I know us too. We still have daffodils and more tulips to move from our old house to put in this bed. We have about 30 oriental lilies to move also.
One of the best tips I can share with anybody is to keep a bit of Miracid (now Miracle Gro Azalea, Rhodedendron, etc) on hand.
I'm far more fond of organic gardening whenever possible...but, after 2-4"+ rain in a week, a quick dose of Miracid (especially amended with a touch of bloodmeal or water soluable calcium to round things out if need be) will quickly turn around PH issues and feed the plant until the soil works itself out again.
Great idea. When you get that much rain you need to replenish the soil.
