A solid number 2? Gil has pitched like a 1 for most of the year. Schmidt was pitching like a 1-2 and will be back What more do you want?

@@jayceh Can't count on anyone in fhe playoffs. Verlander has a 5.63 era in five WS. Tanaka had an ERA under 2.00 for most of his postseason career. Its. crapshoot in October. Rodon was an ace the past two years before NY. Then last year was a disaster and then he was good again for 15 starts. Its really not worth chasing a "number 2" because there's no guarantee they'll pitche like it when you need it. Unless it's a true ace, just go with the guys you have. Monty suddenly became an ace for 6 months but look at him now. So many examples
