Not sure I'm looking at a 'gap bed' lathe.

A "Gap Bed" Lathe is one where a section of the he Lathe Bed is either removable, or sliding,
So that the bed can be moved away for the headstock a short distance. ..
This will increase the "Swing" the lath has dramatically allowing short parts to be turned in a large diametre. Also the length of the lathe bed also increases on sliding models.

@@MikeBaxterABC Does this featured lathe have a gap bed? It is not apparent from the images hence my comment. I am familiar the concept and have in fact worked on lathes of this classification.
