have that many A1 lyricists on one track.
Man...used to vibe on Hi-tek back in college. Refreshing to give it a listen again now to contrast the unfortunately high volume of BS superficial rap music being circulated these days. This is GOOD HIP HOP.
H-Tek is too goddamn slept on. The shit he did with DJ Crucial was incredible
This song right here is legendary...
I mean Dilla, Nas, Tek, Common, Marsha omg Marsha, damn shit is EPIC
nas and common album please
"I like my music pure, not watered down."
LaMia Mae 💯
NO COMPROMISE.
Word life
One of the greatest songs of all time when it comes to a track written about how beautiful music really is... This will always rock with me!
My Favorite Song Of All Time! 🙌🏾 some of the greatest lyricist speaking on what music was to them and how it changed theirs lives. The message of this song is so inspirational and it makes me wonder what happened to the music of our generation. I just turned 18 and even though we have actual rappers, lyricists, and storytellers, they're masked by the fake artists that came in the game just to make a dollar. It's a shame what happened and I can only hope that all the true artists and the fans of true music and hip-hop will help spark a revolution and bring rap back to its best years of the late 80's to the early/mid 00's. Only then we may be able to bring back the beautiful, and miraculous poetry and rhythm combined together that once was hip-hop
i love your comment from paris
hell yeah, I feel you on that
+cavani edinson nice comment from San Diego California
I feel the same G I'm 18 and music nowadays can't even stroke past this real hip hop 1974-1999 in mainstream and it's still lives in the underground but it's mad weak right now.
Give me a call
I like my music straight pure not watered down....damn
this is quality music...that flute in the back too!
if you like it, have a look on the original : air born by camel ;)
this whats it about ... gotta bring this feeling back to the people

Found this joint on limewire when I was like 9. This shit resonates with my soul.
I remember when BET used a snippet this song on a commercial and I was just thinking I wanna hear the whole song! It took me years to find the actual song because I thought it was a Nas song. I wished it got more love then but I will always support my hip hop and give the most love! Thanks Hi-Tek!
"I reached a point in my life when I was needing a Mic" 🎤 Common,
no matter the money or the movies, music is first.
Nas verse reminds me of the scene from Beat Street when dude was making that beat.
Marsha Ambrosius of Floetry.
For anyone curious the flute sample is Air Born by Camel
HI-TEK !!!!
R.I.P J Dilla
One of the best Bas verses of all times me. He describes the beat first then his upbringing then closes off with how it affected him.
One of the best Marsha hooks.

If i am trapped on an island and I only get 2 tracks to listen to, give me this and T.R.O.Y. and I am good
I can't have just 2 tracks, I have to have at least 5. But yours is an incredible 2 tho'.
