@@ledacedar6253 I think he’s saying that strong genetics for heart disease is a major risk factor and those people should be screened earlier with CAC. There are many other risk factors that converge in different people to lead to a heart attack. Just because you have strong genetics doesn’t mean you will have a heart attack but that you are more likely to show the progression of heart disease, especially if you don’t mitigate the risks by diet and lifestyle.
Judy, wouldn’t a fasting insulin blood test be an indication of beta cell dysfunction without having to take the Kraft glucose tolerance test? It might not show exactly what is happening in response to glucose, but may give some indication.
For the first time in many decades I am at peace with food!! Have not eaten anything sweet in over 2 years! Won’t touch it; I have too much to loose. Food (CHO) addiction is very real !!!
My body tends to behave differently than the norm. I was prediabetic, but my HDL and tryglicerides are always good, no HTN, CAC 0. I have always being of normal weight for height also. My only abnormal number was the LDL and it has gone higher with my low carb diet. I was pushed to take statins, but I refused. I am 66 years old and feeling good. These drs give me some extra peace of mind. Great information!
I think the sugar addiction aspect is the hardest thing for people to overcome. A strict zero tolerance attitude along with fasting. For sure you can be healthy. It does however take a strong character and self discipline. Which sadly leaves out many younger people.

Addiction to carbohydrates is the root cause of our ill-health as humans. The biggest mistake we make is not seeing it as a real addiction. I see videos on Instagram and TikTok of an infant first eating a cupcake and the adults trying to take it away and the infant’s physical, violent reaction seems really funny but you realize it’s a tragedy.

What a great episode! South Beach Diet was my first major 'aha' moment in my food journey, as I realized that the grains cut out of the first two weeks had a serious impact on me. From there my explorations took me to paleo and today I'm eating carnivore to heal from the SAD years I had relapsed into -- but it's so exciting to see things come full circle, with Dr. Agatston seeming to be tracking on the same wavelength as I am! Fun times :)

It's not ldl particles but "oxidized" ldl particles that pass the oxidation onto the endothelial walls. The insulin resistance issue will be a major player in this, but also any seed oils! 🛢 This causes more oxidation than anything in my opinion...
Check your LPa (l p little a) level. Genetic- 20% of population has this. It’s a very aggressive cholesterol but a low inflammation diet helps. Statins actually raise it. Low/no carb diet is good.
Dr. Agatston's presentation is AMAZING. Pre-pre diabetes is something to really consider... That part under the curve is quite revealing: it's truly preventative care.

Another thing I would like to mention when I was eating a heavy plant-based high carb diet with low fat that we were all told was healthy. I had pretty bad abdominal bloating constipation fatigue joint pain and brain fog and as soon as I cut that out and started my Keto carnivore diet everyone of those health issues is now gone!
Me too! I was strict vegan, high carb low fat for over 20 years. Always had bloating, pain, gas, diarrhea. 2 months low carb keto, "IBS" symptoms gone! Looking forward to more healing, as I have other concerning and painful symptoms. Moving more towards carnivore every day!

There is no positive score, it's just a number. From there, if the number is high, he uses other markers to go along with the support (cholesterol panel, the Kraft test, etc) but from there, the biggest changes are through diet. He is the creator of the South Beach Diet. He advocates mostly for dietary changes.
Thank you for this very informative video. I had the CAC score test done this spring and was told that insurance never covers this test. I had to pay up front out of pocket. This was at a major university medical center. Watching this video makes me so angry that I couldn't get this test covered by insurance. Is this unusual?
My insurance didn’t cover it and it cost me about $100. Worth it for the information in my opinion. And the test is recommended to repeat every 3-5 years so really not that expensive if you consider you don’t need it very often.
Yes. This is a good answer: Plaque build up within arteries can be "soft" meaning that it is recent in orgin. This is the most unstable form of plaque in arteries and most likely to rupture and cause a problem. Plaque that has been present for a longer period of time becomes calcified and is more stable. There are often no symptoms associated with soft plaque. Calcified plaque is hardened and can cause heart disease.
Dr Agaston (South Beach diet, invented the calcium score ) is extremely highly regarded by the establishment Cardiology crowd. 51 min " the carnivore diet is best " end of story !
As people get older, they will not make as much natural hydrochloric stomach acid, which must be improved in order to properly digest and pulverize the food. Betaine or apple cider vinegar 20 minutes before a ketogenic meal will improve this...
What type of calcium test are you talking about in this video? I've had my calcium tested recently, but the numbers range between 8.7 - 10.2 mg/dl. For what it's worth, mine is currently 9.7
That is a different calcium test, it is telling you your blood level of calcium. Not the amount in your arteries. Do you have a high calcium score in your blood, I would recommend taking 200 mg of a higher absorbing magnesium twice a day with meals. If you are taking vitamin D, be very sure you are taking at least 90 µg of MK seven, a type of vitamin K, in order to keep the calcium out of those vessels. They will do you know good there
@@eugeniebreida1583 Thanks for your reply. I have some calcium plaque on one of my heart valves. It's minor now, but I'm trying to do what I can to repair it (without surgery). I don't have the specifics to share, but my cardiologist said if it stays at the level it's at now, it shouldn't get any worse. I've been keto/carnivore for the last 2.5 years. I'd rather not just leave it like it is if there's a way to reduce/remove it with diet or supplements. I do take vitamin K2 currently and the vitamin D I take is infrequent because my numbers are ok with that one. Doesn't meat contain high doses of magnesium already? I don't want to over do it.

And no, too much mag is not gong to harm you - however you may sleep more soundly/before more relaxed. Always take mag w/D (along w/that MK-7). Soils are depleted these days, so it's good to get your boron/ selenium/ zinc-copper ratio at 15:1/ etc etc. Of course IODINE, salt, potassium. . . Sorry to run on. We all need a truly well educated nutritionist - as the subject is immensely complex . . . and we need to remember with the supps: First Do No Harm! : ) Best.

I can't get a cac test according to the medical establishments in Texas or Florida and a lot of others states because I already have stents in me. I'm from Canada, and drove down to get one because my Doctor won't give me one. Do you have any ideal why the won't test anyone with heart stents ?
Try Hopkins, Stanford, State University hospitals/cardios. I just called cardio all of us rather than establishments. A private cardiologist, like this guy.

I got my first CAC test last summer and had a Zero (0) score. I was 57 and that was a relief
