I see Chamath, I click
Basically, yhh...
we are all simple men
I double click
The Interviewer simply ruined it for me :
-Checking phone while Interviewing
-Weird laughs and actions
-Inappropriate sitting posture
-Unclear questions
And Chamath, as always, raw, real and awesome!
Wow so much respect for Chamath for tolerating that rude, unprofessional interviewer
I have listened to NUMEROUS Corporate Leaders (over the last 7 days) .....My FAVOURITE TWO are Jeff Bezos and Chamath. Chamath is very special for his HUMILITY, CANDOUR, RAZOR SHARP mind and the manner he articulates himself. Truly amazing. I wish him the VERY BEST FOR HIS TARGET 2045. I have absolutely NO DOUBT that the World is going to hear a LOT MORE of him. God Bless
Also, Naval Ravikant
That feeling when hearing "Born in Sri lanka"🥰🥰 so proud ❤❤
Somehow he just turned this interview into his personal therapy session lol. Not sure how, but he got deep into his personal life.
Such a transparent person
I agree about the interviewer but dont forget chamath hired and funded him. You and i are sitting somewhere watching this on youtube. Chamath is awesome.
I was in that crowd and met him post this conversation, such a privelage to discover and learn from his experiences
Came here to listen to my favorite modern day visionary and forced to endure the worst modern day interviewer. Chamath was still worth it.
I urge you, Waterloo. Never put that interviewer on the stand again. This interview could have been so much better without him.
Absolutely agree. I saw another clip of barely 1.55', and the interviewer looked at his phone twice. FFS, the guest you invited is speaking, taking the time from his life, and he can't even put his phone away for a bit? Utterly disappointed, and sorry for the guest.
So many unnecessary interruptions too
@@RajjjjjS he was probably looking at his notes for the interview not who’s texting him lol
he is ok. he was mostly quiet, luckily. he seems to think like a kid, and i am not really into kid mentalities. so, i would prefer a more advanced mentality to present Chamath.
who ever talked about the Interviewer probably dint get the message. Few of the things i learnt here....
1. Be open about learning from ( better ) ppl better.
2. The process of learning is worth all the risk.
3. There is work you can do on yourself to put yourself in a position to be excellent.
4. This work is Thankless. No one will see this but it is what makes you powerful.
5.You feel outta balance coz something that you value in life is outta wack. ( understand what u value )
7. When your'e outta balance, you feel inferior, you indulge in negative self talk, self doubt, you project this outwards onto your'e world view and everything around you.
8. When your'e outta balance, you feel stress, and stiffness in your body etc.. ......
9. Find your triggers and slow it down and get to work. you need to change something to get back that balance.
10. Finding that Balance is not everything, awareness is. Awareness is something you can actually work with.... it will give you a great start.... it will keep u going, there is always something new there....
11. Dont be an entrepreneur for the sake of it, there must be something that drives you, drives you enough to make u wanna effect that change. There is energy in it. That will guide you.
Greetings and blessings from sri Lanka. May the triple gem protect you both.
Chamath *thumbs up*, interviewer *thumbs down*

You’re just mad he made two grand

He seemed a little starstruck but... being fully self expressed and having fun next to Chamath versus tightening up isn’t easy
When as a person you did all the levels in the game.
Lolol! Nice
Not everyone is gifted with good decision making ability. And not everyones "gut instinct" is directing them in the right direction.
This isn't something you just have right off the bat. At least for most people. This is something that is tempered through experience and actually going for it. If everyone had excellent gut instinct and instinctually good decision making then we would have more billionaires and less miserable people
It's something you develop from your mistakes and learning from others from reading books to talking to more experience people.
His recommended book: Adult Children of Alcoholic
I was already on the path of tearing down walls and Chamath may have just taken me all the way.
Probably one of the best lectures on UA-cam
He talks, we listen.
38:30 the sunk cost fallacy is especially relevant here. Thanks to Chamath for putting it into context
Love from Bihar, India 💛
How do I mute the interviewer?
SWAPAN JAIN The Joe Rogan Experience would be the perfect platform for Chamath 🎯 #alphaiq
Andrew yang should be on jre as well. My favorite channel
Agreed, the "Freedom Dividend" would be a great topic of discussion.
Cmon man.
Pretty funny considering Chamath Palihapitiya's last talk at stanford had the best interviewer ever. These guys are obviously friends which makes it less cringey, but, if I were preparing for an interview with Palihapitiya, I would try and find a single digit number of questions that are really good and just let him talk. He's such a good speaker when the people interviewing him just let him rant.
Enjoyed this interview - although the interviewer is clearly very very young and the immaturity comes through every once in a while.
18:00 to do what he says: learn to meditate and become aware of mental habits and pay attention to feedback. Keep being aware and over time you can slowly chip away at those patterns!
I need to find out who Chamath's tailor is
Will never be a problem for me, I’m too fat and sticky to fit his style
That man's laugh goes straight to 5th gear.
Interesting thoughts!! Liked his way of thinking and his perception for life! Get to work and stop fearing failures!!!
Instead of focusing on the interviewer, why not take the time to listen to what these men have to say?
Who cares how the interviewer acts. Focus on learning something instead.
I'll focus on what I want to focus on. Can I live my best life dawg??
The interviewer is ruining the whole learning experience with his awful sounds.
I am happy for those of you in the US & Canada as he is an invaluable asset to your countries! Even though Chamath was born in sri lanka,we have not become lucky enough to have him here!
Move to Canada
This is comment is in understanding what the interviewer actually did for this interview. He made Chamath comfortable enough to deep dive into his life. I think its easy to get irritated because the interviewer has a very "child like" approach but I do think it added to Chamath's comfortability. I think the environment plays a huge part in what you end up talking about and somehow, someway this environment was perfect for the kind of reflection it provided for Chamath to talk about.
wow that lady at the end sat through the whole talk and didnt hear a word he said. I can't believe it seriously... and most people are like this.. such a shame
That's the majority of the population.
she's an idiot smh then tried to shame him for his success. what a loser
This interview is good as gold.
Dudes playing on his phone while speaking to a living legend who just told him to stop playing with his phone...
he was checking twitter questions from audience members
26:00 is a gem
The interviewer wasn’t terrible. He was just trying too hard.
let's make 2021 our record year. it is possible. sales vlog here hey hey!
The interviewer is brutal...hard to watch.
25:30. I heard him in another interview bring up the same point, which I agree with- that there’s a know-it-all culture in the U.S.
This is very Cool.
Thank You Chamath for being honest and authentic during this Interview. You are always a true inspiration for me !!!
U look like u will be on a prepetual hunt for inspiration
He is the walking epitome of an entrepreneur
Chamath is beautiful!
This guy is not a professional interviewer so give him break. But if you think the interviewer is bad here, wait until you see Chamath interviewed every time he goes on CNBC.
I see this dude talking and I listen lol also as a minority is great to see someone you can relate to and listen to the trajectory of his life.
love this man!
Love listening to this guy
clearly there's no audio engineering at this school because the audio sounds like shit.
you have found a vaccum
Yup was thinking exactly the same! that 615K down on that graphic eq plzzzzz
Whoever cheered at 22:50 mark, must be a very very happy person today.
Thanks!!!!!
Interviewer is way too nervous and shouting/laughing for no apparent reason
Listen to the interviewer's laugh at 2x speed
Chamath my man.
great discussion, thanks Dhananja and Chamath
Damn, Chamath was at Winamp? Cool. Remember those Winamp skins?
Of course. I used to switch skins all the time
Whips a lammas ass
Man I like him already. He is good
46:25 FACTS!!!!!
Chamath is incredible. DJ the interviewer is the opposite.
Listening to him is incredible. I would love to talk to him, maybe I could try to even help him. Like 'relasing it' this trauma
Please remove these jokers who interview Chamath! Chamath is best all by himself while he is expressing his thoughts!! A questionnaire would suffice!!!

Too much wisdom
A great thinker and investor interviewed by an obnoxious and clueless interviewer. I had to tune out the interviewer so much just to absorb the wisdom Chamath shared.
I care alot about me and mine.

Here's a suggestion...find a better interviewer. It's painful listening/watching to him trying to force a conversation.
Funny, you have a way of making us feel like we're important.

that intervwer man , holy fuck
This guy is all hot air. Most of the interview was about feelings and emotions and being balanced and all that driven puff piece fluff. Watch him on another chat, he's literally yelling "follow the effin money, who cares about your values. Only when you have money and power do your values matter." Then in this talk he's like, Oh I didn't want to just be a slave to money, I wanted to do what made me happy. All hot air. He's show business, thats all.
Don't be afraid to change. He said it😂

The interviewer is actually really really good. Great questions, doesn't interrupt, great followups.
No he’s not because he’s treating like a podcast where he has an equal voice which he doesn’t for both implied and flaunted reasons. There’s an audience dude. They didn’t come to hear you speak.
Don't get married. Even a man like Chamath can't keep a woman.
It's not about keeping a woman. Being single, has significant upsides, and downsides evident over the long run. And being married, has a lot of inconveniences that force you to communicate, act, or break it down...but is extremely healthy for development.
Not every marriage choice is correct
Pick the person with whom can adapt to styles and phases of intellect, opinions, values, habits, sexuality, but whose communication skills, depth, mirrors your own, and core life priorities (not necessarily values.. But priorities and how to balance priority emergency shifts)... That's what is most important.
@Sarah Miller i actually agree with you on most of your points, but for most people, especially men, it's a losing proposition. You're describing two mature adults that are hard to find in America: a place filled with narcissism, alcoholism, and gluttony. The fact that you responded to me with eloquent prose speaks volumes about you, and I'm sure the people that have you in their lives are grateful.
In a world where people can get divorced *without fault* and take half the assets just because they don't want to build and work on a relationship is wrong. A business contract has more teeth than a marriage contract, and that's a damn shame. Women file for about 70% of divorces and they get away with murder in family court. Men and women are treated differently by the law and there is zero reason for most men to bring the government into their relationships.
The bottom line is that we've created a society where 3rd parties benefit from divorce. They either need to fix the laws, or get married by the church without the state. Although, if the latter was to happen then they would be penalized by the state in taxes.
@@federalmayhem Excuse me (pls) while my ego rambles on for a second.
I agree. And I hear you - if I'm understanding clearly, that it is the laws under which divorce is exploited for wrongful gain that ruffles your feathers, not marriage itself completely - but that you might be a little more pro-marriage if in the event people decided to split ways, the law system didn't capitalize on it as much, "punishing" someone?
Perhaps that's something you can really rally for change around.
I also agree that it is difficult to find "the one", if that concept even exists. (that single phrase and schéma alone is radically different in every individual human mind - though when we say it aloud to eachother, we think we're talking about the same thing.)
Do you know the extent to which someone can, and often does evolve during each decade for the first 5 decades of their life? Especially the 2 decade span between yrs 20 and 40, alone? (you probably do.. It's more a question for emphasis).
I think that a mistake we make is viewing potential partners or future spouses as if they are cars or houses. We throw a bunch of money and time and pride at them right at the beginning because we like them, and they compliment us, our ego, our needs, and possibly even our goals quite nicely. Our social circles or professional circles approve the long term time stamp. As time goes on and we change and tastes change, we soon realize that this car and house aren't as exciting or complimentary to 'me' anymore, not as sexy, needs a little more WD-40 as they age, and we're kind of tired of throwing energy and money into this thing....when (seemingly) all of 'my' buddies are recycling their no- longer "exciting and gawk-worthy" cars and houses, for ones that now fit their current, adapted tastes and ego styles.
But people are not things. Not possessions to be traded out simply resulting from personal taste evolution and boredom. People are MEANT to be different and challenging at times so collectively, they can find long term "dynamic harmony" (which can Only come through differences... regardless of how annoying differences are) & steady trial, error, beauty and growth - optimal for long term joy & ultimate progression.
But who the heck looks at the long term picture like that in a sexy, hustling world, where "new" has replaced "forever," long-term "quality" and collected growth 😁.
(well, the truth is, some people still do value the latter more - but finding them can be very difficult; you are right. And finding those who are dynamically equipped to weather long term changes but with whom we can still significantly enjoy life together and grow despite humain frailty and egotism, that is the thing many people have stopped looking for and striving to be, themselves.)
And you're right, a legal system should support the efforts of even attempting to give the long - term feat a try... Not punish one party, in attempt to capitalize off of it..abusing the system that was originally created to avoid crap like that.
Unfortunately, to be a lawyer or judge, you have to become a client to an outrageously priced business... I meant law school, with money that you don't actually have, and it perpetuates the belief and almost the need to make the big bucks off of their law degree - because if they don't, they're in deep. Abuse of the legal system won't change until the business of education changes, and perhaps the eradication of the lobbyist sector/private funding to policy and law change. But that's a radically different beast.
@@sasmills Good to know there are people here that think through things and cares about other people. The further we drift towards socialism the less we will care about the individual. I want to emphasize, if we truly cherish the individual then society as a whole will also be cherished. If we try to treat everyone equally then no one will be treated fairly because the fact is that we are not all equal. For example: a felon with multiple convictions spread out across their life time is NOT my equal, and they never will be. Just as someone who can't do calculus is NOT my equal.
You're right though, my main beef is with the legal system, and I'm a big proponent of people being able to become lawyers as long as they understand the law. There's absolutely zero reason to force someone to attend law school or college in order to become a lawyer. People should be able to take the bar exam, period.
Our primary schools are fucked up, big time. People leave high school without an thorough understanding of how our government functions, our history, or even basic accounting. Then they charge people in college to teach them government and history. Which, absolutely should have been covered in high school. Not to mention, about 60% of an undergrad isn't focused on someone's major. This lack of focus stifles innovation in our fields and creates jack of all trades instead of experts. We should all be doing original research in undergrad in my opinion. A Master's program should be covered in the last two years of undergrad. I could go on and on, but I've spent way too much time studying and taking finals this week.
I hope you have a wonderful week.

WHY THE INTERVIEWER IS ON THE FUCKING PHONE
You actually can find and test iterations on how to solve global warming in a weekend, easy. Calculate consumers of carbon, figure out ways to scale them. Have a side project on how to reduce the big emissors by a certain percentage, the one needed to compensate the bottle neck on the scaling et voilá. Now you just need to find the economic viability and you are done.
