I'm picking up an AX-700 this week so most of this applies. Very clear instructions. re: AUTO settings. When I was starting out full time with video 25 years ago, I was editing but not shooting. One day the studio owner calls me at home and asks me to go in and get the gear, head straight to the outdoor location and do the shoot because he can't make it. That made me nervous. This was a Sony DSR-300 DVCAM that cost $30,000 back in those days. A serious amount of buttons and dials compared to the X70. Plus this was our main client that kept us all working. He said to look for any controls on the camera that had a green position and put them all to green. "Huh?" "Put anything you can on green, that's Auto and you'll be fine." LOL. I was. It was satisfying to shoot the scenes I'd be editing later that day.
Finally a Video clarification with useful details, thank you, I just bought the Camera and I try to learn how to use it properly. Thank you very much for showing the knowledge, I will continue with much interest in the next Videos.
Great video, all of these work with the new AX700 cameras, too. I don't understand why Spot Focus ( see 1:13 ) is not activated automatically when the user switches from AF to MF, it's terribly clumsy to go to the menu and activate it. The other thing I hate with these cameras is the resistive touch screen, which is pretty unresponsive. I noticed that at 1:34 you press the screen pretty firmly, a typical way to operate a resistive screen. I expected Sony to use a capacitive screen in the new AX700 models in 2017. Thank you so much the excellent video, I'd love to watch a lot more from you.
I bought this camera late 2015. I haven't used it much, I preferred my old one, a Sony PDX10, which has died recently. The Operating Guide for X70 is terrible. For example, it doesn't tell you how to extend the viewfinder, and you're afraid of breaking it because you need to pull it out very strongly. When you do that or open the LCD screen, the camera turns on, but also there's supposed to be a power button that you should be able to turn the camera on and off with. But nobody knows where that is! Does anyone know where the power button is?
Un saludo amigo necesito una información, tengo esta cámara pero no he logrado comprar el software para ampliar a 4 K podria informarme donde consigo la actualización gracias.
Although I like this video I think that it is a bit wasteful to run a professional camera in automatic mode. On the other hand it's maybe good to start auto and later discover one manual function after another.

is it possible to click photo with this camera
FYI in order for me to record videos I had to go to menu-Record set-file format-AVCHD. The other file formats didn't work for me.
