probably because bags or hollows around the eyes due to age...not being mean, but that's what happens when you start getting old...I'm sure it's why a lot of older performers wear them in public..now, some of these guys(not necessarily these guys) wore them when they were young all the time..not to hide signs of aging, but to hide signs of bloodshot eyes from intoxication,hangovers, etc...😁

They are just different styles..both are/were great. I agree that VH material is not Joe's strong suit...not because of lack of talent, but because of differences in styles of playing...I think Steve Stevens would have been a better fit for VH material, or maybe Peter Thorne, I've seen video of him absolutely nailing VH material. Steve has played with Sammy before, and since this isn't really Van Halen, wouldn't it be cool if both Satch and Steve could be on stage on this tour...2 guitarists would be awesome....
