- Los Angeles Fire Department battle a huge structure fire started by an arsonist who was later apprehended by LAPD. The building had been vacant for many years. Recorded in North Hollywood, CA on 10/25/2022.
I live right down the street from there, waking up to a lot of sirens really early in the morning and thinking "Wow that sounds close by!" Looking out my window I saw a lot of smoke and immediately knew it had to be one of the old abandoned buildings on fire again. The old Lamplighter Restaurant, I remember when I was little and going to that place with my mom and her friend quite often. It was a nice place that has been abandoned for many years now, it's so sad to see it go out like this. :(
Great documentation. Better than most News agencies 👍
Wow - you should be a news videographer.
Love the shot of him sitting on the wall kicking his foot 😂 awesome. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 hope y’all find the arsonist! God Bless
Do the guys on the hook and ladder ever relieved? The way there up there looks like an uncomfortable position after a while.
Great job on getting MASSIVE amounts of water on that fire.
Great shots, nice job
Good catch I was looking to see if my LA County boys were there to assist.
This is definitely an arson fire insurance inside Job.
I smell something fishy. That stretch of real estate is just begging for "development". Why am I thinking insurance fraud?
This is the 2nd fire of buildings in that abandoned mini mall

I take it you’re in the area. I’m over at whitsett and victory. Eventually it’ll become

You smelt it you dealt it. A classic.
@@RLTtizME oh you.
With that much water going on the fire at once, what does that do to water pressure in the main system? Is it enough to be significant, or is the system just so large that it isn't felt?
My understanding is that a municipality will adjust (increase) the water pressure to meet the needs of the firefighters, while ensuring residential homes in other areas continue to have adequate pressure.
Wow........is that real.....movie.......I have never seen so many fire hoses ....each man had his own hose.....Hollywood........cheers
Defensive operations (surround & drown) are more dramatic for the civilian observer but deadly dull & boring for the fire crews. Old buildings burn to the ground every day somewhere. Safety systems were removed or disconnected: intrusion, smoke & fire alarm systems, sprinkler systems. If there are no nearby structures, aka exposures, then it's often a show for the public. Dumping tons of water on an nonviable building & polluting the storm drainage systems leading to rivers, lakes & oceans.
Was he paid by someone who wanted to build a mall
If I magically became LAFD Fire Commissioner, I'd replace half of their TDAs with 95' tower ladders.
That "robotic tank" is not necessary at this fire. It brings no benefit. The LAFD sure likes their toys - think Electric Engine 82!
The guy walking back along the ladder towards the end why is there a rail with a quick release system tethered to his body or jacket?
Theres not
Why would someone do that the building could have been used for a new owner
Good time for a Coffee & Donut vendor
Where is that new battery powered engine at never see it on any fires probably won't look good seeing it towed back to the station.
Good men
and women!
Mostly men
No! Not the palm tree!
what was the structure? More info would be appreciated
This was an abandoned building that had been vacant for at least 15 years.
vacant
It was formerly a Carl's Jr. restaurant.
@@WLAs_Finest3x It was never a Carl's Jr but was an old abandoned restaurant called The Lamplighter.
@@torchup When this fire was broadcast, one of the reporters dug up the property records and discovered this location was formerly a Carl's Jr., and they never said anything about the Lamplighter. Whatever.
So, on this fire scene, LAFD uses a robotic tank with a water gun to fight this fire, which is AWESOME!! But can anyone from LAFD explain why not a single truck has a pre-piped waterway on the stick? It takes too long to place a master stream in service when you do not have the waterway already in place. Is it a cost-savings thing LAFD does not have the budget to order their ladder trucks with a pre-piped waterway or some strange strategy? It just would seem to me having a waterway already attached with a nozzle and cameras at the tip of the ladder with the ability to remotely control the water stream would seem more valuable to me than a man standing at the top of a 100-foot stick with a 2.5" hose line going.
you must be a ff.

Nobody talks about how much money fire fighters waste. Their pension is their highest paycheck and passed on to their spouses when they pass away. That’s insanity.
@@Kunfucious577 what should they get. I worked 33 years in the fire service. Retired with a decent pension. Waste of money. Sorry you think that way ahole.
How's that whole "soft on crime" thing working out for you?
Since Red states have so much crime and the highest murder rates, I’d say they’re not making out much better
@@mikegaskin5542 Higher than California? Higher than New York? Higher than Michigan? Higher than Illinois? Yeah, not.
Proof, please. You can't just make up facts to suit your position.
They really need some tower ladders.
I said the same thing before seeing your comment! So does Chicago. Those mini Snorkels the squad companies operate are a joke!
@@chrisbarr1359 Chicago has several tower ladders. They keep the snorkels around because they can get them in places the tower ladders can't. Also tradition. I believe there's now 8 towers and 3 squads not counting the airports.
Whats the thought process behind LA not having their aerials prepiped?

This shopping center will continue to see fires like this until Golds Gym moves out and that shopping center will be leveled for apartments, these fires are most likely at the hands of developers or the homeless people they pay to burn it down!!!!
