Everyone keeps saying that Dutch snapped after Hosea died, but Dutch clearly snapped before that. Hosea himself expressed his doubt in Dutch & fear of how his reckless behavior will get everyone killed plenty of times.
Rayne Adriana Yes, I 100% agree (it’s not even an opinion, it’s a fact!) It’s so clear that Dutch had began to lost his mind at the ferry job, ever since the beginning of the game (or rather, before). The game makes it so clear. You get multiple dialogues and interactions at camp ever since chapter 1 about Dutch’s behavior and ideas, and the future of the gang because of him, again, especially with Hosea! It makes me... surprised people argue Dutch began losing it after Bronte when it’s obvious he lost his damn mind at the ferry job by shooting that girl. Probably ever since Micah joined 6 months before the beginning of the game, or maybe Dutch was always like that, like Rain Falls said. Either way, again, it’s always been really clear Dutch’s been reckless and paranoid and out of his mind since the game started! The gang’s been on their downfall ever since... Micah just made things worse throughout the game, messing even more with Dutch’s head.
Larissa A you just said my exact feelings! if you didn’t see Dutch lost his mind before Hosea died, you clearly didn’t pay attention ‘cause he murdered an innocent mother in events before the game. if you didn’t question his sanity then… something is wrong. I don’t think Dutch ever “snapped.” I think he’s always been like this, Micah just made his tyranny worse.
Dutch lost his mind while ago, but Hosea's death was the critical point for him, went absolutely insane after that since he didn't have any reason to hold back anymore
