i appreciate that instead of using a different model, they used the one already in game. it's mainly focused on how sonic moves, not how sonic looks
Meh I wish the generations/unleashed model was used tbh. Personal preference
The animations really capitalize on how good the model actually was. It looks so much better now that it actually looks alive and not like a puppet.
@@quickimpact9023then use a mod for unleashed model. I think mod in this video only affects animations not player model.

@@quickimpact9023you can do that! just download the animation files place them inside the sonic unleashed sonic pak, replacing the animations inside. i’ve already done it to all of my mods.

Man, I’m no animator but you can really tell the level of attention to detail that’s been put into these animations, he’s just so much more expressive and emotive and I feel it’s mostly with the poses he makes, they’re no longer like those static sonic animations we’ve seen for the past 10 years and it really shows, it’s amazing how much feel and life something can have depending on little things like this
It’s amazing how much more alive a game can feel when the character you’re controlling looks alive

Love the attention to detail on the jump animation just before the JumpBall. It looks so much better than with how stiff the standard stuff looks in comparison! I'm definitely going to snag this mod and see if it works with other Sonic models as well.

Animation is what brings characters to life, this mod brings that to another level. With some love and effort Sonic Team can do it.

Love all of the extra animations, especially the Super Sonic additions during the Giganto cutscenes. The exaggerated flourishes he does at the end as he's about to charge into Giganto to finish him off, both before floating back and before directly charging, and then capping-off with a sideways glide and float like the fight was "no big deal" is SO Sonic! Love it!

Generally, these kinda mods would’ve been too excessive (iykyk) but this one I fully support.
Just a little bothered by the stomp animation and the fact that he crosses his arms in combat. Other than that, it's perfect!
They made Sonic look way more swaggy in that Giganto fight
Just tweaking the Super Sonic animations truly conveys the feeling that Sonic has all the power he needs to take Giganto out and he won’t even break a sweat while doing it! The vanilla Frontiers animation was going in the right direction, just missing that OOMPH that it needed. Glad the mod here gave Sonic the Hedgehog the animation upgrade he needed for quite a while since Forces.
Oh my. This is for sure going to be my go-to mod every time I play the game. Hopefully they make a longer-quill and soap shoes version.
He's got so much more style like this I really might just replay the whole dang game just like this

I really love this mod, but I still have a few gripes with:
1. The animations that can be directly replaced with animations from Sonic Unleashed. For me, Sonic Unleashed is about as good as Sonic gameplay animations can get (emphasis on "gameplay"). I like the jump windup and rail jump animations more than Unleashed, but after that, I would ideally replace the remaining animations with their Unleashed counterparts, even the trick animations. Tho the skydiving animation is nice!
2. The falling animation looks strange. I prefer the vanilla one, while it isn't that expressive, it looks natural and transitions from other animations much smoother.
3. The new stomp is nice, but I think if would be best combined with the Unleashed Stomp dynamically. What I imagine is if you stomp while sonic is curled up, he performs the Unleashed stomp. If he isn't rolled up however, this new stomp animation adds extra flair and emphasis to his stomp when it feels right. Only using one of the two either makes for too much curling, or not enough.
Finally, his old battle pose felt more involved, crossing his arms just feels kind of underwhelming.
Don't get me wrong tho, anything I didn't mention is a significant improvement, and I suppose Unleashed animations are not necessary. Excited to see where this mods goes in the future.

this are really good animations for sure, but there are some stuff that kinda bothers me a bit still.
The Cross Slash move i think its a bit too exaggerated or like it looks kinda "odd" to me, the original isnt really good either but at least didnt looked like sonic is trying way too hard like with this new one, i think the old one is fine enough just needs to be smoother and less stiff.
The Homing Shot anim, why kameha wave hands? why? it needs to be more DBZ for some reason? cant be just the original pose but with a bit added flair? needs to be DBZ? again like i said before in my opinion the added animation frames/style is good but is trying too hard in some of them to be "expressive" and comes off as sonic being a tryhard, Cross Slash and Homing Shot has good poses just that they looked stiff and unnatural like Homing Shot looking like sonic is standing in mid air.
And i know that Sonic borrows some stuff from DBZ and there is a clear inspiration in there, but can we make it less obvious he is doing DBZ Ki Blasts? that's the only few things that kinda turns me off a bit but like i said twice the rest is pretty decent noneless.

Character animations do play a big role on how satisfying the game looks in motion, I really didn’t like the fact Frontiers reused most of Forces movement animations, which pales compared to Unleashed and Generations.
This mod does put more life in the way Sonic moves, it’s a nice improvement.
Though Sonic looks odd when boosting.

I wish modders like this would get hired on to work on the next game. I was going to replay Frontiers and try the Switch version but now I want to play again on PC with this mod and the beta lighting

If I could add anything to this mod, it'd be some tricks after homing attacking balloons and stuff, but that might be to complicated

The jog, run, and jump are the best parts of this mod for sure!
I think some of the added expression is just a tad much. Like Sonic is trying too hard to be cool instead of being effortlessly cool.
The falling animation is also super stiff still.
But overall, this looks extremely promising!

mainly the air pirouettes very acrobatic not very Sonic
Also some of the poses are off Like the Idles..
And The arms are to far out during a run It looks like he’s just putting them there On purpose Not a passive effect of him running so. Fast.

Mod is great but some animations could use some tuning. Which is understandable since it’s WIP! I think the jog looks amazing until you run downhill or uphill, then it kinda looks like he’s marching angrily. The up trick animation is kinda boring and his arms look kinda noodly when boosting
personally, while i see the vision, this isnt really my cup of tea.
i think some of the combat animations are weirder with less force in them (or just some weird posing in general)
great idea, but i dont see any improvements here. no downgrades either.
While some animations are great, I would keep some of the original ones here and there.
Some part are good and some not i dont like his jump personnaly and prefer the way he rides rails compared to the originals
