I hope you realize that it was actually a parody of the right wing straw man of socialism wanting total equality. Did you notice what Bergeron did when he rebelled and took off his handicaps? He makes himself emperor. Vonnegutt was a socialist.
@@rugbyguy59 Yes, Bergeron the evil right wing parody took absolute power from an absurdly frail social structure as soon as he got the chance. What did Stalin do with Trotski's invitation to Lenin's funeral? Socialism is science fiction. It will be cooperative capitalism what takes us to the next level of societal organization. The left will call it "democratic socialism" but it will be private profit motive that funds UBI, commonwealth funds and renewable energy for the purpose of sustaining consumption in a post-labor world.
@Stroggoii Yes, the right wing character is parodied as well. But the primary parody is the Cold War propaganda view of equality to hide the real ideas of socialism. Perhaps it will be cooperative capitalism but the profit motive will have to be directed to the areas of society’s needs not pure private interests. There are a variety of issues with the theory. But if you can fulfill the needed goals of allowing all people to live a decent standard of life while keeping the total economy within the natural limits of the planet (something capitalism has so far completely failed at) then I’ll support it. Frankly it sounds close to market socialism which might provide what is needed through democratizing the economy. Personally I think we need a wide range of methods... and it’s needed quickly. The market is currently failing to address a great many issues as it is. Stalin likely didn’t do anything with Trotsky’s invite. He did claim years later to have tricked Trotsky but the evidence just as easily supports other reasons such as Trotsky’s own arrogance. Not sure what that point was about other than whataboutism I guess. So when are you starting your cooperative capitalism movement. Well some people aren’t quite as brilliant as you all are so maybe this is the first time they heard that, or the first time it actually sinks in. What I was hoping for was a friendly discussion.
Equality of opportunity provides in a sense that all start the race of life at the same time. Equality of outcome attempts to ensure that everyone finishes at the same time. People get what they earn by hard work, if everyone finishes at the same time, why bother working hard? Everyone would be incompetent.

The idea that "fair play is devilish" is devilish. Fair play with provisions is the best system we have at the moment
I do believe that in majority the equality modern western society is trying to achieve is in means of accessibility for all; that no one is restricted from receiving fair treatment and life rather than becoming equal in all facets of life to the point of the extermination of individuality. If anything it is trying to create a space to express your indivuality without being oppressed for it.
That’s what it’s touted as. Racial quotas, for instance, are not “fair and equal access”. A political system in which 2 parties have made it impossible for any others to have any real chance is not “fair and equal access”, and now one of those parties is openly expressing a desire and intent to make it a 1 party system. It’s the same old shit in some shiny new packaging. Religions, communism, etc.. “We will solve all your problems and make life better for you all! All we need is your blind, unquestioning allegiance!”
Thats the theory, but in practice its not whats happening. Our society is promoting equality of outcome instead of equality of opportunity. Things are a lot worse than you think
That was one of the bester UA-cam videos I've ever seen. So important for the future, our future. "You're an exceptional person, you deserve to be punished."
I spent 7 years of my life in the Tennessee State prison system and I can tell you that's the end result of "let's make everyone equal". Everyone was pretty much in the same clothes, had the same possessions, same manner of housing, ate the same food, got paid about the same amount of money from jobs that ranged from busywork to brutal (the pay was .17 and hour up to .54 an hour). The only way to "get ahead" was through illegal activities or violence, and the people running the show (the guards can be stand ins for government) got to do pretty much whatever they liked and were paid much more. It's not a perfect 1:1 but it's close.
Went through the same in Texas. Only difference was we didn't get paid anything for our labor. The guards were mostly from Nigeria and were paid very little. We were treated like absolute garbage regardless of race, sexual orientation, etc. You couldn't go to the bathroom without asking permission. If the guards were in a bad mood, they could punish you through commissary restrictions. No air conditioning or heaters during the Winter or brutal Texas Summer heat. I very much agree with your point.
To think there is an demographic of woke marxists that want this to be the human experience for the billions while themselves thinking they would be living in luxury as the party elite.
the people who want everyone to be equal have never experienced the reward of being better and out competing another. they are weak and belong in the soil
No one who talks about equality is saying we all have the same capabilities. Equality is about creating an environment where anyone can reach their best potential. The system atmo favours the people whove come from certain sectors of society, which isn't based on ability.
@David Hamilton you obviously haven't researched this. All top fields of society, politics, media, law all come from certain sectors of society. Even politicians say social mobility has stagnated. Poor people cant pay to go to private schools. Are prisons are filled with people from council estates. Youd have to be naive to believe the uk is a meritocracy.
I hope you know equal opportunity is fictional. A black man and a white man open a business, they get the same loan, get the business ready at the same time, share the same open hours. The customers prefer the white business just because it is run by a white man, the black man loses money and goes bankrupt. There is NOTHING you can do about this sort of inequality, not now, not ever. People's biases and how they act on them can only be managed to an extent, there are innumerable instances where this exact concept applies, looks, gender etc. Equality of opportunity is as deluded as equality of outcome.
The video didn’t state that advocates of equality claim we’re all equal. It is talking about people who push for equality, or as is more fashionable “equity”. The most charitable characterization of each side is that equity proponents believe more opportunities need to be given to the disadvantaged, and their opponents believe that inequity is somewhat natural and more extreme measures to enforce equity will do more harm than good. Not everyone deserves such a charitable description though. There are clearly people who instinctively seek to tear down high-achievers to make themselves feel better, and others who think that the less fortunate are almost wholly to blame for their own suffering.
There's a huge floor in all. Different sex's doesn't mean no equality. Different strengths isn't a difference in equality. Being intelligent or not isn't non equality. Equality is equal treatment and opportunity, not characteristics. Clearly we have more of a problem with some, in what equality actually is.
I agree. You have no idea between equality as a theory and equality as applied. Equality as applied is always discriminatory, and equality in theory is an ideal never achieved.
It's equality of opportunity vs equality of outcome. There should be some of the latter (just so that people don't starve if they can't adapt to the system), but the former is a better principle for society in general. And yes, it doesn't deny excellence or freedom in any way.
Equality of opportunity is not the same as total equality.. and if you look around, most stable social democracies are not striving for ‘total’ equality.. but simply an eradication of discrimination that stops people from getting on with their lives
"...simply an eradication of discrimination..." Not really. Politicians cultivate and feed various victim groups in order to harvest votes and increase their power. They couldn't give a fuck less about eradicating discrimination because they are ardent practitioners of bigotry themselves-the belief that they are the rulers and we are the ruled. People should be free to discriminate however they choose. I'm not saying people should be free to hurt anyone without consequence, just that discrimination is a thought process, and no one has any business policing anyone else's thoughts. The over-emphasis on ending discrimination is the thing that ends up keeping people from getting on with their lives because they're being told they can't get or do what they want because of discrimination. So instead of acting in spite of any real or imagined discrimination, they focus on the discrimination. This is very disempowering and victim-minded and exactly where those in power want them to stay.
@@bobleglob162 ‘people should be free to discriminate however the choose’.. so basically in your opinion it’s ok to openly discriminate others based on their gender, age, skin colour, sexuality, religion.. and by doing so potentially affect their ability to access public services, employment, housing, healthcare.. But "the eradication of discrimination," should not be understood as controlling what people think. If you think in racist terms, then you ought to be free to think in racist terms. I think people are too eager to be justice warriors that we don't stop to think how our actions have consequences that would eventually result in more, undesired problems. It is the result of thinking with your heart and not your head. Okay, so you've coerced everyone into not being a racist by force (laws). No can even have racist thoughts. What's next? Good video. For those who like "animal farm" I recommend "animal riot" by Kostamarov. Although literature has given us great dystopias (We, Brave new world, The tragedy of man) and incredible visions of the horror of utopias and nihilism (Notes from undeground, Demons, The seven madmen), reality always surpasses fiction and who knows what the future that awaits us will be like.
Animal Farm was a metaphor for the comunism versus capitalism systems ... both are deeply flaud and both have good parts in them... but there are always the people those who will decide how well a system will work and the rise or the fall of a system, by their intelligence or stupidity in understanding what is valuable in life, no matter what system they are into.
Immanent equality, when transformed into an act, naturally shows the differences. The equality of external conditions to the potential of each individual is fair because it creates the trusts so that the immanent trusts are placed on the same level to develop. This is quite different from forcefully imposing a lower measure on everyone.
But those conditions are perhaps in part a product of those natural inequalities of the individual. And separating the two as if any imbalance of material circumstance were an expression of a flawed system might simply lead to levelling individual expression. But I presume that’s the aim. You can say that material prosperity of birth can’t be the result of that individual’s self-expression (rather their parents/ guardians), but who are we to divert the fruits of that material prosperity elsewhere, and to whom do we allocate it and under what justification? Although extreme nepotism can promote decadence and complacency in the silver-spooned, it’s a flawed attempt to constrain resources towards those whose traits better enable them to maximise its utility. At least the prevailing assumption is that if the parents had desirable traits (such as virtue, IQ, wisdom, etc.) then it’s reasonable that the children will inherit these traits and be suitably equipped to productively use (and perhaps even multiply) their parents’ resources. Nepotism doesn’t seem to work well in practice of course, but the problem here is the heritability of certain desirable traits, not the distribution of material prosperity among those whose self-expression of their traits (presumably virtuous) bore it through their labour. So the question should be: what are the set of traits which better enable someone to independently acquire resources and to use them wisely and productively? And when we can identify such individuals, at birth or in childhood, we now have a model for the allocation of resources: be them educational, financial, or whatever. Until then, attacking the relative privileges and advantages of some does nothing to solve the actual problem, which is that those who are deserving occasionally miss out on opportunities which they’d have otherwise put to good use. The questions we then must ask are: who are the deserving, and how do we compensate for their disadvantage?

It’s sad to see people so easily just adopt viewpoints so easily when it’s presented in a manner that seems correct. The video essentially lays out a dystopian worst case scenario type of thing where people reach some sort of absolute equality and extrapolates from there. But this idea that modern societies are moving to a state of absolute equality just isn’t true and it is in fact impossible. Modern societies are trying to develop equal opportunity and accessibility to the masses. What is done with this opportunity is up to the individual and the life’s circumstances. If you make sense of the time in history we are now, you can see that we are beginning to understand the importance and societal benefits of this concept and it is what is driving this shift. But the outlandish belief that the world is slowly descending into total equality and the individual will no longer exist is simply an idea based on a false pretense. And more importantly, it is an idea, that will be used in modern society, as a tool to impede the improvements that equal opportunity provides. Essentially, this misalignment of what is actually occurring will develop beliefs that will push people to mistakenly attempt to move society backwards. But all in all, the attempts to fix modern society’s push to “total equality” will fail particularly because the actual push is to a state of equal opportunity.
Equality is but one tool we are using to destroy the individual identity. The obligation to a have career and sex-shame are two other tools our modern society are using to destroy our identity. Have you noticed the aimlessness of life these days?

If your "diverse" opinion is, for example an unfounded and provably false claim, such as "x race of homo sapien is inferior to x race" or "homosexuality is unnatural" then maybe its not totalitarian to not lend a platform to it. Not lending a platform to it is also not the same as suppression by force. Maybe such "diversity" should not be tolerated, not only because it is false, but because its premise presupposes the oppression/suppression of immutable traits, they can and have been used to crush free expression of those in a collective society. In a way it can be a lot easier and more comforting to believe in nonsense. Here's where it gets interesting. What do you believe about truth? When something is understood to be a stable theory and have a general concensus amongst the scientific community like climate change, the effects of pollution, homosexuality, the lack of difference between races, its hard to agree for the people that deny robust theories backed by enormous and repeatable evidence that these are even "opinions" anymore. Sure people hold these false beliefs for whatever reasons. You're entitled to opinions and a free society should never deny you that, but you are not entitled to your own "alternative facts". TONS of people wanted to believe all sorts of nonsense during this pandemic and ended up paying with their lives for it. So this misinformation was literally killing people, sure they choose not to become vaccinated, they choose to go to the store even knowing they tested positive, these are all exercises of freedom in an individual sense, but many got themselves and others hurt or killed. Whether they believed vaccines were harmful, or they didn't even think there was a virus, it didn't change that there WAS a virus nor did it change the effectiveness of preparing your immune system for coming in contact with it. Same with climate, you can choose to have the opinion that its not real, that a God is in control of the world, and that man has no impact on Earth's balance but it doesn't change the fact that taking billions of tons of fossilized Flora and Fauna out of the ground and burning it will inevitably start to mess with the delicate balance that much of life depends on. Or even more human wise, that one race being superior to another when in fact we are the same animal. This kind of opinion can drive people to strive for power and control over one another. To suppress/oppress other groups of humans based on provably false beliefs that can be literally demonstrated to be based on lousy or completely made up observations. To allow it seems like it generally takes away from freedom. 1 in 10 children died before their first birthday of preventable disease before mass immunization efforts thats just true, opinions don't change the nature of reality. What good is freedom for the individual if your opinion (which was influenced by false beliefs) got you killed? What good is freedom for the individual, if biodiversity (possible medicines, food, materials.) is diminished? Where people die early from toxic air and water, or from worsening weather events, or from a climate not safe to be outside (equatorial regions). What good is freedom for the individual if racist fascists hold power and start executing or enslaving all non Arayans?

@@BreathlessOblivion08 i would guess that the reason for wanting more equality but actually supporting inequality, which leftists supposedly do, would be that we lack morals since we abandoned religion, which i find even less convincing, since morals had to predate religion bc otherwise religion wouldnt have such pretty simmilar universal morals(across faiths)(which btw most modern belivers have abandoned eg extrme partiarcy)(and when the morals of the religions are less similar i have to ask what moralt to follow)

What you would suggest is to make it so that the person with legs has them chopped off to “play fairly.” Life isn’t fair, nor should it be. The point of life is to acknowledge this and make the most out of it.

Now OF COURSE a pro player is going to be better than any average Joe. A much better example of a unfair playing field instead of your ridiculous ideas is when a wealthy man commits a crime and gets away with it as compared to when a poor man commits the same exact crime and gets punished for it. The same rules don't apply to the rich as they do for the poor. Yeah ON PAPER they may be the same but in real life it isn't. @@swishersweets727 but if you acknowledge that redistribution of wealth would be good for those 50 year we sould still do it. also: communism doesnt mean redistribution of wealth but ownership of the means of production(eg factories, farms etc) by the people/workers who work there. they would govern them democratically. you could amass private wealth(eg a nice car, as long as you dont let someone else work using it to generate wealth)under communism, you could however not use that capital to buy a firm(thereby limiting the workers/peoples power over it).
Equality does not mean that every person is the same as every other person. It means that we should all be valued equally despite our differences. It is wonderful that there are so many differences in the human race. That is one of our strengths because as our circumstances change, different people have strengths that can be helpful. With climate change, we need scientists and business people who can see the advantages of moving to renewables. Facing Covid, we need the strengths of our medical people. Raising the next generation of children, we need the hard work of teachers and the insights of psychologists. In situations at work, we may value the work ethic of some people and the sense of fun of other people and the leadership of others. The color of people's skin is not important. The varying cultures are interesting but don't prevent us from relating to people. But we can always rely on the variety among the human race to help us navigate whatever fate throws at us.
Yes, we should all be valued in our differences. That exactly is the point of this video. To warn us what happens if we are forced to be all equal in everything, and are told that’s a good thing, and differences and individuality become something that is a bad thing.

@@noahvaldez9730 I hope you're not confusing equity with equality. Equity is a process and equality is an outcome of that process. Personally, I believe the way to achieve equity is by treating everyone equitably, or justly, according to their circumstances. We may never achieve perfection just as no human will ever be perfect, but it is an ideal we nonetheless should strive for. The point isnt that technology is bad, but rather the people who are born with these comforts take them for granted. Because of this they become ego driven and self righteous, after all, they dont have to struggle or "hustle" to survive like 400 years ago. You can clearly see this in first world nations, when people reach such a high level of comfort, their lives become dull and boring so they begin to complain about vapid nonsense to pat themselves in the back about how righteous and morally superior they are. ie: wokism.
@@bdlblob I know plenty of unwoke folk who bitch all the time. However, what real is their - reject technology and return to a time when people were lucky to make it past forty? First off, believing Hobbes and his theories isn't exactly the best way to delve into deeper philosophy. His concept of human nature is shoddy at best, and was disproved by both Locke and Rousseau, plus any examination of anthropology, especially primatology. Second, anthropology and history also disprove your ethnocentrism towards the modern technological milieu. Humans have always lived into their 70s. However, only now are cancers and lifestyle diseases a problem, and only now are mental health issues at such a high mark, and only now are man-made creations capable of wiping out the entire species, and only now is the biggest killer of humanity each year things that are necessary to survive (car accidents). Life is as dangerous and unfulfilling now as it has ever been. Freedom is restricted by every measure compared to 100 years ago, and suicide is at a tremendously high rate. You may get to avoid all illness and prolong your life, but is it really worth it? This mode of thinking is a prime example of Nietzsche's Last Men. Sacrificing all greatness for comfort. At this point, you're sacrificing happiness as well.
@@andrewbowen2837 You need to brush up on your philosophy. Locke's state of "War" is almost identical to Hobbes' state of nature. Also, go to any professor of Political Philosophy and they will inform you that Locke is considered the hack and not Hobbes. A very good point. God forbid we should have equality of health care, free education, and a pension in our old age. Equality in food shelter and clothing. Oh the horror. If everyone had their needs met how could we feel superior to everyone else? All we would have left to do is get along with each other and enjoy life. For the bent and insecure among us this would be a bridge too far. Such people prefer to worry about whom will steal their cheese.
Wealth inequality is irrelevant. The most inequal country in the world is actually the Netherlands where the heiress to the East India Company and plenty reserved aristocrats live among an average population that's rich by world standards. Income inequality needs to be addressed not by taking away the wealth of the superlative, but by eliminating mindless labor and forcing more people into real value production by deregulating entrepreneurship and subsidizing self-employment. People like Musk and Bezos don't own billions of instances of labor units, that's not what post-fiat money is. They own bonds of trust in the loan shark market, items that are in themselves worthless and lose value when sold. You too could have owned these bonds if you had spared a couple beers back when Amazon shares were worth $20. The 3% wealthiest have also contributed, on average, $2.7T of the $3.5T yearly revenue this running century. If you don't see it reflected in social programs and infrastructure it's time to start asking the first-gen millionaires in Washington where that money is instead of clapping at them like trained seals when they talk about stealing even more from "the rich". @@CodeeXD that isn't it at all. I'm quite left-leaning in my views, but in my opinion we still need some kind of free market, albeit one that allows people to have varying degrees of wealth based on the work they put in, and one that provides safety nets and welfare to those who *need* it. Nobody is talking about making everybody a clone, or someone that should be exactly the same as everyone else. We're talking about equality of opportunity, welfare, and experiences, not about creating a homogenous society. Where would be the importance, or the benefit, in that?
@@chillipowder0169 Perhaps you're familiar with whom actually have the best idea for a free market: Anarcho-syndicalists. Free markets and trade, but no one gets to hold power over people by owning the means of production. Because the idea of someone being able to own a factory, or a store-chain for example is purely insane. How can one single-handedly own something that cannot function without the co-operation of hundreds of people?
I think the use of the term "equality" without some qualifying statement can be interpreted in many ways. Equality can mean one vote for every person to one individual and another will say that one vote is too much for some and not enough for others. Both propose "equality". The problem of Equality is that one has to assume they know what everybody needs to live the same quality of life. No person possibly could accomplish that.
The "brand of equality" you're talking about is equity. Equality of opportunity (equity) is good for everyone. Equality of outcome (totalitarianism) is what the video is about.
This makes me think of the internet or NFTs. Everyone gets to feel great about creating some 'content', but nobody is actually doing all that much in the physical world. Occasionally somebody gets off their computer, goes insane and becomes a terrorist. Interesting world we live in, eh?
we get to share ideas, knowledge much easier, and that's a good thing. those who don't have a thirst of knowledge must live fairly bleak and meaningless lives.
It is hard. One of my best friends would talk with me about stuff like this, and the effects on society. He would get really depressed after we discussed topics like this, and I think it darkened his world view. He ended up commiting suicide in early 2019, so at least he never got to see his worst fears of society happen during these past two years.
I think about this all the time! Everytime I talk to someone about this, however, they tune me out or have nothing to contribute, or are not willing to engage in a debate. So I just keep these thoughts to myself. They are not helpful to have in a society/system that is designed to keep you constantly running, constantly entertained, constantly chasing the carrot ahead of you, dangling from a stick. Some have accepted that as the reality in which they are expected to operate, albeit reluctantly, and others actually like it. I fit into neither camp. I think human life can be more. I think human life can be true. I think human life doesn't have t revolve around materialism, or power, or anything of the sort. I think such things as power should be something which is earned by the meritorious, not an object to be won by anybody. I admit I am not fit to lead, and therefore that power does not correspond to me. We need that responsibility of thought in people. For people to know their limits. Society needs balance. Nothing more. What contributes to balance, harmony, and stability at the micro and macro level, that is objective truth.
While many may think of political and governmental agents when considering the onset of equality, it is very important to note that in our post - industrial liberal democratic societies, technological powers may actually play a bigger role. This was something that Ernst Junger noted frequently. He remarked how technology had a sort of leveling effect, in that it sort of equalizes all social classes. This is because technology offers a common denominator that people have to play by. As technology becomes more accessible, the poor and the rich must use the same network, the same phone companies, and they post on the same social media platforms. The potential of technology cannot be underestimated. It was the power of technology to spread quickly that to many households, giving birth to so called mass politics. Through the newspaper, then the radio then the television. And this has helped many societies become equal, at the cost of culture and art, for to make all things the same, uniqueness is sacrificed. Now combined with neoliberalism, farmers from third world countries are working in these monotone office buildings just as their first world counterparts. Today, if you were to go to Japan for example, or other “Westernized” Asian countries, the architecture, fashion and overall culture has been leveled out and thus very similar to their North American counterpart. The unique culture of countries across the world has been leveled out, thanks to technology, and the unrestricted spread of capital.
@@KoheiNonGrata I'm not sure who to be honest. Very interesting thoughts. I'd like to pose an objective question. You've discussed the violent aspects of "equality", but what do you think about the violent aspects of "inequality"? Are both as binary as we are arguing nowadays, or is, there a possibility of an organically derived middle ground? Edit: How can we we argue for "natural inequality" in a system defined by "artificial inequality"? If the variables in the context are mixed up, the calculations will be skewed from the start, so the answer is always questionable.
Inequality is more of a scale and even then it needs categorisation. Two people are unequal but in what way and by how much. Violence can come from seeing that inequality in sufficient disparity driven by basic needs and psychology. Given that genetic mutation and other variances are all natural, perhaps inequality is natural and equality is the supplicant that doesn't hold up.
Equity: equality of outcome is driven by revenge (often cloaked in kindness, especially today). From that aim come ideas about levelling the playing field, positive discrimination and other ideas fundamental to (democratic or not) socialism. Equality of opportunity is not revenge driven. It is linked with the ideas of personal responsibility instead.
@@Barklord People are individuals with personal aims, responsibilities and as you say 'incentives'. Some individual carpenters buy and sell property some don't care one way or the other - until wound up by envious socialists who see them as a group.
@@Barklord Market's don't reward merit or virtue because the former is insignificant in the face of the final results, and the latter doesn't exist. Markets reward value, and value is a subjective variable that is decided on an individual basis. The picture of your mom on your desk is far more valuable to you than me. What you are propagating is the obsolete economic theorem known as The Labor Theory of Value, which was started by Karl Marx; a philosopher who purposefully avoided educating himself on economic processes, because he saw fields that required empirical proof as "bourgeoise propaganda", due to the aforementioned proof inevitably contradicting his wild assertions. Marx believed that merit produced income, and that there was a surplus of value being taken in any transaction. As I said, the man wasn't an economist and his beliefs are still laughed at today whenever a couple of economists are drunk and need to point fingers and tease somebody (I guess Marx receives equal treatment in both life and death lol). By Marx's logic, a man could waste his day away digging a hole in his backyard in searing heat, then make a claim to millions because he "worked hard"; even though him digging that hole produced nothing of value. But that's not how things work, because no one gives a fuck about how hard you work; it's about the value you produced that someone, somewhere out there, is willing to pay for. If I walk up to you and say "I just worked 12 hours" and demand payment you're going to look at me like wtf? But if I walk up to you with a hyper-advanced phone I designed and demand payment, you'll be more likely to converse over the transaction because you see *VALUE* that compels you to go through with it; *REGARDLESS* of how hard I worked to produce that value. Hell, I could have been drunk with one hand masturbating when I made the phone and it literally does not matter; the point is that the value exists and you are willing to trade for it.
@@Barklord Nothing you said empirically disproves my statements lol, you are just reiterating your initial posits from your OP; which I already debunked in mine. Hence, I'll just focus on your analogy. As I said, value is a subjective variable decided on an individual basis. The reason the sex worker gets more money from the rich guy is because the handjob is more valuable to him in relation to the cost, hence he sees it fit to pay more. In the eyes of the rich man, the sex worker creates more value than she does in the eyes of the poor man, hence why the poor man is unwilling to transact. And yes, I did create more value if I sell my stadium/football club for $700M, hence why the transaction happened in the first place; why would someone spend $700M on something they don't see equivalent value in. In the eyes of the buyer, the value created by the stadium is indeed worth $700M, hence why he goes along with the transaction in the first place. If he saw less value than the cost, he would not transact. It really is quite simply mate lol. Also, it depends on what you mean by meritocracy. Capitalism isn't a meritocracy if one defines merit by effort, because no one gives a fuck about that kind of merit; participation trophies are for losers and children. Capitalism *IS,* however, a meritocracy if one defines merit by results. It's just that the majority of average joe's have no "results" to offer except flipping burgers and packing groceries, so instead they seethe at the system in a powerless anger until they die just as insignificantly as they've always lived. And so the tale goes.
@@Barklord People who sell homes have higher incomes for two primary reasons: the first is that the carpenters typically have more consistent incomes, without dips when the market tanks, because people will always need repairs and maintenance; while realtors rely entirely on the market. The second reason is convenience. This comes in many forms, including that many people don't have the time or lack the patience to wait for a new house to be built. So you can charge more for a completed structure than it cost to build the thing. Additionally, once a house has been built on a piece of land, you can't build a new house without tearing that one down. So with zoning and other laws making it difficult to just plop down a house, and needing to be close to transport and utilities, people will prefer to buy an existing home if they can. All of this, and more, explains the difference in income between carpenters and realtors.
Life was never fair or equal. Life was never designed to be the utopia that some envision. The truth is that some people are simply worth more than others. And I think that at in the depths of every person's soul, we all know this, even if many of us don't want to accept it.
@Bushman963 "equality under the law" coupled with "freedom to pursue happiness" gives the individual the best environment for success, but it is up to the individual to create that success. communism is one of the worst government systems and leads to extreme suffering and mass death. the individual can not thrive under communist rule.

@@TVYL3IGH That's not socialism -- that's simply a democracy with voters who agree a lot. Socialism is government ownership of the means of production -- this is a well-known standard definition in political science. The "Norway-type" system you describe is the fortunate result of having a small population, in a small area, with a common culture, ethnicity, values, religion/philosophy -- basically, very little to fight over. It's rather similar to the natural tribal structure which we evolved in for a million years, and is what a "nation" originally meant. As Thor said in the movies, Asgard is not a place, it is a people. Here in the US, we have a very UNnatural system due to the US actually being an empire, rather than a nation. We are dozens of "Norways", each different in many ways from the others, but all forced to mingle under a central power. We fight over everything, because we have almost nothing in common, and nearly every policy is a contrivance for one subject nation to steal from or bully another, with the imperial authority (now largely a corporate puppet) taking a cut of any profit that may result. Americans hate socialism because it would increase the power of the central authority, allowing even more theft from and abuse of the subject nations which are not popular with the central decision-makers. The Americans who talk about breaking the US up into smaller, independent units (typically based on culture) are actually attempting to move toward a more Norway-like model, where policies are made BY a people FOR a people, with extensive agreement and mutually-beneficial cooperation among similar minds. This is not widely known, because our socialist elements perpetuate the lie that well-functioning places like Norway are socialist, when they are not.

Equality does not mean all of us has to be equal or the same in every way. It does not mean we should be the same in terms of looks, intelligence, skill or personilality. Equality means having the basic rights no matter what your gender, your race, religion, whether you're rich or poor. The right to live, the right to quality education, the right for security like food, clean water or a house. Equality when it comes to our laws.
"equality under the law" coupled with "freedom to pursue happiness" gives the individual the best environment for success, but it is up to the individual to create that success.
also you can't claim a right to even those basic needs as they require the work of others and unless you support slavery, those people can't be forced to work to provide you with those basic needs. you should, however, have the right to pursue fulfilling those needs yourself or the right to free trade to acquire those needs. you do not have the right to, say, forcing someone to build a house for you and give it to you because that's your right.

@@rugbyguy59 Yes, Bergeron the evil right wing parody took absolute power from an absurdly frail social structure as soon as he got the chance.

Equality of opportunity provides in a sense that all start the race of life at the same time. Equality of outcome attempts to ensure that everyone finishes at the same time.
People get what they earn by hard work, if everyone finishes at the same time, why bother working hard? Everyone would be incompetent.
To get equality of opportunity you do have to fiddle with things in society that will also create equality of outcome.

-There have been attempts at such social engineering, all brutal and macabre.
The idea that "fair play is devilish" is devilish. Fair play with provisions is the best system we have at the moment
@@infinitydreamzz what provisions?

You haven't been paying much attention then
That was one of the bester UA-cam videos I've ever seen.
Prison is very much a good representation of a small-scale Communist state.
To think there is an demographic of woke marxists that want this to be the human experience for the billions while themselves thinking they would be living in luxury as the party elite.
hey were the guards equal, or the cops who arrested you?
the people who want everyone to be equal have never experienced the reward of being better and out competing another. they are weak and belong in the soil
The system is fascism, not capitalism.
@@frankjennings4489 Equity is the deliberate destruction of individual achievement and the independent mind. Its death-worship, not hedonism.
There's a huge floor in all. Different sex's doesn't mean no equality. Different strengths isn't a difference in equality. Being intelligent or not isn't non equality.

Although literature has given us great dystopias (We, Brave new world, The tragedy of man) and incredible visions of the horror of utopias and nihilism (Notes from undeground, Demons, The seven madmen), reality always surpasses fiction and who knows what the future that awaits us will be like.
We probably won’t be here to see it but I reckon enslavement to the highest power because we too are also enslaved to a system we think we love.
It used to be called Facebook. Now it's called META. Thanks for the reading was a couple I haven't read!
There will be a lot of plastic
The reality and reliability of the bible is where its at.

Too bad the people pushing progress don't see it that way
Equality is but one tool we are using to destroy the individual identity. The obligation to a have career and sex-shame are two other tools our modern society are using to destroy our identity.

So ridiculing capitalism to extremes is where every citizen eventually becomes a billionaire, starts their own space company, discovers their own new planet to become a king on, pays to have their conscience transferred into an Android then lives forever?

“It’s a strange paradox, that the liberals are illiberal in their demand for liberality. They are exclusive in their demand for inclusivity. They are homogenous in their demand for heterogeneity. They are somehow un-diverse in their call for diversity - you can be diverse, but not diverse in your opinions and in your language and in your behaviour. And that’s a terrible pity." - Stephen Fry
Amazing.
In other words, such opinions have no place in a society. Is it really so radical to suggest you don't have the right to harm others with your personal bullshit?
If people collectively and democratically shut you down because your premise impedes on diversity and inclusion. It may not seem diverse because most are in agreement, but in my example, their (the person being shut down, canceled, whatever you want to call it) premise would be anti diverse in a way. Sure its different from the majority opinion, so by that definition sure its "diverse" but it is touted to promote the exclusion and denial of the rights and existence of other people. But again being deplatformed and actually not having the rights to say something are two different issues. Just because you should have the right to say whatever you want doesn't exactly mean you should be able to project through a microphone

Should we even let them have the platform to stand on, to recruit, to convince, to echo to each other? I guess echo chambers are a different discussion on screen-time based algorithms and ad revenue and what not but still. Am I really oppressing them or am I stopping them from spreading their ideology of oppression to others?
@@kylekns8924 The more we spend time interacting with algorithms that keep showing us what we already want to see, the more radicalized one can be to potentially freedom limiting ideologies. I don't believe its possible to argue anymore that there is a free marketplace of ideas and that the good ideas beat out the bad just by nature of the "goodness" or the "effectiveness" (competitive advantage) of ideas.

Thank you - thank Nietzsche, for making the link between equality and revenge obvious.
Thank you for contemplating and sharing your ideas with us.
Bravo bravo bravo. Amazing content.

The word 'democratic' only gives more space for the tarantulas of socialism to weave their sticky webs.
@@hannannah1uk If you interpreted the Tarantula chapter of Thus Spoke Zarathustra to refer to socialism then you have gravely missed the point and I believe your mind is beyond hope
@@hannannah1uk The tarantula part of the video wasn't about socialism. Also, MANY democratic nations of socialist. What about Europe?
Finland, Norway, Iceland, Germany, Netherlands... many of these countries have SOCIALIZED medicine and deep-rooted socialist systems like pension. If you knew this you'd know that socialism =/= fascism.
Socialism in simple terms is all of a nation's citizens paying into one pool of money-- which is then allocated by elected democratic officials to different programs for SOCIAL benefit. That can be anything, but in principle it is a government that is "for the people, by the people" without being Communist like the USSR or anarcho-Capitalist like the USA. Norway, for example, is still an extremely overpriced and capitalist society despite being a socialist nation. Much freer than America as well, with things like mandatory PAID year-long maternity/paternity leave for both parents when you have a child. Free healthcare, free education, the list goes on... You can argue that this system is too similar to communism, but it really isn't. These countries function better than any place on the planet. Research will prove anything I've said so far.

This has never been what equality means. It simple means that everyone is deserving to be governed by the same laws, and equally deserving of dignity.
And yet when we achieved equal laws the "disadvantaged" demanded reparations. They got reparations, affirmative action, exclusive societal support and now they demand the "privileged" be punished for the "sins" of their ancestors.
Resentment is unquenchable.
Stroggoii equal laws is not even a complete reality yet and having equal laws doesn’t mean everyone suddenly sees disadvantaged people as equal, there’s still so much social stigma to unlearn. It’s not like all issues just resolved the moment disadvantaged people finally got some legal rights. That’s why reparations and societal support exists, without it those laws mean nothing. Recognising your privilege just means realising you don’t have to deal with all of these set backs and stigma.
@@El-iw6xn There is no such thing as privilege, there is only systemic corruption and no, it doesn't support disadvantaged people just because they happen to have white skin and a penis like the majority of the corrupt.

Stroggoii as i said the improvements have not met total equality, there is still a LOT to be done. Absolutely no one wants white/straight/male/able bodied people to have less opportunity, can you really not handle the spotlight being off you for even a moment without assuming equal representation/rights/resources for other people means less for you? Have you got any evidence at all that this actually a thing people want apart from misunderstanding what privilege means?
Stroggoii and what reason would disadvantaged people have for giving you less and themselves more? Actually what would be the reason? Do you think they want their “revenge” and have themselves at the top after being at the bottom for so long? That’s insane no one is out to get you. What would actually be disadvantaged peoples reasoning or drive to give you “less”?

Equality of outcomes and abilities is based in pure jealousy and insecurity. Secure people are so busy improving themselves and ensuring they are doing their best that they don't have time to pay attention to who might be better than them. They, then, become the best of the best, while those who've been crying about how unfair it is have done zero to improve themselves and everything to bring the other down.
