@@B47ANCE144 Humor is subjective my man. But if you're actually curious, he had a successful podcast with a comedian named Yannis Pappis that blew both of them up to some degree.
Yeah. I stayed in a long line after the concert for an artist that I had great respect for since he invited people to stick around and get photos. Well, apparently I was naive and thought it was just that the line went past the merch table. When i told the merch sellers no thanks to the apparel and posters they said, "No actually, that's not how this works. You have to buy something for the pic" I guess my concert ticket, time in the line etc wasn't sufficient even though this was the artists first time touring.
When you have resellers and people monetizing their clips meeting the artist or planned gotchas you film when you meet the artist, non-registered meet and greets become less about the fans than scammers taking advantage of the artist's time after they've just spent hours doing a show or performance. I think registering for meet and greets early in pre-sale with offers extended to fan group participants would be ideal but thats more music artist fandom appropriate than a comedian's. I don't know many comedians that would even be the personality tyoe to want to do them much less monetize them. He said he wants celebrities to charge the ppl themselves at the moment you meet them. His quote was “yeah you can have a picture, that’ll be $20”. He’s all for meet and greets but says it’s wrong to charge fans to meet you and if you want to charge them then have the balls to do it personally. He said not a single celebrity would do it cuz then they would realize how big of a piece of shit they actually are.
The problem isn't how you feel about it, it's how the artist would feel, your fans already buy your music they already pay for tickets to gigs and support you and your music, and you are gonna stand there for any length of time and personally ask and take money from the hand of your fans just to meet you, I know it'd make me feel sick.
He’s saying charging people to charge fans to take a pic with you is a shitty move… It’s already enough that they came to the show and supported you.. Asking for more is taking advantage of them liking you as an artist… I respect it… once u are at a place in your career where people would pay for a meet and greet the money you make from tickets and merch should be more than enough… no need to pimp your fans for another 25 for a pic with you
It’s a tricky one. If you a multimillionaire and you charging then you perhaps shouldn’t but most artists are not all that well off financially and that extra £20/£50 from a meet and greet makes all the difference to their income.
no one should truly use ticketmaster. if the artist has their own buying page on their website, then i would gladly pay them the extra bucks knowing that they're being taken care of. the fees ticketmaster charges are both malicious to the customer and the artist.
