I can confirm that Phil went and bought his own ticket, with his own hard earned money way before he even considered making this video!
Honestly, this community is seriously impressive. So many beautiful people performing such selfless acts and just genuinely wanting to see their peers succeed.
I hope this video inspires at least one or two of you to get involved when you were maybe on the fence or a little bit against the idea.
It’s going be a great time, no matter how many more people do or don’t turn up - but there’s a real opportunity for Ryan to smash the previous attendance record at an independent UK Kill Team tournament (which is my record!) and really celebrate the whole of the UK Kill Team community.
So hopefully I’ll get to see you all there, we’ll share a beer (or a Diet Coke) in the bar and we’ll marvel at each others painted masterpieces! ❤

Lately I played with Mateusz from Poland, one of the best players at last worlds and It was a nice game. When he told me that I'm good and should play more, it was one of the nicest things I heard in KT.
Absolutely! The top players in this scene are all lovely people! No one has anything to fear from attending an event.

@TabletopImpulse should we try to get the Tale-of Gang and Zimbad together at Warhammer World or somewhere else, combining KT Tournament with some friendly Tale-of Games? We can now easily plan for 2025 I guess.

Should be about 5-6 from Bristol travelling up for it, gunna make it a long weekend. I went to the previous TPT event in London and it was good, but expect this one to be way better (not just cause of Jason 😂).
Good on you, people like to talk about sales like it's a dirty word but it's often the lifeblood of smaller/fan orgnized events like this. Thank you for taking the effort (and those disappointing steaks) to growing the community. Your regard for the community (even the not very elite aspects of it) is a tribute to good taste.
Very kind of you to say so! It all comes from the heart. Honestly I am going through a bit of work related gloom at the moment and I really look forward to these kinds of events and hanging out with my fellow gamers and I think that joy is worth spreading!
It should be noted that there are real pubs in Newark selling decent British beer as well as awful chain resteraunts.
For sure, but finding a place with good beer is hard when you are not local, especially if it must also serve hearty food.
Currently I have never played a game of kill team (though I have read the mini rule book cover to cover several times now while on the bog), I also have ~5 kill teams worth of unpainted models sitting in a cupboard near me. However, I have three weeks of leave I need to use by the end of September and you had me at disappointing steaks sir! You can hold your head high as you have made a difference.
I was planning to wait for the potential of the "New" edition to get properly into kill team. However you have called for aid and thus I shall answer. I have signed up to the lists already and will sort out my transport and accommodation tomorrow. I am sure I can get something ready in time for September and also find someone to practice a little against in the interim.

Logistics and another weekend tournament in September meant I hadn’t looked very seriously at Ryan’s tournament, but you’ve convinced me to look into it again.

As you said, add a day and make a holiday of the trip. Newark-on-Trent has several interesting places to visit for history buffs. The castle and gardens, air museum and civil war center.

Honestly some of the best fun I've had at events has been at the bottom tables. No pressure and a bunch of people who just love to play the game and don't care about their win/loss record. If you want to have casual fun then ironically tournements can be the best place for it.
Folks need to understand, it's just an opportunity to play lots of games!
I was the "best British player" last year. Never thought that would happen at all, and it happened from practice and frequent play. Did not win my first few tournaments, that's for sure.
You have to go for it sometimes, so I'd highly recommend to anyone considering it.

YES, THIS! Just played in Jason and Dan’s tournament up in Sheffield over the weekend and had a blast. I’m not a top level player but still loved it and I can’t emphasise how lovely it is to play against new people in this sort of environment.

I’d love to play a tournament. I’ve even thought about building a UA-cam channel on my journey from beginner to tournament. But I haven’t even grasped core rules so I don’t feel skilled enough to participate
