      He persists in basing things from our family history and yet, my parents English meats with mashed potatoes, wheat breads, flours and no walking or exe4fise so how the hell would their poor at best diet & physical health related to me? 45 yr organic vegetarian, crashed in menopause to find diet helped- found Keto improved but now carnivore is best.
      Same thing: was told my AS was genetic yet only my dad's mum had Rheumatoid arthritis so how is the family history relevant when we live 180 different diet. I fail to understand or believe that there is any link to family genetics. Could you enlighten me or agree?

      @@ledacedar6253 I think he’s saying that strong genetics for heart disease is a major risk factor and those people should be screened earlier with CAC. There are many other risk factors that converge in different people to lead to a heart attack. Just because you have strong genetics doesn’t mean you will have a heart attack but that you are more likely to show the progression of heart disease, especially if you don’t mitigate the risks by diet and lifestyle.

      Judy, wouldn’t a fasting insulin blood test be an indication of beta cell dysfunction without having to take the Kraft glucose tolerance test? It might not show exactly what is happening in response to glucose, but may give some indication.

    My body tends to behave differently than the norm. I was prediabetic, but my HDL and tryglicerides are always good, no HTN, CAC 0. I have always being of normal weight for height also. My only abnormal number was the LDL and it has gone higher with my low carb diet. I was pushed to take statins, but I refused. I am 66 years old and feeling good. These drs give me some extra peace of mind. Great information!

    I think the sugar addiction aspect is the hardest thing for people to overcome. A strict zero tolerance attitude along with fasting. For sure you can be healthy. It does however take a strong character and self discipline. Which sadly leaves out many younger people.

      Addiction to carbohydrates is the root cause of our ill-health as humans. The biggest mistake we make is not seeing it as a real addiction. I see videos on Instagram and TikTok of an infant first eating a cupcake and the adults trying to take it away and the infant’s physical, violent reaction seems really funny but you realize it’s a tragedy.

From there my explorations took me to paleo and today I'm eating carnivore to heal from the SAD years I had relapsed into -- but it's so exciting to see things come full circle, with Dr. Agatston seeming to be tracking on the same wavelength as I am! Is the term “plague” the same as “calcium deposit”?

    • @NutritionwithJudy
      @NutritionwithJudy  2 роки тому +3

      Yes. This is a good answer: Plaque build up within arteries can be "soft" meaning that it is recent in orgin. This is the most unstable form of plaque in arteries and most likely to rupture and cause a problem. Plaque that has been present for a longer period of time becomes calcified and is more stable. There are often no symptoms associated with soft plaque. Calcified plaque is hardened and can cause heart disease.

      I did not notice any cuts or edits, And probably wouldn’t have noticed anyway because the conversation was so interesting and seamless. Great guy, good questions from you!
