The Fatip OC is probably the best value Razor on the market for under €25. I’ve the Grande in gold and Piccolo in Nickel. Only my Muhle R41 outshines them but that’s another story. I just bought the Fatip slant OC and look forward to that. I used the Piccolo for 5 years non stop! Every one that’s into DE shaving must have a Fatip!
I've been waiting for your fatip razor review since you posted your first shave impressions on B&B and other forums. I told you back that time that I could "visualise and hear you" when reading the review and today I am seeing this video ! I am glad you've discovered the fatip razors , but ironic that you've found them at a time when they're tamed down quite a bit. I've fatip razors from the previous generations which were considered too aggressive - but I find myself using this new versions more so as they are pretty smooth ! As always great value videos and review of shave products. Love your reviews and way you unfold and introduce a new product you're going to use and the other stories you have around them ! Keep them coming - enjoy them !! Regards luv2shave (B&B)
Manish, thank you VERY mcuh fot the great comments!:) Yep, i LOVE the Fatip! Both the Piccolo and Grande give great shaves! The handles give a different feel and handling which result in a slightly different experience. But overall, similar and great performance form both! Yes, I've heard that the version one razor head is much more aggressive. This could be good or bad depending on the individual. YMMV, as they say.:) For me, the version two head is wonderful! Although, I am curious about the version one razor head. Maybe I'll come across one sometime down the road.:) I'm glad you enjoy the videos. I'm planning another video which keeps things in the Fatip family of razors so to speak.:) I'm still awaiting delivery. Again, a tip of the hat to you and all on B&B for recommending this new acquisition.:) Stay tuned.:)
Great shave. I bought the Fatip Piccolo special edition in gun metal. It include both the open comb and safety bar base plates, which are gold. The gold base plates with the gun metal top cap and handle make a beautiful razor. The Fatip Grande is on my wish list.
It took 14 terrible shaves to get used to my Fatip OC. Forger the 30-degree angle I would not recommend it to a beginner. However, now that I know ow to use it properly, it is a very pleasant razor.
JustAMan, you may have one of the rare, more aggressive Fatip Grandes. as a rep from Fatip explaine to me in an email: "Mister Szorady, It is always a pleasure receiving your reviews. It seems the comments and rumors about the productions pre/post 2017 were emphasized by the Fatip lovers like a sort of “legend”. To be honest all this story was generated by a little mistake in one production (only one) made in 2016. The curve of the cap/comb of the cutting head was slightly different, so the blade was more exposed. The standard production before and after that “odd” production was like the new ones. We know that some Fatipers were in love with the more aggressive production, but the majority prefer the cutting performance of the standard production." Again, mine is nice and mild...one produced form the standard production.
Hey Marc!, I just got mine today in the mail! Didn't shave with it just yet but I got it PIF'ed to me from one of my WetShaving buddies from the U.K. . He also gave me a RazoRock BlackHalk SE . Can't wait to try that bad boy out as well!
I have tried many razors over the past six months, but really looking forward to receiving the Fatip Grande I ordered a week ago. Your review fired me up! lol
@@MarkSzorady Thanks, Mark! I have enjoyed the Gamechanger .84 mostly over the past month, but I think your enthusiasm has me looking forward to the Fatip Grande more than I did the Gamechanger. YMMV and all of that, but I am sure it is a slicing machine :)
@@brotherderek Thanks.:) As I mentioned, the Grande is hand made.:) I think this is a very attractive point to the razor.:) Solid brass, hand made (on manual machines), etc. I also found the tolerances, fit, and finish to be very good.:) In the past, from what I understand, there was a lot of sloppy tolerances and low quality, overall, in the razor head and handle (version 1 razor head). I don't own a Fatip Version 1 razor, so I've no personal experience with it. I can only go by what I've read. So, based on what I've read of the Version 1 razor, Fatip appears to have improved their QC with the version 2 razor head.:) I've used Shark, Personna, Astra, Shaverboy, and Gillette Wilkinson Sword blades in the Fatip Grande and Piccolo. I've not had to nudge or adjust any of these blades at all.:)
@@MarkSzorady First shave today with Fatip Grande and it is ALL you said about it! It shaves as well as any razor I have used and I have had some of the best. A little late to the Vid, But just got me a Dorato Gold today, and Kinda excited to try it out. I have a 37c merkur slant that is wild so I’m wondering if I’m going milder or wilder with the open comb. Any thoughts?
Hi, hachi666roku.I don't have either of the razors you mentioned, so unfortunately cannot comment. I have a couple of slants and have found them to be quite different in aggression. I've had the same experience with Open Comb razors. Generally, the OC razor has a bit more efficiency/aggression, but it's mostly driven by the blade gap, as I understand it. I have some OC razors that are quite mild and others that are more aggressive.
@@MarkSzorady the dorato is the gold version of the fatip razor you reviewed, which is named the Nichelato Also the slant razor i got is very efficient… two passes then it’s delicatessen face time 😂 thanks for the quick response
@@MarkSzorady Took the dive last night, and it is wild how good the Razor is! Derby premium blade and went to town on 2 day stubble. Weird without the bar guard, but no irritation. Wouldn’t recommend as a first razor though 🤕
The Fatip Grande is a great razor. Not the prettiest, but that is part of what I like about it. Ordered Mitchell's Wool Fat after your review. It should be here today. I'm looking forward to trying it tomorrow.
I like the nickel plating. It gives it a rather rustic, hearty look.:) both of my Fatip razors (Grande and Piccolo) are nickel plated.:) I think you'll enjoy the MWF.:) Just make sure to soak it with a bit of water before first use. After that, add a little bit of water before each shave and you'll be rewarded with a rich and creamy lather.:)
Hi George- Very nice shave today; thank you! The Fatip looks like it is quite a nice razor. The open-comb did not come across as being too aggressive and the longer handle seemed to help nicely balance the razor in your hand. How would you rate the efficiency of the Shark blade? I hope your weekend is off to a great start and all the best, Mark!
Thanks, Mike.:) The Grande is every bit as good as the Piccolo.:) It tends to the mild side, yet efficient and gives cleans shaves with no missed/skipped hairs. The Shark blade has a nice sharpness that is smoothed out a bit by the Grande.:) But, Mitchell's Wool Fat and it's slickness and nice cushion figures into the equation.
The people who say Mitchell's Wool Fat doesn't lather, probably have Hard Water like I do. You might try soaking your brush and blooming the soap using bottled water. If that doesn't help try distilled water. I know some people with hard water problems will add a small amount of glycerin to a mug or bowl, load up a brush with the soap and then build a lather in the bowl with the glycerin.
A rep from Fatip told me about this razor last month. if it's the same one, sounds like it's been released.:) I can't promise anything right now, but I will check it out.:)
